Contact the faction management team and report official factions that exhibit bad roleplay. It is the best avenue for tackling issues such as this. Script support can not fix bad RP.

Reducing crime through deterrence: prison time
alexalex303 replied to alexalex303's topic in Archive
It is most often civilians and people NOT in gangs that get robbed, as most of the gangs have non-aggression pacts with each other. This is exactly the point. Everyone is saying that they don't have time to sit in prison for 8 hours, but what about the person that you robbed, took his car and left him ziptied? Does he have time to run back to someone, and then wait 3 hours for his car to get back to Mors? Does he have time to make money to pay the insurance, radio and whatever else you stole? Every time a criminal commits a criminal act against someone, they are taking away from their playing time, so it is unreasonable for them to say that they don't have time to sit in prison, because they just play to rob and attack others. -
Alright, so you don't want it to be realistic, you just want it to be new player friendly, that's your argument? How about the players that have been here for 3 years, and spent literally months (if not years) logged in, contributing to the community, grinding jobs to in the end earn enough money to buy a business. That should suddenly be subject to your review of what acceptable levels of contribution are, because you are new and want to make more money in a month than they made in years? It doesn't make any sense. People that have been here longer will have more money than you, it's realistic and it's normal. Punishing business owners will do nothing for the RP standard or RP levels, if anything it will make people stand semi-afk in-game just to earn business income.

I think it's nice for new players that might otherwise be confused or inconvenienced. You could just consider it as a public service announcement from a radio station.
-
I am against this. This would be like having the price of drugs available at the drug labs, it makes it a bit too easy. It should reward either good planning (going there and checking before-hand) or teamwork (asking someone to go there and check while you're mining).
-
This is already happening, all of it apart from the leaving part which is a teleport, and there's already a suggestion about changing that.
-
To be fair, if the one rule was don't make copies of the document, and you made copies within a day, asking for more responsibility is probably not going to go well. Regardless, no one has a right to be in a faction or involved in the factions affairs, I don't see this as being a real server suggestion and more of a complaint. Feel free to DM the faction leader about it.

If you keep your bag with you in jail, you could use it's long handle to hang yourself, or strangle another inmate, for example. Technically even stuff like shoes and belts should be taken.

Option to leave or stay in prison when prison time is up
alexalex303 replied to DeanThompson's topic in Archive
I think there should be a limit for realism's sake. It wouldn't make sense to get life in prison for certain charges that will land you in prison. However, you should be able to choose when you are released (let's say up to four hours) so that you may finish any roleplay scenario before leaving. +1 -

DOC has been recruiting and generally been exceptionally active recently, I believe I've seen them field 12+ officers in certain timezones. There is a new prison interior as well, which is amazing and full of roleplaying opportunities for those that want them. I do not think that there is a lack of it, if you want it to happen, it just won't be spoon-fed. -
I have also experienced this issue. It works fine when you are uniformed, but it goes against the purpose of the badge (to display un-uniformed officers of their status as law enforcement officers).

Cruise control was fixed in the latest patch. Can't blame that anymore.

What you mean is that you want houses to be cheap even though everyone earns a lot of money. It doesn't work like that, it's simple economics. If you want houses to be "cheap" everyone would've had to make 1/10 of what they make now, and they would've been "cheaper". But since you earn so much money per hour, houses aren't really that expensive. If you think about it, if you start from 0 money saved, how many years would it take you to save up enough to buy a house in LA? You said job safety is a concern, let's say that you do money courier, you make a solid 10k an hour, even more if you are in low tax bracket so you get welfare bonus. But let's say 10k. That means that the 1 mil mansion is 100 hours, which if you play 4 hours a day is ~25 days. Less than a month. And that's just an old simple job. The new trucker job? In the first day people were giving 25,000$ tips to truck drivers to deliver to their store first. Mining is similarly very profitable. Yes you might be robbed, but then if you're making 100k an hour? Get a gun permit, a gun, or even a bodyguard. I agree that the robbing spree is very unrealistic right now, but there are ways around it and it's not impossible to make a good, even high amount of money.
-
This is another one of those suggestions that I might support if there were realistic consequences for armed robbery, but as it stands people do it for fun sometimes, as it carries very little risk even if caught. With that in mind, I don't think allowing them to effectively neutralize a new business is a good plan.
-
You also don't make 100k every couple of hours mining in real life either. You make a lot more money in this game, therefore things are more expensive, but in relative terms, you would struggle buying the best houses in town in real life too unless you worked for years.

I would like to see the longer sentences implemented and their effect on crimes before we start working on lowering them again.

We do not need even more ways to pray on the dying civilian population right now. Until prison sentences are increased to match the rewards of stealing a 50k shipment, and better RP standard rules are set in place for middle of the day robberies, this is a big no. We don't want this to turn into hunting truckers, we already have enough people robbing civs buying clothes.
-
How much shorter can you make an hour sentence? Do we give felons 10 minutes in prison now? This should never be a thing before prison sentences go over 8 hours. big -1

What are you describing is already a thing in the form of stock. Dealership owners have to import cars, gas stations owners have to import fuel, etc. If they are inactive for a period of time, their store will run out, especially now when stocking a business requires a trucker, they are contributing to roleplay. It would make no sense for the owner of a gas station to be in-game or it's shut down. This feels like a knee-jerk reaction against people that have businesses as a new player, but I can assure you, they are not all owned by players that have been here for years.
-
I'd be in favor of it if the backdoor was set by an administrator and not the player. I've had experiences in servers which allowed players to set their own backdoor, and they set it in unrealistic places. (similar to how some people have been abusing /stashspot)

The robbing sprees are a symptom of low consequences for criminal behaviour. If they can rob ten people and then get caught, have a fun shootout, scramble their frequencies and then go do an hour in prison, then people will do it. Real life gangs don't do it, because armed robbery will earn you 8 to 15 years in prison, and shooting at cops will get you killed or in prison for life. There is no need to add more NCZs, but to increase consequences for crimes.

The problem with all of your free market capitalist utopia ideas is quality control. The leadership of all these businesses has been selected for IC and OOC reasons, because they are trusted to instill at least a measure of quality control, which arguably they have done successfully so far. In a perfect world everyone would be a great RPer, and they wouldn't become a mechanic just to steal cars, but this is not a perfect world, and it will get abused in NonRP ways. -1

Reintroduce the scamming limit or IC consequences.
alexalex303 replied to Levi208's topic in Archive
If you want to sell a car without the risk of getting scammed, pay the high end fee. If you want to sell a house with the risk of getting scammed, pay the fee. There is no risk if you don't want to commit tax evasion, and if you do, it comes with risks. Not an OOC issue.
