NotKempi Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 With the new E-ID there's a current issue where the only way for a cop / deputy to see your license is to go through your phone, this gives them full access to your phone and is likely to be abused by cops to go through your phone past just checking for an ID. This means that now, every time a criminal is arrested they have to be content with giving LEOs full access to their phone without a warrant which defeats 95% of the purpose of a criminal using their phone. Having players have a basic ID that just shows their name usable with /showlicense would help combat this, where after a name is gotten PD / SD can use the MDC to check license status on the suspect. 3 Quote

Aidrdrop works fine for traffic stops, not for arrests. Additionally as noted, phone can also run out of battery or opt to not have a phone which would leave players in a situation where they cannot be identified. If said player doesn't have prints in the system would be left in a state where they are just indefinitely detained until GOV issues a "temporary ID", something which has happened before and took several hours Edited April 27 by NotKempi Quote
DoubleA Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 keep /license!! +1 or an alternative - make the ID a Physical item locked to your inventory (wont disappear if you die) where you can right click and view if you’re an LEO. Place it in a spot near clothing if you purchase a fake ID, you can show them the fake ID but it would be an item you can lose, so would not be locked. I’d still have to see what this fake ID system is like since I haven’t seen it, just heard and seen pics of it 2 Quote

Bala Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 If it ain't broke, don't fix it and if it works, don't change it. Perfectly fine aesthetically putting on the phone but the command is always more practical. Quote
RustyOsprey2 Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Just check their fingerprints. If they dont have fingerprints, take their fingerprints and then check them? Quote

Not realistic in the slightest though, irl you take someone's finger prints but you need a name to assign the prints too, there's not just a huge pile of prints. If someone has never had prints taken then how would you assign those prints to someone? Quote

If they dont have fingerprints, take their fingerprints and then check them? Arguably borderline metagaming to /collectprints when you don't have the name of the person you're adding the prints to. Works for PD as you've been given permission to, but not SD or DOC AFAIA This shouldn't even be an argument. We should not need to create hours of headaches and staff discussions for something that is a 2 minute fix Edited April 28 by NotKempi Quote
Demonmit1 Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Ive had the situation happen in game already. Taking and then checking prints to get a name is not allowed per staff. I submitted a bug report and it was denied that this is an intended game mechanic. The only reasonable outcome, which staff had said to do, is just leave the person in a holding cell in perpetuity as they are refusing to identify and we have no means to identify. The player has effectively bricked their character and will be stuck in holding forever as there is no way to forcefully identify them without breaking rules. If people want to make that decision for their character and play out that RP, I guess go for it. Quote
Eliza Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Digital licenses are cool, don’t get me wrong, but letting a cop go through your entire phone just for them to see your identification just ain’t it. 1 Quote

Not sure if I'm correct here, but would showing a fake ID, which is a crime, then give probable cause to search the phone, same as how using a vehicle in a crime gives probable cause to search the vehicle?
