  1. If I ICly obtain someone's identity and /alias them, how is that metagaming? I can recognize people's faces IRL. The resolution in the game isn't high enough to use that method, which is why we have /alias. You can make it so getting plastic surgery removes all /alias, although maybe that already happens? Or the /alias tag only shows up when they're within FOV? Although the latter would take a lot of coding.

    8 gangs!

TFW there are so many gangs and criminals on the server you run out of primary colors
  3. The solution isn't to increase punishment for crimes, IMO. The solution is to hold criminals to the same standard of Fear RP that civilians and non-criminals are. Criminals need to realistically fear death and prison, but they do not, while civilians are expected to comply with every demand when a gun is pointed their way. Criminals playing on the server as if they DGAF about dying or getting caught is Non-RP and should be punished as such.
  4. +1 to setting speaker default to 0.
  5. I mean, most are forced trips to the hospital if the player is downed, it's just they get teleported to the front once they're brought to the hospital.
  6. The way I RP this as an EMT is I usually do "field treatment" and basically get the person in stable condition, and tell them that the doctors at the hospital will do full treatment. The only problem with this RP is the /stabilize animation, since the entire point of an EMT is to stabilize and deliver to the hospital. Maybe there should be no /stabilize animation. Instead, the script should just prevent the person from dying once the medic gets there so the medic can /anim kneel and RP with a person who is on the ground, not someone standing up while they have 4 gunshot wounds and a broken leg. My suggestion would be to remove the /stabilize animation and make it a script purely for the purpose of stopping HP loss, just like /heal gives back health. With respect to OP's suggestion, I will add that given the call to units-on-duty ratio, tying up medics in complex doctor-patient RP at a hospital will lead to a ton of people dying on the street. The treatment has to be somewhat fast because sometimes lots of people get injured all over the map. Maybe we can have permanent in-hospital doctors, but that's going to take a lot more thought.
  7. Another cause is that the salaried factions have strict screening requirements that check for RP ability, among other traits. Most players who suck ass at RP or are just stupid in general cannot pass even the most basic RP screening mechanisms. Then, their only money-making option is crime. The courier and trucking jobs are a joke, so it’s down to farming, mining, and fishing for legal jobs. Those have limited to no RP because they are solo activities that do not require interaction, so they’re boring. In addition, after getting robbed a few times, the ONLY way for bad RPers to have fun on the server is to be a criminal. This is why you have so many people “RPing” a badass criminal who fears no one and basically powergames, leaving the other person in a “RP” with no ability to Roleplay back. When I get robbed, if I do anything other than comply with demands, like RP fear by actions and words or begging or something, they just shout the same thing over and over at me, threaten reporting for stalling RP, etc. Literally when I get robbed, these are my keys: Ctrl + 1 /down /do yes /acceptfrisk That’s it. I try to say or do anything else and it’s just fucking chaos. RPing with criminals on this server sucks because they suck at RP. There should be more strict review of criminal RP and more temporary bans (like a few days) for non-RP. Edit- This shit criminal RP frustrates both faction players and civilians, leading to constantly escalating OOC tension between (new and/or dumb) criminal players and non-criminal players. Of course I’m sure many people RPing criminals do an excellent job, but those people also are not chain robbing. It’s the regular criminal RP players who are terrible.
  8. It's been mentioned everywhere already, so I don't need to reiterate the problem of people "RPing" criminals running around with guns, finding every joe schmo on the road, point a gun, yelling "HANDS UP", typing /frisk and /do success?, and then making off with everything the player has, from burgers and water to radios and guns, and then driving off with the player's car. Not only is this garbage RP from the get-go, but wanton chain-robbing should be considered a violation of Fear RP. There's a reason why people don't get robbed at gunpoint constantly in real life. Criminals are both afraid of prison and also afraid of being killed by the police. Yet on the server, criminals behave as if they have zero fear of the police. They willingly get into shootouts, they don't care about getting caught, and they're more than happy to rob, stash, and deposit, and then get into a shootout and afk in prison once the cops finally catch up to them, if at all. Fear RP needs to extend beyond merely complying with everything someone says when they have a gun pointed at you. The whole point of Fear RP is to create a realistic RP scenario. The consequences of either capture by the police or even death are so low that player's don't RP as if the threat of violence or death is even real. Either make criminals bound by Fear RP, or change the rule so civilians don't have to comply with every demand just because someone was hiding in a corner in the foundry, using 3rd person view to wait for the first non-new player to walk by before jumping out and yelling HANDS HANDS HANDS.
  9. I get that. I want to donate because I think management, coders, and everyone else involved in running the server have done an excellent job and I want to help the server continue to thrive. That said, I do want to use my credits in an informed manner, so I was just wondering what was "fun, cool or unique" about the Windsor. I tried asking around a bunch IC but nobody could give more details beyond what you can tell by looking at it and that it drives fast/handles well, which is actually good enough for me. I just don't know why someone would recommend not getting it.
  10. Why not? I'm trying to decide what car to buy. Any recommendations? Also wondering what about the SuperD makes it so expensive (both in credits and cash), aside from its looks, which seem rather ordinary to me.
  11. Does anybody own the Windsor? Wondering if it’s a good car.
  12. Maybe make wearing masks sufficient probable cause for a police officer to stop and frisk? It is suspicious after all.
  13. It's also weird that cops aren't allowed to camp known criminal spots, or camp the foundry/fishing spots, but criminals can camp them so they can chain rob civilians.
  14. This makes a lot of sense. Currently, the price of "fun criminal RP" is borne by new players trying to make enough money to buy a car so they don't have to jog from the bank to their bus driving job. It makes no sense that the ultra-wealthy of the server, such as people who can afford multi-million shops and properties, are not the primary potential victims of crime. If the rich were at risk of losing money to crime, they would be incentivized to hire private security, which would open up an entire industry of RP. I believe there are people who are trying to get private security businesses off the ground, but nothing is going to work unless it's more profitable than chain robbing. Although I guess the server does a pretty good job of emulating real life in that the rich can have fun and do whatever they want, while the poor have to drive a truck in circles and do nothing else but get robbed on occasion (or turn to crime). "But the poor can RP!" Sure, if they never want to be able to afford more than a $10k sedan, because they can't make money while RPing anything other than a delivery driver or a miner. It is also a little jarring walking past the constant Halloween party outside the bank, speaker and all.
  15. I only started playing on the server yesterday, but I will agree that it feels like my job is to drive a truck around and hope to not get robbed. There doesn't seem much else for civilians to do, as the jobs (especially the most profitable ones like farming and mining) require zero player interaction, so I just drive around to try and make enough money for a car while hoping that nobody decides to jump me as I'm leaving the foundry.
