  1. Unsure if you've ever heard of /do. This can be used to rp the cctv as it would be uses to check factual information, like what is done at general stores. The only thing an actual recording would do is show an ooc id linking a person to an ic crime, allowing mixing to occur and then placing charges via player id. Handle it ic as this is an ic issue and doesn't require a NCZ to prevent it from happening. If this is such a critical issue that it requires script support, perhaps maybe the businesses should employ security as an intermediate resolution.
  2. -1 the server needs anything but more NCZ' PD and MD car parks are NCZ due to the nature of their organisation. Very rarely would a car ever be stolen from a police station or a hospital. Now a mechanic shop or a news agency - that's a lot more likely to get broken into etc. LSC used to have an employee policy not to store cars their over night others should as well. If you don't want your car broken don't leave it at your work in a semi unsecured lot. Irl you actually have to drive home instead of logging out. It's a "Government job" not an "Emergency Service" just because you're gov funded doesn't mean you would receive the same protection, take schools in the UK as an example.

    The Rooks

About time you lads got it, long time earned.
  4. -1 there should be zero OOC way to link an IC killer to an IC dead body. This would be blatantly mixed and abused. If you didn't see the killer then it's an IC issue that you can't carry out detective work against them. It's bad enough that people already get heavy charges placed on them with the minimal investigation rp of "/ldo would your fingerprints match in the mdc to bullet casings". Leave it to the admins with kill logs to assist situations like these, if and where it may be required. We should be encouraging not to use ID's to link with IC info, instead of the polar opposite, It's blatant mixing and there are other means to get to this goal.

Good luck, Hopefully you don't go down the same route as the last three attempts.
  6. Seen this happen multiple times, Just a speculation but I have a feeling it may be cause by the "ghosts" of people that appear at their previous location for a few seconds after they leave. Meaning that if this ghost was to appear back in a previous location which is a ncz, it would register their character asset as standing there and being under ncz protection.
  7. This must be a new policy? Myself and two other high command members from Triads were in both PD & Triads for almost 3 months, before we resigned. Let's not turn this into a he said she said battle and get back to the main topic.
  8. Not even going to waste my breath on this. There was no war for months, we have tried our hardest to avoid this exact situation. At the end of the day sometimes you have to show your strength. War is not because "we have nothing to do" it is purely based off of IC mistakes and roleplay. For the people who are claiming this war is founded on "disrespect alone" it shows how uninformed you actually are with your gangs higherups, there are many reasons for it all of which are IC and I'm sure if you asked your higherups they might be honest enough to fully explain the mistakes. Next time a gang war occurs IRL lets see if the declaring side gives their opposition 5+ warnings of their mistakes. This wouldn't happen, they'd be shot on the spot. Maybe come back and make a post on the diplomatic of war, when you've been in a high enough position within a criminal faction to witness what goes on behind the scenes. Instead of returning after a long hiatus on the server and creating a post blatantly tailored towards helping your faction. The hand holding attitude is something I've never understood, the people at the top worked hard for what they have and never had their hand held at all, why should the weaker side who is essentially trying to gain this same goal at the end of the day be helped by ooc structures? Keep wars IC. People complain when there is peace and the same people complain when there is war.

    NCZ Change

+1 the invisible border of safety has always felt out of place.
  10. Not once did I say accurately. I said you would be able to shoot. Accuracy would come from skill not a mechanic. Now let's get back on topic please.
  11. You're wildin if you think it's any harder to shoot a gun than it is to reply to a text on your phone, which people do all the time with one hand whilst driving.
  12. "cannot shoot above 130kmh" Obviously if you want to run the risk of aiming and turning you're more likely to crash, would be more of a skill issue not a script issue.
  13. Have you been on a bike before? Driving them one handed is very easy, especially as all gear changes are down to one hand/foot including braking. I'd argue that it's even easier to aim from a bike than a car. Less complications when driving and more room to manoeuvre/aim. Your normal motorway speed is 70mph (in the UK at least) which translates to 112kmh, at this speed you can consistently drive on handed so long as you don't have to turn etc.
  14. To my knowledge it is a server side setting that we have disabled shooting whilst driving vehicles as it is unrealistic. This create the feeling of having your hands glued to the wheel/bars like you have just learned to drive. What I suggest is that we re-enable shooting from vehicles that are moving below a certain speed. The max speed that you "safely operate a vehicle" on this server is 130khh. Going with this I believe we should be able to aim/shoot from any vehicle moving under this speed. As for realism; coming from driving both cars and bikes, I can easily say it would be realistic to aim a gun and shoot, whilst moving at these speeds, and this occurs irl. Obviously your accuracy would be a factor, perhaps as a counteraction to this reduced accuracy whilst driving could be scripted in, and then being unable to aim at any speed above 130kmh. Or on the other part, provide no crosshair when aiming and driving, unfortunately doing it this way provides potential for foul play. The fact that you cannot even aim a gun from a vehicle moving at relatively slow speeds amazes me. I also believe that this will be a way to help reduce the amount of senseless ramming "pitting" that occurs in the server. It is much more likely a car to be shot and disabled safely than it is for a 3 tonne cruiser to bang into its tailgate spinning it out at 200+.
  15. +1 to this, In my honest opinion for the amount of protection the armour we can import provides I'd say 20-25k would be the sweet spot. Only high value criminals or those who have the cash to splash would be wearing it. It's not going to turn into every man on the block in a vest. At 25k import it will normally cost any person at least 10% or more added on top to purchase this, taking it close to 30k worth of value, similar to the rough value of an AK as of recent. If you ask me 30k for an AK that can kill 10+ people with the ammo provided in the price is much scarier than a 25k vest that protects a few shots. Personally I don't see the argument with whole "criminals shouldn't have vests". People seem to forget that two of the 3 official gangs are a mafia and a cartel. Who irl would have easy access to acquiring vests, and would pose less of a challenge to find/buy than an AK.
  16. When I was in PD this was a system for a short time and was stopped for the above reason. There is however a simple solution to this, anyone with a criminal record would not be allowed to hand in a weapon and receive a monetary value back. Instead having it confiscated for them and a charge for carrying an unlicensed firearm with a previous record. Would be nice to see this added back, but perhaps add it to gun stores instead? That way store owners can set a buy back price for pistols and resell them. Which I find a lot more realistic than the city's police force buying all the guns back at anytime. Random amnesty return intervals from PD that offer a higher reward than a store could perhaps work to balance it out.
  17. Instead of making comments questioning the existence of this discussion. How about we get back to topic and actually share your opinion as Flint intended?
  18. Unfortunate to hear this, but you knew that was going to happen from the get go. PD has a strict policy on misrepresentation of the faction, and frankly you were directly hurting its reputation. I'm not saying what you said was wrong, in fact I 100% believe in freedom of speech. If it was in my position, I would have done the same. I have personally removed members from our faction in the past for disrespectful comments towards us whilst being a member. However, the situation of sharing your OOC opinion on a certain matter should never lead to removal from a faction, so long as you had attempted to be constructive with it. Which I believe you had bringing it up in a discussion thread. Hope you get shit sorted out, and if things don't go back there is always a second chance in another faction.
  19. To start off I agree that it feels like a large portion of PD I'd "corrupt" especially towards specific criminal groups. But I have to say that we more than likely miss the good ones by the "bad ones" hunting is and putting us in said positions. As for the whole blast the chief topic, yeah he fucked up. He was punished and the entire PD faction was introduced with policy changes by the commissioner (Ballin) to counteract this action both OOC and IC. Minor corruption should be acceptable but to hear stories of higherups kidnapping, torturing and threatening execution of criminals. Never mind when an officers kills other officers. Bayview has a policy in place that if you're a criminal/corrupt you cannot proceed above a specific rank, preventing their high command from being corrupt. This is perhaps a policy that could be introduced to PD. I fully understand corrupt detectives and the occasional officer, but high command such as lieutenants, captains and chiefs being corrupt to this standard is absurd. Steel being used as an example, I'd like to comment on. Steel was a great character, one that boiled my blood to a whole new level because he was so good at what he done. RP of that standard should never be prevented due to limited corruption. After seeing him return to criminal, it was clear he was only playing a character. In my time playing criminal I've had some great interactions with a lot of officers, I've even been pd myself. But as of late it feels like 90% of these unique interactions have turned into, hands up, searched, arrested. Basically providing the same experience to criminals, that PD have complained about criminals doing to others in the past. No side is perfect, on the daily we see illegally armed, wanted criminals running to pd for backup/protection. Criminals need to change how they act around PD in general, as mentioned before criminals fear being arrested and not the officer themselves this needs to change. To go with this, PD should try take a step back in my opinion and look at how they were 6 months ago. I know they took a huge hit with SD opening and a lot of higherup/classic officers leaving to build that from the ground up. But overall policy needs to be followed a lot more than it currently is. No one is perfect, each side will always fuck up. I've been there as a criminal and pd. This entire situation requires work from all teams.
  20. -1 perhaps add an AME to /carrybody to assist prevent the often abused powergaming of the action. If this was done I could justify a very short timer.
  21. This would be great for changing people's names in your phone who have name changed etc. Another +1 on this point. There was talking of a phone update being in the works, but there has been no official comments on it or its progress as of yet.
  22. Are you trying to take away from the already very minimalistic arresting roleplay? Currently its cuffed rights, mdc and sent to doc, might as well ask to /prison at this rate. Unsure about you but I'd personally consider a joint force of 145 members between PD&SD to definitely not be a lack of personnel. More of the matter the city feels like its flooded with cops a lot more than criminals in recent months. You're meant to have jurisdictions in place yet SD patrol the city as frequently if not more than cops as of late. Official gangs have an OOC cap on members at 60 max, meanwhile the police force will continue to grow, each time introducing the commonly seen wave of power hungry officers who don't have any regard for criminal RP. Now I'm not saying that all officers are bad, but at this rate finding a good one is like finding a needle in a haystack. Having been PD myself a while back I can assure you 95% of its members are there for the RP and not the pay, time flies by when you're on duty mensing you barely even notice the "poor pay" if you're joining a law enforcement faction for the pay alone you shouldn't be there to begin with. Thank you for publicly raising this. From my personal experience IA does nothing, along with the fact that 90% of people don't bother with it anymore due to it being pending for 2-3 months and closed with a canned reply. IA has turned into an IC means to protect officers of certain rule breaches such as nrp and metagaming. "how did you possibly charge me without any identification" which is then answered with "If you have an issue IA report it whole you serve your time in prison". The overall issue is the blatant play 2 win attitude that comes from members on each side of the ring. Again this is not everyone but occurs often by people in high ranked positions within the factions who can easily influence others decisions.
