Demonmit1 Posted March 21, 2025 Report Posted March 21, 2025 I'll keep this one short and simple. what can be done about people who constantly cry /b SAVE POV but never follow through? At what point is the constant /b SAVE POV that never gets reported start being considered DSO? The people who constantly /b SAVE POV are the "boy who cried wolf" and the reason no one ends up taking it seriously, or they're using it to OOCly influence what happens in game, its just tiring. Steven Hayes Posted March 22, 2025 Report Posted March 22, 2025 If someone says save POV just save it, do /b done, and finish them or whatever. 3 day reminder, if no report's up, delete the video. Gotta have confidence in your own judgement and not stress too much about a report Quote
SquirtleSquad Posted March 22, 2025 Report Posted March 22, 2025 This has already been addressed many times, and people are encouraged to use /pm's to request saving POV. An announcement was made by Lewis in Discord on 29/NOV/2023 Just save your POV and if it ends up not being reported, then that's that. However, there shouldn't be a "boy who cries wolf" scenario. Just save your POV and continue on with your roleplay. https://discord.com/channels/229240178441584645/229240248687656960/1168300788158845089 2 Quote
Quietthecutie Posted March 22, 2025 Report Posted March 22, 2025 (edited) Its annoying, when people take it straight to /b. but people are already actively told to try and be respectful and unintrusive when it comes to asking people to save. Theres plenty of guidance out there, admins call that shit out in reports. 90% of players know they shouldnt use /b if possible but do it as a snap reaction to what they feel as an injustice. Same reasoning as people just dropping a report on anything on the off chance they get their shit refunded back. people just fishing. As for what else can be done about it. genuinely unsure. you wanna start slapping DSOs and OOC Toxicitys on anyone who calls out /b SAVE POV? Dunno how youd expect that to be enforced and even if it could be, its a minor infraction. Personally, I get a chuckle out of it. If they wanna be like that, its no skin off my nose and it just displays they are OOCly upset with the outcome. Im sure staff already have a very good picture about who to look out for when it comes to /b SAVE POV or other nonsense. Edited March 22, 2025 by Quietthecutie Quote
Harveyyy Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 I'll also keep this short and simple - Just say "/b No." The rule is quite clear; if someone wanna drop a "save pov" in chat, then they must provide you with a reasoning as to why they want you to save pov. If this simple rule can't be followed, then you have the choice to not entertain their behavior. Quote
Ritchie Stones Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 I AM THAT GUY who says save pov and 99% never follows through after being in the city for 4 years I have seen enough to let go faster. the reason I do this is because in fact I SAW a clear rulebreak, but as the evening passes by I mostly have letten go of it, and don't think its worth going forward spending more of my energy to it, especially when the losses aren't major, at the end of the day I play this game to want to have fun, most people who have been under a year or 2 in the city still take things far more personal or when the person in real life is still younger, or maybe they are more competitive to a winners mindset. when your past your 30's you understand that most things that happen to you arent malevolent intended and mostly comes of people who either don't know any better or have a very impulsive emotional response. if I was playing this game at the age of 20 i would have reported your asses every single day 1 Quote
Ritchie Stones Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 i also feel there is a misconception about save pov, sometimes it means " I'm not sure if what you did was the right way to do things, so I'm going to say it regardless to figure out later if its worth report, but at least we both have the footage to do figure it out" I think many people think, omg he says save pov, this guy hates me, that not true, sometimes its a way of saying I'm not sure but lets save it anyway, 1 Quote
AnnoyingOne Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 But in that case, you should reach out to the person, not leave them hanging for days wondering if they will be reported or not. Honestly, should start reporting people who say /b save pov and then don't follow through and report or reach out to the party. /b save pov is being used to intimidate people and it needs to stop. I agree with you, i do. the point i want to push is how? like how do you want to push this, do you think that every person who bangs out a "/b save pov" should be hit with a DSO? or do you think there should be an OOC timer starting from when they say /b save pov. Like where does this end? just feels like a snake eating its own tail tbh. surely the best thing to do is to welcome it, let them be the victim of their own demise, then break the cycle, no? if people wanna lob in invalid reports against you surely its no skin off your nose to rebut them. admins know what a petty report looks like and will sort it? How do we actually combat this effectively. what's the plan? I dont want this to just be a neverending circlejerk like so many suggestions. lets keep it to the points of what can actually be actioned, controlled and monitored by staff. I clearly stated it out, if you don't report or reach out to the person that you won't be reporting, you should get OOC behaviour punishment. It's pretty clear what the requirements and how to follow them are. If you can't follow that, then I don't know, I feel sorry for them. I will mention that some communities do have a moderated vent chat on discord, where people can under supervision of mods so it's not a complete shit fest, air their grievances and discuss them with the other party Quote
Harveyyy Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 I honestly don't think we should overthink it lmao. I mean, if they wanna say it, because they lost a situation and wanna be toxic, then let them. It ain't that deep. A punishment sounds like a stretch to me. Not every single thing no matter how minor it is must be moderated by staff. You either ignore, or you respond. Quote

You guys know how many reports we'll get in game because someone said in OOC chat "save pov"? Like, personally, I get it, it's annoying to see, read, and have to deal with as a player, but like sometimes people will say it out of frustration, then go back and review their footage and decide its not that big of a deal, or they will see they actually don't have footage of it. Eliza Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 Just save it if you are able and delete after a few days if nothing gets reported, I personally don’t think it’s that deep. I’d rather know that I’m being reported and be able to back my side up with what happened on my end than randomly see a report up against me on the forums and only be able to explain what happened. If they dont follow through with the report, then it would be down on the other party to report them for...not reporting them? Surely you can see the flaw in this logic... I agree with what you are suggesting in principle but in practice it would just be such a mess imo. requires the other party to iniate a report for a situation which otherwise would not be looked at. 90% of people wont do this... Not to mention it adds another layer to the cake of reports which is frankly. not needed. we already get enough petty reports and i dont think this would help matters (im not saying reports for people screaming /b save pov are instantly petty but you understand how people will see this as another avenue to report edgecases. which generally, do not warrant a full report.) Ultimately i think @Eliza has the best of it. if they dont take any action then neither do you and you dont have to worry about their cries of /b SAVE POV. people with toxic mentalities are quickly noted by staff regardless of reports. they are always watching for this kind of stuff. PurplePlant Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 Also, you aren't required to have a "pov" if you choose to not record your gameplay Quote
Jett_J Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 Just start banning repeat offenders! If you tell me to save pov I'm not gonna do it unless you can tell me why because I get told to save POV multiple times a day! Quote
Diligo Posted March 29, 2025 Report Posted March 29, 2025 What is even worse is when I just log into the server and get "save pov" messages in PMs... like instantly!!!! smh Quote
aka121 Posted July 6, 2025 Report Posted July 6, 2025 i would say read it save your pov continue your roleplaying just incase if he later report u Quote
