Ways to increase player count in ECRP
Quietthecutie replied to XxTheIrishGuyxX's topic in Discussions
This is a good idea. Every official faction has a discord LFM/FM are privvy to, most have media sections where players post clips of the fun they have. Would be nice to have a "head of social media" admin etc to use these to create a presence and attract more players. right now i think we rely on 90% word of mouth and google search. -
+1 idk why the scoreboard even exists except for metagaming/playercount

Figure out a way to bring back private labs
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
so the reasons private labs are well known, how could we address them so that we could bring private labs back. -Private labs would have to be more interactive -you would have to get out on the map semi regularly -you cannot just farm stupid amounts of cash/drugs 1. I think a good first step would be to keep it purely RV focused once more, with a hard limit on how many tables you can have. no more creative stacking or cheeky clipping. A set limit. This gets us out on the map a bit and ticks the box of not being able to infinitely scale operations to stupid proportions. 2. The passer by. This would be a suggestion to address interactivity and people just sitting in their RV for 5 hours on netflix whilst still giving some wiggle room for chill cozy cooking vibes. once you start to cook, every 15 mins or so, a script would roll an RNG check. if you pass the check, nothing happens. if you fail the check, you would get a notification along the lines of "you hear voices outside, it sounds like someone has found you and is calling the cops (raw, i know, but you get the idea.) From there a timer would start, giving the RV about a 10 minute head start. this seems long but is to account for them having to finish their current round of drugs. After that local authorities get a script call along the lines of "you have received an anonymous tip of a potential drug lab, call 123." so you have that ammount of time to pack up and clear the area before cops get there. forcing you to relocate to another area and keep moving. No more jamming your RV into a cliff in the middle of nowhere and staying there forever. This means that technically, if youre lucky, you could stay in one spot for maybe an hour cooking, but much like robbing atms, if you fail the RNG roll, cops can and will get involved in your little roleplay session and you will need to scoot. That would be my first pass on how to bring private labs back, addressing the primary reasons they were removed, which were valid. I'd love to hear some feedback and positive discussion on how else we could make private labs great but not OP again. -
There is a functional casino, with both those games. Under diamond resort. Problem is its almost always empty due to all the PvAI games being heavily skewed to lose you money. There is PvP poker, but the script is so ass achingly slow nost people cant be arsed.

In principle the idea of thoughtful and engaging roleplay with EMS about if a person lives and dies based on treatment could be fun. In reality almost every interaction with a crim would turn into a cursed tug of war. If given the option almost every crim would refuse the treatment and die instead and take the nlr. RIP MD. Thats why the current rule is what it is. If you recieve treatment adequate enough to be rushed to hospital, you must accept it. Basically meet the other party halfway. NLR still happens, espically on larger scenes and shootouts its not uncommon for people to bleed out even with LEOs on scene.

The REAL reason ECRP is in it's current state. (Opinion Piece)
Quietthecutie replied to Marksy's topic in Forum Suggestions
What an incredible read. I agreed with some parts, struggled with others. But one thing i dont think anyone could deny is the dedication that went into making it x. -
Right o! so back we go to the age old debate of cops v crims when it comes to assets and punishment. this has been done a dozen times before but fuckit, one more time couldnt hurt right?? On this server, cops are a necessary function. to ensure that crims cannot simply run wild flout laws, go 240 in metro areas, stuff like that. Its a job. a job they are paid to do. A job with standards. Standards they are held to. If a cop oversteps those boundaries, they are investigated, and if found guilty, punished. If an applicant to being a cop does not make the grade, they are denied, If a trainee for either department does not make the grade, they are rejected. invited to come back later and try again. There are government forms for each of the things I have just listed. It is fact, not just meaningless conjecture like so much stuff on the forums is... And in addition to that cops have to go through a mountain of paperwork in order to both keep their job and advance, failing to do this results in them, you guessed it! being ejected. For flavours sake in order to just carry a pump shotgun a trainee has to pass out of training, which takes a month, and then apply and pass through the weapons training system, which is about another week on top. thats 5 weeks, at best to hold the most basic of heavies. LEO factions are the hardest ones to join on the server purely for the amount of work it takes to get into them. None of this applies to criminals, where anyone with 10k who knows a guy can get their hands on a silenced .50, if they have the goods and the money is there you can get pretty much any gun you like, instantly. all you gotta do, is know a guy. No application, no training, no paperwork! just hand over the cash and here's your guns. Much of the crim economy is based on larger orgs selling guns through this method. The cop dosent own the guns they fire. they have it as part of a kit for their job. the crim pays for their guns for the privilege of being able to use that gun however they like (within server rules.) and for the roleplay it allows them to do. the cop cannot generate their own roleplay, they are a reactionary force who can only respond to roleplay opportunities presented to them. As for jail and the loss of assets, thats just part of the crim experience. its part of what makes it the hardest style of rp to play, but also the most rewarding if you pull it off, massive Ws ,Colossal Ls, big fucking swings. If that is not to your liking perhaps criminal roleplay just isnt for you.

I was sorta holding back to see if this was a bit but by god you are genuinely serious and i find that honest to god hilarious. this isnt so much an adjustment as it is a removal of a spine. if you want the kind of powertrip / respawn experience that these changes would bring, maybe play another server more or idk, single player. This is you literally taking the difficulty slider of crim and sliding it all the way down to "babys first"
-
When did that happen? was it just a mistake or intentional? did you reach out? did you file a report for NRP or IA? did you suffer a negative RP outcome? People can throw accusations or tell tales of whimsy all the live long day, if you feel wronged you should 100% report it. believe me when i say no one wants an asshole cop to be disciplined more than the decent ones. and a cop should not be intentionally striking someone off their bike with 0 reason unless its a simple accident, which by your candour im guessing you dont think thats the case. But you have to be specific, this kind of vague hand waving is the worst thing you can do, as you foster resentment without any actionable evidence, and because you are not being specific you are basically putting that on all players who have LEOs. that's simply not fair.

Honestly at this point ive come around to the thinking that crims complaining on forums is inevitable. Hold your pitchforks and allow me to expand. In almost every cop v crim thread (and this is that) its the crim decrying the cop. this is logical as when a cop takes an L, they respawn with NLR and go about their day. When a crim takes an L, if they are lucky they do that, but all cops will try to save their lives and get them to DOC (working as intended.) Cops will grumble in fchat or in general, but rarely will they lash out unless its on a thread like this. because they have nowhere near as much at risk. crims risk WAYYY more in every fight with cops (working as intended) and are almost always outnumbered and outgunned (working as intended.) Like i dont really know how other servers work in this, do they try to make cops v crims an even fight? are cops relegated to trying to give people tickets and flee back to HQ when someone calls the boys? because on this server its absolutely not supposed to be an even fight. crims are supposed to lose if they go toe to toe with cops straight up. and this has zip to do with staff members etc being cops. thats just how the server functions. so some of the most responsible and respected players on the server also happen to be part of the hardest factions to get into, which have the highest RP standards and a literal section in gov website where you can see them be crucified if they fuck up. colour me shocked. One of the biggest cop v crim RP ops in recent memory was cutte throat. which involved over 100 players from both sides, the shit almost crashed the server. It was a wonderful op. most people had fun, but in no way was it even close. crims banded together to make a stand, and then lost hard. alot of Jtime, truckloads of assets, the lot. But most crims, particularly the ones orchestrating the Op, knew that going in, this was just for the hell of it. and for me when i play my crim, thats the mentality i have. when i hear sirens its not "oh goodie, pvp" its "oh fuck, run." because if you dont dollars to donuts you are odds on to lose everything you have on you and spend the next 2 hours in DOC. When you get into it with cops, that should be your outlook. that you will be extremely fortunate to get away with this. And then ofcourse the complaints come, because you just lost what is easily hours of game time and have nothing better but to stew about it in DOC (make DOC great again) so of course most crims will complain on forums. unfortunate and frankly a bad look but its inevitable (working as intended.) If you want a fair fight, try CS, Valorant, fucking roblox. play a game that intends to give you one. ECRPs dev direction does not want that. you are supposed to lose if you try to fight cops. run, hide, or be very smart and smash them when they dont expect it, and then run. Rant, i know. TLDR; Working as intended.

Heard you out to the end. what youre asking for is at least several dozen hours of development time. the server has 2 part time devs. If realistically, no one would be able to get up and run/resist after being tased twice, bonking them with a baton and "forcing" the rp (this is not forcing but i digress) seems fine to me. certainly more interactive than just infinitely tasing and after the second tase the perp is already asking for it. Due to GTA melee mechanics being wonderful, theres a better than slim chance the cop fucks it up and hits their partner instead. so you still have that element of chance in the mix. You actually have a better chance than if you were hit with a circle minigame while trying to run away.

Ways to increase player count in ECRP

I think most players have made their peace that when GTAVI launches, it will result in a massive drop in the community activity, at least for the first 6 months, This even in best case is unavoidable. what happens after that, idk, i dont think anyone knows. it will be a hard question for staff to answer and atm we have no real forum with them which i think is the biggest problem. No one knows if the staff running and paying for the server wanna rugpull or keep going. because they dont talk. GTAVI are already coming out swinging with announcements they are partnering with nopixel to bring out rp servers asap on the new platform. I dont really think we can compete with that and dev staffs continued silence only continues to compound that. that the server is on borrowed time. Talk to us, please. -

one of the best developer to player moments was the discord calls where people could actually speak with and get answers from people who had control of the servers development direction. I think that happened just the once, not sure why because it was so well recieved. would love to see it again. All due respect to mods and admins but by their own admission, they control none of this and at best the senior staff can make a recommendation or two. their job is to moderate and regulate the server, not make development calls. -

The irony of this also not getting a response and left in suggestion limbo -

a very valid ask. server staff are always very scrupulous when it comes to giving out what they are actually working on. a lot of times in suggestions it feels like bellowing into a storm. no one of consequence hears you. -

I think the issue with this is the script, which they dumped for the casino one, which would make no sense in DOC. twin this so people can actually play. -

This is an incredibly heated take, and alex perhaps lay off the bong for a tick before dismissing an entire portion of the community, but not without truth. Some players (a minority ill grant you) do genuinely want to put on events and shows for the community as a whole. Orgs like plague and the people who work for them (like me, hello!) along with gov, and a bunch of other civ factions love putting on events. events can be hella fun and highly interactive. its a great way of showing ooc server pride icly. Are they perfect...fuck no...and you usually do have to stick on some raffles just to get the average player to show up and even then there are the inevitable "when raffle" calls. However they are, for better and worse, a core part of the servers identity. people do show up, mingle, buy raffle tickets, beef with other orgs, say hi to new players, its great server lubricant when literally anyone can call down and just fuck around for a bit. They are also great for introducing new and old players to other aspects of the server. when an org like MD/SD/PD/DOC/DCC whoever puts on an event, they often get the chance to showcase the various nuuances of their own org to others in a way you couldnt do otherwise. And the people who put them on such as @Jay Plague @britbritxo do a fucking storming job with minimal script support to make them happen and have my undying respect. Would the server survive if civ rp like this was to suddenly stop being a thing? probably, but it would feel all the more forced and empty for it. -

Games, by definition, are supposed to be fun. Ive already said my opinion to death on the death of said prison.... Bala is right, if you had to draw up a list of areas where our diminutive development budget should be put into, it should 1000% be DOC. You can be as smart a crim as you like but there are also very smart cops. no matter how goated you are you will eventually end up in DOC, its inevitable and therefore unavoidable. right now its about 10% clowning around, 90% afk and 0% actually fun and fulfilling activities. #makedocbearableagain -

Last thing I can think of is video urls and what a whopping success that turned out to be. Its barely used, not only because its so much easier to either stream in a discord call or just share the link in /b, but also because its incredibly buggy, limited to youtube, and paywalled. Ironically they are mostly now used by factions for events or training. Outside of that...yeah pretty much everything is based around a job of some description, even events are massively script starved. I remember one time brit god love her did an entire golf event with 0 script support. the fact it was well received was nothing short of a miracle. -
not even gonna get into revenge reports. But the fact remains players who engage in move PVP will always have more reports for and against them, statistically that makes sense.
-
The Data scrape is very impressive and does bring to light some interesting facts, but we also need to consider the human element. why do the same 4/5 orgs account for oh lets say 80% of the reports? because they are the ones engaging in the most unregulated PVP. Its only natural that those players account for most of the reports. Lets say i was playing on my civ, i think ive put maybe 2 reports in on her over the years, both times it was due to either ooc toxcicity or ORP. 2 reports in many years now on the server. just two. Why so few? is it because im not asset oriented or am just a better person? not really, its because my character doesnt really engage much in PvP. Therefore theres overall less conflict with other players and thus not many reports. I think if we reshuffled the data another way it would clearly show a correlation of what type of character submits a report. and it would go: 1. Crims 2. Cops 3.civs/other why? its not just about assets, thats the natural link of who engages in the most conflict. and particularly with crims because conflict on those type of characters feels alot more personal, due to how much effort has to go into acquiring and reacquiring their assets. cops come second as they too engage in alot of PVP but they dont lose assets. and civs go way down the list as they dont/shouldnt really engage much in PVP and are vibin. So whilst the data is good, its not a direct cause and effect type deal. there are other factors.

this was exactly where my mind went to as well lol. Imagine a factions having a meeting and come back outside to find all their cars empty of gas.
-
I Disagree, I think the cost and time should be prohibitive to the point where unless its an absolute god damn emergency, this should be prohibitive. 5k is expensive, but if there is truly no other option and you need that vehicle repaired right now, its still an option. And also I think it should have 0 bearing on PVP situations. There was no mention of PVP situations in the initial suggestion, so the wait time i propose should not be an issue. basically the mechanic suggested should not in any way affect immediate pvp situations. otherwise its subject to a million other questions. I dont want that. I Want this to be pushed through. And with the caveats ive offered itll go down alot smoother.
-
+1 but the cost would have to be so prohibitively high its used only as a last resort. Lets call it 5k. also you cannot use the service if youve been involved in criminal/PVP roleplay in the past 30 mins to stop people just dipping in and out mid chase.
