You posted a grocery list of things you wanted. Then said you want people to do things "The fun way". "Fun" is relative to each person. Like your video of you being pit after driving like a psychopath down a populated city square. You might think its fun to drive around like that, some people might see it as poor roleplay that a handful of members of a terrorist organization mixed with another gang are having a junker car street race at Legion Square. The same way you have a list of "wants", every single person playing this server has a list too.
-
I think some people enjoy and find it fun to roleplay realism. That is the thing you seem to be missing. Just because someone stops you from completing your in character goal does not make it "playing to win".

I feel like the easiest way to not get police attention is to keep your criminal activities hidden. If someone is a brazen criminal and advertises it like they are wearing a billboard on their head, you're going to get attention from the police and be met with harsher force. Example being, organizations like Black Corp and The Souls have raised little to no police attention. While on the opposite end of the spectrum organizations like OTF and The Shadows being very public. If you're going to roleplay being in a terrorist organization, you should roleplay it to the fullest extent. You think Osama Bin Laden is going to go to burgershot and hang out in the parking lot? A lot of players roleplay their criminal characters to have huge egos, which is fine you know its all IC and roleplay - BUT if you're going to roleplay having a huge ego then don't get shocked when your character gets ICly humbled by a bigger fish. Sometimes humility goes a long way. I think a lot of the time people choose to make their characters go down a certain path. You've got to remember that someone roleplaying a police character also has a brain and is not just a robot. The bottom line is, someone playing a criminal character should very carefully and meticulously pick at straws when it comes to dealing with the police. The common misconception is that police being "Aggressive" is a "power trip" when in reality its not. "Stacking Charges" is irrelevant with the fine and time cap, and a lot of people don't really understand what "Stacking Charges" is. If you commit the act ICly, you're liable to be charged. People just need to understand their actions have consequences ICly. If a cop wrongs you ICly then wrong them back ICly.

I can count only a handful of times where I fought more than 20 zetas at once. When Jay got arrested it was 90% of the time exclusively Zetas. Same with Bruce and the triads. Hell even Carlos with Aztecas and Deandre with WCA. Were there times that council outnumbered cops? Sure. Were there times where council teamed up? Yeah. A majority of the time each gang would fend for themselves. The few times that all gangs came together, the person that made the call would usually get in shit with the leaders especially if the council lost.

Freelance jobs should be entry level money making and not something someone should be relying on too long. If you want the cheapest supercar and you want to do it being a legal, it would take you around 583 days if you're doing 40 hours a week in a legal faction such as a mechanic shop, weazel news or law enforcement. 40 hours a week is a mfing full time job. Criminals have the potential to output more than anyone working in a legal faction in a single day. This is not even close to being true, the D10 does not have HSW mods. It /can/ hit 240 with the right computer and if you're on the right highway. Law enforcement does NOT have the tools unless you want to see jugulars, a helicopter and a D10 patrolling the streets.

This is a valid argument if it wasn't locked being real money. Nobody has a problem with fast ass cars if they're able to be obtained through IC means. The same way supers are coveted, the fast vehicles should also be held at a high price point with IN CHARACTER MONEY. The criminal playerbase in 2024 has more at their disposal than criminals in 2019 but somehow back then the state of "cops vs criminals" was a lot better. I feel like thats partly to do with gear fear. Back then there was no prison time limit, no fine limit, you had to pray you could order ammo through the laptop. If Jay Gamble was getting arrested it was already established Zetas were going to ambush PD. If Bruce Wong was getting arrested, Triads were going to ambush PD. There was less gear fear back then yet somehow criminals have easier access to equipment now. Doesnt make much sense does it?

bro i been looking at this thread for 30 minutes trying to figure that out!

I am a fan of everything except burgershot, but thats just my opinion. I appreciate the mapping you do for the server and I wish you had an easier way of adding it into the server.

God forbid there are consequences to driving an expensive and fast car recklessly. Just drive better. Server is way too asset focused and people spend money they don't have on cars they cannot afford only to then be stuck in a cycle of being under 100k cash while having millions of dollars in cars. If you cant afford a repair on your expensive car, you cant afford to drive it. Just drive better.

I feel like the argument about helicopters being used with riflemen on the side and comparing that to Afghanistan or another war-torn country kinda falls apart when you take into account the fact that the shootouts they are deployed in are also Afghanistan level clusterfucks such as the rockford plaza insurgent incident from last week. edit: Just to be clear, I'm all for gangs using force as they see necessary and believe it should be managed/handled in an in-character manner by law enforcement. I'm just making the parallel to make sure there are no double standards. If any gang wants to rock up deep and attempt a wipe on law enforcement then all brakes will be cut and they should be met with an unstoppable force in the same in-character manner.

Yall gotta get your hand-eye coordination game up I don't mind the hotkey, Just gotta be careful not to mis-input.

We should require PD to identify themselves as undercover cops when you ask them! this is a joke

What I was trying to explain was that current system in place completely contradicts what was the intended development of the court system. Realistically, people in the server should all be appellants. Currently people serve prison sentences, suffer fines and penalties then a case is opened in the criminal courts if they wish and then after if they don’t like the result they can file in appeals court which is basically taking what happens in real life except a small inversion at the start of the process. Realistically what should happen if we want to call it “criminal court” is you should serve your time in DOC and if you open a case and found guilty you should go back into prison to serve a longer sentence afterwards to make up for the jail=/=prison situation. To make up for this, if you are sent to DOC for whatever reason that isn’t a serious or violent felony, I’d have no problem with people being offered bail to skip the initial sentence and then if found guilty return to serve their original hold + longer. During its inception, the purpose was to give people that were truly wrongfully charged a way to appeal their sentences issued by law enforcement. Criminal court or as you mentioned the “superior court” was going to be worked on in the future to allow for a person in the immediate arrest process to request a bench trial BEFORE being sentenced to DOC by law enforcement. The court of appeals was intended to be used if a member of judicial was not available at the time of sentencing and shifted burden of proof over to the appellant. This system was originally proposed to lessen the load of cases that would come in and cause inherently prevent a bottleneck on the branch (as it currently is). The issue with the current system is exactly that, too many people appealing cases with minimal effort simply stating “I wish to appeal my sentence” in the narrative. This might come as a shocker to most but during the initial development, appeals were always intended to be something only for high profile cases and serious charges with hefty penalties to losing and “wasting everyone’s time” such as heavy fines and even further prison sentence as a way to encourage only actual innocent people to appeal and not just someone looking for a loophole or plea deal. While I do respect a lot of the members in the judicial branch OOCly, I completely disagree with the current state of things and am disheartened by the state of everything such as wait times, the lack of US caselaw etc. While the initial concept was to create a Justice system that was better fit for the server, it was also intended to be based off US caselaw to have a strong backend of things. With no disrespect to the current caretakers of the faction I think what we have now is a mismatched amalgamation as opposed to a good fusion.
-
If this is the way you are being trained as a member of the judicial faction and or training other members of the judicial faction this is inherently incorrect and will be brought up for discussion to be corrected in the near future. These are appeals, appeals are the ONLY thing that was developed from the start was to treat them as appeals and this is probably the reason that there is such a long wait time because of this exact reason you've stated in your post. While I don't agree with the only court being open right now being appeals court, that is just the sad truth at the moment.
-
Because that is how our legal system is set up. They are called appeals for a reason. The due process IS your character being arrested, you are entitled to an appeal if you think you are not guilty but that is an APPEAL. You are an appellate. (source: I was on the government development team) Do I want there to be bench trials before someone is prisoned? Hell yeah! Do I believe a lot of things need to change? Yeah.
-
I think the common misconception a lot of people in the thread have is that "JB need to prove people guilty or it should automatically be reversed" this mindset clouding everyone's judgement. These aren't your typical criminal case bench trials. You were ALREADY found guilty. You are APPEALING your guilty sentence. The burden of proof in an appeal is on the defendant. You are to prove yourself innocent as you were already found guilty, hence the phrase "appeal".

I don't think people realize that you will reach the ability to import .50s with this system faster now than previously. This is a shortcut to make it more accessible a gang to have the quality of life aspects that being official has. This isnt to make assets easier (or harder) to obtain. Sit the fuck down, look at the damn update and actually READ IT before going off on a tangent. It used to take almost a YEAR if not longer to become official. Now you can become official in what? 2 months. That was a YEAR if not longer (depending on if you came in as a tier 2 or tier 1 faction) before you could order a .50 shipment. NOW you'll be able to order .50s a LOT earlier. Stop looking at the god damn numbered tiers in such a skittish way. Its gonna be easier to rise through the tier system. You guys got a fucking crazy good update and I know someone like Collie/Chrisy put in a ton of input thinking about YOU mfs but then you same mfs will sit here and be ungrateful and full on panic mode without realizing how much of a positive step this is. ____ On another note, the fact that a lot of you are blatantly calling the .50 a "meta gun" and feel so god damn entitled to using it is actually a shame considering a lot of those same people will be the first to accuse others of "playing to win". Its beautiful irony honestly.

Well no, your operation got discovered. While it might have seemed smart, you still got found out. Why is them reporting you to police automatically reduced down to "Ruining someone elses RP experience". You losing your assets in game should not be compared to ruining an RP experience. This is not tarkov, gear fear should not be a thing. Your character goes out to do illegal activities, you mentally should be ready to possibly lose whatever your character has on them. If your character does something IC to someone, perhaps robbing them. Does this automatically mean they can claim "you are ruining my rp experience"? We have to disconnect how we feel OOCly about something and focus on "How does my character deal with this" instead.
-
Its because people are too attached to their assets, don't want to face the repercussions of their characters actions or are just spiteful in the moment. Until people start remembering that we're all playing characters it won't get any better.

The basis of my post was that the human mind is an enigma and there's truly no way to pinpoint why people do certain things. Some people will snitch out of spite, some people will snitch out of gain. Going running to IA /is/ on the same ground as someone snitching to the police. If you want to argue "highlighting misconduct" you can also say that criminals going to the police about other organizations is highlighting misconduct. People DO post forum reports out of spite. I have seen plenty of gang on gang beef completely tainted by people rushing to post forum reports instead of handling their issues on through RP. There is a reason I don't post forum reports, it just leads down a spiral of negative feelings for everyone involved. The situation you mention about most of the time RP leading nowhere because of masks is a problem created by the players themselves which has seen zero improvement in over 5 years. Masks are too prevalent but that is a community issue that needs to be changed by the players themselves. Even finishing people off in gunfights is detrimental to the server because of the way the NLR rule works. Everyone wants to get their "Revenge RP arc" but nobody will take the time out of their day and ask themselves why that's not possible.
