    Group Funds

Neat. That makes it easier to implement for everyone else. Just call it a Joint Bank Account. Maybe others want to have the opportunity to do this also. Such a basic thing should not be open to only those within factions (curious to know % of player base that is in factions? New city role - Bank Teller By paying £10,000 NON-Faction players can join with others to contribute towards a shared fund. This can be achieved by visiting the newly created role at an appropriate location. To cover maintenance costs a small administration fee of £1000 (Rough guess, open to change) can be introduced to help cover costs and employee fees. Benefits. Greater player sense of building/continuity/accomplishment New Government Role Disadvantages ???
  3. Admin logs on and places 5 cars in an area, people have to find the contents of the car. (Weazel - News) "and today in other news a shipment of 5 rare cars was stolen, police have traced the cars to *insert name* but have yet to locate the vehicles" ^just a quick example. Super easy super effective. Would take an admin like 10 mins to do but could provide hours of fun for citizens. could be run at the discretion of the admin. To have even less work for admin, just do the event whenever you got the time. it's just an added little bonus.
  4. 5 teams of 2, a team from each faction, all race in the same car. Destruction Derby style. There is a track, north of the city, stand for people to watch the race, sell food there, sell drugs there, weapons, etc, police could man the event, gangs can have their own car colors, we could have security, private races, car show out front, entrance fees, racing fees, etc etc This could be legal or illegal it doesn't matter. This would need admin involvement, it's just asking too much for players to fund these things on their own. it just won't attract the level of attention needed. Any feedback would be a help.

    Group Funds

Introduce Group Funds. The ability for a small group to contribute funds towards a single account. So when you approach to deposit at ATMs you can select where to deposit, same with withdrawal. Possibly have this account accessible by all members, certain roles, whatever. Just somewhere where people can get a group sense of accomplishment, they then can buy houses together.
  6. Yeah very true, I had not considered your first point, this alone kinda debunks my theory on its own. Your added critiques only strengthen your argument. I understand also about the RP side of the business and how one could theoretically get a business up and running in the game, through simple RP. However, the external facilities of discord, which has numerous channels, the website (outdated and minimalistic guides on basic game mechanics), and then having PD on TS3 just makes everything non-succinct and convoluted. To engage properly with those businesses already on the forums and to ensure then that they garner the traction needed then I would suggest a revisiting of the way that information is displayed externally out of the game. Make it easier for players to understand then the limits of the factions and where they can expect there RP to lead them given the available scripts. I've only managed to learn what I know of the game so far through active forum engagement and at times it has not been easy to navigate the structure supporting Eclipse. Basic things are just not completed. To keep a system of business as is today Eclipse should then recognize that current facilities and modes of advertisement and player interaction may need an overhaul. Only to promote more GP. This could be simple things such as increasing the layout or organization of the website. Creating an External Eclipse IC website. The IC website could house everything that should be found in-game however which cannot. Order cars here, upload images of houses, create stories. Similar to the in-house IC section on the current site. Apart from you won't have to scroll through page after page to find info on people, places and locations, business, faction, business opportunities, celebrities, races, everything, everything. There is no point having #fashion for example in the discord alone when the IC section is on the website. Just make things more succinct, accessible and attractive for now then instead I guess would be my follow to the suggestion. NB: For anyone who has ever played EVE ONLINE, what would you guys suggest in having a corporation style system of governance where each and every player has to be part of a group. NPC or Player created corporations in EVE provide a systemic way to control and promote player interaction, and ultimately RP.
  7. I'm considering joining several gangs but I'm unsure who you are referring to?
  8. This is a suggestion to add more business into the game introducing a business ownership cap of 2. There is no reason to have only a single tier of progression. You get to "buy" a business, that's it. Why don't we have multiple levels of business at least? I've mentioned this in other posts but thought it deserved its own post. You own a barber shop for example, you must run a successful tier 1 business (rated either on time of ownership, % of available stock over a certain time, ie, how well you have operated the store, or measured against a different variable (any suggestions)), before being allowed to apply for a tier 2 business and so on and so on. The trick would be to introduce business that offer a upgrade from the current business available in game. This would give mega rich and experienced players something more to do. (This would hopefully bring more life back into the server). Once the experienced players have saved enough money they can now apply for a newly created tier 4 business. But that's it, if they want to own another tier 4 businesses they have to apply for a tier 1 business and start the process over however there would be a lengthy cooldown before applying for a second business license. This gives others the opportunities and stops this newly adopted business scheme from being immediately monopolized by the mega-rich. I think this process will allow experienced players more opportunity to revisit the game, give them something more to do and will encourage RP throughout the server. Any player who currently has enough money for a business, but has, however, found themselves unavailable to purchase a business may now have the opportunity to do so. Lastly, newer players (not new players, but newer players, not fresh of the boat immigrants but those players that have tried a lot of what the in-game scripts have to offer and who fancy more from their time in the city), for those new players may also now be able to purchase the smaller business and work there way up. This is not an attack on the mega-rich and is meant only as a suggestion to bring more interaction between players, provide more business opportunities and incentives to players to work towards collective goods and who will ultimately continue returning to play on Eclipse. Please guys, if you decide this is a -1, give me feedback. Cheers!
  9. why even bother to comment? why is it a -1 from you?
  10. +1 great input
  11. yeah, fair play makes sense. Best to keep criminals out of it then. Good point.
  12. Are the players who spent so much time grinding, as you state, happy with the current levels of engagement they have/required from their owned business? Did they grind all that time to do only menial tasks to operate a business? Do they use those locations for RP or do they use other locations for RP? What do business owners actually do? Do you think tiered business would work? Where smaller local business could be owned and operated by smaller, independent players and larger more complex companies could be run by gangs and richer people? Is this something you would consider? I don't think anyone wants to strip the experienced/devoted players but rather are attempting to create scope for newer players and older players to interact on a stage that doesn't involve a one purchase end game as such, which provides, little RP opportunities considering the available platform and mods on Rage Client. Why can't a system be created where players can move from tier 1 (retail, barber, hotdog carts, burger vans) ownership into tier 2 business (garages, gun shops), into newly created tier 3 business (Chop shops, loan companies, banks, etc)? Thus creating space, maneuverability and an increased chance of RP. Not just for new players but for experienced players who may desire for even greater opportunities. Experienced players under this new system now have something even greater to strive for. (i would enjoy playing on a server where all the experienced gang members/leaders and rich folk are suddenly reawoken and reenergized to play the server as they have new business venture opportunities to strive for).
  13. just drags my eyes to an already cluttered text box. Your right though, might not break immersion but it decreases RP. Everytime since it was installed, every new player upon seeing that no longer needs to ask someone for information. As most exp players know, any small interaction between players can led to who knows what. Why give players another opportunity to skip out on RP from just asking someone. Considering asking people for info (where is this where is that) is one of the things most players do, makes sense to add (what time does the bank close) onto that list.
  14. Owners often have employees. Would you consider the idea where upon purchasing a business that the Owner should be required to fill certain positions within the company by hiring people? Players could report back to the owners on the store's takings and get paid accordingly (this could be automated). Or how about Cloths shops being all ran as a faction, much like other factions. Where there are owners, managers, employees, etc. Players could be offered incentives with special promotions or limited edition clothing only available at player ran outlets, thus encouraging RP. You could include tattoo parlors and barbers in this. I know if I had a local barber I would be more inclined to get my hair cut more often. Just a thought.
  15. you lose all credibility with this comment and you cannot be taken seriously anymore. OP is trying to engage and elevate RP to the next level and you call then "butthurt". You have a simple mind.
  16. You get a massive + 1 from me. However, what you describe is almost next-gen RP and Eclipse and Rage do not seem to have the capacity to implement what you are asking. What you propose is great but the systems are just not in place. Even on the surface, the community is divided as to the depth and quality of the RP required. OP's proposals seem to offer RP far beyond any notion of making money and its sad to see some respond as if making money had been the main topic of debate. This topic should be considered the highest priority for increasing the quality and quantity of RP. At present, the server is just lacking in content regarding RP creation opportunities outside of scripted services suck as medic/mechanic/taxi/bus driver (all of which appear very rinse and repeat jobs, imo). More business could be beneficial. Further thoughts; Barbers, tattoo shop, butchers, gamesman, tour bus, bouncers for poker rooms and clubs, you don't have to only have big business' but also little business. A Barber could be required to be within his shop for a set amount of time every day. If the player is going away and loses the business, tough shit, they lose the business, let the next person have a go. MORE RP A group of 10 people may decide that they want to run the local tattoo parlor. They arrange for the tattoo parlor to be stationed by them so it cannot be taken over, MORE RP Keep in mind that a tattooist or barber often just rent the chair in the shop and not the actual shop. There should be more opportunity for players to nip in and out of retail roles and RP opportunities. Apply on the website for retail training and certification and allow players to /startwork inside a retail clothing store for example. A hot dog vendor buys a license from the local council/government (player based, centered around a presidential/major RP hierarchy, mentioned in other suggestions) granting them permission to sell food in certain spots. The spots cost different amounts to sell. For example, to sell hotdogs outside the bank would be more expensive than to sell hotdogs outside the police station, as per projected profits from each spot. However, to sell hotdogs at an Event organized by the Ecplise Community Event Organizers such as at a concert or comedy night would require auctions, everyone needs to eat at a concert so the council would take bids from local food vendors on who wins the rights to sell at the events. (Funny quirky hotdog rivalries could emerge). Another example For example. I log on, I go to the store, those who own the store are not online. So can use the shop, as usual, however, there is a timer in store, displaying the last time the owner(s) were in the store. if the owner does not reset their alarm within this time then an alarm is signaled. Cops show up and the alarm is diffused. There is no more timer. The owner has now forfeited their ownership of the ship. Notification is sent out through the server that the shop is now up for sale. it could be first come first server? The highest bidder to the council/government? (I'm not sure how this would be settled). A different system could be used for gas station and bigger business but there is no need to have only 1 type or size of business. The business may require joint signatures of x amount of people to leave. A holdings based system would be nice for criminal gangs. Where criminal gangs may own 5 business for examples however could only directly control the operations of 2. Meaning they have to subcontract the operation of the business to smaller gangs. (However, considering the near non-implementation of anything gang related outside of an official "faction" this may never happen. The Zetas for example (random gang selection) could directly control 2 locations/business and send 5 men to each to protect their business, ensure they don't get robbed by other players, etc. They could then go and collect "earning" from those other gangs/individuals/players they have running the business they cannot control directly. (Think kings/vassals). ((Any introduction of a hierarchical system would be beneficial tbf)). I would love to play RP with the functions OP describes but I feel the mechanics of Rage and Eclipse may struggle. Although it's still unbelievably great RP considering the available resources and will continue to play sorry for the long post. GL
  17. Please remove the [Eclipse RP.net] notification for when the bank is open and closed. I see no added benefit to this notification. It only breaks immersion. If someone wants to find out when the bank closes and opens they need to ask someone else IC. It takes 2 seconds to pull up or flag someone down in-game IC and ask.
  18. Use the rate RP feature to offer weekly prizes Car meets Fashion show Talent show (reverse steering, parkour skills, drifting) Comedy night/Karaoke night Treasure Hunt/Mystery Hunt (place vehicles across the maps and let gangs fight for who can steal them and chop then first maybe) Protests! (organised sanctioned protests towards server developments). If players want better trucking contracts they protest, taxis too expensive, protest. Only due to high traffic on topics and high turn out on events should changes be made. If no-one turns up to protest taxi prices then no change is made. If you combine this with the President role someone suggest and elections then it may help in providing platforms, " I run for president on this policy xxxx, we will be holding a protest on such a date". Fight Night in the cage (previously suggested). This could be a weekly thing. Gambling could take other forms. People could then play the role of Bookkeeper for the event. There could be legal fight night with security firms operating the doors. Or illegal fight night ram by the Zeta is whoever.
  19. Report report report, don't engage them, or chase them or encourage them, all officers on the scene should be required to be recording and should all submit reports. The player has then banned I'm guessing. Never to be seen again. Im guessing you guys do this right and you only evcer run into a player doing this once? because ofc they get banned shortly after I imagine this is a problem for you guys and is due to a lack of RP a lot of the time but I just wanted to remind you that officers of the law tend to stick to it more than criminals. Those that break the rules (life rules, not server) will always have an advantage over those that are restricted to the laws.
  20. +1 Inter police departmental competition would be cool RP opportunities.
  21. It is really interesting to see what others see in the server, so many good points in this thread. I'm new to the server, been here about a week and I'm really considering not getting involved now before I waste my time. The server apprears to have huge potential but the lack of RP from the police is ridiculous. They literally just stop you and fine you. Apparently, you can set up bank heists and prison breaks with admins but i imagine this is only reserved for experienced players or streamers. The basic city jobs are nothing, they provide no RP, little incentive to replay them and just seem like a drag. Where are the stealable money trucks, the faction of guards hired to protect them, why is nobody else able to buy gas stations and such its a monopoly, where are the police blockades on gang hideouts and criminal busts. There is just not a lot going on. Most just gather at the bank and talk shit. The server can best be described in two ways. Cops vs Robbers, not everyone does this but a lot do. Or as a GTA chatroom, with no attractions working, no shooting range, fairies nothing., It is hard to RP as a citizen if all you are able to do is play poker and be robbed. Why can it not be made mandatory to join a player faction? so that a player can never be without a faction, when they leave a player faction they default back to one of the city jobs. However, these player ran factions would be run similar to Corps in EveOnline, treated with respect for their services. Player factions could include, Security Firms, Taxi Firms, Bank and Bank Loan, Mechanics, Customs, Lawyers and Solicitors, Plumbers and electricians could be added and houses take damage over time. There are just so many RP roles that could be implemented. So a Bank Teller is someone has chosen that corp and gets paid a wage, then instead of using /take salary, you go to speak to the bank teller. If the bank teller leaves the bank location then it can just revert back to /take salary, when they ware to return they tend to customers at a bank of their choosing. They receive wages only for the time they are at the bank. This is just a rough idea would need major balancing and it just a thought. but essential requires players to have a fixed role within the city, thus adding to the life within the city. Just having a q at the bank could lead to people pushing in, people pushing in the q leads to players, not like each other and boom, RP is born. From standing ina q lol Anyways this is just the thoughts of a new player so, take it as you will.

    Bus Routes

+1 Great idea. Even just highlighting the current bus stops or placing signs in-game so players can see the current stops would be a good first step.
  23. Could this RP'd at all with more security? I'm new so still trying to get a feel for the server and how deep the RP actually is. Maybe this is an opportunity for more RP opportunities to arise. Could police possible attend the event and ensure safety for the crowd? Could a player ran faction handle this possibly? Any opportunity to increase RP opportunities is a good thing as the server in its current state has limited mechanics to push RP to the next level. Let me know if this could be done. Maybe just 20 people, separate faction ~(Event Staff) doesn't matter on the personal background as its a community event and cops and criminals or citizens just want to ensure the event runs smoothly. So anyone from any gang or anything. Make rules so all past grudges cant be settled here and there is to be no violence. There will be a man on the door on the way out who will take player donations from guests who enjoyed the event. This will help pay staff for the event and ensuring the safety of guests. Funds could towards Police donations and medical crew that ought to be in attendance anyways as due to the nature of the event. -1 for the NCZ implementation from me although. + 1 for raising it as a concern though and something that ought to be seriously looked into, if the problem is as dire as you state. Maybe default to an NCZ, I for one would be happy to attend an event as support staff and collect 1k or 2k on way out for being staff.
  24. -1 I genuinely don't know if this is a troll post or not. English isn't the most spoken language for nothing. Yes, it's not the primary language of a lot of Countries but nearly all of Europe can speak it. Not just in the UK. Yes, the Americas has a lot of people speaking English but come on man, is this a serious suggestion? And yeah, most of Europe want to play on an English speaking server because they speak English. lol again, I don't know if this is genuine or not.
