Suggestion: Implementing a Knockout System for Eclipse RP I recently came across a feature on a FiveM server where players can be knocked out (e.g., with fists or blunt weapons) rather than outright killed. This downtime represents being unconscious rather than dead, allowing them to recover and continue role-play afterwards. They wouldn't be able to move, similar to bleeding out but once the timer has elapsed, they would be able to get back up by themselves. I believe adding this system to Eclipse would be a fantastic enhancement for the following reasons: Benefits of a Knockout System Adds a middle ground to conflict escalation: Currently, you need DM rights to attack another player. This is a little too constrictive at times, because different situations warrant different approaches. There would be more fluidity as to the reasons to knock someone out in-game, as opposed to kill them and that would be reflected in the amended DM rules. A knockout system would allow for more creative interactions. For example, knocking someone out for "talking smack" without killing them adds depth and variety. Enhanced role-play opportunities: Players can recover and re-engage in the same RP scenario, making situations more dynamic. Medics gain additional role-play opportunities, treating "knocked out" individuals differently from those who are critically injured or dead. Adding Smelling Salts to the server for emergency services would allow them to wake someone up that has been knocked out. Adds weight to killing someone: Killing someone becomes more purposeful and significant, as knocking someone out offers an alternative. Melee weapons gain extra relevance in non-lethal situations. Tackling: Tackling someone would have a pretty small random chance (<5% random chance) to knock them out if they are healthy but if their wellness is recovering, (<10% random chance) of knocking them out. Courtesy of @Ash Prevents abuse of low wellness mechanics: Helps stop players from keeping wellness low intentionally to "die" and avoid RP. Examples of How It Could Be Used Fight clubs and combat sports could flourish without permanent consequences. Law enforcement (e.g., LSPD) could utilize nightsticks or tasers to subdue players non-lethally, especially on @AnakinB Scenarios where someone warrants punishment (like a beating) but not outright death. This change would bridge the gap between escalating situations and outright killing. It would also discourage bad-faith mechanics abuse and with the ragdoll effect that @Thang added, create some pretty funny moments. Knockout Weapons Fists, Bat, Crowbar, Golf Club, Hammer, Knuckledusters, Nightstick, Taser. Kill Weapons Guns. Dagger, Broken Bottle, Hatchet, Knife. Lemme know what you think.

Why bother suspending them at all at that point. Maybe we could refund the bullets someone wastes when they try to kill someone? Is a 24 hour license suspension in ECRP valid? Probably not but at the same time, 4 hours is actually nothing. 12 would be fine.

add planters and importable UV lights to privately grow plants
Bala replied to Sibyrd's topic in Criminal Suggestions
I've already suggested the addition of further plantations, not necessarily just attached to the lab locations themselves, so we'll see what happens. Availability of plants is an issue, i know. As for private grows, not a fan of it, think the server needs more stuff out in the open than behind walls and such. -
Make it available for us to take guns from cops
Bala replied to Harshay_Agarwal's topic in Criminal Suggestions
The serious answer to this is that this isn't the correct platform for that kind of gameplay mechanic. Gathering weapons from falling enemies works in FPS' and such, as a reward for downing enemies in those games. In the context of an RP server though, it would overly encourage behavior that is frowned upon. -

I too have AI generated my response. No. Absolutely fucking not. -
You gotta give it up, that's not gunna happen.

remove the GPS from the ATM robbing" with car"
Bala replied to Ritchie Stones's topic in Criminal Suggestions
It's somewhat complex to sync the object tied to a rope, if you aren't in loading distance of the atm object when it's pulled out of the wall. That's partly why you need the GPS. -

A defining problem the server has, is that it doesn't have any defined direction of what it is supposed to be, let alone what crim is supposed to be. Pre-COVID, we were essentially set up as a cops and robbers server but also, a bit of a grind server to be honest. During COVID, we expanded and moved stuff outwards. Post-COVID though, we're sort of a "jack of all trades, master of none" type server. Solo/small groups of crims shouldn't always get shit on by big groups but at the same time, they shouldn't be mollycoddled either. The key is balance. @tigerpet15 was right, you can do get stuff done if you play smarter and if you operate under the assumption that almost anyone coming towards you at a lab is hostile. I'll stake everything on this but people are a lot less likely to roll labs and fuck with solos for a GPS if robbing a bank or a house or a store is about shit. You can put a lot of the negative shit people do here down to boredom. People who are enjoying the server are a lot more likely to donate. People who are enjoying the server are more likely to put more effort into their roleplay. People who are enjoying the server are a lot less likely to break the rules. People who are enjoying the server are more likely to play more hours, thus boosting the coverage and activity. People who are enjoying the server are more likely to tell others to play the server. There was a rule in retail. If you are happy with a service, you'll tell 3 people. If you are unhappy you'll tell 9. I'll be honest, I've had enough of things not changing and I'm going to give it one more swing with the devs but if nothing changes within a reasonable timeframe, I think I'm done here. The most frustrating thing is that this is a bollock's hair away from still being a great server. It just needs someone with a bit of consistency and direction, with people willing to put the work in and we're fucking back on track. Not just like maintaining what we got but the player count going up. -

The way out isn't necessarily changing an activity people do but acknowledging and fixing why it's the only activity people are really doing. -

Bala replied to Demonmit1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
50% would be about 20 locations, which is way too much. I get you or for that matter some of the other people that posted on here want to cook drugs in peace but it's not really in the interest of the activity for that to be a thing. Think it's currently like 5-7 active at any one time, bumping that to say 10 and increasing the weed spawn locations would be enough. -
I concur
-
Opening all the labs defeats the purpose which is to instigate activity in those areas. That being said, having a few more active at once would be a good idea. That way people have less chance of discovery and more time to do what they need to and dip.
-
Too many people lie with stuff for it to be a purely roleplay thing and having to go through the process of verifying someone's RP everytime someone has hidden a gun wouldn't work. That said, being able to hide it and show it in your inventory would be fine if it took longer for you to pull it out, perhaps with a /me that you are reaching into your waistband to alert nearby people you are reaching for a gun.

Bala replied to Demonmit1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
Maybe I'm talking out of my arse here but I feel like as someone that has seen a lot of change in the server over the past six years, there are certain reasons why Eclipse Roleplay on RAGE-MP might be the server for you. There are servers that do serious role-play a lot better than we do. There are also servers that frankly do PVP better than we do. But I'd like to think people choose us because when we're good, we get the blend between action/PVP and roleplay about right. You've said there that the only thing that keeps gangs together is driving around public labs to rob and kill. I am somewhat in agreement with you there. But that is why it's essential that the public labs remain as they are and I have plans to introduce some new locations in the coming weeks. The reason being is that, I think the best way forward for the server is to try and instigate activity. Whether that areas people can roleplay with each other or circumstances where they'll fight. People being stuck in their own little corners of the server isn't going to do anything but kill the vibe even quicker. I'll be frank, as an outsider, I think the criminal experience on ECRP, just sucks now and the systems that criminals have to interact with have been outdated and boring for a long time. Not only are they mundane, with tired mechanics but they're also lacking in attention any real care or attention to detail. There is a reason why servers like NoPixel and GTA World overhaul their shit regularly. Because people get complacent and bored with the same old things and those are usually within a year or so. We've had some of these systems for years. When they get bored, they either stop playing or they do stupid shit to pass the time. As much as you'd think this is restricted to criminals, it's not, because cops have the exact same responses to these things too and it effects cops as much as the criminals. There is no randomness, no variation. A bank robbery will have BF400s and if you catch someone, there will be a hostage situation. Store robberies, unless you catch them in the store, in the act, you won't catch them. Where have the street gangs gone? There is a reason why factions like OTF and Rooks have lasted as long as they have or why Lost have had the same people running it for a while now. Because they have lent into what the server works best as, which is as much as we call it a dirty term, a cops and robbers server with a medium level of role-play. It's when we over-complicate and try and deviate from that formula things fuck up. I don't believe the current climate support factions like The Souls, who perhaps don't really want to be hyper aggressive. Which is ironic because a lot of the server's documentation and ruling tries to hinder the factions that do want to be hyper aggressive. The faction management tier system, to me is somewhat pointless and not because it's not good on paper, but because it's only good on paper. When the fundamentals of being a criminal faction on Eclipse boil down to posting screenshots on a faction thread, trying not to catch OOC punishments from rival factions and basically just rolling labs, that doesn't lend itself to factions having any kind of meaningful long term futures. The server did not need things like radio jammers and being able to talk If I'm @Osvaldon and @Paulius and I want to protect my investment and even increase upon it, that is where I would focus my creative attentions in 2025. Listen to people like @Chrisy and @skeletee who have a wealth of knowledge about the criminal experience on Eclipse, to be their consultants for these criminal activities things. Everyone has their own individual ideals of course but you have to consider the big picture of Eclipse. Involve people like @Pazz and @alexalex303 on the legal side of things. Alex has a great insight into both sides of the coin having been a criminal faction leader and Pazz has a great mind for the law enforcement balancing side of it. Look at the house robberies, store robberies, banks, ATM robberies, public labs and consider what could be done better in terms of how fun or exciting the jobs are. Consider abandoning the "packed money/influence/turfs" system altogether and just making these illegal enterprises, for monetary profit. If people want to import weapons, find another way of doing it like smuggling or even just going back to a pure cash exchange. Consider both the big groups and the solo/small groups in the ideas. I'm never short of ideas either when it comes to these things and between myself and @Thang we make a pretty formidable team of coming up with new creative ways to do stuff but they have to be added to work. I could reel off pages of ideas. I'm of the opinion now that with GTA VI coming out this year and things having been the same old same in Eclipse for quite a while, there is a narrowing window to turn things around where even long term players that have been loyal to a fault have mentally checked out. I'm not just talking about regular players but lead and head administrators and moderators who are supposed to be leading the community and just go through the motions these days. Some strong words, I know but honestly, I'm as fed up with the way things are as everyone else at this point. We've done really well to get this much air time out of it but once we hit that nosedive, there isn't enough altitude anymore to avoid what would inevitably come. -
Not long to go now

It's not that deep, jesus. Is it still used? If yes, is it still used regularly? -- If yes, keep it. -- If no, then take out the barriers to be re-added as and when. If no, take the thing out.

COMPLETELY delete public lab tables and chop shops.
Bala replied to Demonmit1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
Any toxicity in the community or frequency of reports in the community is not down to public labs or any other script feature to be complete honest. It's down to care-bearing and hand holding people in the community that are unable to accept negative situations and it's also down to a lack of alternative things to do so people will always pick the lowest hanging fruit. You get robbed at a public lab, because it's one of the only places you can be robbed. But, while you are being held at gunpoint, you're being role-played with. Just like if you were being arrested. But because that situation is a negative one, certain players don't want to do it because they don't want to lose. This community was founded and populated on public drug labs and while I would go so far as to agree, they're in need of some tweaking, a return to private labs isn't really in the best interests of server activity. We need people interacting more, not groups of people hiding in safety printing money. There probably should be a few more active labs and we probably should have more places where marijuana grows so it's not quite such a bottleneck, especially for small groups and solos. The intention was always a big rotation, so that people could go in, do what they need to and move on. That being said, it's a wild statement say that while people have left over the labs (and I agree, some people will have), they haven't brought in players because you're playing on a server that in part got big on that premise. But hey, whatever supports the narrative you're trying to tell I guess. -
Issues with the downshift can happen if the vehicle has over 8 gears. It's been a bug in GTA for a minute. Not saying it's the same thing as this but it's possible.

Bala replied to Demonmit1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
Yeah, I don't think so. The way I see it, we're at a point in the server's life cycle where people need to be directed towards as many other people as possible to keep things sustainable in terms of interactions and things. Cooking in Apartments was one of the most damaging additions to the server because not only was it a license to print money, you put people away in different dimensions in almost complete security. I don't foresee a return to ECRP from 2019 where the city was where every individual was situated but then everyone went to the County to do illegal shit, so the split will likely remain for a good while yet as we have factions like Bayview and SD doing well in the North. All that to say, there are obviously issues with the public labs. I think there is perhaps too little of them and the rotation isn't big enough. I think the accessibility to the weed for example isn't sufficent. I get it might not be fun for the person on the end of the gun, but it might still be fun for the person behind it to hold someone at gunpoint. I think sometimes people are uncomfortable with the idea of losing situations and want to play things their way. I think if we had more players, I could perhaps support individual enterprises again but we don't and I don't see that we will again at this juncture, so its a no from me. -
You shouldn't have transferred back to SD, Joe. No Blizzards in the city.
