    Truckers Update

I think they could incentive the player based trucker jobs to keep them a priority, but still add the server made trucker jobs to make it a regular place of employment. Maybe even have a truck for player based deliveries and a van for server based deliveries.
  2. I respect the thought put into the suggestion, but I feel like they could more effort into the legal jobs we have now. Mining when it first came into the server was great, the money was OP but you had a lot of activity there especially for civilians. Now you get the odd straggler. Fishing before that, you had a lot of people that used to go down to the Pier when it was located down there, you'd maybe get robbed but you'd interact with other players you wouldn't normally meet somewhere that wasn't the bank.
  3. I think in terms of this, we should just accept things as they are on both sides. You can complain the PD cruisers are buffed, but the PD high speed units (811, Zentorno and T20) are all stock vehicles and go around 195-205 in most places. We cannot buff those because it would buff everyone elses. A Gauntlet Hellfire for example can go 220.. 230.. I don't know about you guys, but personally a proper chase is great fun. I'm talking about when it's not just about speed, but tactics. Where to drive, what turn to take, when to slow down etc..
  4. Yeah, I agree. I have people get mad at me for the fee and it's like, I'm just here to give you your car. I don't decide the prices.
  5. I think it's important with discussions like this that it doesn't turn into a PD v. Criminal debate, because ultimately that leads nowhere but around in a circle. In terms of having way too many cops, the LSPD has had around 100-110 members for almost the entire time I've been here. We're literally cycling what we lose. This week we had an academy that brought six new people into our faction. This week we have had five resignations. The week before we had an academy and brought five new people into our faction. The week before we had six resignations. In terms of coverage, I get on around 3-4pm UTC and we have a lot of cops in that timezone but there is next to no calls. When I'm playing on my criminal at 2-3am UTC, there are hardly any cops on duty. In terms of criminals lacking content, couldn't agree with you more. Criminals haven't really had an update for a while, but then also, there are other areas of the server that haven't either. Bug fixes are necessary, but they don't really add to anything. Things just work as they were intended to, from that point on. You cannot judge law enforcement and criminal factions equally, because the roles are different. A microwave and a dishwasher are both kitchen appliances but they do have very different roles in the kitchen. I wouldn't want a dishwasher-sized microwave anymore than I'd want a microwave-sized dishwasher. I've spoke before about saturation of law enforcement in the server but I don't think this server needs more Zetas or more Triads in it's criminal eco-system. I think if anything it needs more gangs like the Ballas or WCA or Misfits to make things competitive and interesting. The focus on the amount of people in PD has tells me that both Zetas and Triads only see PD as any kind of genuine competition. That is not the right mentality to have at all, we're supposed to be the neutral third party. If someone commits a crime, we try and stop them, it's not personal. It just so happens that anything significant crime wise comes from either the Zetas or the Triads. You guys have made the decision to be allied and that's fine. You guys have made the decision to keep the other factions under the thumb with the tax system and that's fine. But in doing so, you have created an environment where the only real competition you have is the Police Departments. That's a decision you guys have made. I gotta tell you, if you weakened PD like you want, you'd be even more bored after a while because it would be like playing on easy mode. Honestly, instead of going back and forth like this. Faction Management should just get the leaders of the PDs and the official illegal factions in a discord channel and bang this out. Half the problems in this server come from people talking at each other instead of talking to one another.
  6. It won't go anywhere because sometimes we're ignorant to admit we're could be a problem. The issue isn't just numbers, it's coverage. Like with a lot of the features that get added, the full consequences aren't always considered. We shoehorned Sheriff's Department to Blaine County but that's where the majority of the criminal enterprises are. I'm not sure it was needed, it was a more a passion project. Not only do we then increase our numbers, we increase our map coverage. You were in PD before, you'd get the odd car out there but most people would be in the city until there was a call about a lab/chop shop. Which would even then give the criminals an extra few minutes to get in, do their stuff and get out. Now you have cops all over the city because they can't exit LS without permission and you've got Sheriffs in the county, but then they are patrolling areas where the criminal enterprises are (not necessarily inside) because there isn't much else going on out there besides farming. In addition, we are essentially sharing the same recruitment pool for both PD/SD and people are choosing between them, so the quality of applicant for PD/SD is more thinly spread and as a result, standards inevitably do drop a little. Who feels that standard drop the most? The criminals. There are other issues in the server, but cops are a part of it, whether we'll admit it or not.
  7. I like that, I'm glad that you guys are making some steps forwards. I'll have to see if I can find an invite for this next week
  8. At the end of the day, I think there are some underlying problems across the board that are hindering the server and since this is a discussion topic, I'll try and offer my insight into things. I've been very anti-criminal in the past, but once I made a criminal character and saw the other side of the community, it become apparent that there are some real flaws on both sides. > SD being a thing, probably shouldn't been a thing. We didn't need it, we don't need 146 police on a 250 population server. During the day, being in PD for activity is actually quite boring. If criminals are curious why SD bothers the labs and the chopshops so much, it's the same reason PD bothered the zeta store on Clinton Avenue so much, because we've spread things too thin trying to justify an expansion we didn't need. There are some good cops in SD, bring them over to PD and let them do highway patrol, then we can thin the herd of those cops in PD and SD that aren't up to scratch. It might be a roleplay server, but you have to supplement the meagre level roleplay you get from criminals here with gunfights and police chases. > The lack of development is a problem period, not just for criminals but in general. I'm grateful for the bug fixes but they aren't anything anyone is getting excited over. The suggestions forum has some really good suggestions but it's a meme at this point. There is never any feedback from those in charge about them, it's actually a pointless exercise. > Prison is the worst place on the server for roleplay. We can never and will never have a stable faction for the prison while it is the way it is. It reminds me of Sona from Prison Break, the guards stay outside while the inmates run the asylum. There is very little roleplay going on in there and sending someone there for hours.. you might as well take the admin jail. It is literally like the rules don't apply in there. People don't give a shit either because there is no reward system for good behaviour once inside and no punishment system for bad behaviour. > Uncapping Prison times was a colossal mistake as well and they should be recapped. > In terms of the Zetas and the Triads. I really ain't surprised that you are bored and I have respect for your factions but that's kind of as much your fault as it is PD hassling you or you not getting the criminal update. You guys turned on The Wanted and forced an active faction out of the server for role-play reasons and for what? There is literally no-one left that is going to be stupid enough to oppose you and that is very, very bad for the scene. Because you don't fight Zetas and you don't fight Triads, you fight them both. Something that at times even PD with all our goodies struggle to do. I know that there is role-play to support it and you can't just start fighting each other but i've said this before but no gang in the city should be allying up, it should be about you and your gangs alone. I think the simple fact is that PD/SD and The Council probably see each other as their only adversaries now. If PD wants to shut down any of the other factions, we can quite easy. When it's Zetas and/or Triads, then it's a challenge. Same thing goes for Zetas or Triads, when you guys were hunting The Wanted or even the Russians, it wasn't anywhere near the opposition that you get from PD. You need us and we need you the way things are. > The WCA/NLA war that is going on right now. In terms of activity, it's probably been the best thing to happen to both factions. In terms of the membership quality, the roleplay and the OOC standing in the server, it's probably been the worst thing. NLA have been jettisoned by the faction management team and WCA seem to catch their fair share of reports too. The thing about reports in this server is that it's not actually whether you are guilty or not that matters, it's the perception. > In terms of quality roleplay, this server isn't setup for it right now. Factions are about colours and/or numbers. People openly discuss criminal acts, they commit criminal acts in broad daylight, they are masked up constantly and riding around armed to the teeth. We actually had an official faction on this server CHAIN ROBBING police officers a few nights ago. The ones that can roleplay look at it and say "Fuck it, if that's what we have to do to make it, we'll do that instead." -- People wonder why they get raided. In my opinion, I don't know a lot about what the Investigations Bureau does but if they are any good, you guys make it way too fucking easy for them. > The use of /do. Constantly asking someone if they resist and getting them to answer you every time is legitimately retarded. It doesn't lead to good roleplaying scenarios at all. If you want good role-play, start using /me more. Describe your actions in detail, describe your environment. > Stop playing the rules and play your damn character. I'd rather roleplay with Darius Bivins scratching his nutsack or Karen trying to peel the flesh off my face with her knife than be on my criminal character with RoboCop #1 and RoboCop #2 or be on my PD character roleplaying with Joseph Jerkoff who thinks the sum of criminal roleplay is to call me a bald nonce and say the n word profusely. Ultimately, we need someone in the community to grab these situations by the bollocks and give things a good hard squeeze. Threads like these are a dime a dozen but things don't ever change and we never actually get any feedback.
  9. I've been playing on my alt recently and one of the things that I've noticed, is that when you have a brush with the law, which is unless you are lucky, inevitable, it ends up not just being costly in terms of the money you lost through the crime not working out, you also lose a portion of your savings through your imprisonment. Not to mention the actual time you'll spend off the streets in the prison. Prison times isn't the subject of this suggestion and i'd appreciate it if people didn't talk about them here, the suggestion is about the fine that comes with the sentence. Currently, we have a tax based salary system to help regulate the economy and while it's not perfect, I can understand the thinking behind it -- More money you have, the more tax. Prison however has no such system and I think when you read about the information below, you'll hopefully agree that there is a need for improvements in this area, particularly for low-life/newer criminals who are just starting out and trying to make some money, which in the server can be a big ask. I'm not suggesting for more experienced to have to pay more than they currently do. I'm suggesting that we apply similar logic to the prison fines system, like we do with the salary tax. If you have less assets, you'd pay less in fines on prison. Using that as an example The reduction there isn't necessarily so significant that it lessens the value of getting caught and that only applies to one charge. If you have multiple charges, then it's obviously going to save you from more but that reduction right there is the difference between being able to buy a radio or food and drink or to gas up your starter vehicle.
  10. The problem with sync makes a good love tap in some cases impossible, so how as an admin would you be able to judge that? We have too many rules that either make interacting weird or they're open to interpretation. Least if you know you can't use your vehicles against people on foot, there is a black and white line there.
  11. Date and time (provide timezone): 23/01 - 16:00 Character name: Dezzy Bala Issue/bug you are reporting: When you are filling at a gas station, if you cancel the animation by trying to get in a locked car, you can walk around and it keeps filling the car up. Expected behavior: If you cancel the animation, it should stop the filling. Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate: Go to a gas station. Turn off engine and lock your car. Start refilling the gas in your vehicle. Press F to try the handle of the vehicle. Walk around etc. Vehicle license plate number*: No relevant
  12. Honestly, I'd prefer /rps to /dice. Who here carries a dice around with them all day? While almost everyone has hands.
  13. They could copy-pasta the fuel gauge, move it up slightly and use the information from entity.getHeightAboveGround(); which can return the height in meters as the display.

  15. Pretty simple quality of life suggestion really. On /jtime, it just displays seconds. My suggestion is to add Hours and Minutes instead. Seconds is probably less important.
  16. They tax your earnings to try and take money out of the economy, interest would just inflate it further.
  17. On the one hand, it's a risky business using a lab. Part of the risk is that the police show up. On the other hand, it's kind of meme-y that a criminal operation is in random but specific locations around the map. I get it, the system isn't overly complicated and it's pretty simple to use once you have the information but inevitably it leads to issues like this. I don't think adding rules on this is any kind of answer and I don't think 'taking it IC' necessarily solves it either, because I imagine it verges on the borderline stupid. Imagine someone goes around to every drug lab to get them shut down, in real life the cops would detain him and be asking him how he knows all this stuff. Mobile Drug labs is the way forward, it even makes the snitching more of an art form.
  18. This album fucking slaps, time for me to retire.
  19. Okay OP, we will trade you being looted and frisked for our inventories if we can seize your cars, businesses and houses that you buy through profitting from organised crime.
  20. For me, it seems like trying to fix a half-measure with another half-measure and there's a few rules like that. "No ramming during an active shootout", I can see that getting twisted and abused and can taste the forum reports already. How about we just don't have people use their vehicles to try and kill people period. If you hit someone by accident, then it's fine, but if you are using your vehicle to hurt someone, that shouldn't be allowed IMO. I remember the SA:MP server where I came from, if you hit someone on purpose with your vehicle, it was classed as vehicle deathmatch. Intent is more important than the situation in my opinion.

    Nightclub NCZ's

You can rob a bank in real life. You can shoot someone in a hospital in real life. Yes there is an excessive amount of criminals and doesn't that tell you that it's probably better to not restrict the majority for the minority? It's offensive if you choose to see it that way, no crime zones are only to be used when criminal acts would be unrealistic. The level of scrunity at a bank, the amount of cameras and police at a hospital, the security of an impound or the amount of cops inside a police station. It doesn't apply for personal businesses and should not.

    Nightclub NCZ's

In terms of the suggestion, I don't mind temporary no-crime zones around big server events because often it's just about bringing people in the community together to have a good time. I ran one for Emergency Services back in December with a temporary NCZ and it went great. Now in terms of night clubs being a no-crime zone, I can't support it because it's a personal problem. That night-club is a profit venture for you. Part of the responsibility of running that night club is organising security for those visiting your venue. Having the server do that for you, makes it easier for you but also, it actually limits what people can do at the night-clubs. The Tavern was probably the most happening spot in the city on a Saturday Night for a good few weeks. Partly because it had all the big players in the criminal world there, but also because it was well ran and organised. They had the DJ, the security staff, the bar staff etc.. If there was trouble, it was dealt with quietly but because it was Zetas, people wouldn't touch the party. That being said, every time there was a call about trouble, PD went over there. I went over there a couple times to get people to move their vehicles or dealt with petty violence complaints. First of all, there are too many fucking night clubs in the server. You only really need one or two, because there is quite a bit of work that goes into it. Now people WRONGLY assume that just because they have a property, that they have a business. When trouble comes, they then want a force field around their business, where they will quite happily let the money come in, but don't want the risk that comes with it. If I owned a night club in this server, the first port of call for me would be Jay. Why? Because he's the leader of the biggest gang on the server and his faction runs the biggest night spot on the server. If I can work out an accommodation with him, then likely the Triads will be fine with it. If they Triads are fine with it, WCA are fine with it and so on and so on. The less big groups that would want to fuck me over, the better. The simple truth is that, in a lot of suggestions like this, you expect the server to adapt to you, not the other way around. I'm a Sergeant in the PD, I'd say I was pretty well known around the server but there are things eveb I won't do. I don't park outside clothing stores, I don't carry with me an excessive amount of personal items etc.. I watch myself every time I'm not in my police vehicle. You know why? Because i've adapted to the server. If you want to run a business or have a house or do a job or drive a nice car or whatever, you have to be prepared for the possibility that unless you are a big fish and you're capable of defending yourself that anyone from a zeta/triad gang member to a brand new to the server low-life is going to try and test you. If you using No Crime Zones to shelter you from the world, you ain't roleplaying in it.
  23. Bit disappointed that no staff members have commented to be honest.
  24. I covered this a little on my discussion topic but I feel like the way it's setup, if you a criminal and you're actively fighting people, punishments are almost a given at some point. You only have to shoot somebody in the heat of the moment or not act a certain way when you've got a gun on you and six hours later on are on the forums six hours later explaining yourself. In PD, it's a lot easier. You just to have to be able to justify the use of force. You only shoot when you or someone else is in danger. You are never actively looking to kill someone, so there is a safety blanket there. Criminals don't have that and they will get into situations where it's kill or be killed but if they don't act right in that moment, they are screwed. I do PD and WCA right now and I can only half-criminal, because any punishment I get will affect me on PD. Depending on the punishment, I think if you go a certain amount of time staying out of trouble, you should be able to apply to get a punishment overturned, even if it was legitimate and the appeal was rejected. You don't want to let people off too easy but at the same time, they are more willing to work positively with a more considerate punishment system. No reason why most player can't alter their behaviour and make amends for past mistakes. That being said if it's clear that a person can't conform to the rules of the server, they should be permanently banned and never allowed back. Playing with bad players, makes more bad players and a bad community. The process must be reasonable and transparent, one we are all subject to and all aware of.
  25. I think that might be a slight over-exaggeration on your part there Zilian. Speaking as someone on the other end of that 911 call, the calls are usually calls about the impound, someone getting their car robbed or some other low level thing. When I talk about role-playing in an area, it doesn't just have to be criminal. Could be something as simple as hanging out at a store, doing a car meet etc.. obviously if you are holding people up then cops are going to get called, but the limitations to what you can do are your limitations, not other peoples. Think outside the box, do something different etc..
