  1. In regards to the fact that you pay for the armor, that is because you own the armor. The fact of the matter is that as a criminal you can do whatever you want to do with your assets. The car that you drive will more often than not appreciate in value tremendously (see Hakuchou Drag, Comet Retro), the interiors that you own can quite literally turn into a money printer, the weapons that you own can be re-sold for profit or used to rob others for their assets. Contrast that to what can a cop do with his assets? He can't even pull it out whenever he feels like, because there's an in-character rule telling him when he's allowed to do so. That is why you pay for the armor and he gets it for free. The notion that law enforcement has a huge advantage in terms of weapon selection has not been true for years. If we're talking about the new player that just scored a .50 at x10 the cost from a player that made profit selling his asset, sure, they will have an advantage over him. However, this thread is populated by extremely old players that have, and have used way better weapons than what law enforcement has available to them. A good number of people in this thread should remember how very recently 3-5 special carbines with full attachments were used to wipe law enforcement, and their armor didn't seem to help very much. Pretty much everyone in this thread should acknowledge the machine pistol, and how it quite literally melts anything in front of it, a criminal-roleplay exclusive weapon. The only tangible weapon that criminals do not regularly have access to is a sniper rifle, and even several of those were sold to criminal roleplayers. I think it's time to put to rest the notion that you are out-armed by law enforcement.
  2. I feel that every person in this thread is glossing over the fact that in the same video you see a small group of people fight and wipe law enforcement. Clearly the armor didn't help as much as the comments in the thread would lead you to believe.
  3. The fact that you end up doing the time immediately is exactly what most people want; The average person does not want a realistic reflection of this. The current implementation of the SAJB system is in favor of the criminal roleplayers and against realism due to the fact that it is a video game. What would happen realistically is if we catch Joe shooting at some cops, we would arrest him, put him in jail and he would sit there for a while until an (Assistant) DA would approve his charges, at which point he would sit there for months until a trial happened. We could go to that system tomorrow, it wouldn't even require script support, but I doubt most criminal roleplayers would want that. Every single charge that a cop places on your character is able to be appealed in two different levels, one, with the department via internal affairs, and two with JB. There are checks and balances that prevent you from being charged with things that you did not do; the point of contention is that some people feel that being charged accurately is somehow OOC toxicity. I find that notion to be faulty and one of a person that struggles to separate their character's feelings/well-being from their own.
  4. Properly charging someone with the crimes that they have committed is not an OOC punishment; unless you have some difficulties separating IC and OOC. If your character committed a crime, being charged for that crime can not possibly be an OOC punishment. If you believe that prison times should be lower, individual charge prison times should be lowered.
  5. No. It is not. You can not disable shadows through in-game settings. You literally have to go digging through config files.

  7. will you sell all three for 4 mil?
  8. Vehicles used to have no speed cap at which point the vast majority of criminals resorted to a gameplay style that was very unhealthy and made no sense roleplay-wise. This still happens today to various extents, however, because there is a speed cap, the difference between the most meta vehicle and a "roleplay vehicle" is much narrower.
  9. This will not be used as advertised; this will instead be used for questionable roleplay such as taunting law enforcement by people that are wanted for a longer period of time, or to make meme calls. Additionally, people that want to provide information to law enforcement anonymously can already do so, and have been doing it for years.
  10. Jason Steel - 17 tickets
  11. Members of the community were previously reported and received punishments for the actions described in the original post. Nothing needs to change further than that, in my opinion. There shouldn't be a fear of saying things in-character, but that shouldn't be abused to low-key attack people out of character via in-character chat either. Server staff can review incidents on a case by case basis, a blanket ban seems excessive.
  12. Metagaming is bad, but, if we're being realistic, what can a person really do with your character's name? I don't think removing a whole feature is justified based on what was already provided.
  13. I do think there is merit in the fact that some people would like to see more fundamental changes, in my opinion, band aids are good. This is a change that can be discussed and implemented in less than a few days, if there is strong agreement. Some of the more drastic changes discussed in this thread (which makes them slightly off-topic) would take months and several community heads. I am in favor of reducing the faction illegal faction cap the same way it was reduced before, if you have more members than the new cap, you do not have to remove them but you can not recruit new people until you are under it.
  14. Alliances were never removed or banned from the server. There is absolutely no issue with any faction currently roleplaying an alliance with another one, supporting each other financially, with weapons, or a wealth of other displays of soft power. The only thing being restricted is the massive zergs on one frequency which provided absolutely no roleplay. As OP points out, even joint lab holding and other activities are allowed. Roleplay is not being restricted, and there is no amount of backstory that can justify joint freqs as they were (mis)used in the past.
  15. This is dealt with on a case by case basis, but the general notion is that your main goal should be flight, not murder. If shooting at cops is done to aid the escape, it is more often than not, totally acceptable. The issues arise when shooting cops becomes the goal, and the escape a pretext.
  16. You could do 15+ slots for active VIP subscription and another 10+ slots for Donator status. Should be noticeable.
  17. MPT speaks against your point, because they just started RPing, and in my opinion, succeeded for a long time before receiving official recognition. If you want change, be part of the change.
  18. There was a time when there was no newspaper for weazel, no place to post their articles, no ads they could run, etc. End of the day it's roleplay, if you stick to it and people are interested in it, they will seek your stuff out. Plenty of people had RP-based jobs that paid way better than any scripted jobs.
  19. Weazel News started as a player run faction that was given official status and script support after showing great roleplay and dedication. There is nothing stopping you from starting a competing business.
  20. A lot of people were allowed back, hundreds by now. The only people that were not allowed back are the ones that have done too much harm to ever 'show improvement'.
  21. I personally find it to be the epitome of playing a game and not roleplaying a character. I do not know of a single realistic scenario in which you would dress up as the enemy in the middle of a shootout. People usually throw around false flag operations but those do not happen with you dressed up as the enemy, those happen with you dressed up as a third party, and are not usually combat missions. In short, this is a GTA strategy and I do not like to see it. +1 Also on an off-topic note, I think this is the first time I've ever seen a suggestion split by faction lines.
  22. That is incorrect. Just because you do not see it does not mean it does not happen. I have knowledge of at least two chop shops being operated in the past couple of days, three if you include the one from the robbery video above.
  23. with NPC vehicles you do not need to worry about /showvehicles
  24. A chop shop setup is ~200k, a 4 table 1 vent setup is ~80k; the prices that you're quoting are not set by the server, it's what your character is being asked to pay by other characters, therefore, a result of roleplay. I think your complaint is a valid point if you want to mainly play this game to grind money, but roleplaying is supposed to be about interactions. If you make good connections with criminal organizations you can get everything you named in there for less than 500k (and I mean a full chop setup, an RV lab setup, a 1G and the actual RV). However if you just run around with an OOC friend or two, then yes, it is much harder to play criminal.
  25. simple, no cons, stonks +1
