Clank Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 (edited) Hi, I don't really post many suggestions but I figured I'd throw one up. Many FiveM servers use EchoAC to scan for any known cheating clients. They get you in a channel on discord, make you screenshare clicking the auto generated link and then it performs a non intrusive scan that looks through large collections of GTA5 RP cheat repositories. If someone refuses, they get banned. If someone fails, they get banned. If someone doesn't screenshare themselves using the scan, they get banned. If someone takes longer than 5 minutes to join the discord FOR the scan, they get banned. Pretty simple! Kinda needed at this point with the amount of closet cheaters on the server. https://echo.ac Here is an example of a scan performed on a cheater in a GTARP server. https://scan.echo.ac/6e5e0358-b4d2-4554-a51e-820ac5c058f0 Edited June 8, 2025 by Clank 8 Quote
RustyOsprey2 Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 hell no, i am NOT sharing my screen to anyone lmao. And especially not pressing a link that a GTA staff member tells me to press that "scans" my PC. Quote

To be clear, they don't look through your PC. You share your screen, click the link and show the program doing its thing. They then get a link back on their end that gives them an analysis. XxTheIrishGuyxX Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 I am always open to ways to stop cheaters. This seems like a possible Anti cheat possibility. However, after my extensive online research (5 min goggle search), I do have a couple of concerns: This is not free, so who is paying for it? I am sure not. Who is going to be selected to scan their computer? Everyone? High risk people (high kills, large money deposits, etc)? A random percentage of the player base? Does staff have the capacity to handle the calls to watch the scans. In this day and age, a link can do anything. I am not clicking a link even from staff. Quote

Server pays for it, its a monthly subscription or a lifetime payment. 2. Anyone suspected of using cheats, on the biggest PVP server in GTA5 with multiple cash tournaments monthly, all players get PC checked weekly if not more. It takes two seconds. Every huge GTA RP server I played on would run these scans on anyone winning too many fights. If you're not cheating, you have nothing to fear. 3. A link cant do anything if its the correct link. That is like saying someone sending you to google.com can do anything. Edited June 8, 2025 by Clank Quote
AnnoyingOne Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 I am against this, while it might be a widely used software, it is still a software that would be forced on people to use. And in the day and age of cheaply available DMA cards, this AC is useless. Quote

I still think its /something/ to help the big plague. Quote

Phantas Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 Wow this is cool! The cheating should stick to relationship rp not gun fights! +1 1 1 3 Quote
CharlesXiao Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 I’m not opposed to this at all Major +1 Quote
tangy Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 huge +1, literally no reason not to do this kind of thing. Non intrusive and allows for far more fair gameplay. Would really love to this on ECRP as so many other servers already do this Quote
Mrpyth0n33 Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 (edited) What do we log at Echo? At Echo, we log only the bare minimum necessary to ensure that you receive a highly detailed forensic analysis result. We store data types such as IP addresses, hardware identifiers, recent program usage, the memory of processes running on the computer, and login activities. All this information is essential to determine whether a player might be cheating or not, and with every update, we aim to log less. Do with this statement from echo themselves as you wish, I for one am not clicking on any link that gives a random company access to store all that personal information on their own databases Edited June 8, 2025 by Mrpyth0n33 Spelling correction Quote
AnakinB Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 rather would do this than have to deal with the insane amount of people who suck and start cheating. Quote
Harveyyy Posted June 8, 2025 Report Posted June 8, 2025 +1. Half of the criminal population are cheating, and ever since that certain someone was forced out by certain people, more cheaters and evaders have swarmed in. 2 3 Quote

Apex Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 (edited) Since people are so worried about their privacy as if their info isn't already being sold to the highest bidder. There's another software that I have used before for PC scans, it doesn't go through that hassle but just shows what .exe processes are currently running. Same concept, drag in vc, send file, run on stream. It'll also show if the system has restarted lately because that makes it obsolete. All of that is done offline btw. No data going nowhere. Alternatively, just like any other server, develop an AntiCheat that actually works or a staff team that knows anything about pvp mechanics and can examine footage and determine if a player is cheating. Now if you really care, do both, I tried it and it works! Alternatively, 2 grand on PayPal and I'll get someone to sort it out, hassle free The third option is obv a joke, but making your own AC isn't difficult, neither is having a cheating investigations team. Thang Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 Just by checking the example result that thing seems intrusive as fuck. If any server would require me to run this I would look for a different server to play on. 1 Quote
alexalex303 Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 Two developers I respect already stated that this is both intrusive and ineffective, being the worst of both worlds I can not support this. Quote
Bala Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 I don't support this either, I'm all for doing what we can to make it as difficult for cheaters as possible but I agree with Thang, this feels incredibly intrusive. 1 Quote
Eliza Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 I’m for stopping cheaters, but I feel like this is invasive and not the way to go about it 1 Quote
olowepolo Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 (edited) +1, but no one will like this and the admins will not approve of it. They could make their own AC, but as usual it’s too much effort. I think people tend to associate the whole screen sharing discord calls with a terrible RP server, so it won’t do any good I don’t think. It also doesn’t stop them as much as an integrated AC would, as you have to actually have reason to get the user to run echo, whilst an integrated AC would detect most cheaters before they even get into a game. PrexDal Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 +1 Even if you dont want to drag random people and ask them for a PC check, have this as a "proof" so when you're thinking of banning someone for cheating, you could at least ask them to run this before and "confirm" if they are indeed cheating. I think this would be better than just banning for cheating, after scanning gameplay. This would give you definite proof. Quote
Rage. Posted June 9, 2025 Report Posted June 9, 2025 everyone keeps saying that it’s a great idea but they are worried about privacy concerns. i don’t think you people get that this is the best we will get. the cheater problem has only gone up over the years and has had no decrease. sure ecrp has a shitty anti cheat that detects blatant cheats, but how else is there to go about it? there is literally no other way for cheaters to get caught unless they are blatantly looking through walls while being spectated. if you have an above average iq and realize staff spectate you, it is not that hard to not look thru walls and be blatant. how else is there to catch cheaters? wait for staff for months and months collecting evidence while the player base suffers from these cheaters while you collect “undeniable evidence”? this is the best we can get. this is a step closer to a cheater free server, but everyone is just denying it? i don’t get it. everyone keeps complaining about cheaters but when something that is suggested that can possibly get rid of 90% of cheaters, people are scared. you should have nothing to worry about if you aren’t cheating. your pc will not be looked through if you aren’t suspected of cheating; simple as. make your own AC, use echo, or figure something out. it’s almost getting unplayable with the amount of cheaters and there has been nothing done about it. 2 3 Quote
