  1. This suggestion thread has taken all of the good ideas from all prison suggestions submitted on the forums and compiled them into one large post for easy reading. You can see most of the prison suggestions here: https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/search/?&page=1&quick=1&tags=prison%20suggestion&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy Inmate Quality of Life These are changes that would improve the quality of the prison for inmates to improve what they can do and the RP available to them. Stamp Rework: Making stamps worthless A lot of the SADOC for inmates relies too heavily on stamps. I believe the biggest issue is that stamps transfer to money at an exchange rate of 1 stamp to 3 dollars. If stamps didn’t exchange to anything and inmates were able to keep them when they got released then they would have their own value not equivalent to dollars. If stamps were worthless and primarily just used as prison currency then they could be more readily given out as they wouldn’t impact the game anywhere near as much. Inmates would be able to reduce time more, they’d be able to buy more things, play more poker and overall have a greater time. This would also allow guards to hand stamps out as it isn’t as if they spawn money in, they just spawn in incentives for inmates. Most of the time inmates don’t mine ore as they see the exchange rate of stamps to time off as not worth it but if the stamps didn’t cost actual money then inmates could get more stamps per ore and the exchange rate of stamps to time could increase to allow them to take more time off for their hard work. Overall this change would absolutely encourage inmates to be active inside of prison to mine and generally just RP as they know there was a way they could spend some time to easily reduce their time, instead of just waiting there AFK. More things in prison store and price adjustments This one is very simple, more things should be added to the prison store. Right now there are three food items, 2 drink items, a pickaxe and a note. Sandwich - 350 Chocolate - 350 Donut - 350 Soda - 250 Water - 100 Pickaxe - 500 Note - 250 When inmates first enter prison with 500 stamps, they can buy either one or two of these items besides water. If an inmate spends a few hours in prison, they’ll get hungry and thirsty and spend all their stamps. If they’re attacked and killed then they’ll lose all their stuff meaning they’ll just be stuck hungry, thirsty and at low health. What I suggest to be added: Speakers - 500 Cigarettes - 250 Painkillers - 250 (Also the possibility of adding a weapon item, such as a knife for a crazy amount of stamps such as 10k to allow inmates to work towards something fun! ) Jtime in hours, minutes and seconds Right now /jtime is listed in seconds, which makes it hard for some time conversion for those less mathematically inclined. Jtime should be displayed in hours, minutes and seconds. For example the above would be: This would also show the IC time to allow inmates to easily convert to IC time. Change the price of poker The buy in price for poker is 300 stamps, meaning that you can only play one round of poker per sentence. This should be greatly reduced, even as low as about 10 so that inmates can play more than one game. Poker has been in prison and was reduced from 1.5k stamps to 300 about 16 months ago however I believe it can be reduced a lot more.. Ore variety & Ore price changes We have recently expanded the yard, giving a lot more room for inmates however the mining spot is still very small. If the amount of veins that spawned increased, as well as more variety then this would allow for multiple inmates to mine at once. At the moment even just one person mining can get through all the ore and then have to wait 5-10 minutes for it to respawn. In line with the stamp rework listed above, ore should also be sold for more. Right now each ore is only worth a small amount of stamps and isn’t seen as worthwhile for inmates, especially if they get robbed for their stamps straight after. Option to stay in prison once time ends There are times where inmates are TPed to the front desk after their time finishing mid RP, or they even want to stay a bit longer just to chill. If there was an option to TP out or stand behind then I believe a lot of inmates would stay an extra few minutes to wrap up their RP. This would also allow some fun RP between guards and inmates where the inmates could be walked out and then they could be released at the front desk. Inmate Additions Bail system Right now the only option to get out of prison early is through the parole program however at least 75% of the inmates aren’t eligible. A system in place where inmates can pay for bail to be released early for a large amount of money (10x the fine) would not only help the economy but would allow smarter inmates to cut their time down. The price of bail should scale per charge, for example Murder is a $14,000 fine and Kidnapping is $12,000, this would scale up to $260,000. This price could also go down with the amount of time left of the sentence. With less than an hour remaining it could scale to maybe 2.5x the fine amount which would really benefit people with longer sentences and money to blow. Prison jobs A large way to tackle inmates getting bored inside of prison would be to introduce more jobs. This would allow for more RP for the inmates and the guards supervising them. There is only so much RP that can go into mining. We are very lucky to have just had the Burgershot freelance job added which creates so much RP. If a similar cooking system was added for inmates where they could make food that they could sell for stamps then this would help them make stamps and give them RP. Prison Job Ideas: Cooking - Similar to the burgershot job except that the food items are sold to inmates for stamps. Laundry - There can be a basket for dirty clothes and inmates can pick these up and place them into laundry machines. After a few minutes, they can remove the laundry from the machines and place them into a clean laundry basket and be rewarded with stamps. Groundskeeping - Picking up weeds and rubbish in the cellblock and yard for a small amount of stamps. Similar to extracting bullets, same animation and some debris looking stuff. Ability to use phone stands in prison For a few hundred stamps, inmates should be able to buy phone time at the phone stands. Their phones would turn on for a few minutes which would allow them to strictly phone people (not using any apps). Access to phones would allow them to arrange criminal activities, phone friends and request visitations. Inmates Being able to enter properties The cellblock is a limited size and adding any new things to it is very hard. If inmates were able to enter properties then there’s a large amount of RP that we would be able to let them have, such as building a church and padded cells. Right now if inmates enter a property then they bug out and TP around for a bit. We would be able to build a whole extra part of the prison with far more customised areas. An alternative to this would be to remove the inmate TP range. For example, if an inmate runs away in front parking and up the road then they get TPed back inside of the cellblock. The prison is nowhere near as bugged anymore so almost no inmates make it this far by bugging out. This would allow inmates to go inside of properties as they wouldn’t TP around. Stashes in cells Adding small storage spaces to each cell would allow inmates to hide things easier. This would encourage inmates to be smarter when it comes to hiding their belongings and items so they don’t get beaten up for them as much. Guard Quality of Life Command to check who is currently in the prison A command such as /prisoners (similar to /taxidrivers) to see who is currently online and in prison would be very useful. RPly we would be tracking this anyway so it would make sense for us to be able to see who is around. This would help with visitiations, headcounts and any situations in the cellblock. No TP for prison or solitary When prisoners start their sentence or solitary sentence they RP to the first available empty cell. It would be beneficial if the inmate didn’t TP around and just changed into their jumpsuit once the /prison command was run. This would prevent them from TPing into a locked cell or to a solitary cell that has an unlocked door. We would also be able to process our Maximum Security Inmates in their own cells without having to OOCly take them back or /carrybody then /prison them. A /dropbody in the prison Medbay This has been highly requested for years by most departments. A /dropbody for inmates in the cellblock would help so much. Right now we have to let the inmates OOCly die and take their stuff which takes away a lot of the RP. Once the treatment has been done, we could drop them at the /dropbody and they could get revived. Guard Additions DOC able to give out stamps Currently the only way to earn stamps is to mine and the only way to reward good behaviour is giving inmates food and drink, which the CO has to pay for. A way to hand out stamps, which would allow them to purchase things themselves and reduce their time would be a fantastic incentive. If the stamp rework would added, guards would be able to give stamps out without it really impacting the economy as the stamps wouldn’t be exchangeable into money. DOC able to reduce time for good behaviour COs can now increase time for bad behaviour but there is no way they can reduce time. Unless there was a /reducetime command then the only way to reduce time would be to hand them stamps (see above). Megaphone from the crows nest & foyer A megaphone inside of the crows nest & foyer very similar to cruiser megaphones would allow all of the inmates to be able to hear orders throughout the entire prison. It is only a small addition but would help a lot in lockdowns and cellblock situations. Scripted CCTV cameras Cameras similar to the cameras in stores that actually work would be useful in prison to review footage for fights and other things. This would allow us to review footage itself instead of having to rely on /do from a few dozen inmates. This would also make the screens in the crows nest actually RPly used for something. Money per /prison This idea was proposed ICly however it would be much easier to do scriptly. This would be very similar to how MD earns $500 per player dropped off at the hospital. Everytime that the /prison command is run, the person running the command earns money. This would be a great incentive for COs to want to process as they’ll be directly rewarded. Lockdown Command (Already there but not working) A “/lockdown” command that automatically closes all cells inside the cellblock and triggers an alarm scriptly. (Alarm details in next topic) Optional: utilise the room at the second level of the cellblock by applying a script to a physical button to start the lockdown, triggering the alarm sound. Upon pressing “Initiate Lockdown”, the user will be prompted with a text field to input the duration of the lockdown (in minutes), demonstrated down below: (The maximum number of minutes for a lockdown can be figured out later to prevent abuse of the script) Cellblock Alarm Sound Alarm sound for cellblock seen it on youtube for the mlo interior found here - 5:52. Alarm scripts/commands will of 2 parts: Trigger the alarm with /alarm_on Reset the alarm with /alarm_off Optional Idea: place physical alarm panels already found in the server’s assets around the facility, which can be triggered to turn on the alarm or reset it. Example: Misc Trucker & Mail Job These are a few suggestions that would involve any players doing freelance jobs. Truckers - The DOC has to get its food from somewhere! The prison store could have a limited stock that could be resupplied automatically by truckers. This would allow truckers more work to do. Mail - Beyond visitation there aren’t many other ways for inmates to speak to their friends on the outside. Adding a system similar to the mail system where citizens could mail items to inmates Update # 1 F4 Update The SADOC has been very busy IC making new divisions and pushing for awesome new stuff but we are currently being restricted somewhat OOCly by what we can do with our faction in F4. For example we have recently founded CID, a division similar to DB and SIB where we can investigate situations that happen in the cellblock. We are limited by not having access to a lot of the things that SIB and CID have. Here are some thoughts we have about changes for our F4: Taking people through emergency areas - DOC is the only gov faction that can’t drop people off through places like pillbox. We have to take them out of the vehicle and use the /dropbody. Speakers & MDCs in vehicles - The first one is just for fun really but the second would help when out and about, especially on transports where we can check the people we are transporting. New Branch in F4 - a detective branch that allows fingerprint tape and other DB things to help us fingerprint stolen items and smuggled items to see who owns them to charge them. CTRL U - Giving ctrl U to both the new CID branch for detective stuff (giving the opportunity for epic undercover cellblock RP) and Ctrl U for High Command to allow them to be able to wear their own uniform and be more noticeable. Ability to use flatbeds - The DOC has the wonderful groundskeeping division and they have recently started writing up a vehicle handbook. It would be awesome for the kind of mechanic RP they want to take part in if they had access to the ability to use tow trucks. Jobs This has been covered previously but due to recent awesome updates and dev images there are a lot of awesome new ideas with how some of these can work! Laundry - This can be done very similar to how the hotwiring system was mentioned in #development where a player needs to press space at a certain point. This will allow them to make a small amount of stamps for cleaning clothes. Groundskeeping - This can be done very similar to how the incidents work where there’s small things around the cellblock that respawn for inmates to pick up. Same as the incidents, this will take some time and reward them with some credits. Removing Old Yard The Old Yard has been unused for around a year and a half now and it is a detriment for employees as they always fall in. We have no reason for it anymore as its just blocking off a large portion of the interior of the prison that could be used for a lot of things. There is no way to go into it and I don’t believe we’ll ever need it. Fixing Doors Currently opening double doors are a pain in the butt. Pressing E to the side only opens one of them and then pressing E slightly closer locks one and open the other. For double doors it would be awesome if E opened them both to avoid one of them being closed and one being open as it can get very hard and annoying to deal with especially with pesky inmates. Update # 2 The SADOC has seen a surge of amazing updates the last year with the cameras, changes to prison sentences and the inmate jobs and with this I have taken some time to think of some better ideas. At the end of the day, the primary job of the SADOC faction is to facilitate the roleplay of inmates so these suggestions will primarily focus on providing better RP for them. Store Additions The store price reduction and additions have allowed some extra RP from inmates such as having easy access to notes and being able to actually eat and drink with their own stamps. Balls - 100 stamps (They are $25 stock) Pool Cues - 20,000 stamps. For years in the old interior pool cues (or makeshift javelins) were the bane of DOC. I feel as if inmates had a chance to work towards buying a weapon they could use for a vast amount of stamps, it would keep them productive and eventually allow them a chance to have a weapon inside of prison. Beanbag Shotguns (Or alternative non-lethal options) No one can disagree that DOC would be a better place if firearms weren't utilised but in the climate of the server they are necessary however I feel that alternative options for DOC, such as bean bag shotguns that can "stun" but not injure would be amazing for RP. This would allow us to perform much more realistic roleplay with the inmates instead of tasing or shooting them once IC force has been escalated. Barriers LEOs and MD have access to barriers. We feel that these would be beneficial for things such as prison breaks and transports that would allow us to actual perform scene management that isn't just standing holding a firearm. This would provide a lot of RP for DOC. Intercom This has kinda already been done with how CCTV cameras used to work where voip could be transmitted over a range. This would just be a UI option somewhere that would transmit the voip over a large area as an intercom. This would allow us to spread information around the prison, inform inmates of lockdown and schedule times. Thank you for taking your time to read this. If you have any ideas for suggestions then don’t hesitate to reply to this post. I will be continually updating this post with new ideas and suggestions!

    DOC

IMO the biggest addition would be script incentives for good behaviour such as reduced time or stamps. Currently we can only punish bad behaviour by adding extra time but there's no way to do the opposite for well behaved inmates. We're working on this ICly to reward inmates that want to show good RP.

  6. Prison Roleplay Guide This is a guide for all aspects of Prison Roleplay, also known as “How do I make five hours of waiting to be with my friends again fun.” This guide contains all sorts of helpful things to make your time inside of Bolingbroke Penitentiary profitable and fun! Contents: Script Support The store Exchanging stamps Poker Mining Prison Time Roleplay TV Laundry Showers Gym Equipment & Yoga Illegal Activities Fights Theft Smuggling Hostage Prison Break Medical Treatment & Death Rules & Bugs Script Support The Prison only has a few script elements mostly in the form of the stamp currency. As soon as your sentence starts, you are given 500 stamps. You can immediately spend these in one of three ways. You can buy things at the prison store You can exchange stamps for a reduced time. You can play poker. The Store With the stamps that you are given when you first start your sentence, you can buy a wide variety of items such as food and drink or tools such as the pickaxe (more on that later). It functions the same as any other store except the currency is in stamps which can only be obtained when you start your sentence, from mining or pinching them from other inmates. (Note: Although there is an option to buy lottery tickets at the store, it doesn’t make much RP sense if you’re prisoned to have access to your bank account to buy lottery tickets) Exchanging stamps You have the opportunity to exchange any stamps you acquire for time off your sentence. You use the “/exchangestamps ###” command next to the store. The exchange rate of stamps to time is 7 stamps to 1-second meaning if you exchange the 500 stamps you start with then you will get rid of around 70 seconds of prison. Stamps also automatically get exchanged for money once you’re released from prison. The exchange rate is one stamp to three dollars. Poker Poker games are usually short-lived in prison as the buying is over half of the stamps you start with when you start the sentence. It works the exact same as regular poker however it is done with stamps. You use the /leavetable command to leave the poker table. (Note: the stamps under the table are bugged and you cannot pick them up) Mining The only way to make stamps inside of jail is to mine. To do this you buy a pickaxe at the store and find the ore veins. You then press E onto them to mine the ore. After a long animation, the ore will be in your inventory and then you are able to sell it at the drop off point. The ores respawn every few minutes so hang around it you want to mine a lot of them! Prison Time Prison Time, which can be checked with /jtime, is counted in seconds referring to it as seconds doesn’t make much RP sense. Refer to it as the following: One minute = One day One hour = One month Divide the number given in /jtime by 60 if you want days and by 60 again if you want months. Roleplay A lot of spending time in prison is dependent on a lot of roleplay with script support. Most of the time the guards are available to help facilitate some of this RP but there are times when they are off doing other fun things around the prison. Here are a few examples of the possible roleplay that can occur. Watching TV Inmates can use the TV in the rec-room and pretend to watch it. You can stream something you want to watch in the public discord and screen share it. Eg. /me picks up the TV remote and begins to browse channels. /me presses select on reruns of iCarly. /do iCarly would be an amazing show! Laundry Guards need to assist with this one but although laundry in real life is boring, it can be fun to RP especially when a step-inmate gets stuck in the dryer. Eg. /me picks up the dirty laundry and loads it into the washing machine. /me presses a few of the buttons to start the cycle. /do After 45 minutes, the cycle would end. /me removes the clothes from the machine and places them into the basket. /do The clothes wouldn't be stinky anymore! Showers Showers are usually remembered in prisons for places where soap is dropped. Obviously this RP can be done if you have the consent of everyone around. Eg. /me removes their clothes and turns the taps on. /do The water in the shower would be freezing. /me hesitantly enters the water and begins to scrub themselves with a sponge. Gym Equipment & Yoga There are a lot of animations to make workout and yoga RP very fun. ( /anim yoga, /anim stretch /anim pullup etc ) Eg. /me sits down onto the yoga mat and crosses their legs. /me shuts their eyes and begins to breathe in and out slowly. /do Would feel totally zen. Illegal activities Fights Prison brawls are bound to happen when you lock two opposing gang members inside an enclosed area. Fights need to be within the DM rules and require valid escalation before occurring. This is the same for attacking guards. Eg. You are currently incarcerated with a rival gang. You have previous beef on the streets and they're mocking you about being locked in a cell, spitting at you a few times. A guard then decides to release you from the cell so you can attack them. Theft The prison itself is still bound by the public robbery rules. You see an inmate finish mining and buy themselves some food? Wouldn’t it be nice to get some of that yourself. Be inventive! Check where the cameras are and rob people away from them. The guards don’t have eyes everywhere. Eg. Another guard has a pretty cool hat and sunglasses as well as a few items of food on their person. You trick them into following you into the rec-room where you remove a broken glass bottle from your pocket, point it at them and force them to drop their items. Smuggling You are able to smuggle items inside of SADOC within reason. You can smuggle in small items that would be concealable on your person. You must transfer the item(s) over to the prison guard when getting changed if hidden in clothes. Failing to do so would be considered as powergaming. A screenshot of the RP with /time or UNIX timestamp should be shown to the processing guards. If during your time in prison, you happen to RPly gain access to tools or weapons then be sure they you screenshot your RP with /time when using them as this falls under the powergaming rule: “Players must capture time stamped evidence (i.e. /time or a non-cropped screenshot with the UNIX.) performing RP that will potentially influence future interactions and evidence is only valid for 48 hours, death, or until others RP invalidates it.” Eg. /me places a small packet of cocaine in the bottom of their shoe and then slides their foot in. /time (and then screenshot) Once you're arrested and made to change: /me carefully removes their shoes while facing away from the guard. They slip the cocaine out of the bottom of their regular shoes and hides them in their prison shoes. /do Would the guard notice them doing this? Hostage You can take other inmates and guards hostage inside of prison as long as you have enough RP reason or you have approved prison break approval (see below). There are a few ways you build up enough escalation with guards from them physically or verbally assaulting you to giving you capital punishments. It shouldn’t just be done because there’s an easy guard to pick up. Make sure that you don’t take random guards or inmates hostage, you need to have prior escalation with the specific player. Eg. You have beef with a guard on repeated occasions, they keep locking you in a cell and have beaten you multiple times with a baton. You're sick of it! /me positions themselves behind the guard and attempts to wraps their arms around them in a headlock while they were unaware. /me reaches for the guard's firearm on their belt and points it to their head. You can only take one hostage per week inside of SADOC as LEOs are naturally involved. Prison Break Prison breaks require a lot of staff intervention. If you’re interested in attempting a prison break you have a lot to prepare before starting the prison break RP. 1 . Decide how you want to RP it. You can prepare the RP by getting tools and weapons but you should not initiate the RP until you have approval. 2. Use a /report 1 and request permission for a prison break Do not start prison break RP without prior permission from staff If your prison break requires a hostage being taken then read the information on hostages above however you don’t require prior escalation if the guard if prison break perms are approved. Medical Treatment & Death If you are injured by another inmate or guard then you have the possibility of being treated. A guard will take you to the medbay and RPly treat you, once this has been done then you can ignore NLR. The guard will also usually remove any items from you to prevent them from despawning and return them once you have died. However, if you weren’t RPly treated then you are under NLR. This means you need to try your hardest to stay away from the people that injured you for 30 minutes. Rules & Bugs The majority of regular server rules apply to the prison however there are a few specific rules just for the prison. You can find the Prison Rules here! Current known bugs: Phones - Although not exactly a bug, you are scriptly unable to use your phone during your sentence. Desync - Going through doors and cells is sometimes desynced. If an inmate or guard is hugging a door then it might mean they have gone through it but it has desynced. Be careful with RPing with people like this. Solitary - Falling off the solitary beds sometimes bugs you out and sends you through the wall. If this occurs, submit a /report 2 or ask a guard in /b. Seeing through walls - Relogging is the best way to fix this. Prison doesn’t load at all and you can just walk through walls - To fix this you’ll need to close the game and delete client resources then relaunch the game to allow the prison to be installed.. Invisible inmates - If inmates are invisible then it’s quite likely they’re doing anims. Hit f6, go to apartments then close f6 and you should see the inmates then. That’s all! We hope you enjoy your time at Bolingbroke Penitentiary!
