Lmao no, don't want Lamar to tell me to suck my mum over VOIP.

I think all due respect to you or any one else wanting this to be a thing. The perception by the same people wanting this, of PD and SD is that we're try hards and we'll do anything to 'win' a situation. Fuck the "realism" argument for a minute. Fuck the "it's a game" argument as well. Let me ask you, with all seriousness and honesty, do you think that PD and SD would be more or less likely to try and do anything to win a situation, if those are the stakes? Combine that mentality with a faction that doesn't have limitations on the amount of people it can hire, combine that with a faction that has access to some pretty high powered vehicles and weapons and combine that with a faction that gets shot at on a daily basis and trains against that. Are you REALLY sure that is the sort of Police Department you want to encourage? We are not the same kind of faction. Our roles and our objectives are completely different. So, why are we comparing? I speak for myself when I say this but if we go that way, either I'm doing absolutely nothing to put myself in harm's way or I'm saying fuck the roleplay and making sure you have as little to no chance to do anything like that. The problem with adding those kind of consequences to losing for PD/SD, is that our objectives and mentality inevitably changes. Trust me, you might think you want it but you don't.

No one is repeatedly oocly reinstating, in the cases where it has happened, either the person never fucked up again or they ended up getting the boot permanently. We have internal corruption rules, which are OOC and anyone that is "corrupt" has to have permission for that with sufficient back story and reason for being corrupt. There is an important distinction between individuals that have OOC permission to be corrupt in our faction or that just do something stupid in the heat of the moment, to people who are just plain shit at being cops and go off the goop without any kind of permission. No one in PD wants to be associated with that second kind of person. At this moment in time, there is either no one or a very, very small amount of people in PD with authorisation to be corrupt in PD. I don't have it and if I applied for it, I wouldn't get it because I don't have the RP to support it. Trust me when I say, no one is more of a stickler for PD acting right than Kris, Pazz and Silky. Certainly not @addybeta

There would be consequences, I wouldn't be able to use the character I've used for the past five years and that everyone in the server that I have met knows me for. That's the consequence. Essentially, that character is dead from that point. Turning him criminal as an ex-cop makes no sense and if what I've done to get fired is bad enough I get felony charges, no is likely going to want to hire my character. Any criminal that is worth shit in this server doesn't file internal affairs reports, neither do they wear body cameras. No self respecting criminal even entertains that thought, it's like snitching and if we're being honest, it's just an extension of the win at all costs ooc mentality. If you a petty crook or a civilian then fair enough make your complaint, make your report because that is realistic but if your character is supposed to be a serious criminal, you don't need to be anywhere near IA lmao. As a serious crim, you don't have any positive feeling about police so why would you go to the police about police? Circling back, losing my character is bad enough. I'm not about to give up my faction leadership spot to become a new person, especially when everyone is going to remember me for Dezzy anyway lmao.
-
If I did something, in-character, to the point where I had to be fired from the PD after almost five years, the repercussion of that is I'd never be able to have Dezzy Bala as a cop again. I have to make a new character and then constantly have the awkwardness of sounding exactly like Dezzy on that character for the rest of my time in that faction. Am I, Bala, supposed to be punished out of character for making an in-character mistake as well? I've been in the same faction for almost five years, am I supposed to go from being one of the leaders of the faction to a new Cadet? End of the day, while my character carried out actions in-character, there is a lot of effort out of character that goes into that. I know the individual you are referring to and frankly, the punishment of not being able to be a cop on that character is significant enough. That would have also applied to you, had you stayed in PD as well.

ECLIPSE ROLEPLAY - Modder Team Update (December 31st, 2023)
Bala replied to Bala's topic in Development
Thanks guys, I put a lot of effort into these projects but @Arrta was especially helpful when it came to helping resolve some issues along the way. Thank you to people like @Chunder and @PopTarts who offered feedback throughout the process. We're nowhere near done with the map updates, so keep your eyes peeling for upcoming releases.- 17 replies

Thoughts on the addition of "meta"/"endgame" vehicles to credit shop?
Bala replied to Victus's topic in Discussions
I respect the fact that you've taken the time to make this, as no doubt it will be a conversation that quite a few of our community members will be having privately in the past few days. Now, I'm someone who benefits from these changes, in that I have VIP and will most likely purchase one of the aforementioned cars with the credits I have but I'd be lying if I said I felt good about it, for some of the similar reasons that you do. I suppose it depends what you value in the server. If you're just looking to be able to vibe and enjoy yourself with your choice of car, it's great. If you're someone who likes things to be really balanced, it's not great. But, a meta has always existed in our server, whether that be from credit vehicles like the Issi Sport or even before that with the Comets and the Rapid GTs and such. So, this isn't really a server that is overtly concerned on balance and I'm not really sure this latest change really does in fact change that much, it's more just a continuation of that. I hope that particularly with the inclusion of the Itali GTO, law enforcement can now have something that will be able to compete with that. I'm also acutely aware that the developers have spent quite a bit on new interiors at my own request and that doesn't come without spending a decent chunk of change. I certainly feel a little better about asking for stuff in future, knowing that the server is being so well supported financially. What I would say though, I have a lot of modded vehicles that I want to add to the server, for factions, jobs and civilian use so I hope that when it comes down to it, that the developers are as open to supporting that route as they are to supporting the credit vehicles and Rockstar update vehicles. I also think that if at the end of the day, this sort of thing keeps the developers invested in new content elsewhere in the community, then I actually don't really care what people can purchase too much. As long as the other areas of the server that need updating get updated and we grow the community in different ways with the profits, I don't mind the devs taking some off the top and spending it on themselves. End of the day, if you look at it like a business for them, they've made something profitable and if they wanna take a little off the top to go get their nails done or something, more power to them. -
I think while the original suggestion makes sense, I could see people misusing it if you weren't close to the person. That said, either give it a real function or get rid of it tbh.
-
But that is how it is though and that's not going to change, so why are we still trying to do that in 2024? How many failed schemes or reboots does there need to be where people just miss the obvious. Script is King. Script was king in 2019, Script is king in 2023 and spoiler, it'll be king in 2024 as well. How many people play themselves here and how many player a character? How many make decisions based on what makes sense in RP and how many make decisions based on the best possible outcome for themselves? Ol' Fishface is gunna have to wait till he clocks off, until he can mask up again. It's a good change and it was about time.
-
As a super owner myself, we're an exclusive club and I don't really want the impact of my flex / ERP potential to be marginalised so everyone can get themselves a super.
-
Think we should get the event team to host an event where we throw all these street trees onto a massive bonfire and light it. I'd be on board with that.
-
Ain't nobody doing the road worker job that is looking to mask up for in-character hazards LMAO, what server are you on? It's difficult to take someone doing a legal job, seriously, when they're putting out a fire with a giant fish face on their head. I know players won't self-regulate that so it becomes necessary to force it upon people. It's a job that is frequented by new players and it's not a good thing to get new people into the mentally that a mask solves their problems, in their formative days in the server. Don't start with the legal RP stuff, the disparity between that stuff and what actually goes on is an ever widing chasm.
-
So is whether or not you wear a uniform and that is hard coded. This server is incapable of controlling itself outside of being mollycoddled by the script, this has been proven time and time again. All due respect but people only wanna keep it IC when it benefits them, regardless of what they are in the server. Just keep the working man, mask free and keep it moving.
-
There’s just no need for someone to be masked doing a legal job though. You’re literally given stuff to wear, for a reason. That Postal Worker uniform is clapped enough without adding a sci-fi horror mask to it.

Of the things that were useful to change for house robberies, the pay out being reduced was not one of them. Neither was disabling the crawling anim. Being able to buy another location in that time period, if you fuck up on the first one or get a location that doesn't suit you, for example. Reduction of weight of stuff to make the job more convenient. Being able to rob during the day during the morning/early evening but with greater risk of being caught if you are robbing in that time Shit like that, as an example. It reminds me of when mining used to be popping and we added the RVs that allowed for a bunch of ore to be transported, then we made the RV slow as shit if you filled it and the pay started to suck. Killed any and all interest off that freelance job. What's the point?
-
No one needs to be masked up when doing a legal freelance activity.

I'll be honest, I feel quite underwhelmed and disappointed by the execution of both the cuffing and the tackling. Given significance of the cuffing process and the impact that being able to tackle, I would have expected more extensive testing and also, perhaps seeking out a wider range of opinions (especially on the cuffing from the other, bigger law enforcement faction on the server) on how if I'm completely honest. The fact that the cuffing process has been implemented without ample time to brief the people using it on the change, beyond the patch notes is bad communication. I've always tried to subscribed to the belief that you only get one chance to make a first impression and both of them are bugged and seem somewhat rushed into existence, which instantly forms a negative opinion. I know from my own experiences how this can backfire (Low Power Street, invisible wall at Mission Row etc..) Both personally and for the server in general, I'm all for this recent development wave and hope it's the start of something, rather than the conclusion of something but if I'm honest, both of these things were way down the priority list. I'm certainly not someone that is afraid of change, but what does concern me is things of this importance, arriving in the state they have and in the way they have. On the subject of tackling, I believe it's actually a good idea. Being able to effect a player in a non-lethal way is certainly interesting but I would have perhaps expected more from this. A user-friendly way to execute a tackle, not just by running into a door and unlocking it. The use of food items or an in-game gym to strengthen your character. Each character's strength value playing a role in whether or not they can tackle someone, for how long they can keep them down and whether or not that person can reverse that tackle. But those are things you set up BEFORE you add the tackling, to get players familiar with how it will work. Something significant like player tackling, not only needs to be grounded in reality and user friendly to do. It also needs to be explained in documentation. On the subject of cuffing, there was absolutely nothing wrong with roleplaying it out. Don't think this one needed to change and certainly did not need to be a minigame. I don't really want to adjust to it. It feels like we solved one issue with the taser and made another one with this, to be honest. All I wanted was the beanbag shotgun.

Change the current license suspension system
Bala replied to CalvinKlein's topic in Game Suggestions
You know what else is an unhealthy mechanic? People doing illegal or foolish shit then complaining when it's time to face the music. When I've played on my crim character, I've not even bothered to get a license. You don't need it to drive, just need it to get your car out of impound. Not only do you have the option of taxis, you could just steal a car and use that. Not even your gas you're using then, don't have to pay for parking and if you happen to roll it or drive it into a tree, it's not your problem. Your license being suspended for 24 hours isn't that much of an inconvenience, only if you insist on things being your own way. -
Change the current license suspension system
Bala replied to CalvinKlein's topic in Game Suggestions
It's only a "smart ass comment" if you take it that way. Guy popping wheelies is 'dangerous' enough, but then he's doing it in snow when we're supposed to be somewhat more mindful of how we drive/ride. Ended up having to face the consequences of his actions then complains about it. It's a teachable moment, we've all had them and now he's having his. I could have just told him that the time a license is suspended is an in-character issue, decided by in-character means and complaining about the length on a thread complaining about it's length, is somewhat pointless. -
Change the current license suspension system
Bala replied to CalvinKlein's topic in Game Suggestions
Well, you'll think twice about popping a wheelie on a bike, in snow, in future so seems like it works. DCC could use your business. -
Having taken into consideration the view points from people in this thread, we will be looking to make amendments to the list of furniture available and it's pricing to reflect the attitudes and needs of the player base. If there are any specific things that you feel warrant attention, feel free to highlight them in this thread and if you like, provide your own suggestion on pricing and such.

+1 I do agree and it being this way does sort of feel like an oversight, more than a feature if I'm honest. That said, I do think there would need to be a separate limit on how many tables could be placed within a property's radius though, just to avoid any goofiness. As for the water bottles, filling bottles with ocean water always has been a little goofy, especially when you consider that putting these at a residence, means there is a local water source near, at all times. What I think would actually maybe run is having a water barrel deployable, as part of the lab equipment, a bit like how the chop shops are. Buy a water barrel from the street NPC that sells equipment for the chops or laundry OR from a 24/7, as it's a legal item. You can deploy a water barrel on property you can permission for but it must have a little bit of distance away from another player object. If you got a table within range of a deployed water barrel, you can use the table. Every time you successfully make a drug, it drains the water barrel of some water and it'll will eventually reach zero. You can either buy a new barrel or fill it up if you really have to. If it reaches zero and you try and cook, it just won't work. It won't turn into a bomb, it'll just not work. Do the same shit with a gas canister for the power for the tables and you got yourself a lab. No need for explosions if you in the world. No need to have gang members going down to the beach to collect water like this is some third world country. Suttin like this.
