Id be down for this if it has no collision. there's already issues with people placing hobo shelters in uncommon places and it blocking vehicles at speed. without collision tho it could be cool. camp outs, festivals, that kind of stuff.

Theres alot of good meat on this suggestion, good points, good ideas. It does leave alot for FM to consider, ultimately this will go to them the decision wont be made on forums. but its also a LOT of work, alot of reorganisation, and a teething period while everyone gets used to the new rules. it could end up being cool. The biggest change for me would be gang members having to properly FRP while at war I.E not ruleplaying the DM rules and using them as a shield from attacks, forcing members to lay low or roll deep for safety in numbers etc. could be pretty interesting.

Welcome! Im guessing you already have a grasp of the basic concepts of GTA RP but theres a bunch of guides on the forums as well for that. heres a quick list of pointers i think are important to bear in mind: Voice chat is for IC (in character) Communication only. you should not make any references to this being a videogame while using voice chat, mostly because it craters immersion for everyone around you. If you need to talk OOCly, with a question or a problem or something like that, you can use text chat with the /b command or you can PM someone with the /pm [their id number] command. also if you are having trouble or are confused you can always speak to staff with the /report command. your character should have solid reasoning for their actions which make sense. this is not GTA online, where you can shoot whoever you feel like or blast through the city at 220MPH for no reason. there needs to be proper interaction and escalation for your character to take more and more drastic actions. Theres a ton of activities for you to do on the server to make money, legal and otherwise. however this server is very big on the "find out IC" rule, you shouldnt just be asking in OOC "how do i get a gun?" etc. make those connections organically in character and go from there. people will guide you and most are happy to help, but it has to be in character. INTERACT WITH PEOPLE. This is the biggest point that most new players wish they did sooner. the fun in RP comes with other players, talking with them, hanging out with them, doing jobs with them etc. that's where the good stuff happens, youll find yourself in all manner of situations with other players, laughing about it. Enjoy the city.

Only require checkups for flight school if the char has a condition
Quietthecutie replied to Lynn Foster's topic in Archive
I can see the argument that this is an IC issue, but then again, the reasoning only makes sense OOCly so I can see the reason for suggesting it here to be valid and I think that side the argument is better. If this went to LSEMS and SAAA icly, they would have almost no choice but to shoot it down. as a thorough medical examination would of course be required before being passed to fly IRL. OOCly however there are very good reasons to not require this or have it "done by an out of city clinic." -LSEMS is a pretty light faction. theres only so many people working there and only so many of them qualified for this kind of thing? I totally get the frustration that must come with being hounded either when you're off duty. -SAAA applicants will of course be frustrated when no one is on shift to do their examination as it holds back their application, resulting in them resorting to trying to track down persons when they are off duty, this is a bad look for the applicant and annoying for the MD player. -The RP in these examinations isnt really proper RP. or fun. its a simple backing and forthing between the doctor and the applicant. the answers barely deviate. theres no creativity here, nothing that couldnt be copy pasted. and the applicant isnt going to respond with anything interesting or unusual because they need to pass to get their wings thus they will give the most cookie cutter answers they can. overall I agree with the suggestion that they should be foregone. better yet if we were to take this IC, have the applicants fill out a questionnaire and then send them to "an out of state clinic" to have an examination done. you could justify this as MD outsourcing some of their less critical care to a private institution. If the applicant at that point wishes to actually engage in MD RP, they can indicate that by either presenting discrepancies on the questionnaire or at the clinic visit. -
shit while we are at it lets make tackling drop your weapon too.

As much as i wanna see a spicy taco economy, jesus cool ranch christ i dont think this would be realistic...also it would be legal items so LEOs would scoff them too it would be just one more thing for both to carry on their persons. i would be down to see buffs for non PVP related actions tho. Like i wanna see more motivation for people to go to burgershot, more reason for people to tacotruck. so im very down for incentives. i just dont think a PVP buff is the right answer...
-
At the same time i understand why passive income is a thing. Burgershot can have easily 6 people working there at times and whilst you wanna incentivise people to fill the orders asap you dont want them fighting eachother to do it. Having the passive income ticking away chills people out alot more regarding this and again to be fair its a job that is only as busy as the customers rolling in.

+1. Mining has always felt like an activity someone probably put alot of effort into and had big ideas to run with it, but they got to implementation and then never came back to it. Look at that UI, clearly there was more to this initially. needs a look at...
-
love the idea. prolly alot of work but its true that compared to BV or LSC Bennys is very cramped.
-
id be totally down with that too tbh. their strength right now comes in the fact you can instantly consume them. if they lost that but got a more powerful buff, fine.
-
I believe @Woot_beerfloat already submitted a good suggestion regarding this. +1 to it for realisim. but its gonna be unpopular as all crims will see it as a nerf.

Its a security checkpoint. your chances of escape rapidly go down the closer to it you go. not fun ill grant you but its valid RP and this is where criminals can deploy big brain, get on radio, get on their phones and be like "yo, SD are doing a checkpoint at DOC . dont go there" and there you go, crisis averted. the checkpoint dosent move and its never up for very long so youre just required to drive around it for the hour or so its up. no big deal. Im hearing alot of "gives DM rights" in general in this suggestion, which just sounds like ruleplaying. blocking the road is a legitimate tactic for law enforcement to use. its used in set locations, no TSD checkpoints outside sealabs or braddocks etc. you know where they set up. if you get caught welp i guess you shoulda been more cautious driving down the number 1 major arterial freeway in the state. I really dont know how you can look at this as unfair. its 1000% predictable and if you run into it while running hot you have no one to blame but yourself for not scouting it before going down a freeway in a car with hot items. Nonsense. This is a reactionary faction doing their job. its hardly powergaming for them to want to secure the busiest part of their juro. This is just factually incorrect and an ignorant statement. K9 Does not sniff every car at a TSD stop. They will however select cars and sniff them. there are strict rules regarding how many cars, what and how we search them to the point we let 4 stacked masked kamachos through without a sniff because, once more with feeling, we do not sniff every vehicle that comes through. This is slightly disappointing as I seem to remember on an alt you were a former K9 trainee. I would have hoped you would remember your training better that probable cause has nothing to do with an open air sniff. If probable cause was required, an OAS would not be, we could just ask you to step out of your vehicle at that point and forgoe the K9 altogether. All of this being backed up with IC actions, IC consequences. if you have an SIB file, ofcourse youre going to be a person of interest, once more, through your own actions. In summary I'm not sure what we could do to satisfy you. The primary complaint LEOs get is that they act as cowboys and a law onto themselves. Yet this is one of the most legitimate ways to conduct proper police work in the server. it requires alot of organisation, resources, manpower. it only covers a very specific part of the map. and it vastly reduces the amount of resources SD can put into other parts of their juro as a TSD stop requires 8-12 deputies, meaning that the opportunities else ware are extremely lucrative.

[DISCUSSION] The Pier Restoration and Hotspot Project
Quietthecutie replied to Bala's topic in Discussions
Comments above. Frankly i dont think any of these things flat out killed the pier, what killed it was fishing no longer being very viable as a moneymaker. Understand that while pier was a socialising hotspot, it was only possible as people were reliably there working, meaning people would pop down to see who is around, which generated the social aspect. with improvements to burgershot and roadworkers fishing became inefficient and frankly boring, as it dosent offer the interaction that the other freelance jobs does. setting that aside. I am hopeful most of these concerns have been addressed...the biggest outstanding problem seems to be getting people down to the pier, not keeping them there due to restrictions by law enforcement, which are largely no longer a thing. With regards to fishing i know in the pipeline there are improvements with both the general function of fishing as well as prices and even RPG stats for improvement. all of this is in the works so im told so, hopefully, we will soon be in a position where people will once more have reason to flock to the pier.- 39 replies

If the rule already exists then submit your reports. nothing needs to be changed according to you. Have you ever reported someone at DOC for being AFK? how did that go? An argument could be made that DOC isnt a public area. for starters its quite literally fenced off with its own private security force. And if an inmate goes into one of the cells, lies down on the bed, then they are effectively asleep. bonus points if you ask a CO to lock you in. at any rate youd find it quite uncommon for someone to be reported for AFKing unless its in a situation/location where you are absolutely required to be active, such as roadworks, burgershot, on the job, in an active RP op or at an event basically. moreover the player cannot choose to leave DOC when they like, they are locked in. so once again, not a public area that they can choose to vacate as they please. So whilst you might be technically correct, that's all it is. a technicality. People go afk at say, legion square all the time, just sitting on the little parking booth, do you report those people? Its enlightening to know you RP as a CO, as it gives a little more background as to where this suggestion is coming from. and i feel you, it must be bored working there particularly at demon hours. but thats not the prisoners fault. if you wanna see an uptick in activity, I would be taking it to LFM as a suggestion for DOC development, not the suggestion board for punishments. thats backwards thinking imo.
-
I think the solution should instead be on improving the DOC experience, giving inmates more things to do, making them worth doing and encouraging people not to AFK through that instead of punishing the player for the servers lack of development on this.. Your problem would still be solved but it would instead be a positive change.

Increase car spawns for chops
Quietthecutie replied to Harshay_Agarwal's topic in Criminal Suggestions
My understanding of the current system is its a set spawn rate. with very little fluctuation. what this means is that at peak times when the server is popping the pickings are going to be noticeably slimmer. the other side of that coin is when the server is quieter there are chop cars absolutely everywhere. What I would like to see is the spawn rate be tied to the server pop. so that if there are say 300 people on the server, the spawn rate is much higher than if there is say 50 people on the server. this would fix the issue of getting on at peak time and being unable to chop because theres already maybe 3 gangs scouring the map for chop cars. -
Sorta answered your own question here. is it realistic? no, dont be daft but from a gameplay perspective it makes sense. Yup, again logically it makes no sense, but from a gameplay perspective, it does make sense. in current state of game cop checks gun, sees the mods, adds the charge. if we wanted to get into it yeah, we could create a new charge of idk "posession of military grade ammunition" or something like that, but that feels like way too much in the weeds detail. the TLDR is it looks like a mod and functions like a mod, so we just class it as a mod. not to mention if we made a new charge for illegal ammo then that would stack on top of weapons mods. Making something more expensive does not equal making it balanced. people raise valid concerns about combining extended/drum mags with specialist ammunition.

Im not sure about the idea of a dedicated "cheater taskforce." This falls under staffs remit and im fairly sure cheat investigation was/is/always will be a high priority task. however, due to the nature of cheaters, its best to keep details as vague as possible as being more specific lets the cheater know how to better go undetected. this dosent mean things aint happening behind the scenes. Ye, its frustrating, and its totally plausable that during the merger alot of hitherto unknown cheaters flooded the server. but that was a mass influx. so a spike in cheating isnt unusual considering that. give the system time to catch up, the spike will go back down.

fixing a car without needing the owner to do it.
Quietthecutie replied to Kosminis's topic in Civilian Suggestions
I think it would be very possible. I think the reason it hasn't been implemented is to stop orgs having a "pool" of cars that everyone has keys to and can pull. repair and use as they see fit like a glorified hertz even if the actual owner has not been active in quite some time. -
+1. would be cool and avoid the awkward silences between songs. bonus points if you can add youtube playlists.

Make it NRP to check UI's on houses for robberies
Quietthecutie replied to Chazaa's topic in Rules Suggestions
been suggested to death and god dammit im still +1ing it. setting aside the NRP argument which has been covered. its also incredibly poor from a gameplay perspective. the robber has to commit significant assets to even have a chance to successfully rob (drill, money for the location, transportation, crates, weed etc. all in all easily 30-40k.) Its alot of organisation and planning. This can all be immediately gimped in an instant by someone just riding around vinewood on a bf checking each wi on each door. Terrible experience. -
Remove the hairstyle when wearing a full head mask.
Quietthecutie replied to Shining0103's topic in Game Suggestions
I mean this has been an issue since long before the clothing update, right? +1 but only for obvious full face covering masks, like the tshirt mask. Dont want my crim going all brittney spears just cus she popped a bandana on
