I like you @Bakmeel and I think you and faction management have the best interests of criminal RP in mind but to be blunt, I think you’re wasting your time with whatever you do aside from making factions official or not. You talk about adjusting the old war system but in truth, it’s the servers attitude towards violent interactions that needs to adjust. There isn’t enough rope for criminal factions to act like criminals, without catching a DM. There was a genuine fear, or at least there was a few months ago that factions didn’t want to do anything to each other for fear of punishments from an admin team that abhorred violence. We became the Sims RP. When it comes to the turfs, I think in hindsight it’s the single worst thing that we have ever done in the server and it should be binned off at the earliest attempt. The turf system has lead to the chain bank robberies and all their associated problems. You are asking factions to stick to their lore and create turfs in areas that make sense for them but these are factions that have little to no sense of identity. They have no real sense of a character as individuals, let alone as a collective. It’s just about what RGB to paint the car colours and what clothes to wear. Everyone plays themselves and says what they themselves are thinking. Faction Lore is like putting lipstick on a pig. It amounts to ‘this faction is x because they have an x sounding name’ or ‘this faction is this but they’ll take out their phones and record stuff and say things that don’t make any sense’. I have tried to bring forward player faction clothing for the official factions and alter their areas that they hang visually to better reflection the Eclipse universe we roleplay in but I’ve received next to no encouragement or interaction with FM regarding that, only complaints that I’m doing it in the first place. I’m literally offering content to the server and the response I get is negative.. what? I said it at the start of last year and I said it at the start of this. There are three underlying issues facing criminal factions on this server and addressing anything else is like flying a kite in a hurricane. - Server Attitude towards criminals doing criminal shit. - Existing systems for criminal role players either encouraging behaviour that isn’t grounded in RP, has little to no variation with a lot of repetition or that specifically tries to exploit the meta. - Lack of new criminal content over the past 18 months, that encourages re-engagement, activity and investment in characters/factions. People and Faction just exist until they either get banned or finally phase out of ECRP. I consider myself glad I don’t play as a criminal, because I’d have to continuously do the same thing every day whether I wanted to or not to maintain my faction. When I got caught, I’d have to go to a place on the server where there is little to nothing to do on the server for a few hours aside from likely get screamed at or punched. Should I actually win a situation, I’d probably have to spend the next day defending my actions on the forums because someone can’t take an L without complaining. Faction Management isn’t too strict, it’s just currently too obsolete to make a real difference. The real things that need to be addressed, cannot be addressed by faction management or by the staff team or me for that matter. Until that happens, it’s just putting out fires until the next one catches.

I'll keep it a buck, there's been a number of times since we had that last exodus of MD people where PD has had to chip in and cover them MD calls, so from a supply/demand and game POV, most people are going to be glad that anyone is responding, regardless of their faction. Go to an emergency room in the United States with a gun-shot wound and I'm 99% sure the medics have to inform law enforcement and there isn't no two minute trip to the hospital then you're back on your dirtbike like in-game here. I'll be honest, I hate being involved in medical role-play. I hate having to take people to the hospital because inevitably I'm going to have to roleplay something I know nothing about to then have to tazer someone when i drop them off so they can move again. I also hate medical role-play being done to me, I find it like watching paint dry. That being said, to those people that devote their time to medic RP and enjoy it, I take my hat off. If we can get more of those people in MD and can guarentee that MD can keep up with the load then it's no skin off my nose if MD calls just go to them. Could always introduce an IC policy where medics have to inform law enforcement over the radio when they come across a gun shot victim.

Damn this had some fucking sexy ideas huh.

License Suspension should not last for 24hours.
Bala replied to Sico's topic in Implemented Suggestions
It was reduced to 24 hours from 48. You want no consequences for breaking the law or something? -
Not going to speak about what PD does, does not do nor speak for the rest of the faction in these situations, as I've been asked not to. That being said, from a gameplay point of view, the bank robberies are unfortunately a railroad to nowhere. A combination of criminals not having enough scripted support to do criminal activity, the reward of packed money from banks in terms of turf influence, the banks only having one entrance, the frequency of robberies of these locations, there only being four scripted locations for these things to take place and the change to the hostage rules lead to a shit-storm. It's just my opinion, I genuinely believe that no one enjoys these bank robberies any-more and there isn't a combination of rules and regulations that can fix the mechanic. I had asked the higher ups to consider removing the Bank NCZs in Paleto and more importantly LS Bank, to make things more interesting long term, but that was turned down because the standard of these situations are so low and argument provoking, which makes it feel like a vicious circle. In order for improvement, there needs to be change and people won't change by themselves. Bank robberies need to be re-worked in my view. They need to be less frequent but not as necessarily a consequence to crims for them being less frequent, the bank have other reasons for people to go there (such as actual banking features, atm refill job working inside etc) so the intent of occupants inside is in doubt, the three other banks being added in with slight increases in payout to account for risk (Paleto/Legion/LS Bank), cameras that can be viewed inside the bank, different tools to add variety to breaking into the vault etc.. There is no variety for anyone involved, it's the same thing over and over and over. That is not just the biggest problem, that is the root cause of these issues.

I might be wrong but I don't think the car dirt on RAGE is synced.
-
Leaning forward makes sense, popping wheelies and increasing speed doesn’t really. But then I only ride the bus IRL so what do I know
-
Big -1, it's a perk of being an official faction and should stay that way. I'm not totally convinced that some of these unofficial factions should even exist on the server half the time, so giving them something like this would be a hard pass from me.

It's just about using your loaf really. Everyone knows that servers like GTA World or No Pixel exist, you aren't going to get into trouble for just saying the name of a server. What does tend to cross the line is when you start negatively comparing Eclipse to them i.e. "such and such is better than Eclipse" and definitely stuff along the lines of suggesting people try other RAGE-MP servers. In the case of FiveM or SA:MP, they are different mods/games. No competition for Eclipse whatsoever. There are a number of people that came from NGG. Me and a few others came from Valhalla when it comes to SA:MP. Just don't really talk about RAGE-MP voice servers or start suggesting people play those servers and I think you're good.

There are other ways to display lethal force than shooting. If you ram a PD car in a chase, you'll get demands to stop. If you don't, you'll get your tires taken. If people are trying to kill people out right in these situations then that's obviously wrong but 99% of the times i've been involved in these kinds of situations, it's been to take tires and disable the vehicle. That shouldn't be taken away but at the same time, if you're going for a lethal option as a cop and you don't have DM rights, then you should recieve a punishment like any other player. As a cop on the server, it's actually a lot easier not to get a DM because we have the server rules AND our own rules.

Not really sure that "If you do the crime you should do the time." works when you are reliant on your criminals for action for the cops. I don't personally have any issue with the crimes or the times, I think they are absolutely fine. BUT For me, it's the prison itself that needs to change. Being in prison shouldn't feel like an OOC punishment or an excuse to tab out and open netflix but the reality is, there is nothing really in there for people to do besides that. Half the people DMing in there are again doing it because they are bored. It's not a good situation for the crims and it's not a good situation for DOC either. I made some recommendations a while back regarding the prison which I think got implemented but it's clearly not a problem that will be fixed without significant development. If it was me, I'd increase the misdemeanour times that are under say 10-15 minutes to 20 and stop using the jail cells at Mission Row / Paleto. Prisoners aren't going to be interacted with in those locations, they don't have anything to do but idle in their cell, might as well get them into an environment where they can interact with other players and move around. From the development side; Adding a couple little freelance activities to the prison would help and tweaking the amount that they pay out. Whether that's like cooking or laundry or whatever. The current mining activity is a bit of a poor copy-paste of the regular mining job. Adding in a prison inventory for the player, to place anywhere inside the prison where RPly there would be a spot to hide it. As long as a prisoner was in prison, anyone could interact with the prison inventory for that person if they were in the right place. Being able to fashion weapons using certain items would be good, but a long term thing for the prisoner, they'd have to make a shank over time and out of view of guards and such. Think of it a little bit like reversing drinking a water bottle. The more times you use the piece of metal, the more you make it into a shank. Once the shank is complete, you have a knife. Fix the poker table. Adding different colour uniforms for the prisoners based on their category.

I'll circle back to my argument in another thread that people want to hold onto realism when it suits their argument, but when it doesn't, they'll say it's a game. We have a force matrix to follow IC and we also have server rules on deathmatching OOC. Both of those were thought up and ultimately enforced by the highest levels of administration on the server. To an extent, what any of us think it should be is irrelevant since it's their rules we're playing to. If someone breaks the force matrix, it does get handled in-character and it is something that PD takes seriously. I know that for a fact because I suspended like six people at once for doing it a few months back. To say we don't starts to get a little bit insulting. But at the same time, this is a server where everyone robs a bank with a BF400 before heading for the nearest mountain and every criminal drives maximum speed everywhere. I'm not really sure what you want from a police department in that kind of server. If we go the realism route, then people will get shot more.
-
It should also be included in the vehicle mods at LSC and Bayview. Makes little sense that you can fit a car radio but a mechanic can't.
-
Think it depends on you. If you’ve got a gun on your back or in your hand, aiming a gun is justified. You don’t want to give someone a chance to shoot. That being said, most cops would use the taser if there’s no active thread.

I don't like the arguments of "well, RPly there would be people there" because it gets to a point where people are starting to make up their own rules as they go. How can someone say where fictional NPCs would be or not be as justification to punish someone? End of the day, we don't PIT in heavy built up areas and we escalate to disable vehicles when they are ramming or doing whatever. There's a surprising amount of restraint that normally goes into these situations. Not 100% all the time of course because people fuck up, but most times, people do it by the standards set. I think the frustrations of some of you towards PD/SD is misguided in all honesty and often we're seen as the enemy because the prison experience isn't rewarding and because we follow slightly different rules to you guys. But that's not our fault, we do what we can with what we have. Someone brought up about that criminals and punishments for shooting and I'll keep it a buck on that, the staff team has a scuffed attitude to criminal violence and I do sometimes wonder what server they think this is. I think being an active criminal faction has become almost impossible to play here now without getting yourself punished for something and it can feel like the game is rigged at times, for people who enjoy that part of the action. We have seemingly traded the unpredictability of 2019's Eclipse where things admittedly were borderline out of control but exciting to 2021's Eclipse where we seem to have put on our pyjamas, settled by the fire for the night and we have to fill out a ten page application before someone gets smoked. Then we wonder why the fun has gone. I got no problem with criminals trying to get away or trying to end me personally, they doing what they are supposed to do. I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing by trying to catch them. That's the purest version of criminals/cops. You try something, if it don't work, take the L and get them next time. There ends up being a lot of back and forth on these threads but people miss the point, crims and cops, we fuckin' need each other to make this shit work. I need you to be a criminal to do my stuff. All I want is to get my RP in, enjoy some action, have a laugh and log off. I think that's the experience EVERYONE wants that plays here. But how many of us now are constantly worrying about getting reported every time we do so much as sneeze in the server right now.
-
Fully disagree. If anything, our force continuum is the pussy version of the real LAPD force matrix so can't really use the realism argument.
-
Only a few more days and it won't be a problem any more
-
I'm not in SD, even though I've heard through the grape that it's the best D but from the outside, I'm not sure that there would be enough RP derived from just hunting to sustain even a division within a department to be completely honest. Nice idea but I think there was a window where it might have made sense for the server but that went a while back.

Impound is already at times, a frustrating situation for players, more so now that there are less cops available. Going there, waiting, getting someone to come there finally to then be told you have to pay your fines at Mission Row or Paleto then go back and start the cycle again is needlessly inconvenient. It's not one of those 'teachable' hurr durr moments where the criminal gets fucked over because they chose a life of crime, it's just a poor game mechanic. The point of the citation in-character is to tax them for breaking the law, it's not necessarily to waste their time. So, wireless paying through an application on the phone achieves two things; Makes it more convenient AND more likely for someone to pay a fine they've received. Adds an extra reason to use the phone. Dawpi don't even go here any more and he still gets it.
-
Honestly, I think just having it as an app on your phone and be able to do it anywhere makes the most sense. In 2021/2022, I'm sure governments or DMVs would let you pay online 100%.

I agree with these suggestions, the building system has gotten better but it could still improve. I'd throw in the following though. Being able to purchase extra interior objects for your builds up to a certain point with $$$. Maybe your build is set to like 500 objects max, at that point, adding an extra 25.. 50.. 100 objects isn't that deep. /removelastfurniture I'm assuming that each piece of furniture in the server has a unique ID. It's simple, check the ID of the furniture and whether you have perms for it's associated interior, if you do, you can delete it if you are inside the interior. Some pieces of furniture, you can't access. Being able to purchase furniture from inside the interior, removing the furniture store. Honestly between the distance, fuel consumption and the inventory weight, it's an unnecessary inconvenience buying furniture in bulk and people don't roleplay/interact at the furniture stores anyway. Additional Tabs for the Furniture Store The unfortunate part of when I added so much more furniture was the tabs, especially misc got very full and objects get lost quite easy. Categorising the misc objects further would help.

Auctions/Raffles (plus IC RP) for non-super vehicles
Bala replied to Jleoni's topic in Game Suggestions
Isn't it like 300-400k currently though? That's chump change in our economy for a car. Not really sure why you'd need to auction that cost of car. -
Well, we've not got much of December left so the trees will be gone before that big ass signature of yours Vex.
