Xylum Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 As the title states, if a player is attempting to get into a vehicle and they are mid animation, locking the vehicle currently cancels the animation and the process of getting in the vehicle. When the player attempted to get into the vehicle, it was unlocked, the door was open and they are getting in. The player getting into the vehicle should not have the anim cancelled if the vehicle is locked while they are getting into the vehicle. Quote
Demonmit1 Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 (edited) the negatives of fixing this far outweigh the benefits. massive -1 being able to prevent some shitter at legion parking from jumping into my car and rummaging through my glovebox cause they're abusing the parking and search system, to then sprint away is a lot better than constant playertheft and nonRP reports. It‘s not a rulebreak to search peoples trunks or steal shit out of their glovebox, that‘s why people do it. Maybe do a small animation to get in the car or search the vehicle right after it gets unlocked or something, might fix the problem. Edited October 10, 2024 by Freyster Quote
addybeta Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 As someone who likes stealing cars. Huge +1 Quote
Requiem Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 What benefit would the suggested change add vs the downsides it could bring? I don't see many positives of this suggestion aside from allowing more flexibility with passengers with the VIP autolock feature. Quote
Xylum Posted October 10, 2024 Author Report Posted October 10, 2024 The biggest positive is being able to get into a car that is unlocked without having the keyholder lock it mid-animation to prevent you from getting into the vehicle because they forgot to lock it. The biggest downside is the lack of animation for being able to get into the trunk without an animation. You should still be able to lock a vehicle while someone is getting in, you just shouldn't be able to force-stop them from getting into the vehicle by doing so. If someone wants to get into your vehicle to search it and take items from it, that is an escalation in-character and should be dealt with accordingly. Being able to lock the vehicle and have the door magically slam shut while someone is in mid animation does not make sense. To increase the risk to people that would try to abuse this mechanic. If a player was to get into an unlocked vehicle while the keyholder locks it, they would not be able to get out of the vehicle UNLESS they were also a keyholder. This would increase the risk to players attempting to search, rob and bounce without the keyholder being able to pose a risk. Quote
Requiem Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 I don't personally see this as a positive, so -1 from me. I think this would just create frustration and troll behavior rather than add anything positive. Quote
Puzzling Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 (edited) +1 Once you open a door to a vehicle, you should not be able to lock it to stop them from stealing your vehicle. You could be locked you could be 90% of the way in the vehicle and someone will just lock it and you can't steal it. You can lock the door before exiting the vehicle so it is 100% on the driver of the vehicle. There have been a few times I've tried to steal a car and the owner runs up and locks it while attempting to get in. There really isn't a negative, if anything it just allows more roleplay and makes you become more aware of your surroundings. Edited October 10, 2024 by Puzzling Quote
Cup Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 If it wouldn't be abused massively I would say +1. But it would be so -1 from me. Quote
moVex Posted October 10, 2024 Report Posted October 10, 2024 I agree with Cup here, it would be abused so it's a -1 from me. Quote
Quietthecutie Posted October 11, 2024 Report Posted October 11, 2024 -1. Horrendous idea. Set aside realisim for a second And look at it from a gameplay perspective. This would generate alot more troll behaviour and toxic interactions in a gameplay area that already has very poor rp standards. Quote
inorigj Posted October 11, 2024 Report Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) HUGE -1 It's alarming to see the amount of players that's ok with the "jump in, yoink and run" toxic behaviour. This change would make the public parking lot COMPLETELY useless. As every DM baiter would just hang around there. And stand by the door of every car that gets unparked to get in to them. Yoink some shit and run. This isn't RP in the slightest and shouldn't be made easier then it already is. I do however think that yes, it shouldn't cancel your animation if you were already on the way in to the car. And rather just deny others from starting their animation to enter if they try after it's locked. But again, this implementation have such a HUGE downside. That it's way worse to have due to the amount of abuse it would get. Edited October 11, 2024 by inorigj Quote
Shimo Posted October 11, 2024 Report Posted October 11, 2024 -1 Don't think it's even scriptly possible to do this. Quote

Crims can bait DM rights, Legals without a gun are powerless to do anything. Quote
padpilot Posted October 21, 2024 Report Posted October 21, 2024 -1 Too many people just none-rp jump in cars and the player has no ability to drag them back out. All the player can do if someone jumps in car is pull a gun which itself is poor rp but everyone is limited by scrips.... the lock and kick is the last defence against bs gameplay Quote
