  1. I think we need to look at this less in the way of "How do we implement this to avoid it being powergaming or metagaming" and more of "Let's just implement this to help cut down on the non-rp speeding through the city." Car theft is too much of a problem and is too easily done to properly implement it any other way. Let's just have it work as simply as this; if you're speeding past a camera your character will get the ticket, regardless of what car you're driving or whether you're wearing a mask or not. Honestly, anyone against having it implemented in that way is part of the problem and will be upset that they can't fly through the city streets anymore with little to no risk. My personal suggestion to speed limits is anything over 100 in the city will get you busted by the camera. Anything under that is up to the traffic officers to decide upon. Getting to 100 is fairly easy to do if you happen to hold W for just a bit too long if you're cruising along at 70 or 80 without /cruise on.

  3. -1 Support I like it, it just needs to be tweeked a bit so it makes more sense.
  4. Huge +1 Even as a member of PD I constantly have super cars (and even regular cars) that will fly past me on the wrong side of the road, blow a light that I am stopping at and even run up on sidewalks. We're not asking that you set your /cruise to 80 and drive through the city the entire time like that, but just stay on the right side of the road and quit racing everywhere. I don't always stop and wait at all lights unless there is a large gathering of people around, but at the very least I slow down, yield and proceed when it's clear. Just use some common sense and it'll make playing the game more enjoyable for you and others. On another server I played on back in my days of SAMP, there was a strict rule for RP Driving. You'd receive a warning and/or kick from the server for Non-RP Driving that went on your admin record. If enough offences came through, you'd be banned for it. Any respectable player or veteran would be driving appropriately because it was just the way it was. We need to make that happen here.
  5. -1 For removal +1 To add option to toggle its display
  6. As it currently stands, it's automatic. We'll apply the appropriate charges to your character and simply run the /jail or /prison command and it sentences you to the time specified within the in-game penal code. The time cannot be modified unless we pick and chose which charges to apply. I personally will lessen the charge, for example Robbery down from Armed Robbery if the roleplay was exceptional or if the player is very new to the server (evident by the amount of experience points). The only other way is to have an admin release the player from prison/jail and then have an admin command run to prison them for a lesser amount of time for In Character purposes. The way you're describing is how it used to be. We'd have to manually calculate the time based on the charges. This was not only abused some of the time, but was for the most part confusing and incorrectly calculated.

Edit the post and don't play around with the font style or color. Can't read it on the dark grey background. I wasn't at what ever meeting this is referring to, but I'm sure who ever was appreciates this post.
  8. +1 support for this In addition to having the O Key be pressed to pickup items, I think if there's multiple different items stacked in one spot on the ground, the text for each one doesn't necessarily have to be separated for easier reading, but perhaps a CTRL + O option to open up your inventory as well as the same "secondary inventory" window we're all familiar with in cars and bags and such. The only different is in this case, the "secondary inventory" when using CTRL + O will show the items on the ground which can be dragged and dropped. Then on the menu you can see a list of items and the item amounts near your player. From this menu you can then choose which items to pick up. I think avoiding adding a "pickup all" button would be a good idea. This isn't really a looting server, so picking up individual items is still the best way to go about this, but cleaning up the ability to choose which items to grab would be beneficial.
  9. Should apply to first or last name change (or both) which I think is how you're trying to present this. This may cut down on the run and gun atmosphere that has been hovering around for a while. +1 Support for this
  10. Just a few boys spreading the Christmas Spirit Officer Jason Reed says: That's one rough lookin' Santa...
  11. Someone who knows coding can correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason mods like RageMP aren't shut down is because they don't use GTA resources and therefore aren't in breach of any copyright laws. They instead utilize the clients resources, hence why a gamesave file is needed for some things, like doors, to work. With that being said, I don't think what you're suggesting is an option. There's been mods in the past that have received negative attention because they are using licensed files/data or whatever without permission.
  12. Demerits are there as a way for us to issue a warning without financial impact. Sometimes we'll chose to give a lower fine amount and a demerit rather than a higher fine amount. The higher amount of demerits don't have a negative impact in terms of anything in the game script or the size of fine you'll receive if you are issued a ticket/fine.
  13. I think a cointoss would still create a bit of upset on the losing side. How about going for an approach that will be in the back of everyone's mind when they decide to create a situation in which they may be gunned down in. If you're a criminal and you're shot by 3 or more cops, it's an instant death, regardless of what the /analyze command shows. Same with PD, if you're a single cop rolling by a situation and are forced to engage and 3 or more criminals are firing on you and you are downed, it's an automatic death. If you have 3 people firing weapons at you, chances of survival are very slim to none. Now of course this doesn't cover large group shootouts, but I think the same idea can be worked in to it somehow. And the opposite of course would be if you're shot at by 1 or 2 individuals, it wouldn't be considered a death, but rather an injury with varying severity, and in this case without the option to RP death.
  14. +1 Criminals should be able to rebuild. Also, I don't think we should be visiting the drug labs randomly. I personally never do unless someone calls 911 reporting suspicious activity at some run-down shack in the middle of nowhere.
  15. EDIT: Crisis averted. It was a bug. Thread can be deleted/closed if necessary
  16. Even being on the police side of this, I would still have to +1 this for removal. Sure, what everyone is saying makes sense, that criminals have to pay for their actions financially and time-wise in jail/prison. We don't have long jail/prison sentences because we don't want it to be an OOC burden on the players for committing IC crimes. But I think the same can also be said for the money made IC. Our personal time is spent playing this game to make money to buy things for our character. To have a script force payment of fines I don't think should be in place, maybe if forced fine payment is brought into effect, cut the fines in half perhaps? Something that is a little less of a severe blow to the criminals who won't necessarily have the money to support their gameplay style. This is, afterall, just a game and we're all here to have fun. I think forcing payment of fines and financially draining the criminal side of things would decrease overall enjoyment of criminal roleplay and would cut down on it. While that certainly would be a good thing in any other situation, within the Eclipse game world, crime brings interesting and fun situations to the roleplay experience. To only have it shot down afterwards through forced fine payments I think is counterproductive.
  17. When you say "some time", how long is that typically? An hour? Two or three hours? And when you say "freezing", does the game physically freeze on the current frame you're at and then it's just a still image? Or is the freezing accompanied by a "...stopped responding..." error and then you have to close it? Grand Theft Multiplayer (GT-MP) is known to have a few stability issues. One notable issue is a memory leak which will cause the game to slow down over a period of time (sometimes within 30 minutes of playtime). The game will eventually slow down too much or it will encounter an error and it will crash. You van visit the GT-MP website and forum to find out more about the modification, the known issues and what is currently being worked on.
  18. For a long while, I have not been genuinely exited about anything; until reading this update. Really hyped to check things out when I hop in-game. Thank you so much for your hard work!
  19. For those of you that were lucky enough to pass by the man, the legend, Himi Jendrix, you would have heard the sweet sounds of his guitar. For those of you who didn't, here's a small video I put together of it. Oh Billy... it was so nice. All music is being played live over VOIP
  20. Essentially the way this type of roleplay works is you act out the life of your character in detail. All the actions you perform are either dictated through text automatically sent to the chatbox from the server script, or from commands you type in game. As others have mentioned, /me and /do commands. An example of /me would be: /me runs toward the parked car. After hitting ENTER, with my character name being Jason Reed, it would show in chat as *Jason Reed runs toward the parked car.* An example of /do would be: /do Inside the car, there are various empty bottles and drug paraphernalia. That would appear in chat simply as *Inside the car, there are various empty bottles and drug paraphernalia. (Jason Reed)* It would have the username after it who created it to indicate who is describing the situation. That is just a small example of how expressive this type of roleplay is. Hop in the server sometime and people will gladly show you around and you can see for yourself how it's done! Welcome to the community.
  21. Hello all. I am looking forward to being a part of this community. I come from various other communities along the way through the years of my roleplaying experience. I recently tried creating a character but was told the name was already taken. I suppose players aren't allowed to have the same name? I was surprised to find the named "Jason Reed" was already taken. As generic as it may seem, it's always been available on other roleplay servers. I've typically always gone by that name. Is it possible to see if the name is still active? Either way, looking forward to getting on to the server soon and roleplaying with everyone!
