  1. I've "gambled" at a legal race before, organized by you guys. Won too. I don't believe it's considered illegal if you get the IC permit. Not to mention technically you can make it a participation fee, and then the organizer gives a prize to the winner.
  2. I've seen several wanted races where they got permits, and even though police was present to observe they did not interfere, no one was arrested and the races went through smoothly. I don't see how having police present in a civilized city at a large gathering of individuals is painted negatively. Unless you plan on breaking laws while racing, which is not OP was talking about.
  3. This is a good point as well. Going to prison is a big part of criminal life that was overlooked previously as most people tabbed and watched an episode of GoT.
  4. If you don't want to go to prison, be smart about committing crimes. There are a good amount of criminals that have only been arrested a couple of times.
  5. How is it fair to rob people over 200 times and then have to sit out based on that? Because all of those people had to work for their stuff too.
  6. If life (permanent) sentences are implemented for cop killers, and you shot at cops before, I could see you making an argument of having nothing to lose. However in the current state, this is not needed.
  7. I'd be in favor on two conditions 1. The Judges are not allowed to have any alternate characters in criminal factions to avoid any conflicts of interest. 2. If there is no Judge available, the person will have a choice between accepting the charges or waiting in prison until a judge is available.
  8. How about the players that you're affecting with your robberies and other crimes committed? Should there be a cap on how many times a faction is allowed to rob civillians? How many items they can take a day?
  9. I agree. If you get prisoned, RPly you would've went through trial where all of this would've been open information. You should get told what charges you got given, and by which officer, time and date. +1 The thing about complaints, that's private for a reason. In real life too. You can not see complaints other people made.
  10. Judging by his username he was one of those people that racked up 200 reckless operations for the luls, and got in pursuits daily. He won't be doing that anymore. Working as intended.
  11. Good example. OP would see that as charge stacking, but is perfectly reasonable.
  12. Hey. I don't think a reaction would be enough compared to all the effort you put into this. I appreciate it, and you. Thank you for taking the time to write all that.
  13. Sure. Because there are certain times when doing so is a lesser harm than letting the vehicle drive away without shooting at it. For example if four people just gunned down three cops, and they all get in a contender, that's not going to be a one twenty minute pursuit while their friends setup for a second ambush. They're going to be stopped. People that haven't shot themselves will rarely be fired upon, I'm talking less than 1 out of 100. Because if that were the case, the officers would NEVER EVER unimpound your vehicle again, as they would be buried in paperwork, because in los santos there is an Afghanistan cca 2001 level of firefights. There are timezones in which there are literally three firefights happening at the same time. Because the charges aren't long enough to justify it compared to IRL. It doesn't make sense to have a person compile a casefile, have it reviewed only for the person to get three hours of prison. If you would get week long sentences instead of hour long sentences, I'd be up for a system like that. To put it simply, cops don't have that, unless you are being very reductionist. There are about 110 cops in the LSPD, about 15 of them are members of SWAT, of those 15, about 7 of them are certified to use the sniper rifle. So the smallest percentage of the small percentage of players that are cops in the server have it. And they have it because people are not supposed to fight SWAT, when SWAT rolls up, the only response should be to run, but people, because they have a lot of advantages (numbers, assault rifles, even armor now) sometimes try to fight them, and the sniper rifle is the ultimate advantage, meant to push you away from such an action. However even with that, I can think of at least a dozen situations in which SWAT lost a gunfight. It's meant to provide a stable platform for IC communications during moving situations. You will rarely have criminals update their locations during pursuits as they already do with the in-game radios, cops should always have more organization and teamwork, and having good, reliable communications is a good way to ensure that happens. It works the same way as you not having to buy a new car every time you dump it into water by accident, or lose it in a gunfight with a rival gang. It just appears again. Because in every roleplay server where that has been allowed, people look for petty reasons to rob cops in order to get guns, whereas in real life no one would rob a cop for a gun. It's roleplayed as their radio having a GPS system on it, many criminals take away the cop's radio, and they will no longer use the panic. It happens quite frequently. Because some sports cars are above-average and some supers are below-average. There are about 10 sports cars that are faster than the cruiser, the schafter V12 is a famous over-used example that will easily lose a cruiser on the highway. High top speed supers also lose cruisers in a matter of seconds (811, Banshee 900R, X80). The cruiser is simply an above-average sports car. See the answer for evidence regarding shootouts. There is too much crime happening for that to realistically be possible. If we reduced our crimes to realistic rates, we could see such a system. For example in 2014 there were 260 homicides in Los Angles. I'm pretty sure Los Santos does that daily. Seems like we only want roleplay that fits outcomes we want, doesn't it?
  14. You can't sit in prison because you have to go to work (No AFK timer by the way), but what about the guy you just robbed in broad daylight? He lost his car, his map, his gps, his gun, and then you went on a hour long chase with the cops, and killed three of them. At the end of that you should be able to watch an episode of your favorite tv show and be out? It doesn't make any sense. You did the crime, now do the time.
  15. It is a roleplaying server. If you just wish to rob, shoot and kill without any repercussions then visit a TDM server, or GTA online. Actions have consequences. If you can't afford to pay a ticket, drive slow and pay attention to cameras, as you would in real life. If you can't stand the though of prison, don't commit crime, as you would in real life. This isn't going to destroy smart criminal factions. The LSPD is relatively small 1/20 of the server population at most times, and the areas they can reasonably patrol is even smaller. If you are smart about your crime, you will never get caught. There are several people known for being very involved in criminal activities, and have never been arrested. This is only going to destroy criminal factions that like to rob people outside of clothing stores next to the city center.
  16. Memorize the map, only if it fades away from memory over time, otherwise it becomes a single use item. The GPS in car is a very nice idea though, but I can see that needing to be replaced after a period of time too!
  17. I agree the criminals need more script support, but the IC diplomacy is forged IC and I'm somewhat weary of changing it due to OOC reasons.
  18. Occasions as in once in a blue moon. If someone is facing eight hours in prison if he surrenders, but eighteen for shooting at all the cops arresting him, he would reasonably surrender. Adding a hard cap will give him permission to do whatever he wishes when he reaches the cap, as there will be no further punishment, only the possibly of reward (if he dies in the shootout).
  19. This is amazing. best update of the year.
  20. The problem with fines is that there's a criminal loophole for it, specifically, if you don't have enough money to pay them when you go to prison, nothing happens. People give their money to friends and turn themselves in, then get it back. A debt system is required before we increase fines, so that they will owe money, and not be able to do stuff like buy gas, houses, or food.
  21. How about when criminals rob a person and chop their car, so they have to spend 3 days to get back the money for their gun, food, the money to Mors their car and anything else they might've had on them? Is that alright?
  22. Suggestions are supposed to be one per thread. C.1 is impossible as far as I know. You can't have someone's dimension changed but also keep his body visible in the old dimension.
  23. reading up on the past hoza? 👌

  24. This is a symptom of the fact that the city is so overrun by crime that there is seldom a period of time in which cops will be available for non-emergency calls. This includes ride-alongs, reports and vehicle releases. Instead of automating it, we should look into taking steps to give law enforcement proper tools so that they can introduce some real drawbacks to crime.
