Faction Loadout Inventory Change and RP Effects
Cyrus Raven replied to Melody Frey's topic in Archive
It might, but then those people will be promptly banned, no? -
+1 Remove it completely, kinda weird having 90% of server using masks, but I get why they do it. Hopefully this would fix the issue. I'm sure people are capable of remembering people with a combination of common attire, voice and how often they hang out.

Faction Loadout Inventory Change and RP Effects
Cyrus Raven replied to Melody Frey's topic in Archive
Meh +1 with a trial period, change things during 1 month, see how it works out in combination with HEAVY IC charges for people found with police equipment and go from there. We can all speculate about how things might turn out, why not just give it a go, seems like a fairly innocent change that in all honesty any other RP server has in place. I would also recommend making armoury /fl clothing items only. And having a single point in the armoury of Mission Row where weapons can be retrieved, these weapons should also be actual items that are then placed inside the cruiser inventory by Officers, instead of the usual RP to retrieve weapon, /fl to take out weapon. This way the only RP that needs to be done is getting the initial gun out of the armoury when someone heads on shift, using the existing inventory system to withdraw/holster weapons. As for the argument of people going out and killing cops for gear, surely this would be covered other non-RP and thus punishable according to server rules. -
Fix/Change Vehicle Cleaning Prices (visual-repair)
Cyrus Raven replied to Sara Wilford's topic in Game Suggestions
bump please remove the cleaning system until a suitable replacement is added. Paying more than an engine repair so that my car will get dirty after 20 mins driving on normal roads is not good. A new system should perhaps make use of the cleaning booths (opposite Mega Mall) or the automatic cleaning that Weazel Gas Station has or the car wash next to strawberry clothing. But more importantly, make the effect last a long time and if this isn't possible due to the game limitations then just keep it removed. -
+1 pls

I think it's less about making sense and more about achieving a balance. The down time someone gets from having their license suspended and vehicle impounded is likely enough ''punishment'' for the player. Extended holds for very specific reasons (court cases, investigations) might make sense, especially if it enables good RP from both sides. However, in my opinion, repeated use of a specific vehicle shouldn't be met with a further impound. If anything, someone (through good investigation by DB) found to be renting out or otherwise lending vehicles to known criminals in a repeated manor should get an accompanying charge/citation in association with the crimes committed using the vehicle, avoiding the usual ''Well I just rented it out'' excuse some super car owners give. Kinda like the demerit/license suspension limitation, it would make sense to have various criminal players banned from ever driving or week/month long license suspensions given the criminal acts involving vehicles they do on a daily basis, but imo it wouldn't really achieve a fair/fun environment.

Tires popping does seem like a weird bug, but lets not pretend that dismantling an entire vehicle with absolutely no sound is somehow ''realistic''. If the suggestion is to correct an apparent bug +1 If it's a suggestion based on realism -1 (sounds should be present during the process, just not the tire pop sound)
-
I think the ability to hold a vehicle in impound should exist. However, the usage of this script function should follow very strict IC regulations for situations regarding investigative RP with Detectives or authorization from Command. In essence, make it possible to hold vehicles, but not common unless there is an exigent situation that justifies it.
-
It is an IC issue, one that has been around for years. If player count increases then expect the wait times to become significantly worse. Yesterday we had multiple calls with shots fired. I know a few people waited close to an hour at impound, but IC'ly I can't just ignore those calls to go release cars, which is why delegating impound release to a script would probably be better. It's a tedious boring task most people don't want to go through and RP'ly speaking there are better things to be doing from both sides. (IMO)

+1 There is no reason to keep this system the way it is. Add the ability for players to release their cars if they have no fines on record/warrants However, this would have to follow a log (maybe through the MDC) of who released what vehicle at what time, so PD/SD can keep track of this, as well as the ability to add holds to a vehicle (Investigation Purposes)

Realistic police radar gun implementation
Cyrus Raven replied to Mortimer Hauch's topic in Game Suggestions
This is ok in theory, but the IC consequence would be that these vehicles would never be road worthy vehicles and would likely be impounded every time they are spotted. -
Realistic police radar gun implementation
Cyrus Raven replied to Mortimer Hauch's topic in Game Suggestions
I agree with you that not everything needs to be based on realism! That's why I'm saying that arguments for parts of police radar being changed should be made coming from a point of view of increasing fun and not realism. A suggestion based on realism, as implied by OP will hurt your argument, not help it. -
Realistic police radar gun implementation
Cyrus Raven replied to Mortimer Hauch's topic in Game Suggestions
-1 for the OPs suggestion, in the video you posted, modern police radars would absolutely catch you in a similar way the officer did, I suggest doing some independent research on the matter or taking a look at the links @AtlasOLimbo posted. As for general improvement to the mini-MDC, I'm all for that, especially if it involves added realism, I just don't think people on here realize how much of an opposite effect that would have. In other words, it would make it easier for PD/SD to have realistic radar and plate readers...not harder. A new mini-MDC script should include the following if realism is the objective: - Rear and Front Radars (at the moment we only have front radar with limited distance) - Extended Distance where vehicles on opposite lanes of travel on long roads (highways) are able to be captured (just like IRL) - Automatic Text Print of vehicle information to chat instead of having to open the mini-MDC (this would make it easier to call out traffic stops instead of having to memorize the info before the radio call out or doing a common workaround to talk on radio while keeping the MDC open) - Automatic Plate Reader where vehicles are scanned as cruisers patrol and a warning is given if someone has a suspended license, a warrant, the vehicle is stolen, etc... (Source: https://youtu.be/COBClFEQQJk) - Ability to add notes on vehicle and player records so other units can be informed if vehicles are commonly being used in crimes, warnings given, etc... I'm sure there is more stuff I am missing, but these would be some of the top improvements that can be made I highly suggest we deviate from realism if the intent of OPs suggestion and other repliers is to promote some sort of ''fairness'' from a game stand point, this is not an area you will ''win'' on. -
+1 but it's an IC issue sadly.

-1 I think this would only work in a server where money is a lot easier to get and the idea of a permadeath is established and while this idea would be cool to explore, I doubt many in the server would like that. If we had a server where killing someone would actually meant that their character dies, then I doubt we would see as many murders as we do, because it would have a lot more impact on the server. So, on one hand you can say ''Realistically, if someone commits multiple murders in real life and gets caught for it they get sentenced to life in prison. It makes no sense for serial killers, murderers and other die-hard criminals who are prominent in the community to keep killing people over and over and over to simply get away with it by just going to doc for 1 hour (as an example) and leaving simply after doing their time just to go and kill more people again and the cycle repeats. It is not realistic in the slightest. You are not El Chapo.'' However, the other side of the coin is that in real life people that get shot and killed don't re-spawn back at their local hospital.

+1 or even a real estate building where people can head to and do the listing themselves while inactive houses get automatically listed. Perhaps incorporate weazel into it where it is a new position they can be at and help people trying to list houses, but this would require script support and a mechanic like LSC's self-repair station in cases where weazel is not on-duty

For an RP server, Eclipse seems to be missing a social hub area where people know they can go to buy and sell items, talk, meet new people and overall interact with each other. Back in the day, this use to be the bank, although it was never really official, then it switched to being the pier and now there really isn't a place for people to gather, I guess you can argue it might be legion square parking or directly across from it. My suggestion is to designate a place where people can place advertisements for everyone to see, whether it's for sale of goods, looking for items, houses, cars or a simple party invite for gatherings. This would not remove weazel's ads. However, it would provide a cheaper place for people to advertise and hopefully achieve the goal of creating a spot where people come to hang out, buy and sell stuff. This brings me to my next point, Life Invader is not the play. Logging into it IG is a pain in the ass, especially with such a small phone interface and the fact that it doesn't keep you signed in, this forces users to leave the game to use it. Additionally it doesn't seem like the most intuitive application to use for new players. My suggestion is to remove this all together and implement a Instagram/twitter substitute that is simple to use and fully accessible in-game. It would allow short messages and images to be sent out and players can interact with them in real time by sharing the post, responding to it or simply liking it. We already know how a system like this would work as he have examples out there to base ourselves from. Thoughts would be appreciated, my ultimate goal with this suggestion is to create a social hub and hopefully promote interaction while drastically improving ways to advertise For the OGs, imagine a place like the Market next to all saints hospital or Pizza Stack in SAMP servers like NGG.

-1 for the reducing of sentences, they are there to encourage criminal role players to find other ways of conducting themselves and eventually as a punishment for whatever crime they committed. Not having these would make evading and shooting at cops the norm). However, I would suggest a decrease in the difficulty of obtaining firearms. Keep the sentences the same, but allow organized criminal groups with cartel connections to import these goods at a reduced rate. Seeing how some groups prioritize and defend saving people with body armour or AK-47s seems a bit weird to me. It almost feels like sometimes saving these weapons (which cost a ton of money) are being prioritized over the RP potential of saving a member being arrested or gang members being attacked by a rival faction. The fear of losing a fellow member or having one arrested should be greater than that of losing a gun and it's fair that these players are acting this way when there is a lot of monetary value tied to these weapons, which equals hours/days of work. Not to say that ARs, SMGs and Shotguns should be cheaper, but at the very least handguns should be easily obtainable for criminal groups. Perhaps encouraging more prisoner transport hits (although hopefully not to an extreme extent where it is a daily occurrence), and more importantly gang vs gang conflict, which might alleviate the feeling players get for going to jail ''for nothing''.

gotcha!

I took a look at the court case in question, it was denied at the time because the only charge you were appealing (Failure to comply and Giving false information) you were found to have admitted to failure to comply when you said ''I could've been nice, but he was just an asshole from the start so I'm not gonna comply with him.'' and ''and the officer failed to understand that if someone is asking something of me that I don't feel like the officer has good intentions and I've done nothing wrong that I had the right to protect my identity'' in the body cam footage you provided. You weren't charged, as far as I can tell, for street racing or any other charge related to the speeding sultan, but for failing to comply with a lawful order during the course of an investigation. The threshold for reasonable suspicion is less than that of probable cause, if the Officer felt like you were taking part in a crime, were planning to take part in a crime or had taken part in a crime recently, they can legally identify you, whether that is actually true or not, what matters is if an Officer suspects it. Now, of course you can then IA report them under the grounds that they had no reasonable suspicion to ID you and the Officer would then have to explain his side to determine whether RS was present or not, but you automatically lose if you fail comply. Police can accuse you of a crime, lying, etc... all of which are IC. However, what they accuse you of and what they charge you with is different. Police can lie to try and gather information, get a confession, gain consent for a search, etc... It is up to you to act out your actions IC'ly, either argue with them or perhaps exercise your rights and stay quite, even if they claim they are going to arrest you for 30 charges. Any ways, as for your main suggestion with regards to shooting, I believe my initial response still stands, Police are like any other player, report them for NRP or DM if you think what they did was against server rules and and or OOC IA reports. If enough evidence is provided of situations that the community thinks are unrealistic or unacceptable I am definitely willing to change my mind, but as it stands I just haven't seen ''bad shootings'' that border NRP for no reason as the initial point seems to imply, best way to get these things changed is record plenty of evidence and make reports/suggestion threads using that evidence.
-
Did you end up submitting a court case for that situation? Yes, but as a player you can, especially if you suspect corruption considering it is is OOC'ly not allowed unless under very specific guidelines and only an extremely limited amount of people can gain this status. For this you have OOC IA reports as well as regular player reports. Keep in mind that regardless of IC protocol, OOC rules come first, which means if you feel like you've been DMed you can report that person like any other player. Lastly, the chart I showed above should at least be proof enough that the statement ''I don't believe any of these IC reports work for IA'', is untrue. You can check the links I provided, IA reports get sustained every single month and Officer's get suspended, both high-rank members and regular Officers. How can you claim these things don't work when evidence says otherwise? It might just be that for your specific scenario there was either a lack of evidence, no breach of IC regulations occurred or that IA had a different opinion from yours. If you suspect any bias or corruption in any of your IA outcomes, OOC report them for corruption with whatever evidence you have.
-
IA reports are not taken lightly and lead to reprimands for Officers. Keep in mind that you can also take any charge to court. Highlighted in RED are IA reports that were either accepted (''sustained'') or reports where things could be different. I would assume if IA was as biased as claimed we wouldn't consistently see sustained outcomes for IA reports. (Publicly available through the GOV website under LSPD newsroom https://gov.eclipse-rp.net/viewtopic.php?t=104882) Additionally, you can head to another publicly available section of the GOV website, https://gov.eclipse-rp.net/viewforum.php?f=127 which shows you every suspension, termination and resignation within the LSPD. IAD is not a bias bogey man, or at least I haven't seen anything proving this, it might just be that the complaints being filed are not in breach of any protocol/law. I agree that sometimes OOC rules need to be put in place when issues can't be addressed IC'ly, but have you tried using existing IC methods? Submitting an IA? Court-Case? Petition? Talk to weazel news?
-
I believe this is already taken care by IC regulations (and OOC standards set for the LSPD) I won't go into too much detail to avoid leaking IC protocols, but for someone to shoot at your vehicle (take tires) there needs to be various thresholds met that can depend on the type of crime you are committing, where you are committing said crime, if you pose a serious threat to yourself and others, how long you've been evading and if there is a supervisor present to authorize said force. If you feel like a situation was not portrayed realistically to the point that it might breach NRP rules, you can submit an OOC IA report, a player report on the forums, you can /report IC'ly to try and get the situation reviewed on the spot or you can /pm and speak to the player to try and get an understanding of the reasons that led to lethal force being used. From my personal experience, in the past 3 months I have only been involved in 3-6 incidents requiring PD to ''take tires'' on a vehicle and from what I recall, all these situations required proper escalation from an IC perspective following IC protocols. This isn't to dismiss your opinion, I'm sure they are well intended, but is this truly a rampant issue ?

Remove /alias in vehicle and make windows work like a mask
Cyrus Raven replied to Cyrus Raven's topic in Game Suggestions
I would say we initially don't worry about that for sake of easing development. Treat it like the coloured headlights where people can get it and then let law enforcement deal with it. I think we would fallback on /ldo for these cases. If you're wanting to RP if you recognize anyone if you drove past them with a clear view of the windshield or while you're on foot facing a car then you would use /ldo. I completely removing /alias as long as all windows are up would be the play here.
