SADOC Improvements Thread

Update # 1

F4 Update

The SADOC has been very busy IC making new divisions and pushing for awesome new stuff but we are currently being restricted somewhat OOCly by what we can do with our faction in F4. For example we have recently founded CID, a division similar to DB and SIB where we can investigate situations that happen in the cellblock. We are limited by not having access to a lot of the things that SIB and CID have.

Here are some thoughts we have about changes for our F4:

  • Taking people through emergency areas - DOC is the only gov faction that can’t drop people off through places like pillbox. We have to take them out of the vehicle and use the /dropbody.

  • Speakers & MDCs in vehicles - The first one is just for fun really but the second would help when out and about, especially on transports where we can check the people we are transporting.

  • New Branch in F4 - a detective branch that allows fingerprint tape and other DB things to help us fingerprint stolen items and smuggled items to see who owns them to charge them.

  • CTRL U - Giving ctrl U to both the new CID branch for detective stuff (giving the opportunity for epic undercover cellblock RP) and Ctrl U for High Command to allow them to be able to wear their own uniform and be more noticeable.

  • Ability to use flatbeds - The DOC has the wonderful groundskeeping division and they have recently started writing up a vehicle handbook. It would be awesome for the kind of mechanic RP they want to take part in if they had access to the ability to use tow trucks.


 

Jobs

This has been covered previously but due to recent awesome updates and dev images there are a lot of awesome new ideas with how some of these can work!

  • Laundry - This can be done very similar to how the hotwiring system was mentioned in #development where a player needs to press space at a certain point. This will allow them to make a small amount of stamps for cleaning clothes.

  • Groundskeeping - This can be done very similar to how the incidents work where there’s small things around the cellblock that respawn for inmates to pick up. Same as the incidents, this will take some time and reward them with some credits.


 

Removing Old Yard
The Old Yard has been unused for around a year and a half now and it is a detriment for employees as they always fall in. We have no reason for it anymore as its just blocking off a large portion of the interior of the prison that could be used for a lot of things.

There is no way to go into it and I don’t believe we’ll ever need it.



Fixing Doors
Currently opening double doors are a pain in the butt. Pressing E to the side only opens one of them and then pressing E slightly closer locks one and open the other. For double doors it would be awesome if E opened them both to avoid one of them being closed and one being open as it can get very hard and annoying to deal with especially with pesky inmates.

Sounds like a great idea with great oppertunitites a mega +1    +10 for the knife part.  

Would be really difficult but awesome to see some sort of gang organized economy/smuggling like knifes, lockpick? and etc small criminal stuff. But for a heavy price so only people who have long sentences should be able to get it.  Maybe a set timer that only people with 1,5hours or something are able to get it "RP wise thats when you get the respect in jail for being in so long with the gangs"

Honestly, this is already supported within DOC roleplay.

If people go to the proper effort of roleplaying hiding small items like lockpicks, drugs etc inside food, lining of clothing or other reasonable places and then take a screenshot of the rp with /time then DOC guards are pretty competent in acknowledging it as valid smuggling roleplay.

Usually this kind of smuggling RP requires more thought and realism with how it's executed but if you do it well then they're receptive. (By this I mean no guns or knifes up the bum or /do you wouldnt feel a baseball bat during pat down)

A good example I personally saw first hand was in a visitation where the visitors had a knife hidden inside of a submarine sandwich inside the bread with butter on top covering it to get it past the initial search and then during the visitation distracted the guards by saying their vehicle out front was being lockpicked and then handing the knife over to the inmate amidst the commotion for them to later use inside prison.

Not everything needs to be as elaborate as the above example, something as simple as /me would hide a small baggie of crack inside my sock and wedge it between my foot and shoe prior to any sort of arrest on the off chance you went to jail could go a long way to facilitate this kind of RP.

In 2 years of being in DOC I have always wanted a gang that puts a lot of effort into smuggling things into prison but unfortunately no group has put in the effort for that.

On the last point. There's not real incentive for a gang to put the effort into smuggling things into jail unless there is something they can get back from it.

RP can be the incentive, but there should be more to accompany it. Who is gonna risk jail time, probably thousands of dollars as well as a bunch of time setting something up with no clear objective/reward. Perhaps have a possibility of making a specific type of drug in DOC where the only way to get it out is by establishing this smuggling ring,.

What about adding some sort of feature where factions can put in influence/smuggled shit into a dealer. That specific dealer smuggles in to the jail "more influence better chance of succeding 100% of the items or less. Like knifes, lockpicks, cigars, blunts, food (small stuff that can make jail so more interesting and fun)  When that faction comes into jail they already have stuff stashed away somehow or they need to buy em from a dealer for stamps or something.  That would be a script way to do it where it can "profitable" for the factions to do it.   And when some or one member of those factions are in jail, they can RP deal with civillians.  As a gang member obviously should have a pretty respectable image from civillians comming into jails. Always find your group when in jail. If two factions are in jail this would also make interesting gang rp inside jail. Like shit talk turns into a person stabbed and the guards need to deal with the situation, check cctv and etc etc.
