It's the truth though, people are going to back the point of view that benefits them the most and if you ask a crim on this server if they want to be given charges for the crimes they've committed or if they want to be let off some of them and have to spend less money and less time in prison, what are they going to say? It's not that much different on the cop side. Cops will upvote what benefits them. I agree, crims are just as important as the other groups but who decides what is balanced and what is unfair? Cops? Crims? Staff? Players? For me, the answer is simple, both PD and SD find a compromise to treat crims the same no matter the arresting faction. Yes SD and PD IRL are different but in the context of our server, consistency is key. How we arrive at a compromise though is the difficult part, because ultimately you've got people in PD that think this is the way it should be and people in SD that think their way is the way. -

That's it in a nutshell though, people don't see a need to put effort in unless it benefits them to do so. You're not wrong for saying what you've said because it's something that happens across crim, cop and every other area of the community. What that tells me is that subconsciously, a lot of our players want the speedy resolution and to move onto the next situation. I don't know sometimes why we fight that because that mentality isn't going anywhere, so why not lean into it? Personally, I'd love to give people who go above and beyond with their RP time off but it's not that simple, particularly now. You have JB who will want to account for every charge you make if a case comes through them. You will also have the natural bias of some cops wanting to do that and others not. Some people will have differing ideas as to what good RP is. Some will do it for their friends on alts but not their enemies. That's what it was like before. The vibe I get from being on the other side of crim is that the time you get in prison is fine, as long as you got stuff to do. The prison updates helped shift how prison is viewed now some what and that's great for crims/doc. Prison should be an IC punishment but shouldn't be an OOC one. Maybe there's more work to be done there but it's a start. It's the fines that go with it that seem to irk people because you're kind of railroaded into criminal systems to make money but it so often leads to getting caught that your progress gets wiped and in some cases, you lose a lot more than you gain. That's where I'd look personally, not at the times or what charges people get but at the fines. -

I don't know if people will actually bother to listen to this but while the PD and SD currently have differing methods of applying charges, no one legitimately gets a charge for a crime they have not committed. IA and JB work to make sure the charges are above board. Of course criminals are going to want PD to adopt SD's policy, it's more favourable to them. If I was a criminal, I would probably feel the same way. It's not for me to say which policy is the right one, in terms of the server but honestly, I think having two different interpretations of the same penal code with JB looking over everyone's shoulder is a lot more trouble that it's worth. I don't think PD taking SD's approach works and I don't think SD taking PD's approach works either, there's probably concessions on both sides to meet in the middle. The real life argument doesn't work on Eclipse because the only thing people are going to give a shit about at the end of the day is the amount of minutes and the money they're going to have to pay. They don't care how SD differs from PD until it comes down to charges. Also, if anyone is caught leaking our faction announcements outside the faction, you're getting booted. Been told a bunch of times now and someone will always snitch on you for doing it eventually. -

I haven’t actually noticed a lack of players and speaking from experience of RP servers, the population starts increasing from April for some reason. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

With the amount people turn off their phones to avoid tracing, crims would never see any adverts I'm not fond of weazel posts being any less visible than they are currently, it's hard enough for them as is but i'm sure there's some other way other than the chatbox.

The plan at some point with the character customisation update is to add the GTA hair overlays, which will make the little bits of hair on the side not as pronounced. Currently, it's just hair and scalp so it looks a little fruity. I don't have an ETA on that, but ye, it shouldn't be a problem in the future.

-1 to the original suggestion, as others have alluded, this would finish Weazel who are for the most part an ad company now. That said, we have a limited amount of lines in the chat box and it’s easy for it to become clogged with unnecessary shit. So I think either we need to look at an expanded chat box or find another way to display the Weazel stuff, perhaps as a horizontal ticker along the bottom of the screen or something.

This but also probably being able to preview the vehicle in an environment that isn't going to impair your camera. If you try and view a tall vehicle in Motorsport, you're halfway in the roof and can't see shit. -
In terms of making them more difficult, -1 but I just think sifting through the feedback both for the robbers and the cops responding probably makes it more interesting. Stuff like getting an extra thing to swipe randomly or adding investigative elements to the robbery would help flesh it out more. On the cop side of things, I think it's great. Regular calls coming in, you've got something extra to do, you're playing cat and mouse with the crims. In terms of difficulty, I don't think it needs to be made more difficult. Just maybe from the cop side of things, we could take prints from stuff left behind if it's been touched or maybe we could question the NPC to see how long ago the robbers left, shit like that. At least if we get there and people have ghosted, then we've got some roleplay details to work with after that.

Getting pulled over by a cop is roleplay. Getting searched is roleplay. It might not be the roleplay that you want to be doing but if you want to start bombing cops in empty timezones then this is what happens. I keep seeing Division Six talking about all this OOC hate, I hate it to break it to you but it's not that deep. It could just as easily be OTF or Rooks or whoever else that's pulled. Because you can't get your way, the game is all of a sudden unplayable. Devote the same energy to your faction members not driving around in cars with no doors on or not making blatant metagame references to GBK around Jason/Grace to get a reaction or talking about hitboxes in-character as you do some of these threads and you might actually get some where. I really try to help crims get their bag in the server but honestly, groups like you make it so difficult to have any kind of sympathy whatsoever.

Well, if you lead with the roleplay as being the support behind an action then having DM rights on a player to me, depends on the circumstances. For example, say you are in a traffic collision with someone and you call the police on the person that hit you. In isolation, the person that hit your car would get a small charge, if that. But then suppose the person that hit you has a warrant out for murder and them being caught by the police would be have grave consequences for them. It would make sense for that person to try and silence you, if they could. Because even though they've just hit you with their vehicle, you calling cops on them could have a bigger impact. Same thing goes with insults. Calling someone an asshole isn't enough to get smoked over. If you were to hit someone with racial abuse or something like that, that could get you killed. There's no one size fits all for rules, it's just about using common sense as much as possible.

Here's a thought, maybe if you weren't lighting cops up in time-zones you know they can't do anything about it, you wouldn't be suppressed so hard? You lose any and all moral high ground you second you pull that shit and then deserve the summary judgement that gets dished out. In terms of individual incidents, if there is no one alive to make a report on an incident, it shouldn't be in a case file and I'm pretty sure that there are never entries in that circumstance but in terms of wiping a casefile or anything like that, it's not practical and makes no sense to ignore a faction after they've killed a bunch of cops. You can look at it from the realism route, loads of cops getting murdered would be national news. You can look at it from a game route, it takes a long time to collect the information for these files, wiping them after one encounter wouldn't fly. I don't think that constant suppression without continued incidents to fuel it should be a thing because I can see from a game perspective how that would be a negative experience but at the same time, you aren't going to ease up on a faction that continues doing the same things either. I'm not a fan of the hypocrisy that when cops in early timezones are getting purged, the server is fun but when it comes time for you to assume the position, it's unfair and not fun anymore. I'm sure crims don't give a shit if cops don't want to play when they're getting rolled, yet when it's their turn, they expect the server to change for them.

The game map of San Andreas checks out at 23.7 miles, which upon release, was the largest three-dimensional map ever made. Most standard walkie talkies will claim a range of about 25-30 miles but a regular store bought walkie talkie has a range of about 1-2 miles, particularly in built up locations like the City and around Chilliad. It doesn't make sense for a walkie talkie to have infinite range, any more than it makes sense for gangs to run around with walkie talkies broadcasting their locations and their criminal activities but these are the compromises we make. Realism is a dangerous thing, because if you lean too heavily on it, it sucks the fun out of things. For me, this would be a little bit like the changing armour in the front seat of the car change. Just an unnecessary obstruction for most circumstances where changing a radio frequency is intended and legit. Then again, adding a timer to /fl is also unnecessary as well. I hate those timers with a passion as is.

As someone who supports representation and better roleplay for criminals, I don't think this needs to be a thing and would be an inconvenience to crims in normal situations, so -1. That said, anyone that abuses the instant switch in non roleplay situations needs to be shot out of a cannon.

There's not some deep personal connection to the crims on this server or even a desire to be a criminal on this server. I'd just like to think that I'm switched on to what the server is supposed to be, which is what the founder's original vision for it was. A chill, light, roleplay server. People throw the term cops and robbers around like it's a slur but that's the basis for any GTA roleplay server and a lot of good roleplay can come from that. If you got good shit for cops and good shit for crims, you got a winning server. The civilian stuff is nice for people but honestly, grand scheme of things, that's a side dish. The more someone enjoys Eclipse, the more they will behave the way the server wants them to behave. That might be when it comes to obeying the rules, that might be their attitude to a losing situation or it might just be being a positive influence around the community. You get enough of that going and the server starts cooking again. As a cop, the more entertained a crim is on the server, the more I can enjoy myself interacting with them. The more my faction can enjoy interacting with them and likely, the more they can enjoy interacting with us. More crims doing crim stuff means more things for cops to do. Everyone is a winner baby! In terms of my involvement with development, at most I'm suggesting shit directly or I'm making things to go into the server. I wanted that to be something a little more formal but unfortunately the bureaucracy makes that a no go. You can't be openly critical of people and institutions then expect they are going to sit back and let you do your thing unfortunately, no matter how it might turn out. I've been a bit naive there, because probably if i'd been in the tent pissing out rather than out of the tent pissing in, it would have been received better. Last year, I went to a bunch of the criminal faction leaders and asked them what they needed. I took the main five things that they came back with to Osvaldon and he was on board with them. Unbeknownst to me, at the same time, the staff team had a discussion with NBDY and those suggestions got implemented instead. That's not to say that what I suggested was right and what the staff team suggested was wrong, it's just clear from what we ended up with, that the two were VERY different. My mindset, when i'm not downloading mods from GTA5Mods, is to give people what they want in a way that works for as many people as I can and I think with the things that have gone in, I've done that so far. Custom content creation is a passion for me but it's also a great tool for roleplay servers when done right.
