Current System:

Driver goes on a randomly selected route (1001, 1002, 1003, 1004). No one really knows where these routes go to, and there are zero interaction with the other players unless rare chance one boards the bus. The pay is also very low for bus drivers.

 Proposal:

- Player goes to Bus Station and takes out Bus

- Player gets to choose one of 4 pre-designed routes.

- Player can Use /announceroute [Will display a global server chat - "Bus for Route 1001 is available, call 1001 for route information"

Players who wish to ride the bus, can dial the route's number and will be shown the following.

"The buses are currently displayed"

--------------------------------

/showroute [route 1001, 1002, 1003, 2001] will show the stops of the route on map, and bus's real time location as it moves.

*All buses will start their routes from the BUS DEPOT (Current location of job), and be returned to the BUS DEPOT.

Route 1001 - Uptown

BUS DEPOT -> PD Mission Row -> Parking Lot -> Security Job -> Cityhall -> Lithuania Nation (Gun Store) -> LS Bank -> Fish Market -> Tequi-la-la -> Clothing Store #2 -> Los Santos Customs -> Weazle News -> Security Job -> LS Parking -> BUS DEPOT

Route 1002 - Crosstown

BUS DEPOT -> Taxi Company -> Mirror Park Store (24/7) -> The WantedReup (Orange 24/7) -> Motor Sport Dealership -> Mors Insurance -> Weazle News -> Vespucci Liquor (Purple 24/7) -> High End Dealership -> Raven Gas (Blue Gas Station) -> Ocean Grocery (Yellow 24/7) -> Chumash (24/7) -> Ocean Groc -> Raven Gas -> High End -> Weazle News -> Mors Insurance -> PD Mission Row -> BUS DEPOT

 Route 1003 - Downtown

BUS DEPOT -> PD Mission Row -> Central MD -> Impound Lot -> South Tattoo Parlor -> Foundry/Garbage Job -> Import Depot -> Trucker Job -> Low End Dealership -> Airport (CityBee Rental) -> DMV -> Bayview Auto Center -> Boat Dealership -> Scrapyard -> LS Impound Lot -> Mors Insurance -> Security Job -> Parking Lot -> BUS DEPOT

Route 2001 - Cross County

BUS DEPOT -> Raven Gas (Blue Gas Station) -> Ocean Grocery (24/7) -> Chumash (24/7) -> Paleto Bay (CityBee Rental) -> Grapeseed (Farm Job) -> Sandy Shores (CityBee Rental) -> Bollingbrook (DOC) -> Harmony (CandyPayne 24/7) -> The Mine -> Gravesguns -> Wild Animals #1 (Hunting Ground) -> Motorsnacks (24/7) -> Los Santos Customs -> City Hall -> LS PARKING LOT  ->  BUS DEPOT

When starting the job, player can choose the route they wish to take (Press Y)

- Pop up menu for player to choose desired route to drive. MAXIMUM OF 2 BUSES PER ROUTE, THERE BEING FOUR ROUTES. (Maximum of 8 players can drive the buses on the server. Room to adjust in future.)

/showroute [route 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004] will show the stops of the route on map, and bus's real time location as it moves.

/announceroute (Will send a global message to the server that a bus is available on Route XXXX, and to call for the next stop at XXXX)\

/laststop (Bus driver will need to drive to the upcoming stop in order to cancel the route. Failure to meet /laststop will result in NO PAY. The bus will not be deleted, therefore players may commandeer bus to not get stranded.)

/returnbus (Will redirect the bus driver to drive back to BUS DEPOT) - Incentive: Bus driver will get bonus pay for returning the bus back. (50% of number of stops made.)

/nextstop [route] (Will tell player what the next bus stop will be by tracking the on-duty bus's previous stop made.)

PS: Money paid to bus drivers comes from Gov Vault, and money paid by customers goes to Gov Vault. (Or Designated Vault for Public Transportation so Gov can budget)

BUS IS FREE TRANSPORTATION FOR EVERYONE!

NEW PLAYERS OR ANY PLAYERS WILL LOVE THIS! MORE DIFFERENT ROUTES AND USEFUL TOO THAN AIMLESSLY DRIVING ALONE ALL THE TIME!

NEVER HAVE I SEEN ANY SERVER OR COMMUNITY IMPLEMENT A BUS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM LIKE THIS! THIS WOULD BE REVOLUTIONARY TO ROLEPLAY!

+1 This is a nice idea.

A few ideas I have to improve it (in no particular order) are:

  1.  The limit should be more than two players per route; this would allow for a good service frequency under optimal conditions - longer routes should have a higher limit.
  2. Failing to reach the next stop within a reasonable amount of time gets you kicked off the route. (countdown timer)
  3. Failing to remain at a stop for a reasonable amount of time also gets you kicked off the route. (countdown timer)
  4. Players cannot choose the route; they are assigned based on whatever has the least coverage or randomly if all are equally covered - accounting for distance.
  5. Don't require players to enter commands to announce routes; automate it.
  6. While performing the bus job, you are considered to be a government employee for the purposes of charging anyone committing a crime against you.
  7. All buses are RPly pre-fitted with cameras; this assists with crimes against the driver and for passengers to report the driver for unsafe operation of the vehicle.
  8. All buses RPly have a bulletproof section around the driver's cab so a player cannot board the bus in an NCZ and then RP pointing a gun as soon as it exits the NCZ.
  9. When all routes are filled with drivers, any other players wishing to do the bus job are given a "test route" which would just be the existing mechanic.

Agree, longer routes should have more limit due to their distances.

  1. Failing to reach the next stop within a reasonable amount of time gets you kicked off the route. (countdown timer)

Agree, to combat people who become AFK. The Bus however would however would stay.

  1. Failing to remain at a stop for a reasonable amount of time also gets you kicked off the route. (countdown timer)

Disagree - Players should just have to go through the checkpoint of the stop, smoothly and  stop at their own accord. This will keep the job running smoothly, and only when an actual player is available to board or leave is when they should stop the bus.

  1. Players cannot choose the route; they are assigned based on whatever has the least coverage or randomly if all are equally covered - accounting for distance.

Agree - Random routes will make the job more fun, and players will always be able to cancel and try to get a better route they like.

  1. Don't require players to enter commands to announce routes; automate it.

Automation won't work, as there will not be buses available all of the time, so therefore the player themselves will need to manually announce it when there is one available. There could also be a timer put onto /announceroute so the player can't spam the server with it.

  1. While performing the bus job, you are considered to be a government employee for the purposes of charging anyone committing a crime against you.

That is something to be suggested ICly to the Government. Nice idea though.

  1. All buses are RPly pre-fitted with cameras; this assists with crimes against the driver and for passengers to report the driver for unsafe operation of the vehicle.

Yes - there could be an automated RP message upon entering the bus "CCTV cameras active on bus" or something along the lines of that.

  1. All buses RPly have a bulletproof section around the driver's cab so a player cannot board the bus in an NCZ and then RP pointing a gun as soon as it exits the NCZ.

Not sure how this would work script-wise, and I don't think the developers will allow for that, as it hinders RP using a scripted advantage. Cops don't even have bullet proof cars or windows. I would however suggest for strong BUS so that it can take more damage say about 150% to be fair.

  1. When all routes are filled with drivers, any other players wishing to do the bus job are given a "test route" which would just be the existing mechanic.

Like the trucking job, the job will be determined on a available system, first come first serve. When there are no more routes to fill, players will have to wait for an available route to open up. This plays into the realism of the server. And if it comes to a point where there needs to be more buses on the road, than government can increase their budget ICly.

Thank you for writing these suggestions, as they have proposed additional ideas towards this revamp of the job. +1

I think we should have more the 4 routes. I think it is worth keeping the 7 that are in right now. we just a reveres route for of them and then we also add extras that go to north to sandy and paleto and just have all of their stops in that area.

Also if someone cancels their route when they get a bus the next time it should be the same one. This is will stop people form just canceling routes until they get the one that pays more.
