  1. +1 to all of this. Phone should have a different command when typing, as right now it is inconsistent between voip and typing. When you type and are on the phone, it will show up on the phone as well as local with no option to just say something locally, but if you use VOIP, you have different hotkeys for phone and local. This would be an improvement as sometimes you might not want to say everything over the phone and some people prefer to type rather than use VOIP. The shorter commands would just be an improvement. Lastly, not being able to call 911 quietly puts you in danger if someone was close enough to see the text box (There is also another suggestion for smaller range on text), they would likely get killed under DM rules.
  2. And with the addition of the public robbery rules, it is also very safe to do. Considering the safety + profits, and if what Kenichis is saying is accurate, the job might be too good, especially when compared to legal jobs, where you need to actually work hard and at the end, still not get the same $/H.
  3. -1 on another taxi company, it would just bring nothing to the table. Taxis are not used as much in the city, a lot of times DCC will not have enough people on staff as it is, so why would you expect 2 companies could operate effectively rather than inconveniencing everyone by having to check with different companies who can pick them up etc. The server does not offer a high enough demand for every service. LSC and Bayview are both of the same, but they are needed as they provide a service that most people use. Weazel is the only platform for news and ads, but people can use the forums for advertisements and the addition of lifeinvader created an opportunity for people to run a news blog. A few things that could potentially help you out is knowing what you have available in the current scripts. /setgps allows you to go to any address if the customer knows it otherwise you go based on landmarks. You can use the wiretransfer option that is available in your phone to charge people at the start of the ride, rather than at the end. I don't think the server needs another taxi company, but if someone managed to start an uber type service with the current system available and managed to show some form of longevity, i think the developers will look at adding something then. If you can't show any longevity of your own company, why would the developers spend time on making something like this happen in the first place. I don't think it is too much to expect from people to try to work with the script that they have right now and if they can show promise to ask for further assistance from developers in making it work. Honestly maybe even start a faction thread for that and work your way up.
  4. +1 to separating lock picking and adding a hot-wire mechanic, should be for all cars as even modern cars that have easy start options only work with the key being close. +1 for the speakers, just doesnt really make sense that a speaker would take up that much space, would make a lot more sense if it was just a side slot as its technically not stored in a box when youre using it. Huge +1 on the doors, this would not only help people from accidents, but would also prevent people from hoping out of police cars when they shouldn't be able to. Would be good to have this on a toggle though, as for some people the hassle to unlock a car would not be something they would enjoy. Kinda neutral on the VOIP/text thing in cars, as you can just whisper in voip and use /cw to talk only in the car. -1 on the real names, just don't think that is needed and personally would not be a fan of that.
  5. I think most of the scams would be avoided if people put the RP there, trade the items RP wise first then use the commands. If the trade happens through RP, such as hands the keys and takes the money, it has to be followed up by commands, otherwise its PG and will get you a refund.
  6. A lot of people who just insult others are basically ruleplaying, they stay in NCZs where you cant really do anything against them and call DM if you do something about it. I understand that you would not kill a person for talking shit, but when your only option is to just walk away, it makes no RP sense. Someone harassing others is already breaking the law, so it feels hypocritical to just let one side do what he wants, while the other is left with no options.
  7. The thing is that as per the rule "Players may not transfer assets to other players or to other characters they own without proper IC reason. Doing so will be treated as Real World Trading (RWT)" and just like every other punishment, there are ban thresholds in place. In this case, RWT is a ban no matter the reason how you get RWT, so nothing can be done about that. But i would agree that this should not count as RWT, and should be treated as metagaming. With the recent rule change about characters not knowing about each other, this would make sense. Additionally, as this has more serious implication, any kind of breach of the Metagaming rule and Property rule, should give you a metagaming punishment + asset removal (houses/cars if these were transferred) + any potential gains you made based on the transfer that would be at the discretion of senior staff. This would not lead to a ban on peoples first offense, but the monetary loss would likely discourage people from doing it again.
  8. So currently if you have a weapon equipped, it has 0 weight and you can have as many different weapons equipped as there are weapons without any kind of penalty to your character. My suggestion is to make every piece you have equipped maintain its weight and reduce the amount you can carry in your inventory. Additionally, I think having ammo have some weight would also make sense, and weapon attachments should maintain their weight when equipped, rather than remove the weight just because it is equipped - A modded weapon should weight more than an un-modded one. This change would largely impact any scripted weapons, but would also have an impact on every other equipment on the server. Having these changes would utilize the existing carry capacity to promote a more realistic approach on how much gear you can have on you for both crims and LEOs. Simply put - you have 50 carrying capacity in your inventory. If you choose to carry a pistol (5), a rifle (10) and body armor (5?), you should only have a total of 30 left in your inventory. Additionally, having ammo give weight would add to the realism, as right now, ammo has basically 0 weight and you could carry 1k rounds on you without it making a difference.
  9. -1 It will just increase how stupid the city can look, everyone walking around wearing masks and carrying guns, and now lets add on body armor. A regular citizen does not need body armor, and if they would be wearing it, it is likely they are expecting to get into a shootout - which again, no regular citizen is going around doing. Additionally, this would do absolutely 0 for any civilian protection and would just feed body armor to criminals. Lastly I've never seen legal people wearing body armor, so you either saw criminals or saw out of uniform LEOs/commissioners.
  10. +1 I think at least splitting into vehicles/houses/properties or business/classifieds would be a good way to add some sorting to the single list that it is right now.
  11. I think it would be very fair to make static labs with lower timers and potentially higher value due to the involved risk and only makes sense that a setup lab would be more efficient than a makeshift lab at home.
  12. -1 One of the biggest reasons the bank even is the main spot for such deals, is because it is the only place with unlimited ATMs. Tax evasion is also a crime btw.
  13. you seemed to have missed what Jake said completely. It is to prevent people from going 200+ through NCZs by getting fined. Theres a reason they are only in NCZs and a reason why they wont be changed.
  14. speed cameras are an OOC solution to an IC problem. It is used to prevent people from potentially killing people in NCZs, which is why they are only there.
  15. Ye i think the 4h timer was too small, but 16h is too much. You get 1 shot in a day to do it and even then all it takes is for some random guy to try to "talk to the manager" by lockpicking the door. This timer also doesn't allow much in terms of preparation as you can't afford to just wait because someone else will go and trigger it. One of the best bank robbery setups ive seen was done by dojin, where they pulled PD to the other side of town and then went to rob a bank. The setup was great, but at that point, i don't think the potential rewards match the risk and losses.
  16. I think the main thing everyone seems to forget, is that while PD loses nothing, PD gains nothing. You get involved in shootouts with PD because there is no other out for you, while we do not engage them. We respond. Now obviously if we were standing to lose something, it is only logical that we stand to gain something as well, dont you think?
  17. +1 Stealing a car should be a 2 step process: 1 > entry - using lock picks to get inside the vehicle or obviously if you find an unlocked car you skip this 2 > ignition - hot-wiring the car to start as you don't have keys. This could be done with lock picks or a new tool could be introduced. This would also need to be done every time the car needs to start up. It just doesn't make sense that all you need to steal a car is to break in and would add a lot more depth to stealing cars, which could mean an increase in chop shop values as well due to making it more difficult.
  18. -1 First person view is horrible and the game is just not meant to be played that way. Regarding shootouts, have to agree with , most gangs understand the need for positioning and cover. Most if not all of the time, criminals try to get a better angle, get some high ground, get some cover etc etc. They do not just run around aimlessly. The only time i think i have seen them do so, is when they are cleaning up or when they don't have a clear vision of hostiles - but LEOs do the same. No point to use some crazy tactics when you are in a situation where you outnumber your enemies 10 to 1.
  19. Personally i feel like no one should be RPing as anyone under 18, and especially not as kids, simply because of 2 things: 1. Script limits body choices and if you do decide to RP as someone younger, you would need to be constantly doing /do to show that you are in fact, someone who is not an adult. Not doing so, would just be used to be a kid in 1 situation and an adult in another, as driving was suggested. 2. People of all ages play this, meaning that you can't judge a character by their voice. Same as dudes who play female characters expect to be treated as girls, so do people with younger voices expect to be treated as adults. I think if the script supported different body types and would allow you to actually be a kid, then maybe it would be ok, but honestly id rather we didnt have people RPing pedo fantasies
  20. +1 have to agree on this, just like in real life, most crime happens at night, just because there would and are a lot less people walking around. Would also drastically decrease reports for robberies.
  21. gonna double +1 this, as was stated by Ballin, when the service is fully launched, it will be the IC marketplace and i think we should be allowed to pay IC money to advertise our stuff.
  22. I think the main thing that should be made with IC currency would be the advertising.
