  1. Hey man. There's a few people from vG sprinkled around here, always nice to see more. Be sure to message me if you need any help settling in. The application might take a bit more than usual because we're experiencing a huge influx of players.
  2. I'll be there, excited to see who else shows up, especially from the civilian side!
  3. It's the other way around. The old voip was the custom Eclipse VOIP, and the one we're using right now is RAGE's native VOIP implementation. When we used our own VOIP system, we basically had a second sever for VOIP, and some users reported high CPU usage, the VOIP server would also crash every now and then, and no one's VOIP would work at all. Now that we're on RAGE VOIP, there is no more high CPU usage, nor blanket crashes that affect everyone's VOIP, but people do sometimes have issues hearing each other, this is because as far as I know, this VOIP system is P2P, which may result in connectivity issues between people.
  4. Because an unrealistic amount of people wear masks for no good in-character reason.
  5. While the legal definitions are correct, I see nothing to address the fact that this is a game, and how that complicates the process. What happens if no Judges are online? Does the player stay in prison until one is available? Is he released? How would you guarantee Judges to be unbiased? Would they only be allowed one account, or would you have them be server staff? Private Law Offices, do they need to approved by government, or can any felon suddenly become a lawyer for his similarly felonious friend? These are just a few questions off the top of my head. This idea will require way more effort and thought than what was presented.
  6. The reason armor is priced high is because we don't want every single gang member to be wearing one. It's supposed to be a luxury item. -1
  7. It is insulting because he has no knowledge on the matter, and yet he presents his beliefs as objective facts, rather than his feelings. The issue is of informed discussion. If I want to say that a certain institution is functioning incorrectly, I need to know exactly how it functions, explain why it is wrong, and (preferably) provide an alternative that can be implemented in the current climate. If I were to start speaking about DCC tomorrow, and go over ten issues that are almost all imaginary, and offer untenable solutions as my suggestions, I believe that people would be justified in considering it an insult.
  8. No, they are not able to dispute their charges at the time of arrest. Yes, they are able to defend themselves, and even enlist the help of their friends to make their case. The word of a civilian / convicted felon as in his testimony is NOT equal to a cop's testimony. The word of a player when providing actual evidence (IC recordings, IC pictures, etc) is equal to that of an officer.
  9. I find it quite insulting that a person which knows so little about how the police force operates on this server can have such a strong negative opinion of it, and it's protocols, when almost everything stated in his opening post is factually false.
  10. If this is IC stuff, shouldn't it be kept IC? (as in the announcements or the narrative they are pushing IC)
  11. It was implemented this way on purpose because the vast majority of the server wears masks almost 24/7. In order for this to be implemented and cameras still be a deterrent, you'd have to remove masks from the server.
  12. I've read it. If you make an accident every now and then by speeding a little bit, that's fine, you pay $2000 and nothing bad will ever happen. The only people that this system targets is habitually reckless drivers.
  13. This got brought up before and there is a huge difference between shootouts in real life and shootouts in this game. In real life you have the effects of adrenaline, and the inaccuracies of your weapons platform, plus any lack of accuracy stemming from the fact that you don't have proper weapon training (if you're a street thug). In this game however, every single character is an expert marksman that will hit their mark 100% with a pistol, and an extremely large amounts of time with an automatic. Recoil is almost non-existent, same with lack of training. You have extremely good control over who you hit with your bullets, compared to real-life where you may miss and hit someone else. because of this, I don't think that making it so you can shoot anybody in the general idea is a good thing. However I could see the argument being made that if people are associating via masks/clothes/vehicles or are just known associates of a group, and you're shooting at that group, you may shoot at everyone in the group, even if they didn't do anything other than be involved in the shootout. That's a lot more in line with the game rather than everyone in the general area.
  14. These can be organized via IC means by anybody. Not really a server suggestion.

    Add tazer

People are underestimating the strength of the taser. If will make any short range engagement about who tases first rather than anything else. -1
  16. At least one of the Founders are from Europe. I don't see the server moving continents any time soon, nor do I support it. -1
  17. I do think that prison sentences are too short, and it's why people choose to commit crime so easily. There was talk of increasing the limit when DOC is up and running, which it has for a while, so I'd definitively be supporting a sentence increase. On all the role-playing servers I've played before, the max sentence started from 8, and went all the way to 24 on a more serious RP server. I wouldn't be in favor of increasing from 2 straight to 24, but I would at least like to see a 3x increase in max sentence. (especially for serious crimes like armed robbery, murder, etc)
  18. To summarize your point, you wish the scene of an active shootout to be an area in which everyone has KOS on everyone?

    Money

There is no way to buy in-game currency from the server, and buying anything from another player is against the rules. (Real World Trading)
  20. Yes, they were added as a deterrent against speeding. How would it be a deterrent if you could get a free slate whenever you go to bed? It doesn't have to be an expensive sports car, but from the people that got a high amount of tickets, as far as I know, all of them are expensive sports car owners, that could easily pay their tickets if they wanted to.
  21. They can, they choose not to. The people that have the high amount of tickets got them by driving expensive sports cars at high speeds, they could always sell their vehicles to cover the cost of their speeding. There shouldn't be an OOC bailout for IC decisions they are making willingly.
  22. Then why are you supporting a suggestion that would have admins impound your vehicle instead of sending it to Mors?
  23. Did you try pressing F2?
