Use a food/drink item, get a recharge on that bar in seconds depending on how many times you use it. Items could have percent usage. Like, 3.25 bottles of water. This would give you the ability to not waste anything. Splitting would probably be needed to change to only split one at a time. I honestly hate the eat/drink timers, animations and set up.

Honestly, I don't think the animation is absolutely necessary in the vehicle since most people are third person and don't look at the character's front when driving anyway. They shouldn't be able to eat/drink and drive, but there's no reason why a passenger shouldn't be able to eat in the car. Maybe the animation issue was why it wasn't allowed?
