burgershot 30 minute rule of work
Quietthecutie replied to Ritchie Stones's topic in Civilian Suggestions
The whole reason this plus the fact you have to be within burgershot on the hour was because the salary got raised and it soon became apparent players could not be trusted not to metagame their salaries for short term benefits. if you wanna pee or something else oocly thats fine, just make sure you do so within the confines of burgershot and come back in a timely fashion (>5 Mins.) that should be more than enough time to hit the john, answer the door, bang the pool cleaner etc. You can have more freedom in Burgershot or you can have a higher salary, you cant have both. popular consensus is most prefer higher salary and are willing to play ball. -
Dosent mean people are not making it happen due to wanting to metagame the advantages on this server. Aniways, +1. takes me back to sitting in a gym and maxing out my CJ in GTASA.

This is a slightly tricky area. these days its important to be inclusive without choking RP. With ORP slurs this typically is not a big deal. so long as per guidelines it makes sense and is strictly IC. you could not for instance, abuse someone for their ooc voice not sounding like their IC gender, thats just not acceptable and therefore is not even under consideration. If you wanted to use racial/religious slurs icly, just throw a quick /b of "anyone got a problem with me using abusive language?" If no one objects, you dont have to go into further detail, you just have to make sure no one objects, if no one does, and you give it a minute, you are tacitly in the clear, as you have asked for people to object and no one has. subject to people contacting you oocly once you start, asking you to cool it. I do agree that very frequently, ORP slurs do nothing to add to the RP experience of the player, usually these are used almost oocly by players to try to either bait a reaction, or to vent icly about their ooc frustration on an outcome (dude gets beat and arrested by a black officer, here we go boys....) Almost no one with any skin or reputation on the server will even touch ORP due to it just seeming crass and low brow. With most grey areas (and for long as it exists ORP will be a grey area.) common sense is king. but common sense is just not that common so perhaps more specific wording would be beneficial, but almost always for reports as the sort of players who do racial slurs under ORP rarely pay attention to rule changes in wording.

Civ Bodycam RP is generally incredibly cheesy anyways. We have no following fdo command so someone can rp clipping on a bodycam, drive to a location and record something, and unless the other party specifically asks in /do if they are wearing a bodycam they would have no way of knowing. Going back to the original point, i believe the reason we have non scripted cameras is, funnily enough, due to a lack of script support lol. Hell most visible static CCTV cameras are not scripted. Like many rp elements on the server this is not ideal but i would not like to see it removed. Sounds like they are not bending the rule but flat out breaking it if they are not consulting you regarding if the wording is ok. If people follow the rule properly, non scripted cameras work fine, as any party can veto the RP if they are not happy with the description. I do think the rule could be better worded to make sure whoever is giving the description is aware they are responsible for checking all parties agree. And particularly with LEOs and JB non scripted camera rules be baked into their training. Atm i dont think its mentioned. I feel less drastic action can be taken than just shitcanning the rp altogether. We rely on non scripted rp alot on this server...

If people could not forum report their way to a W, you would see more people accept their in character losses more. Its as simple as that. Forum reporting someone for deathmatching is an easy way to turn a salty situation into a serotonin boost. When in reality, people need to sever their connection between IC and OOC and instead focus on ending RP beef through IC means like the ways I suggested. I promise you players would self-moderate when they realize they started an IC beef that they could not handle IC and received a "Well sort it IC" response from the admin team. The players that cannot "take the L" should be treated like toddlers. An example is as follows: Gang A: Crips | Gang B: Bloods Crips start beef with the bloods, lets say by hitting bloods at a lab. Bloods want their retaliation. To make things right, bloods are demanding 100k from crips or they will continue to get robbed when they see each other. Crips then deny that offer. Fast forward a couple of weeks: Crips have been losing 8/10 fights with bloods. Bloods are in a comfortable position. Crips resort to trying to report bloods. Crips are met with "This beef should be handled in game by the two parties" by admins. Crips are then left to fend for themselves IC because they started this beef IC. Bloods continue to rob crips, leading to the same 8/10 ratio in shootouts vs crips. Crips are then forced to negotiate a surrender or risk total turmoil. Crips decide to pay 100k to bloods to end the beef. Do you see how this was solved with zero admin intervention? Edited 10 hours ago by Clank what you are saying makes perfect logical sense but only when you presume everyone has the same outlook at you do. When they dont, your theory falls apart. I agree, i would fucking love for these beefs to be settled IC only, it makes for a more well rounded and most importantly....whats the phrase im looking for...self responsible experience? fuck around and find out type shit...like it would be wonderful. but there should always be oversight for genuine rulebreaks. and how do we determine what a genuine rulebreak is? thats right! through the reports system. I would love to see staff be a bit more heavy handed with what is defined as a "petty report" or some incentive to not report every little thing that happens in the heat of battle. at the end of the day this is a videogame and sometimes people will make questionable decisions but not necessarily something that warrants a report. Think of it like a sport...in many sports players can challenge a decision or outcome but they might have a limited ammount of challenges they can commit, say, 3 challenges (reports) over the period of a month. if their challenges (reports) are accepted, it dosent count as one used. if their challenge is denied (their report is denied) then they lose that challenge. basically if you report 3 times and 3 times it gets denied, you cant report any more until next month...that make sense? Basically what i would want to see is some motivation for people to NOT report every little thing simply to try to get gear back or because they fail to distinguish IC from OOC. but i still feel the reports system should be available.

"proactive" being my keyword. If you wanna keep your guns reliable, maintain them about 50%, if you dont want em to poof, maintain em above 0%.
-
also, if this is a bug issue, report the bug and maybe devs can at least hotfix it.
-
It seems you answered your own question. The Jamming was there to encourage people to be proactive in maintaining and acquiring new guns, instead of waiting to the last moment.
-
I like the idea of gun degradation having a penalty. but if its bugged thats something that 100% needs to be sorted. guns should only jam if they are degraded past 50%

because people dont like losing and even moreso dislike acknowledging it. In an idealistic server it prolly wouldnt be. but with the playerbase we have and the cops n robbers nature of what I would hazard a good 3/4 the RP is... There will always be winners and losers, happy sacks and sad fucks. Fat cats and starving dogs. and when people lose they get upset. they lash out. people wanna be on top, people wanna win. and when they dont they look for a reason. This is why moderation isn't just necessary, its vital. players cannot be trusted to self-moderate because they have inherent bias due to personal interest. im not saying all players are like that. some quite happily take an L. but a significant portion are.

Automatic Lockers for DOC Prisoners Items
Quietthecutie replied to vZelfeR's topic in Game Suggestions
Some of these suggestions are not really workable. The safe code thing just requires too much manual imput. Id propose the same system proposed for impound. Id be down for a semi automated system based on how many staff of that particular locker is currently clocked on. For instance, if you have less than 2 DOC or 6 PD/SD, its a fairly safe bet that a crim wanting their items back will face a hefty delay or be ignored completely. Nobodys fault, everyones just busy with more pressing tasks. Alternatively have it on a timer. If you ring for assistance and no pne shows up in 20 minutes or so, you can retrieve you own things so long as you pay any required fees. -
This is why i would like to see this or any other pvp rule change tested at labs only for the time being. At labs people over relying on DM rules is done to death. Like "i was just chilling at labs and cooking and this guy pulled up and just shouted demands. and then i was shot at for no reason..." my brother in christ, you were shot at BECAUSE you were cooking at a lab... Labs always feel very wooden to me because of this. Like we are going through a checklist and ticking off the boxes before someone says "fuck it" and gets cracking. For my part, labs and their immeadiate area should be be treated as utter wilderness. The very fact you are presenting yourself in a very hostile environment civilians and police give a wide birth should be seen as "reasonable escalation." The current system of driving up to someone and being like "howdy do, whatcha up to?" IN THE MIDDLE OF A DRUG LAB makes 0 sense..

Reducing jtime is a bandaid soloution to the problem that theres nothing fun or interesting to do in DOC. Hasnt been for a long time. And its progressively got worse. Poker got removed, no idea why, presumably because the script change for casino affected it. That never got addressed, Stamps got nerfed, which to be fair they were powerful but that incentivised people to actually be active and work/conflict for stamps. Nowadays most people cant be assed. Some cosmetic changes, which were nice but again, bandaid. So we have a system where roleplaying criminal acts lands you in a prision where theres nothing to do but sit and wait, stewing in apathy and frustration at your loss of freedom. I mean, points for realisim lol but this is a videogame. I would quite like to enjoy myself playing ot instead of just tabbing out and watching something while waiting for an arbitrary timer to expire. This is bad for both the inmate and the DOC staff, who i am sure are just as bored as the inmates are.

I agree that demands, DM rights and the constant weaponisation of the reports system by certain parties is a problem. I also agree that certain players constantly ruleplay and try to operate in such a way that dosent really make sense but uses the current ruleset to their beneift. I also dont think altering The DM rule would fix the problem. What would happen is just a shifting of the goalposts. The same people will continue to instantly slam that "SAVE POV" upon taking an L. Then quickly scroll through their POV looking for something they could justify as a rulebreak. By OPs own admission they would simply have to change the title of their report from DM to NRP. Im open to experimenting with a rule change, particularly in areas like labs which people should percieve as inheriently dangerous areas. Maybe something good will come out of it? Idk. But i feel the problem is less to do with the current rules being inflexible than it is the mentality of the players hiding behind them, who will just adapt their justification for a report, very little else will change imo.

Add "Store" UI for carriables to furniture items with storage
Quietthecutie replied to Kjaer's topic in Game Suggestions
+1 would be nice for QoL -
Add non-emergency hotline for PD.
Quietthecutie replied to Tacoface173's topic in Civilian Suggestions
When i first read this it sounded reasonable. But on second thoughts, 9/10 calls would be "i am at parking come get my car out." Theres a reason why you get jailed for misuse of gov hotlines, and its not a RP issue but a practical one. During peak times its already hard to track all the calls coming in, throwing in non emergency calls would only spam the teeny tiny textbox more. Sadly Practicality superceedes realisim every time. -
Cleaning Graffiti should be cheaper from a civ perspective
Quietthecutie replied to Iriael's topic in Civilian Suggestions
Or increase the price but make em cleanable and therefore reusable. But yeah there is a definite problem when the nost effective way to clean off grafitti is more grafitti. -
Right, but this is not on the K9 unit to enforce. Currently, K9 is in a grey area where we do not have any form of script support. i know staff members are looking at this and want to adjust it. and i am 100% down for that. what i would ask is that crims accept that its not down to the current K9 units to promote what you would consider fair RP. it simply is not our call. We are not staff we do not get to make that call. we are just roleplaying our characters as the server has currently asked us to. which we do to the best or our ability. we are not targeting anyone. If K9 gets script support to adjust it i will be the first person to applaud it, but that isnt my position right now. currently, to give you an idea. ive been clocked on for 4 hours today, ive recieved a total of 3 K9 calls. 2 of which resulted in convictions, both of which ran. this gives you an idea as to how effective a K9 unit can be. 2 convictions in a 4 hour shift. Again, no one references the 10 or so times PD/SD just let them go with a citation, its all about the one time you get K9ed with a gun in your glove. People keep demonising K9 units for doing their job but IT IS NOT THEIR CALL. they are just executing their character via the rules that staff has made. that is all.

This simply wouldnt work. Too many situations happen where ids are only seen for a brief moment, sometimes in chases, sometimes in gunfights, either way aint nobody got time to hit their ' key while in the middle of those situations just incase a rulebreak occurs. oftentimes its only when the person saves and watches back their own POV they are able to identify the IDs involved in the situation. Is it ideal? Of course not. Is it necessary? Absolutely. As for the trunk idea, +1.

If im being honest i feel like we are veering off course here. This isnt a cop vs crim thread, its not a thread designed to incite these kind of arguments. The Original post by Bala was broad, highly diverse and very encouraging particularly as it came from an LEO main looking to improve Crim rp. This is incredibly rare as almost every suggestion comes from one side wailing on the other. and I think nearly every person can at least in general, appreciate the effort that went into it and as a minimum, recommend devs to take a look at these suggestions as a whole. Lets keep it positive and proactive instead of zeroing in on the 1 or 2 ideas you dont like and then spinning the entire thread on those.

Most modern "F2P" games follow some kind of seasonal rotation of their in game shops. this strikes a nice balance of vehicles still being exclusive, available only at limited times throughout the year, generating hype when a new shop rotation comes in, and boosts sales through FOMO tactics. From a business standpoint this is only a good thing. raises customer satisfaction, increases revenue, increases activity.

Very underrated point. If we did adopt this. It would not be very long before people started replacing "logs will show..." with "an AC Scan will show..." People would just start demanding it every time they took a hard L and got wiped. On a personal level i despise cheaters, its about the most selfish thing you can do in a videogame. I am fine with AC so long as it is developed in house. I will not however be sharing my personal information and/or clicking random links from third party websites to do so. Find another way.

Quite possibly the best thread I have ever read. Love most of the ideas and willing to roll with the rest of them. +1 Excellent stuff.

Ok Imma ask you to settle down and have a juice box before you start flinging more shit around. As had already been stated, K9 has no script support, but I know it is being worked on as a lower priority task. No one is "forcing" anything. the K9 unit is operating exactly as it has been instructed to. It is not the responsibility of the K9 unit to make sure you have a fun time. They work off of the training and instruction they receive from supervisors and high command, who in turn answer to the admin team and LFM who approved the RP exactly as it is happening. There is no rule break occurring. Again, this is not what is happening. You are given several chances to respond to the RP, before, during and after it happens. You can run, you can shoot, you can call for backup or a drop, you can decide to take the L and eat the charges. Freedom of choice is not the same as freedom of consequence. If you choose to roll with firearms and armour in your glovebox, you are also choosing to run the risk of those items being discovered. We Don't. Currently in SD the balance mechanic for K9 is a 1 in 4 rule. i.e for every 4 stops you legitimately could K9 sniff you must restrain yourself to a maximum of 1. The rule makes 0 sense rply, and is purely there as a placeholder due to no script support. sometimes despite it being a 4 stacked Kamacho with known felons inside, we will simply let them go even if we have K9 available. To summarise the above, you are clearly working with limited information or are misinformed. But above all you're throwing a lot of shade at K9 units who are simply following their training. they are not power gaming nor are they forcing RP. Everything they do is Admin approved and often Staff supervised, as frequently a staff member will ooc check the car as well. the parameters for a K9 sniff currently include recent violent felonies so, once again, actions and consequences. not simply an LEO picking on you. Please reign in the attitude. With all that said, Id love for this to be replaced with an actual script that, if the criminal carries out RP or better yet runs their own script for hiding their weapon (which makes a quiet mechanic sound and takes say 30 seconds. like put weapon in glovebox, right click weapon and select option for "hide weapon." or something like that.) and then the RNG gods can decide if the weapons detected or not.
