How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Bala replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
LMAO, fair and balanced. Bro has gotten started on that drug update early -
The Issi Sport is what it is, it's a very good car. The Niobe is a Comet Retro Custom from 2020, without having to kick the back tires in.
-
Please keep this same energy for the Niobe, for the next round of PD vehicles, I beg. Bout to get wilder than one of Diddy's freak parties.
-
You don't have to tiptoe @Freyster - You can have an opinion, like or dislike things. Not everything I do will be a hit.
-
For 99% of the cars on the server, there are a number of options at our disposal. For the Niobe, you need the helicopter overhead immediately OR alternatively, we would need a Niobe of our own deployed ready for the eventuality that we end up with one but do crims really want cops taking out a Niobe pre-emptively? Nope. You need a chase to set up spikes or a roadblock, a Niobe can outrun a regular police vehicle including the STX in around 10-12 seconds with the current setup and the conditions don't have to be that favourable to do it either. We asked for us to get a Niobe IC, to chase other Niobes a month ago and I didn't get an answer so I gave up asking for one. The Niobe is the only one of the current vehicles that seriously needs addressing. When it comes to the others, they're within the lines of acceptability. Not gunna lie, a Niobe takes off on me, I'm going and doing something else. Not going to waste my time or anyone elses on a fools errand.

I can understand why the OP suggested it and there are certain things about it that make complete sense, as it would bring balance to the server in terms of vehicles. Electric vehicles seem to cap at around 180, your non-script buffed PD vehicles are around 180-200. Most supers and sports cars go around that amount so the figure in of itself isn't a bad idea. That being said though, I think that this would be too much balance. Fuck realism, because it don't exist here. We made a conscious decision a couple years ago, to try and keep our modded vehicles balanced. We removed the PD super cars and then we started adding OP credit vehicles like the Issi Sport and now the Itali GTO and Niobe, which sort of contradicts that agreement. The Niobe isn't fast, it's broken and I'm waiting on that to be addressed by the devs. We want to allow for some variation and freedom right? But if that variation and freedom is a box, the Niobe is outside of it, which isn't right. I don't want to see any current speaker boosted Niobe drivers chatting anything about PD stuff being OP ever again, you ain't got the right anymore. I think in all honesty, we don't need to alter the cap, just the Niobe. Actually fuck that, can we get the legal speed limit raised to 100, because 80 is still too slow for how people drive in this server.

Don't see why not, most crims hangout there anyway

You can't question whether or not I get something then when I tell you I don't understand call me smart. Nothing on this server, criminal wise, should be a free hit. Removing this OOC restriction would essentially as close to a free hit as possible. Irony is, that part of the reason that this limitation is more common, is because of the behavior of a section of the players around that time. The cops get overwhelmed and don't want to play in that time, so then the amount falls below the threshold. I get it, you want what you want but I can't see it being changed for the reasons I mentioned. That's it really.

I’m so glad people get the rust reference lol

No.

It's about that time of the year once again, where I show off some of the projects that I've been working very hard on. I did have twice as many screenshots but I didn't want to give everything away and simply wanted to tease some bits and explain some of the thinking behind them and recent map releases. I should point out, that just because things are in here, doesn't necessarily mean that they will be included in the server. The devs obviously have to make the decision of what to add and when. The staff team also likes to have their two cents, either preemptively or after the fact which can complicate the process some but ultimately every one wants the same end product, which is a fully functional and unique environment to role-play in. I really enjoyed the feedback that I received, regarding the lab locations we added a few weeks back and hopefully with the upcoming release, not only will there be some tweaks to existing locations but I've tried to incorporate the idea of multiple entry and exit points, so it's not just the same boring tactic / meta rinsed ad nauseam. I'm going to be having a bit of a break from modding for a bit. Let me replenish those creative juices, let things sit and also give the devs a break from me pestering them to add stuff. Inevitably, being passionate about your work and that it's used in the way that you are proud is also important, sometimes this leads to quite a bit of conflict which gets quite boring and frustrating, for all parties I'm sure. But, I've gotten a tremendous amount of satisfaction out of making custom content for us all to enjoy and as much as it's nice to reflect on what we've done, it's exciting thinking about what crazy shit I can do next and how far can we push it to make ECRP feel personal and unique. Sinner's Passage I've wanted to do some sort of strip mall for a while and admittedly, I was disappointed at how the mall flopped as I felt that could be a hit for the server and it never really got going. I see this as a successor to that. In this little alley way, between Pillbox and Mission Row, we have Sinner's Passage which has the following; Ammunation Rob's Liquor 24/7 Bob Mulet Hair Salon Blazing Tattoo Studio Vangelico Jewellery Store Pet Store Furniture Store (Enterable) Burger Shot (Non-Functional) The Sinner Bar The Sinner Star Wall Something that quite a lot of the community responded positively to, was the Vinewood Walk of Fame for legal roleplayers in the server. The Sinner Star Wall, at launch, contains the names of 65 of some of the highest profile or recognizable criminals in the server's history, these stars mostly focus on currently established or previously established criminals. Fear not if you did not make the wall yet, as a second batch of names will come at a later date that focuses on both currently established and hopefully some of our current official factions' criminals will have gained their notoriety! The vast majority of these interiors are either Rockstar made or they are hidden while their doors are closed, so their performance load should be low. Ideally, this becomes another hot spot like Burger Shot and Bayview but at the very least, it'll allow new players who spawn at the bus station, a great way of getting started with almost everything at their disposal immediately. Los Santos Police Department I'll hold my hands up, I love my faction. I've made a few changes to Mission Row. Some new posters, rearranged the mugshot room for easier processing and critically, added a side door and wall for the processing area, by popular demand. In addition, I have re-purposed Rockstar's Bail Interior to give the Detective Bureau their own shop at La Mesa and as a passion progress, revived the old Mission Row interior at Vespucci, for the nostalgia and the culture. Mission Row is and always will be the focal point, but to support the great work the LSPD does, I wanted to create new or renew environments for it. Tolls and a Bridge The bridge to Cayo is real, where do you think all that ore and wood you were harvesting was going? It's going to be a fucking marmite of a map, if it goes in. I think it should only be open in certain situations and such, but linking the two worlds can spread people out without splitting them up. Allowing people to go further is absolutely fine, if you give them a reason to come back to where they came from. Island Bridge I've added a Midway Island between a certain location on the east coast and the mainland, for easier access, on and off. The ambush possibilities are endless, there is jungle warfare in some parts but ultimately, if you can avoid flipping, it's a quicker way there and back. Burger Shot I'll hold my hands up, I'm sick, I love Burger Shot but I don't like the current interior. I've been trying to get this into the server for the last 18 months, it's my white whale. New Labs As I said earlier in the post, I've tried to think as outside the box as I possibly can with the location. So, we have a mixture of re-purposed iconic locations that have been given a heartbreaking facelift, new locations to tickle and tantalise as well as repurposing some Rockstar locations for nefarious purposes.

I'll be honest with you, I miss the command and having to do the RP, surrounding it. Some things should be done through RP, like cuffing and BLS, wasn't any need to fuck with it. CTRL + X then waiting for the timer, is not it.

I don't like those 'be the change you want to see' comments because ultimately, you're just dooming something to fail really. No one person is going to be able to revive something like that. That said, it's clear there are two issues. One is that the Casino doesn't really get used as much any more. Two is that there is a section of the community that has an affinity for the old poker script, which the new casino hasn't replicated. For me, that's a simple solution. Re-add the old poker script, at a table, inside the Diamond Casino and instead of having people gamble with money, they have to buy the casino chips to play. Now that's not necessarily going to get those first week vibes back at the Casino but you'll have a marginal increase in the amount of players visiting it, to play poker. By proxy, someone might decide to jump on a Blackjack table or a slot machine then, maybe because the poker table is full or just because the other tables are there. Casino gets more foot traffic, server takes a cut of the money out of the economy and players get the old script they liked a lot back to play against each other.

This would be a great fun addition to the server, +1

There are certain times where a menu-like system is beneficial as we've seen with the old CTRL+X or the right click menu in the Inventory. When needing to do different things with an object, person or vehicle, it's extremely useful. However, there are times where it's really not necessary and we seem to have this habit of, when a new thing gets designed like this or the lockpicking minigame, we put it into as much as we possibly can regardless of whether or not it serves that particular aspect of the script. The faction locker menu is a great example of this working as it should but it works because it groups together all the same bits and pieces in a way that would be too cumbersome through commands or other systems. But frankly, things like /stats and /salary don't belong in this menu. The only thing that needed changing about /salary is the amount of clutter in it and that hasn't even been changed. There are six lines PER faction in /salary, if you are in three factions, that's 18 lines. You could literally include all pertinent information, for all three factions, in like four lines in the text box for example. SALARY - $000,000 Duty - F1: YES | F2: NO | F3: NO Hours - F1: 5.2 | F2: 4.1 | F3: 1.5 AFK: YES Jailed?: NO If you're going to change stuff for user convenience, don't keep the things that make it inconvenient!

Gang Exclusive Clothing actually being exclusive
Bala replied to Marksy's topic in Criminal Suggestions
I'd be a little bit cautious of doing that in ECRP, because I'm not sure admins would use wearing faction clothing from another faction as a reasonable reason for violence. That said, IRL, you'd get your shit rocked for that. -
Gang Exclusive Clothing actually being exclusive
Bala replied to Marksy's topic in Criminal Suggestions
Don't like this personally. Factions come and go (as annoying I've seen with the clothing) and players like to be attached to the nostalgia of being in factions from the past for example. A faction gets unofficialed and loses the access to those clothes, they're essentially useless unless your character has them bought. Also, to be frank, I want my stuff to be used and seen by as many people as possible. Not really a fan of putting it behind walls. The only ones that perhaps would have made sense, at least to me, is the biker kuttes as they're an important part of motorcycle factions but for your average OTF or Envy t-shirt? Meh. -
Furniture volume for robbing houses decrease
Bala replied to Charlie2231's topic in Criminal Suggestions
When I'd done robberies as a solo, this was one of those barriers that made the job less interesting. I'm not sure that each item needs to have indivdual weight because that requires additional balancing but like, 5 volume would be plenty. With an empty inventory, that's what, 10 items? If the items are like handheld items, you could probably carry that many things reasonably. -
Maybe we should just spawn the money in your bank account and you don't have to do the activity while we're at it? It's about balance.

My thoughts are that it's been changed and most people have got on with it, probably best to let it go Elsa.

Small QOL suggestion for the icons/additional health bar.
Bala replied to Freyster's topic in Game Suggestions
Only thing I'd change is making the heart white instead of red so the health behind it stands out, the heart sort of sinks into the background of the colour as it is. -
I think this has the makings of a good idea, but also at the same time, it would have to be infrequent enough to not overly inconvenience the player.
-
Adding it is cool, but shouldn't be for everybody, +1

Give the guy his camera man, his videos are the best thing we put out about the server.

@Yputi Thank you for reporting this Yputi, I'll take a look into it.
