  1. Right now you can abuse the inventory system of bags and briefcases to put a bag inside a bag, inside a bag, inside a bag, forever. Like one of those nesting dolls. Each "layer" of bag can contain items and as far as I know can be stacked until you run out of patience. I've seen people have a briefcase filled with briefcases, and each case inside the first had a full inventory of items just so that player could circumvent and exploit the inventory space limits.
  2. Just as an aside, we don't have one. The Commissioner has access to one via the National Guard (which is a thing IC), and it's only used for specific situations.
  3. I'll give you an example of something dumb that happened. Yesterday there was a significant engagement with law enforcement where many officers were killed. In the aftermath we saved a bunch of people from death and were transporting them to Bolingbroke prison in a bus. Given that there was probably still a large number of gunmen looking to kill officers, the Commissioner decided to take out a vehicle with a mounted 50 caliber machine gun. During the transport, this vehicle is the last vehicle in our convoy with the gun pointing towards the rear. A guy drives up to us and receives commands to leave, and get back. He decides to ram the rear of this vehicle with the 50 cal pointing directly at him and he shouts back "n**** i am going this way." He receives another command to get back or he will be fired upon. He then decides to overtake the 50 cal and try to challenge this convoy transporting half a dozen cop killers and tries to make a break for Bolingbroke. Only after the 50 cal actively starts shooting warning shots at him does he pull over and stop. What am I to make of this? Is this guy just an idiot? Is this the crim mindset? I have no idea but you see people doing absolute donkey stuff like this all the time.
  4. You mean "free ticket away from 95% of pursuits." Every single criminal was driving one at one point, even gangs where it made no sense IC that they'd drive bikes like that. I didn't mind the drag but let's be honest, when every single person is using one, there's a problem.
  5. You can hide it, though. Use a bag or put it in your trunk. Many people choose not to and they say "how could this be happening to me?" when someone sees it.
  6. You'd think so, but many walk around with it openly. Maybe they'd run into fewer problems if they tried to hide it like in a bag or something.
  7. Perhaps if you stopped carrying a gun on your hip, that detective you hate would stop finding it and you wouldn't go to jail.
  8. It would just promote abuse where everyone will learn as many languages as possible and try to abuse the system and avoid people knowing what they're saying. Masks are already used way too often to take advantage of the alias and ID system to hide who you are, and there's no reason to think people won't also take advantage of this system to hide what they're saying.
  9. I'm a fan of removing the despawn altogether. Anyone that's had one look at Mission Row knows it turns into a mess as cars spawn into each other and everything is thrown in all directions. If this helps criminal gameplay too, all the better.
  10. You can only view the recording if you're physically standing at the camera. The camera's wires can also be cut to destroy the evidence. Otherwise it's a live feed, and an officer has to be standing at the station looking at it (which, let's be honest, very few officers do as many people come into Mission Row and complain they can't find an officer). There's only two locations you can do this as far as I know: at Mission Row and in Paleto Station. You also have to be looking at the right camera. I admit it's a powerful way to find people robbing stores, but the reality is most officers don't want to be standing around jerking off at the CCTV monitor when they could be out in the field roleplaying. I'd say out of all the stores police intercept while it's in progress, only about 5-10% of those we know about from cameras at most, and that's because there were other robberies earlier which prompted an officer to sit there looking for another one.
  11. +1. Sometimes we find ourselves transporting folks to the medbay and anything that makes it less painful for everyone involved is a good idea.
  12. Is it possible to have a script function that hides player IDs by default, and only have IDs come up if you type a command in? Really you only use player IDs if using other server commands like frisking or stabilizing etc that require player IDs... so if you could type in a command to have it come up for 30 seconds or so then disappear again it might be nice. You could also spot a metagamer looking for IDs real quick by looking at logs for folks spamming the command. Or at least reduce the range IDs appear at significantly. Really the masks have almost nothing to do about IC reasoning and everything to do about stopping people from looking at an alias they've put on you. There's a "reason" for it, if that makes sense.
  13. if you could hide a .50 theres no reason to use other guns. keeping the 50 visible but being able to hide other guns means theres actually a reason to use them. you'd never use anything else if the 50 "does everything."
  14. Pistols other than the 50 should return to being able to be concealed. This gives them a purpose and reason to be used.
  15. Again, I ask: what stops people from being abusive with this feature in place? I can engage in all the passive RP in the world, but this does nothing to stop half a dozen cars rolling up on me when I'm trying to RP, putting me under fear RP, and taking my weapons. There would be active incentive to do this if people thought they could get free weapons out of it. More people would start doing this if there was a reason to do so, and giving people weapons for doing it is that exact reason.
  16. My concern is it would provide even more incentive to kill officers. Right now people hold up police officers at odd times of the day for no reason other than they're bored and want to take an officer's radio, with absolutely no reason for it IC. People do this during low server population and honestly it gets nutty as hell. What assurances do I have that I won't be abused constantly if I decide to play at certain times of the day, especially when there is active incentive to do so because people can gain weapons?

  18. I think the criminal community would be healthier if there were more things to actually do. From my experience as an officer, a lot of criminals fall into the same patterns of activity with little variation beyond what color their clothes and cars are. Almost all criminals cook drugs or are involved in the drug trade in some capacity, because it's one of the few ways to actually make any kind of significant money. Selling guns is partly successful, but this is very limited due to official factions having a monopoly over imports so if you aren't an official faction you are permanently forced into small-time trade of pistols and ammunition and this assumes you're able to cheat the firearms license system. The biggest hurdle I've seen is official factions holding all the cards: if they don't want to deal with you or you don't want to deal with them for whatever reason, you cannot grow beyond beginner level. I honestly think you'd see far fewer random robberies and overall toxicity if there were more activities to plug into. While IC you can do all sorts of things like prostitution, street racing, embezzling, etc it's hard to keep things like this consistent and more importantly persistent beyond 1-off events. For example, if there was a scripted street racing activity that players could join, follow waypoints like you do at the DMV except against other players, and receive a payout I imagine many criminals would go for it. I also imagine this would promote IC rivalries to try and beat the bastards that always win. You can organize such a thing IC, but there's little consistency. A scripted activity provides that persistent thing people can do whenever they want and RP blooms from there.
  19. You used to be able to play songs using youtube videos with a codec value of less than 200 (viewable in "stats for nerds" on a video) however this workaround no longer functions. Some videos appear to work after a significant wait, however it doesn't play for anyone else except the person who switched it on.
  20. What worries me about this suggestion is going back to the old ways of not being able to even gas up your car without risking all of your items being robbed, your car stolen, and your hair cut. Those sorts of robberies are frustrating. You shouldn't have to have an armed escort to put some gas in your car. I think it's fine to adjust the rule to reduce the amount of OOC whining, but at the same time criminal roleplayers need to realize their own actions caused the rule to be introduced in the first place.
  21. I'd rather this change be entirely reversed and they never disappear. Cars beaming up to the mothership, only to reappear inside other cars if you log back in just ruins static locations, especially Mission Row.
  22. The high-speed interceptor is limited to pursuing a list of certain specific cars, otherwise it's against policy to deploy it. If you want police to stop using these supercars, stop using the vehicles it's needed for.
  23. The LSPD Investigations Bureau already investigates criminal activity and charges are regularly placed on players when a detective closes a case. Ask criminals if they've ever had SWAT hard stop their vehicle for no immediately apparent reason. Many people have had this happen to them and it's almost always because they were investigated and charges placed on them and SWAT came to collect. The reason you don't see "big newspaper headlines" is because Weazel doesn't report on it IC. Criminals already suffer significant financial losses both through fines attached to every crime they've been charged with, and items they lose upon going to prison. I'm not sure what else you want added, because an additional 15% total penalty right off the top of their savings seems a bit of a reach.
  24. If an officer in real life has you at gun point (in terms of the server, subject to fear RP), if you start reaching around in your pockets to get a radio to talk on it or change the frequency, 100% of officers will shoot you.
  25. +1, it would be nice to have civilian input into government functions. Right now at least in terms of LSPD, the final boss in the chain of command is the Commissioner's office, when in reality it would be some form of elected official like a mayor or governor. Having said that, there should be some form of ooc corruption rule similar to PD and SD to prevent abuse.
