  1. And in which country have you seen street gangsters driving around in super/sports cars/bikes? Many crim players unfortunately just do not stick to a good standard of RP either, and PD/SD simply responded by using super cars themselves. Now, you could argue this is a bit of a slippery slope - and you'd be right. A crim player who wants to portray a more realistic character will be inherently disadvantaged compared to other crim players/PD/SD due to the fact that super cars are so readily available for EVERYONE. I personally think people just need to use more common sense, and also need to take roleplaying in general a bit more seriously. This is easier said than done, and most of the playerbase is already used to a server that ISN'T that realistic. Either way, this is going kinda off-topic. I get what you mean OP, but the problem is that spike strips and PIT maneuvers are not viable at all. Not only are they laggy, they aren't very effective when a large percent of the playerbase has very very fast vehicles. Does it excuse non-RP actions from PD/SD? No. In my opinion, it also doesn't excuse what I believe to be non-RP actions from crims (the example of someone in pajamas on a hakuchou with an AK in the back was mentioned - being an extreme example)
  2. Using the LCPD database thing from GTA IV for your character is ingenious. Nice stuff!
  3. Hello everyone - I'm putting this under Rules Suggestions as my suggestion is a hybrid that would change the rules and hopefully add script support as well. I'm going to preface this with my thoughts on the new /stabilize rule before I move onto my suggestion - as some of you may know, MD has a /stabilize command which takes about 35 seconds to do - after it's completed, the patient's health stops going down. Up until recently, MD was allowed to do /stabilize as soon as they arrived on scene - this changed with the removal of Death RP. Now MD has to inspect a patient's injuries, and then when they respond to the RP you begin doing your /stabilize. While this is in accordance of the PG rules (you don't force roleplay onto people) this also does not make much sense, which I will get into it right now: At the moment you cannot roleplay death, and in fact it's considered stalling. The only way you can RP death is if you're scriptly about to die and know that you can't possibly survive. What this means is that as soon as an EMT is on scene, you are going to be /stabilized no matter what as soon as you describe your injuries, even if it's something that would logically lead to death in real life. A way around this is to take a long time to describe your injuries, or purposefully not respond to this... which multiple people do. So, what's even the point of waiting for the patient's answer if they're going to get /stabilized anyways as soon as they DESCRIBE their injuries? Ever since this change to the dynamic of the /stabilize rule, I have seen multiple situations where people do not respond to RP (specifically in PD scenes) to maliciously and purposefully die to avoid jail time. I know this is against the rules at the moment, but this is yet another thing that we have to keep a lookout on and report, and due to the time people take to die, it could be hard to clip the whole situation (personally, my shadowplay only saves the last 5 minutes which may not be enough to get the whole context). Do feel free to disagree and bring up your own ideas in this topic if you feel mine is not sufficient, I just strongly feel that something HAS to change. EDIT: I will say that bringing back Death RP is not really ideal - it was a broken system and there's a reason it was removed - I just hope this suggestion sparks conversation and hopefully some more ideas. EDIT 2: Due to recent events, I've retracted my original suggestion of providing /slay to MD.
  4. While this topic is a little bit all over the place - I understand and to an extent agree with one of OP's points, but not completely. There are times where someone is harrassed ICly over and over, which causes OOC resentment and for them to leave the server as a result. While there is technically a rule covering this kind of stuff, sometimes it's hard to enforce it, due to subjectivity. That rule mostly targets harrassment of the like of someone specifically continuously robbing you or what have you. Someone outing your IC character as a "Nonce" (a pedophile for our friends outside of the anglo-speaking world) can cause a lot of people to start calling you one, and a lot of the server to harrass your IC character as a result. This is because it's a heavily charged subject soliciting a strong reaction in most people - and one that can make a person very uncomfortable, making it hard on them OOCly. And the hard thing about this is if it catches on enough, it's hard to stop multiple people from "joking around" (when in reality it's affecting someone). With all of that being said - that's a hypothetical, and I think that until something of that magnitude occurs, there's not much point in introducing yet another RP limiting rule. To give an example, the new robbery rule was introduced because non-rp robberies were getting ridiculously out of hand. This current situation, I believe at the moment at least, is a non-problem, and hopefully stays one.
  5. Isn't your logo the Ruby programming language logo? Your faction should totally be angry programmers. I joke, good luck!
  6. The amount of people saying "this isn't real life" or "IC issue" is honestly awe-stricking. To address the "this isn't real life" statement, it's a ROLEPLAY server based on Los Santos, which is based on the real city of Los Angeles. It's supposed to be REALISTIC. The fact that you're saying that shows your desire to actually RP. Now on to the people saying it's an "IC issue"; if something is unrealistic, destroying your immersion as well just not conforming to the rules of reality, then it is my honest opinion that this is an OOC issue. You can't come up to a gang of dudes in-game and say ICly "I think it's unrealistic that you don't let people outside of your gang wear your gang's colours". That would be pretty damn non-RP to say wouldn't it? Seriously, If you put on a red shirt in the morning, is your first thought in your head that you better watch out 'cause you might be mistaken for being a member of the Bloods? If you do think that, I'm afraid you live in the late 80's/early 90's.
  7. Certain factions do have a certain age requirements, however, such as the LSPD which has an Out-Of-Character requirement of being at least 16 years old.
  8. I agree with this suggestion, but to a certain point; Instead of just allowing people to afk, introduce a new command - /afkprison. You can only use this command if you have a certain amount of time in jail (i.e, this command is only available for people who have a long time in jail, like 3 hours or more). This command will place you in another dimension (or you're put into solitary where people can't interact with you), and you can only use this command for a certain amount of time (dependant on the time you got, for example, if you get sent to prison for 6 hours, you can use afk for 3 hours). This would hopefully cut down on the boredom due to the time spent in jail, but it would also hopefully prevent people from just straight up AFKing the whole time in prison (which would remove prison RP completely).
  9. +1. Disagree with decision to make appeals hidden. I understand not wanting to "out" people for being punished, but then might as well hide concluded Player Reports. (please don't!) Like people before me said, it allows us all to understand the rules better.
  10. Not to be picky, but wouldn't the gramatically correct version of the name be "Las Calaveras", not Los? Since Calaveras is a female noun, in Spanish it would be Las. I know it's an old gang, but just throwin' it out there. Good luck anyways!
  11. That was only the people that had unauthorized software that weren't crosshair bans (i.e, leaving cheat engine open accidently and the such). Crosshair bans are still valid afaik
  12. ^ don't do that, you already made too many appeals; you were instructed by an admin to wait 6 months before making another appeal. Making appeals before this time's up will probably extend it!
  13. While I do agree with you, we have to start considering WHY people aren't bettering their own roleplay to begin with. I feel like the way the server currently is, it breeds roleplayers that really don't roleplay all that much. I think there's some seriously valiant efforts from factions to try to improve the standard, as seen with the Zetas/Triads/Wanted/PD/etc's threads, but most of the time, this roleplay is just for the sake of posting some screenshots on the forums. This isn't the usual; the usual is "hitting up drug labs, rob people there, unless we're allies, then move on." I think some things that would benefit the server heavily would be: A complete revamp of the drugs system. Remove dropoffs, make it so you have to sell to other people in order to profit. Make drugs something desirable that would bring some advantage. Promote interaction. Obviously, make drug labs portable rather than static locations. This has been suggested quite a few times. Make fancy cars less obtainable, encouraging street gangs to not go around in Comets or whatever. Add a judicial system. Already suggested a bunch of times, but it would reduce false arrests, or give people an actual opportunity to fight against their charges in some way. Allow gangs to actually attack each other without having to rob each other all the time. If someone comes up to a gang and starts talking shit IRL, you bet your ass they're getting their ass kicked. However here, if you do that, it's DM. You have to start robbing them first, and even then, if they comply with everything, you can't damage them. This makes no damn sense. A rule that would address this would be a cooldown of how many hours your gang/you can interact with the other gang. If you interact with them before this cooldown, rule break. If you barely interact with them before attacking them, rule break. This would prevent repeat attacks, as well as actual random deathmatching. Most importantly: REWARD GOOD ROLEPLAY. As it stands, there's no real reason to take the time to roleplay stuff. People have too much to lose currently if they get attacked. Put a limit on how much people can rob from someone, reduce chain robberies, whatever is decided, a new rule NEEDS to be added to address this kind of roleplay. It's the most prevalent roleplay around, and it seriously starts getting old fast. I realize a lot of what I suggested requires script support. However, the truth is, without a solid script foundation, people aren't encouraged to actually better their roleplay, as they're already being rewarded for their shite roleplay. Change things up!
  14. Not to offend anyone, but I think it's just that people are not actually inclined to RP, rather just prevent being robbed and win as much as possible. As far as I've been a part of this server, I've noticed that people just tend to not roleplay as much as they should. I think the fact this is a voice RP server is a big reason why a lot of the server population is less inclined to RP more realistically. And unfortunately, the scripted stuff that is in-game seems to promote this non-RP ruleplay/"gotta win every scenario" mentality, as well as the server rules. I've fallen prey to this kind of mentality here as well, being a seasoned SAMP veteran. Bottom line is, people don't wanna be robbed or engaged in the same old "hands hands hands" roleplay over and damn over. There needs to be a serious revamp of multiple things to address your points. Adding another NCZ would not get to the root of the problem imo.
  15. Considering we have a rule regarding "ooc insults" and how we should treat each other with respect, having a reaction that tells someone they're retarded seems contradictory. Listen, I know it's a meme and all, but really, what other point is there in these reactions other than insulting someone for whatever opinion they have? I do admit it can have its place in IC threads or shitposts, but outside of that, I feel it should be removed. Especially reports.
  16. Holy crap, is that an Age of Mythology reference?! Anyways greek names are always fun to see, especially when I pulled them over and had to say their names.. I'm looking at you Mr. Nikolas Papatriantafilopolous
  17. Would be cool if PD had its own website though, and what they use for stuff other than applications could stay the same and be internal rather than everyone being able to see it. Same goes for SD, MD and DOC. Anyways, really cool idea there! That's looking really good, would be cool if all factions could change it up (other than gangs ofc)
  18. +1 to that! This is the only sane option in this situation. Right now, you should not be punished with boredom (as you spend actual hours of your life barely even playing). I know this is an RP server, but we all must remember that this is still a game. It is not fun to do nothing for hours on end. Doubling the time of the sentence if you decide to spend it OOCly makes a lot of sense, preventing serious criminals from coming back too quickly and may give people a chance to work on other characters they may have, or actually spend their time doing something. Only flaw I see with this is it reduces RP with the DOC. I don't see everyone logging off as soon as they get arrested but I'm sure this would be a problem. Maybe a workaround is making it so your prison time doesn't go down if any DOC is online while you're offline in prison.
  19. I'm genuinely puzzled with all the ad hominem attacks going on right now towards OP. Guys, he's suggesting something that could lower the time you waste as you get arrested. You can argue that you don't like the suggestion but going ahead and attacking the OP for the way he RP's, especially so unprompted is baffling me. The way some people are being so condescending over a suggestion is kind of ridiculous. Ye need to goddamn chill. In my opinion this can be a thing as long as it's regulated well, but if the effort isn't put in to make sure this isn't abused, it will cause major problems. I would be more in favour of changing the paradigm in how RP is done right now though, and possibly avoid this suggestion.
  20. People's Republic of Cork, laaad! Also wtf, is Ballyfermot that notorious? Used to play on a SAMP server where the owner was from there and mapped Ballyfermot attached to San Andreas! I digress. Welcome to the server! Hope you'll like it here
  21. I wasn't around when turfs were a thing on this server, but back in SA:MP, it sure made RP way more interesting. Eclipse really needs turfs. As people have said, crim RP is stagnating a bit and this would breathe life into it and create so many new avenues of RP. +1
  22. Yep, +1 to that! Gotta admit I do use the ID's often enough but only once I find out ICly who exactly they are. It is very abusable though so honestly this shouldn't be a thing. To answer the people in this thread bashing PD, no I've never heard anyone ever refer to IDs as Social Security Numbers. Maybe it was a thing in the past but it's not a thing now.
  23. Loving the frequent RP updates from the different people here! Keep it up, lads!
  24. Heya buddy, welcome to the city. Hope ya like it here! (( I think you're taking this thread ICly, but this is an OOC section! The place for this kind of topic ICly is here: https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/forum/45-roleplay/. I already like it tho, welcome ))
  25. +1. It should not even be allowed to convince someone OOCly to buy a car like that. Lying in /pm, telling someone that they can't scam, and then scamming ICly should definitely count against the rules if it doesn't already. Scamming in general, IMO, is very poor RP most of the time. Lots of people disconnect after scamming, or they RP doing everything correctly then just drive away. This should probably be addressed, at least. An introduction of a "car trade" system would be quite good as well, and as someone else mentioned in another thread, the introduction of a "Middle End Market" or more places at High End would be ideal. The reason why a lot of people tend to turn toward trades is because High End is often quite full, not to avoid tax.
