Marked money, not packed cash. sfaik dealers dont take marked money, you wash it and unpack it for just plain old cash. it cant be used to upkeep. In other words, crims holding a lab cant just ferry drugs to and from their lab and dealers. they will have to also stop at a wash to also clean the marked money they get back from their dealer. washing as it currently works is often skipped by orgs as not worth the risk. adding another step along the way where a separate gang can look to intercept. keeping them visible in the city for longer and opening up possibilities for ambushes and tracking them. Where you fall on this suggestion will probably depend on how happy you are with the current lab status quo, which is only natural.

maybe an easier way to accomplish that goal of not just printing cash at labs would be to have your dealer pay you in marked money (larger stacks of it than currently available) which you then have to launder. The laundering process IRL is literally all about turning criminal money into clean taxable income so the IRS and police dosent raise any red flags as to where it came from. i know on our server it just means a quick stop off at a wash but it would still achieve what youre suggesting Ritchie. it would slow down the printing process and give another location for rival gangs to fight and RP over, get them on the map in more public areas.

Make it Non-Rp to randomly search vehicles.
Quietthecutie replied to Jordan's topic in Rules Suggestions
I disagree. and thats the entire point of the discussion. Where is this inferiority complex coming from? Again, why the additude? have i done something wrong or struck a nerve? Not necessarily. Not everyone uses their vehicles like a glorified armoury. most people would have a couple of odd items, maybe a gun in the glovebox. that kind of thing. Im fine with consequences, just not people abusing the script with 0 roleplay for a quick snatch and grab which makes 0 sense. as i said, if you wanna rob someone at parking, and have the correct reasoning and escalation to do that (i.e youve seen them using this car as a stash) go for it, wait til he pulls out his car, and hes fair game for an actual robbery. theres your consequences. -
If they dont follow through with the report, then it would be down on the other party to report them for...not reporting them? Surely you can see the flaw in this logic... I agree with what you are suggesting in principle but in practice it would just be such a mess imo. requires the other party to iniate a report for a situation which otherwise would not be looked at. 90% of people wont do this... Not to mention it adds another layer to the cake of reports which is frankly. not needed. we already get enough petty reports and i dont think this would help matters (im not saying reports for people screaming /b save pov are instantly petty but you understand how people will see this as another avenue to report edgecases. which generally, do not warrant a full report.) Ultimately i think @Eliza has the best of it. if they dont take any action then neither do you and you dont have to worry about their cries of /b SAVE POV. people with toxic mentalities are quickly noted by staff regardless of reports. they are always watching for this kind of stuff.
-
I agree with you, i do. the point i want to push is how? like how do you want to push this, do you think that every person who bangs out a "/b save pov" should be hit with a DSO? or do you think there should be an OOC timer starting from when they say /b save pov. Like where does this end? just feels like a snake eating its own tail tbh. surely the best thing to do is to welcome it, let them be the victim of their own demise, then break the cycle, no? if people wanna lob in invalid reports against you surely its no skin off your nose to rebut them. admins know what a petty report looks like and will sort it? How do we actually combat this effectively. what's the plan? I dont want this to just be a neverending circlejerk like so many suggestions. lets keep it to the points of what can actually be actioned, controlled and monitored by staff.

Public RP Appreciation on Discord and Forums
Quietthecutie replied to Dapph's topic in Forum Suggestions
This is a fantastic idea. It wont get as much traction as others, as it isn't about immediate gratification or change. but it would be a great way to reward/recognise members of the community who ultimately, are the ones who make the server fun. I could and would nominate a ton of players, across multiple characters, who oftentimes make my day when I interact with them. I wish the /goodrp command had more power (as it doesn't seem to have much now.) but perhaps this suggestion could change that. If they were to suddenly decide to sstop playing, or went to another server, like so many people with less skin in the game do, they would be sorely missed and the server would feel it. We should look for more ways to encourage positive activity in the server, instead of just more ways to punish poor activity or generate the same old conflicts. -
My opinions: -If implemented without restrictions, it would vastly unbalance the economy. Many people with powerful positions and a lot of time on this server have banked up 10s of millions of dollars. allowing them to throw all that in a savings account and make dividends in a month or so would just be so much extra money splooged on the server. -If implemented with the restrictions you propose, to the level of stopping this being a problem, it wouldnt be worth the time or effort to code and develop, for the difference it would make. the dev team for the server is tiny and needs to focus on what makes the biggest impact. Finally, a little history lesson. You had to say it . Over the past few years Devs have been on a warpath specifically to remove passive income on all but a very minor scale. cooking in properties, cooking in RVs, nerfs to casino, changes to numerous other jobs and activities to encourage people to ACTIVELY make money. The reason they do this is because it makes the server feel more alive. you want cash? get out there and earn it. no free rides.

I think the "effort required" part of this suggestion is why I agree with it. unlike something like burgershot, roadworkers, even fishing, mining and oil extraction. this isnt something you can tune your head out for as any second youre not driving is a second youre not making money. In all those other jobs listed there is downtime where you can either completely zone out, or youre just doing an easy circle minigame. If anything I think Bus Driving should be one of the most high paid part time jobs because of this.

Its annoying, when people take it straight to /b. but people are already actively told to try and be respectful and unintrusive when it comes to asking people to save. Theres plenty of guidance out there, admins call that shit out in reports. 90% of players know they shouldnt use /b if possible but do it as a snap reaction to what they feel as an injustice. Same reasoning as people just dropping a report on anything on the off chance they get their shit refunded back. people just fishing. As for what else can be done about it. genuinely unsure. you wanna start slapping DSOs and OOC Toxicitys on anyone who calls out /b SAVE POV? Dunno how youd expect that to be enforced and even if it could be, its a minor infraction. Personally, I get a chuckle out of it. If they wanna be like that, its no skin off my nose and it just displays they are OOCly upset with the outcome. Im sure staff already have a very good picture about who to look out for when it comes to /b SAVE POV or other nonsense.

even back in those times. when DOC could be quite lucrative, that at least generated conflict and RP within DOC as people looked to rob other peoples stamps. that was objectively better than 95% of people just going AFK as soon as their jtime starts.

In its current state, per @Demonmit1s very good explanation, basically every game at the casino is rigged (much more heavily than irl, i like your 60/40 estimation it feels about right.) the devs probably thought this necessary as whilst the casino is very pretty and a lot of work went into it, when they actually released it people were making fat stacks of cash on lucky runs (as also happens in real casinos. but the bets people were putting down were just disproportionately high but people wernt playing long enough for the house always wins mechanics to kick in.) people lost also but the devs probably didn't want the casino turning into a place people would sink hours upon hours into just sitting at a table as its a NCZ and it reduces tangible activity in the city. they built a casino but dont want people treating it like casinos function IRL. In other words, they put a lot of time and effort into this thing, then realised it might not have been the best idea, felt they had no choice but to nerf it, and now we have this white elephant. a beautiful sprawling casino that is mostly dead because everyone knows you go there to lose money. The one exception to this is poker, as its P2P. you're not playing the house. but the script is so painfully slow most people cant be arsed. there's a reason online poker sites don't simulate a dealer they just bang the cards out. In summary the Casino was a mammoth project that when implemented fell apart almost immediately.
-
Once again, i would be down for literally any content to be added to DOC. literally anything. i will take anything i can get right now. anything will do. DOC has had nothing added other than cosmetic changes for years and its actually regressed when they lost their poker table so yeah any contributions would be appriciated. DOC has turned into a glorified afk petting zoo due to the nerfs to tickets and the removal of the poker table basically negating any interest people may have had to engage in prison RP so like a man dying of thirst being passed a sweat soaked gymsock, anything would help.

Make it Non-Rp to randomly search vehicles.
Quietthecutie replied to Jordan's topic in Rules Suggestions
Once again... I think you may wanna read the suggestion again... this has nothing to do with leaving valuables in your car...its to do with you being there, with your car, and someone totally disregarding that. Its the same shit as someone trying to get into your car as you unlock it to get into it yourself. If someone wishes to be a committed asshole, they can keep this up for an unreasonably long time. -
Ive seen the "become dog" script trialled out a bunch of times at events etc. its very exciting! With regards to the RP having no script support. its true it has virtually none and is totally reliant on the Handler and their /me /do rp skills along with the /petfollow command to try and rp both as themselves and their K9 at the same time. It is at times exhausing but i always try to give Mango some agency and its always very fun and satisfying when other people around buy into it and rp back. there IS definately a desire for this RP to happen. and i would love additional script support to do this!

make flatbeds availble to be bought
Quietthecutie replied to Harshay_Agarwal's topic in Civilian Suggestions
In its current state the flatbed script allows almost any vehicle to be lifted at any tine so long as its stationary and you can reverse up to it. Im sure you can see how easily abused that would be. Also we are running into both metagaming and faction issues. the faction issue is currently Mechanics are the only faction that can use flatbeds aside from law enforcement, who (much like when they /stabilize cus no MD on) will only pull them to recover totalled vehicles when no mechanics are available. If suddenly anyone was able to tow their vehicles mechanics would get a marked drop in call outs. There's also the metagaming problem of vehicles being towed are extremely visible, drive past an LEO and despite it being a pretty innocent sight of a flatbed recovering a vehicle, they might not be able to resist the temptation to scan the towed vehicles plate and check it out. Im not saying that would happen, only that it could. the benefit of the mule is that it hides the vehicle properly so this cant happen. -
Make GPS’s a locked item in faction vehicles

/me removes the OBD2 plugs connected to the extension splitter lead at the main port. Problem solved. ill keep that next to my /me smashes the bodycam, utterly obliterating it and the SD card within. -
Make GPS’s a locked item in faction vehicles
Quietthecutie replied to quixotic's topic in Game Suggestions
If i had the power to push through one update, just one update through to completion automatically, it would be to replace that god damn circle with a collection of among us style minigames for various tasks, connecting wires, removing wheel nuts, picking locks etc. It would revitalise the server and add a lot more agency to jobs like mechanic. -
Make GPS’s a locked item in faction vehicles
Quietthecutie replied to quixotic's topic in Game Suggestions
Outside of LEOs/Gov not wanting crims to be able to make their stolen cruisers untraceable I really don't see the benefit. Rply yeah a tracker would be much harder to get out of a police/government vehicle. it would probably take some time and some tools. but for the most part removing a GPS and stealing a neglected cruiser is harmless fun. even more so when they forget to take out the GPS and then Pikachu face when 3 cruisers roll up on them at their chop spot. -
Id be down for a lot of the limited vehicles to make seasonal comebacks in the shop. maybe not the meta ones, but if you wanna purchase something purely for the drip, wheres the harm? existing asset and money for the server.

PD/SD pushing labs too much unrealistically
Quietthecutie replied to Machaa's topic in Criminal Suggestions
Whilst I respect your right to be wrong, railing on the organisations that have the highest RP standards and highest barriers for entry in the community, presenting 0 evidence and simply spouting wild accusations and conjecture in a frankly condescending manner is not constructive in the slightest. If you have an issue with how PD/SD deal with labs, you are free to either file a report, take it to LFM or submit an IA and present actual evidence of it happening. otherwise this wont go anywhere. -
PD/SD pushing labs too much unrealistically

We have been here many times before my dude. we have danced this dance so often my feet are sore. and yet somehow theres still bloody loads of crims. must be doing something right... -
PD/SD pushing labs too much unrealistically
Quietthecutie replied to Machaa's topic in Criminal Suggestions
LEOs use a number of methods to track and investigate. this goes way beyond just shots being fired and no phones. simply switching your phone off and popping a silencer on is not enough to guarantee that cops are not aware of your activities. the rest is IC info. This is a wild statement. the LEOs set out to do their job and their method of execution is subject not to themselves but to their environment. Yeah, The suggestion was largely laughed out of the room as Copium. Some crims just seem to think LEOs are targeting them and then make wild suggestions on forums like booting half a faction and then pikachu face when they are told no. some even call it a conspiracy. which always makes for good popcorn. This is Sorta the heart of this suggestion so lets get into it and im talking as someone with both an LEO and a crim so I see both sides. Whilst I admire your commitment to "realism" and by the way you are right cops do push more aggressively on this server than they would IRL, This isn't a bad thing, and its not law enforcements fault. Law enforcement are, say it with me... A REACTIONARY FACTON Part of being a reactionary faction is adapting to the challenges you face. LEOs push fast because if they didnt no crim would ever be caught, and moreover in this world going slower puts their lives in greater danger by exposing themselves for longer. its not realistic for gangbangers to deploy military machine guns to hold a small drug operation, but they do it. nor is it realistic for them to drive around in sportscars or kamachos either, but they do it. its not realistic to just melt into a bush like its not a very prickly, thorny, solid mass, but they do it. We accept this as players because we understand that its just part of the game. not everything will be 100% realistic. and thats okay. Finally, LEOs follow protocols. a lot of protocols and training. and a lot of oversight. Whilst exactly how well they follow them is an IC individual issue, they have certainly been given plenty of training. in SD alone we are talking a month of solid training, book reading, understanding of force continuum etc. and then after that ATD conduct further training. only this month we had specialist training RP ops regarding breaching and entering. There is protocols and organisation but its tuned to the server, not tuned to be 100% realistic. A lot happens on the LEO side that you dont see. they dont just clock on, afk and wait to hear shots. ...But it is a speed trap. that spot is on a major arterial freeway and its by far one of the best spots in the city to catch speeding vehicles. LEOs didnt choose to put a drug lab next to it, it aint their fault. Moreover no one from SD is checking to see if the labs even open. So far as im aware the requirements for shutting down any lab is quite high. because cops icly must remain unaware of the labs location, even if a shootout happens at a lab we would have to see people actually cooking on the tables to then become rply aware and shut it down. thats my understanding of the mechanic. Of course they do, its a videogame and shootouts are fun and exciting. They aren't doing anything wrong by enjoying themselves. I dont know how you expect us to address this. this is a videogame, and particularly during a raid alot of things are happening very quickly, there are multiple factors and maybe over a dozen LEOs who are not NPCs but human players who will make mistakes, overstep, play it perfectly, all of the above. There will always be inconsistency. if you believe anyones either breaking rules OOCly or protocols Icly, thats where reports and IAs come in. No one is forcing you to hold a lab you see as too risky for you.
