Donovan Posted January 2, 2019 Report Posted January 2, 2019 (edited) I feel like minimaps should be removed if you are not a vehicle that RPly has " a gps monitor " . So if the car is an older model it most likelly won't have a gps system on it installed or if it does add it as an option in modview and basicly if you buy it , you get the minimap in the car . No reason to have minimap on foot , think the game would be more immersive if the minimap was gone unless in a vehicle that has GPS system installed . Edited January 2, 2019 by Gangula 2
Yputi Posted January 2, 2019 Report Posted January 2, 2019 I like this idea TBH. Actually, when I newly joined the server I didn't notice you could only open the map with keyboard (I am a controller user for some parts) and I was like.. quite happy it was a thing you had to navigate out of your head. I do think there should be an toggle though. Like people these days have Google Maps on their phone. So maybe that if people got a phone they can use their phone to see the map and navigate, but when they dont have a phone, the battery is dead or someoen robbed people and took away their battery that they can't navigate anymore. I see some potential and I am curious what others think. 1
Donovan Posted January 2, 2019 Author Report Posted January 2, 2019 Yeah exactly ... Like have it availlable only in certain scenarios , when you go F2 > click on the phone and bring it up > then you can do it etc. Or if you are in the modern car or buy a modification at LSC/Bayview for it tto be installed etc.
verydoge12 Posted January 2, 2019 Report Posted January 2, 2019 -1 Pretty sure that the minimap helps new players A LOT and if you don't want one you can remove it yourself

When I am travelling and am on foot, I always have the minimap up until I reach my destination irl. tbh I just think this is way too unnecessary. 1

Exactly and that's why you should be able to see it only when you lift your phone up ... and that way you cannot use it permanently and need to charge more often if you want map ..
alexalex303 Posted January 2, 2019 Report Posted January 2, 2019 -1 This will only hurt new players. I understand realism, but it is a game. New players shouldn't be hindered any more than they already are. 4
Donovan Posted January 2, 2019 Author Report Posted January 2, 2019 Personally , I think it would greatly increase the way people speak and play , because not only the speed issue would be sorted out cause people wouldn't know when a turn is coming up before they can actually see it , and also would increase the quality of people asking for rides or driving to a place , cause people would start reffering to street names and actually caring about them more since you wouldn't have your map active 24/7 no matter what vehicle you are driving or if you are on foot .. That's atleast my way looking at it , and I've explained about the reply made about new players in one of the posts above
ElisabethC Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 I personally still use my minimap and big map (using escape) daily, on about 220k xp. Irl, I'd still pull up my GPS in known territory, just to make sure the route in my head is indeed the quickest one. I see where you're coming from, but you bring up some bad points as well. Forcing new players to know the map by heart before joining the server is a bit harsh. The last time I played GTA 5 before joining Eclipse was 3 years. I should have technically been barred by your standards. Do you think that's fair? I disagree, respectfully. Making it a toggle would be nice for those who want to, but I don't think this'll be that easy to implement. On my personal experience, I'd give it a -1, but I understand where you're coming from. 2
JayGamble Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 -1 I understand the potential benefits but I believe there are more cons here. I also think most of the modern world owns a cell phone, and GPS is quite literally available at your fingertips 24/7.
inorigj Posted January 5, 2019 Report Posted January 5, 2019 (edited) I personally think it should be like with the Phone charger. That you nerd to add it to a vehicle (MD, PD and script Job vehicle comes with it pre installed) I would also like to point out that saying it Will Hurt New players is pointless and not true. As the Main map on ESC is what players Who wants to see where stuff is use as the minimap is very limited to how much it shows at any given time . PS. Even tho ut hurts the New players. KNOWING where eveything is i personally would class as metagaming. I would recommend making the minimap in to a Phone app like if you were using Google maps. Edited January 5, 2019 by inorigj 1

Exactly.. that is my point , new players shouldn't know everything RPly and OOCly I personally think that you shouldn't come to play on an RP server without playing either single player or online , not only because of the map but because of guns , commands , hotkeys , mechanics etc.
MusketDeezNuts Posted January 5, 2019 Report Posted January 5, 2019 +1 above 5000 EXP. For new players 1
KeistuoliZ Posted January 5, 2019 Report Posted January 5, 2019 +- Maybe not removing it, but making it buyable and marking that as GPS.
