  1. Masks in NCZs is an in-character issue. LSPD already cracks down on this but as soon as the officer leaves the masks go back on again. This is honestly a RP opportunity for you if you see it as an issue, as you can approach the LSPD and demand better enforcement if that's what your character wants. You're right that the random robberies are dumb, though. While most criminals regularly lose these basic items when they get put in jail so there is some small incentive to get these items back, I don't think it's justified to rob every single person that decides to stroll out of a NCZ. Some gangs are better than others about this but the problem people make it frustrating for everyone.
  2. "Bounties" in real life are enforced by bail bondsmen who collect people who have been released from jail pending their court date. They don't appear in court, the money they put up for bail becomes the payment the bail bondsman gets to retrieve them and haul them back to jail. Because we don't have a court system, there's no bail to be posted.
  3. Make use of script functions, like the heavy pistol, if you're so worried. Otherwise use a bag like everyone else. When you drive by the store near the bank and you see all these zeta guys with bags, what do you think they've got in there? burgers?
  4. I don't like the speed cameras but they are a necessary evil to fight what was at the time a huge OOC problem of people getting run over in NCZs. While the problem wasn't 100% eliminated it was dramatically reduced. What I really don't like about the cameras is how it impacts new players, where they aren't yet in the mindset of driving like a human being and go at full speed everywhere and find themselves thousands of dollars in debt sitting in a cell for reckless driving.
  5. How are they being abused?
  6. As much as I'd like to see realistic investigation of corpses beyond "well we didn't see it happen, I guess that's it" linking it to an ID names the person that did the deed straight away.
  7. So what's stopping folks rolling as deep as they can and just saying they're at war with anyone who doesn't bend the knee and kill them over and over until they quit? My understanding is people already rob and chop people's cars over and over if a rival gang doesn't do what they want, are folks going to start putting a bullet in everyone's head too? Not trying to take a dump on anyone in particular but that's what I see happening with the proposed change. There would be no reason not to.
  8. Don't want to get fined for speeding? Don't speed where the cameras are. Or drive the speed limit and avoid police attention altogether. The cameras were added not because police can't hand out enough charges, but because people were driving like total fools and killing people in NCZs. The automatic fines are supposed to cut down on that.
  9. If there's no crosshair while in the vehicle, maybe give it a try. Sounds like it'll lead to dumb things from my perspective though.
  10. Here's the thing though. In that situation if he tries anything, we're just going to shoot him. There aren't any illusions about how it would play out because if you seriously try to fight that situation you clearly don't value your life. That isn't roleplay, that's gunning down someone for doing something intensely foolish in every respect. More likely they'd try to run from the felony stop, which in my experience is what everybody does because they 1). value their life and 2). have valuables on their person or in the vehicle they don't want to lose.
  11. The situation you describe was not fear rp if the dude wasn't even on the same floor. If that person seriously argued you broke fear rp they are playing the fool. Having said that, fear RP prevents some truly nutty things from happening. I have situations all the time where we roll up on someone that's trying to run and we jump out to point guns at him and place him under arrest. Without fear RP, 100% of people would suicide by cop to avoid going to jail or try to fight their way out. If a gun is to your head and you try to pull out your own gun, you will be shot before you can do anything. While I don't agree with some of the edge cases of fear rp (like how you're expected to see people pointing a gun at you if you aren't looking in that direction), I think it does more good than bad.
  12. +1. It gets stale seeing everybody driving the same half a dozen cars.
  13. The reason officers are in such a rush to get you off a scene is because if we take the time to have in-depth RP y'all call in the boys to kill us.
  14. Used to be a thing but it turned into a way for criminals to hand in firearms they'd used for murders and robberies to get some of the cash they used to purchase it back into their pocket. Or they'd steal a gun from someone, empty all the bullets, and hand that in. The police department turned into a fence for stolen goods. And that's no bueno.
  15. If you want to hide it just get a bag like everybody else. When you roll by a bunch of dudes wearing gang colours, not one of them has a gun, but all of them have bags... what do you think they're carrying in there? Dog treats? If you want to be savvy and try to fool people you need to act with some common sense and actually try to keep up the act.
  16. Personally I'm of the mind that there should be at least some obscurity, because it gives people the impression that each rulebreak is "serious" rather than "no big deal." If you knew you were going to get jailed for 10 minutes for whatever offense and it's not considered "that bad," this triggers your brain to relax when it comes to your behaviour surrounding actions that would lead up to you doing that offense. If you aren't sure exactly how severe the punishment will be, you will be more wary of straying over the line.
  17. My question is, what's to prevent abuse of that system? You could just provoke a fight, kill all the officers, and then you know none of them will have heavy weapons for a long time which means you can act with even more impunity. Already people will roll up on police and say "drop weapons or die" over the pettiest of situations including traffic stops. To me, that sounds like a recipe for abuse. I get that people want consequences but I think this needs to be thought about with care.
  18. What sorts of measures would be taken to prevent abuse? Right now PD has OOC rules to prevent officers from stacking too many charges or falsely adding charges to somebody. What similar OOC restrictions would others observe to prevent abuse of law enforcement by rolling into every single arrest, traffic stop, or simple conversation and disrupting their RP trying to bait a fight, other than the server rules? This is a two-way street, and there's a conversation to be had, but right now my optimism is very low.
  19. Hope things tighten up around here.

    Racism

Ask folks OOC to stop their IC racism if it bothers you. I'm fairly sure most people are reasonable about this sort of thing.
  21. I agree with you, and I'd like to see those signatures you're talking about without having to manually switch off every second person because theirs takes up half the page. What you're suggesting would turn off the ones I want to see instead of only the egregious ones.
  22. He's salty because it's not the smallest thing, it's the biggest thing on the page.
  23. Reading through threads is a bit of a chore nowadays because I keep having to hide signatures that take up half the page as I'm scrolling through it. Please limit the size of signatures to be more reasonable instead of being three times the size of the average post.
