Gameplay Suggestion: Character Kill Applications
Requiem replied to Nubbsauce's topic in Game Suggestions
There are two primary problems you may not be considering with this concept though: 1) You are punishing good RP. If you actually have a good RP story arc with deep character development, even if you are the snitch in your above example, why should creative and good RP development after months of buildup be punished with a CK? ESPECIALLY without you even knowing about it. This would demoralize the server and its players to even go in depth with any of their RP. This leads me into my next point... 2) You scare the players, perhaps to the point of quitting the server, or not joining to begin with. If I knew that this CK concept was a possibility for involving myself in certain situations, some players may be to afraid to lose all their progress and investments to even involve themselves to begin with and may either quit the server or perhaps this may demotivate players from joining. I feel this concept would be incredibly unhealthy for the server and the player base. -
Gameplay Suggestion: Character Kill Applications
Requiem replied to Nubbsauce's topic in Game Suggestions
-1 It should never be someone else's decision to CK your character, only your own. Its not fair to someone that has a large investment in a character to just kill them off without them even knowing. -
I like the concept, but I don't feel its needed in the server. It would especially be a problem if this worked on player vehicles...people would just troll others by taking all their gas and leaving their car stranded somewhere.

+1 easy to implement and literally no downside.

Script Support for Taking Prints off Cash Registers and Banks

+1 Adding more investigative capability would be nice. Easy to add as well since fingerprint capability is already in the game. -
Please can we stop with the "I'm in jail for 6 years" Stuff
Requiem replied to Buggs's topic in Rules Suggestions
When a license is suspended, the penal code IC and LEOs ICly suspend it for 1 day (which is also 1 day OOC). -
I like the idea of remote release capability a lot as it give a compromise to allow officers to respond, without having to physically go there. The only issue would be verifying the owner does not have a suspended license though...

Regardless of the way the private lab is used, it shouldn't be a thing. I can appreciate the suggestion to improve player to player interaction, but in the same suggestion where you increase interaction, the drugs get handed to someone to create LESS interaction afterwards by going back to a private lab, so the interaction portion becomes a wash... People could just abuse this where you have a someone people that do nothing but take in the raw drugs and just sit in their private lab all day and never leave just doing that processing. Its taking a step backwards from what the players want. Just take your suggestion and transform it to a public space. So maybe the island lab could produce the raw drugs for example, then you could maybe have a more sophisticated lab at Chiliad camp or hole in the wall for example where they get enhanced, so that different labs have different purposes.

I believe you are thinking about this the wrong way. Holding a massive public lab, or even doing a bank for that matter, should be "end game" crim content. A bank would RPly be difficult to rob and would take a crew and time and planning. I think it makes a lot of sense for newer crims to do small scale crime such as car chops, picking weed, ATMs. Maybe they find a friend or two or join a smaller gang and start doing stores. Then they work their way up to the larger things such as the labs and the banks with a bigger gang. As far as the comments for the "clappers" rolling around...yes it's a problem now. But think about the long term IC effects. If a single gang wants to be clappers and roll around the labs and dominate them all and fight everyone off, they will create enemies out of all other gangs. Eventually that will catch up to them cuz not only will all other gangs be out to get them draining their time, money and resources fighting everyone, but probably end up on LEO gang units radar cuz they are making a bunch of "noise" within the gangs, so they will have them against them as well. I think it just takes time for everyone to adapt to the changes and adapt to the culture change that needs to happen.

This still doesn't make any RP sense though. Someone goes to prison for just over a month for murder? A month and 20 days for domestic terrorism? Why do we have the in between conversions that still don't make any sense but cause confusion... -
Almost every single crim that said they were doing private lab cooking, said it was boring as hell and were only doing it for the money. Also, LEO's are not sitting AFK non stop. LEOs have to do IC paperwork and submit on the gov website all the time, so that is likely what you are seeing. If you would like to spread misinformation or false accusations about LEOs and how they do their duties, I invite you to make a legal character and join law enforcement and see what its like.
-
Crims goal shouldn't be to fight LEO's. Thats one your not going to gain anything from and you won't win long term (and sometimes short term). I could care less about the money I make on LEO. I play LEO for the RP opps and the job I do on it. I didn't ask for a pay raise, but if someone wants to suggest it, I don't have an issue supporting it. Its not like there was a massive nerf to crims all of the sudden. You say it was a large change, but while private labs were nerfed, public labs were buffed to compensate. Then to go over the top, ALL other sources of crim money making was buffed so there is still a chance for smaller groups or solos. I think the issue here is the change affected what people were comfortable with. Just because the money making method/meta was changed, doesn't mean its bad. You just need to adapt to the change and find what works.

Im confused as to why you are comparing a legal characters money source and a crims source. They do completely different things and it has no relevance to the topic - that being private drug labs. Legal characters are low risk, low reward for their payout, crims are high risk high reward. I dont see how thats a problem? Its not like a LEO main is gonna clock off shift with their salary and go buy a AK and go contest the lab...the way legal characters make money has no impact on a crim what-so-ever. So balance here shouldn't even be brought up. Also, this should be about the RP opps and the fun while playing and immersing yourself in your character and its development. If you think about nothing but money like this is runescape and you are just looking for the best meta money making method and go grind that for 10 hours, then maybe you are playing the wrong game. As for the actual OP, I agree with what others have said. Just yeet the private labs and allow those with the investment to refund a part of it. Its unhealthy for the server and the players alike.

Some jobs being broken as well such as coroners needs to be fixed. The job is unplayable since you can't even get paid. I agree that the bugs should be put on a higher priority. These need to be fixed.

Make a static flag object that doesn't always "flap in the wind" when its indoors.

-1 There are too many factors involved here. How would this be handled with script calls such as store robberies or house robberies? Also, I don't think LEOs would want a dispatcher "assigning" them calls. I also don't think anyone would want to just sit around taking calls as their source of money or RP. That would get boring as hell and we would end up with no one doing it. I would rather devs spend their time on much needed updates on things not working well than adding something unneeded like this that would likely just end up as dead content.

I don't think you can just apply the same concept to PD/SD as crim faction caps. If someone new comes onto the server wanting to play as LEO for their character only to find out its at the cap and is forced to do something else they may not enjoy or want to do, you're just turning away new players from the server. A crim faction cap would still allow someone wanting to be a criminal to either be solo or just join a different criminal faction. If someone was unable to join PD/SD, they can't just go start their own LEO faction. This wouldn't help anything but upset people and turn players away from the server.

No one is "metagaming" seeing a gun. The server script is designed to show the gun if you have it in your inventory anywhere. If the script is meant to show it, and someone else see's it, then its fair game and not against any rules. In the current state of things, you need either hide the gun with clothing items so it can't be seen, or keep it in another container, such as a bag, or in your car if you are going to have it with you to prevent it from being seen.
-
There is a planned large clothing/character update on the way at some point to add more customization options for hair, clothing, characters, etc....

Time Served Or Some Sort Of Alternative To Increase RP With LEO or MD
Requiem replied to XeV's topic in Discussions
I think it would cause problems and salty attitudes if people were judged on their RP by others and given time discounts based on that. It would need to be a OOC time reduction based on time spent sitting in a vehicle doing nothing on scene, and NOT time reductions based on RP quality. So if LEOs have a crim sitting in a cell or car for 30 minutes dealing with other suspects or doing medical treatment, remove that 30 minutes based on that time spent where that player had no RP opps, not solely based on RP quality. -
The problem is you have to explain the RP you did OOCly to every person you come across to make this work. Also, this is considered Alt RP and would require server staff permission to do so since you are doing some that goes against the script. If the Dev's designed it this way, it was probably done so for a reason and going against that would be an issue unless rules or the feature was changed.
-
Agreed with comments above...it will just be used unrealistically. Instead of people properly RPing their injuries, they will continue to talk on the radio and give callouts. The priority should be the medical RP.
-
No one currently users SNS or combat pistols. I think to bring balance to the guns, allow smaller guns such as these to be concealed, but larger and higher damage guns such as .50 should be visible. This would give a purpose to these guns and get them to actually have a use.
