Criminal Events

Hello Eclipse Community,

As many of our community members are aware, the server’s Event Team creates events throughout the year with activities such as races, fairs, etc. that anybody can participate in. While these events are a fun way for the community to come together, we do understand and acknowledge that there are players on our server who would like to see events more geared to their style of play. This is, of course, our criminal/illegal community.

In the past, we have attempted to bring large scale server wide illegal events to the server and unfortunately these events did not end well. Some of our older playerbase may recall the Airplane Crash and the Money Truck Heist, both of which resulted in many reprimands and eventually the indefinite halt of large scale illegal events hosted by the server.

With that said, we are excited to announce the revival of server run/supported illegal events for the community. While this is still a work in progress, as staff we are looking into how to effectively bring these events back to the server. It is understood that many in our criminal playerbase find themselves doing the same thing every day which admittedly can get a bit repetitive and can lead to boredom/lack of enjoyment.

Bringing these events back to the server is not something we are taking lightly. There will be lots of monitoring as well as a large dependence on the community to uphold standards and work together to create a positive outcome. We want this to succeed and for our illegal players to have something new to be a part of.

If you have suggestions on events, guidelines or anything else that you as a community member feel needs to be considered or heard, please do let us know. We expect no bickering when hearing feedback and having a discussion as a community.

Sincerely,
Aldarine & Lewis

Create a Game Master staff role that is not tied to reports.

Have the people in this role do nothing but create RP scenarios whether that's impromptu or planned.

Give them the same tools senior admins have in order to accomplish things the regular script can't.

Many criminal role-players enjoy racing events. There have been entire factions dedicated to street racing and setting up racing style tournaments. I recommend creating events geared towards racing, whether that be legal, or illegal. This type of event would be easier to setup than others and should have lower risk of "getting out of hand" compared to anything that may deal with stealing things or shooting. While criminals can setup street races without the assistance of the events team, having mapping setup, someone to moderate it and maybe even give out prizes of some kind may make it more interesting.

One other idea that many players have suggested in the past is some kind of big heist. Setting up something at the main city bank for example where a large scale robbery would take place. This can be difficult without some script support, but maybe admin staff could be used as hostages, bank tellers, etc and also have the event team spawn in some "valuables" for the criminals to steal, and maybe even some interesting get away methods. This concept could be expanded to other types of heists or robberies as well.

I am in complete support of large faction events, no matter the legality and I look forward to getting involved.

I think one of the main important things is (being an experienced D&D Dungeon Master, and MMO/Online 'storyteller') to negotiate with those involved actively and reactively so you can better get an idea of who wants to do or would do what to challenge and gain from the story. While it would add a lot of oversight this would allow you can better control the narrative and have contingency plans ahead of time so the story has more of a direction, instead of a chaotic mess.

Maybe a few rules in place around 'storyteller events' which somewhat lock you into specific path, with various outcomes, still allowing freedoms, but with minor limitations. Some of these event could even be done in a different dimension and could be planned ahead of time with a very specific amount of people via request / announcement, "there is a storyteller event going on at this time, we need 8 law enforcement, 3 civilians.", present the basic narrative, then let the players engage with the activity in a more creative manner without interruption versus pew pew.

I am thinking of an event where law enforcement and the government have to transport money to the big banks, and gangs try to intercept and steal it

a couple of ideas I have.

Bring back the car heists, but this time, instead of having a car abandoned in a lot, maybe have a few staff members near it to introduce the stealth mechanic.

Money truck jobs, every now and then text a random criminal faction regarding a planned money transport, and have the driver take a route, with a lunch break allowing players to choose between stealth or brute force.

(payout around 50k-100k)

Random little side jobs

such as delivering a HVT, obtaining information or providing armed security for a meeting.

- Decrease the amount of events surrounding "legal" racing (e.g go-karts et similar) as they get extremely repetitive and overdone and incentivize illegal tournaments, similar to the racing league Midnight hosted through last year. Approach the players who organized said events, such as @Umzzy, to get a first-hand perspective on what kind of support the staff team could give.

- Bring back car heists. It was legitimately something well done, enjoyed by everyone, and that did not necessarily require pvp, which seems a win-win. I understand the last time it did not go well, and having your Cartel character being caught might be more than mildly inconvenient; however, there are easier solutions and approaches around it rather than taking it away entirely. Have LFM use peds, have them act as "middleman" for the Cartel to minimize risks.

- Business heists. As an example, 2 allied factions could get asked to plan an elaborate heist for Motorsport to steal a spawned-in supercar and deliver it to X spot, in exchange for a symbolic cash prize. Same thing goes for something along the line of the jewelry heist Irish did a while ago @skeletee or providing proper alt-rp support for a una-tantum MAJOR bank robbery at the Los Santos Bank.

- Not really criminal-focused, but I think we should incentivize roleplay scenarios that involve the entirety of the server population, either directly or indirectly.  A couple of years ago, @Wolokai142 with the Palmer Taylor incident managed to involve both criminals, LEOs, and civilians with the power outages all across the server. Creating the same kind of scenarios, whether that'd be the dam breaking, the main floor of pillbox burning down etc etc etc would spice things up for everyone.@Bala  is great for mapping and these sort of stuff.

Certain objectives that all gangs get announcements for, and gangs need to secure and hold x area.

For the folks suggesting things like gov transporting money, crims have to hit it,. not in support of that for many reasons I dont need to mention.

If there'll be criminal events I prefer them being crim with crim, we kinda understand each other more, and know how to play together / against each other, and kinda now how to have fun with what we got, despite all the beef and OOC drama you see sometimes.

Examples of an event.

A new Cartel arrives to Los Santos, stations in Cayo, Our Cartel (FM) sends to all gangs, that whoever manages to secure Cayo gets x reward, or things of that sort, where gangs engage in RP scenes, leading up to competing over some sort of objective,

For example: A leak about a group having an operations that creates X weaponry  or Munition , can be something special say like grenades, and you go through a mission style roleplay, leading to shooting, and rewarded gang gets lets say a few one time use grenades or something, that's also up to staff to make the rewards enticing and interesting, from a criminal side.

Some events can be PVP oriented, but include RP build up to it, and some story aspect instead of a TDM , or "Last man standing" like Aldarine frowned upon

Maybe something as simple as an admin spawning a very high end sports car, The Cartel can ICly reach out to factions, tell them "Hey guys, we're interested in this vehicle, can you guys retrieve it? There's a big bounty for it." It doesn't always have to be something big and crazy, more simple stuff like that every now and then could go a long way.

Events are great, especially when they are well planned out and executed, but I can't lie, i'm more concerned what happens (or doesn't happen) in the dead space between events right now.

So, like as far as my involvement, I ain't really got the time.

But, I wish Aldarine and the rest of the event people the best with it, they do some really sick mapping.

This may seem like a small event, or not an event to some. But back in 2019-2020 admins in cartel would drive around two stacked with a "cartel" looking PED on. These cartel PEDs only spoke Spanish as well, so having someone in your faction that ICly is Hispanic or knows how to speak Spanish was a bonus. This was really cool to see and interact with. Small stuff like this would also be cool to see return. I have more to add that I'll edit into this post later : D

Thank you so much for all the input thus far! I really appreciate the thoughts and ideas and will be working on seeing how we can make what you want to see happen!

Keep the ideas rolling in be it small or big events!

Hello!

To keep people relatively accountable, me these events a PER gang thing.

1: Gangs can activate these events by paying for "Intel" as a drop item form their dealer.
Obviously these are only available when it's their turn to buy it.

This intel will give a time and place and type of event that will happen and the Gang needs to keep it between themselves, and work out a way to act upon the intel as quickly as possible.

2. there maybe be a floating drop in the ocean, the crims would have to find/buy a boat and look for the drop in an approximate area, the police will receive the same intel as soon as the package has been touched.

3. The crims then need to race to secure the package either by deploying multiple boats/ jetskis etc to race back.

Inside the package is the Vault number they need to drill under a bank which will give them a packed cash worth 200k/ an illegal rare item such as Molotov's/ Tasers etc.

The cops will not receive intel as to which bank.

Behaviour on these will be filtered down from the admin monitoring to FM who will use the information, how they prepared and organised, how well they followed their hierarchy etc to give them bonus points towards their next promotion.

We have the cartel, how about an infamous Underlord!

The underload puts a "hit" out on someone who is in hiding and each gang gets this info fed to them, the Underlord is promising a great reward for whichever group brings the body to him.
Gang must find, assassinate and bring the body to a pre-determined location.

To encourage roleplay:
You can only find out who the person is by RPing with them, they'll be masked or un-aliased and will be "nervous".
They could be eating at a random restaurant, or trying to make a cash deposit at the bank, they could even be standing in the lobby of an apartment because they forgot what floor their girlfriend lives on, or just looking at cars to buy.
If the person playing the target does not feel like adequate RP has been given, he doesn't give his name. (and he isn't carrying ID)

To discourage DM:
Gangs who just start shooting randoms or try to ruin this experience for others receive a demotion.

Bonus payout days, but definitely would need script support.

Basically scripted turned in items into npcs would have a much larger percentages due to "supply and demand"

Every few days just have an item that gets picked to get a bonus reward for being turned it. This will help create an incentive to store things more rather than just clearing out things as collected but also generate extra activity in different areas to utilize the bonus. So for a day certain car parts, drugs, or whatver wouldget a much higher percentage payout. Nothing too overpowered or expensive but like tires for example for a day would have a far higher payout than usual.

This would open the door to more pvp activity unfortunately from watching for people delivering goods but it would be all over due to the number of npcs to sell to.
