  1. Oof, you're right. big Y i k e s
  2. Why are people for all of this RNG being added that you cannot interact or interfere with in any way? How about instead of wanting a random chance of being told if your vehicle is being chopped, you pay attention to the vehicles you have out and actively check your GPS or where your vehicle is parked, make BOLOs, call your friends or connections you have to keep an eye out for your car.
  3. You mean IRL there isnt 2-5 cruisers on 1 person for a standard 30kph speeding ticket traffic stop? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
  4. Jonathan Mercer. Love you old man
  5. It depends on how you were suggesting it be implemented. you said 'make it so if you smash into a police car you stall instantly. ' which to me would be when making contact with a police car the other driver would stall while the PD car wouldn't be harmed. when smashing at very high speeds on immobile objects, you already stall instantly unless desync comes into play (which it frequently does). Having people stall when they make contact with a PD cruiser could make PD use theirs as a wrecking ball. i think a good in between can be found
  6. This sounds extremely OP too. keep the mechanics how they currently are, just fix barricades. Otherwise if you make it so that people stall instantly when hitting a cop car it can lead to some very unrealistic maneuvers also. (i.e getting in front and desync brake checking, instantly stalling the other, or pd pit maneuvering them and they stall because of contact with the cop car)
  7. Please don't purposefully quote me out of context. During the whole reply I was quoting someone who was saying that the lack of NPCs make it difficult to do maneuvers/operations (or whatever is the proper term) PD would execute IRL. I was stating that it seems his issue is with rage rather than the suggestion posted here and what you quoted was me saying that just because IRL PD is stronger and there are civilians driving around it shouldn't be a reason to keep insanely unrealistic indestructible barricades in the server as an advantage to make people use them in unrealistic ways.
  8. I don't disagree with this at all. I would probably make a case against ramming the barricades also if their render distance wasn't so low even if you drive the speed limit, you still can't react in time. You bring up very good points.
  9. This is a RAGE server, you should not keep invincible barricades the way there are because of the launcher this server is on. it is not a valid argument. Often times you see 5+ cruisers chase a suspect from behind rather than set up a strategy and interception/roadblock with proper communication. If these barricades would act like the prop (aka realistically) PD would then need to be more strategic and set up roadblocks with their cruisers rather than abusing barricades. You are basically repeating yourself and complaining that the server is on RAGE, which is known for its lack of NPCs. Can you elaborate why you think this is a valid point against making the placeable barricades destructible similar to the prop in gta v? The fact that IRL PD is stronger shouldn't be an argument you use against the suggestion made on this thread. You are saying that IRL PD is strong so the server should keep unrealistic barricades that get abused very frequently because they are invincible? Please tell me how this makes any sense.
  10. im guessing the +1 are for my suggestion of making using barricades like this against the rules, But i prefer your suggestion of making them destroyable like the prop in gta v, i think it would be a better solution. but the durability would have to be looked into a lot, as at the end of the day regardless of the car; Car vs Barrier the car wins 99.99% of the time and adding an in-between value might make things even more complicated. both barriers should break as easily as they do in normal GTA V as a prop. i much prefer this suggestion than the change of rules. your suggestion would make it be more realistic and add more RP. so, +1 do destroyable barriers rather than changing the rules.
  11. i am aware of their sync issue, but i was told it doesnt happen if you deploy them while the suspect is close (and not across the map) i might have been misinformed. Either way i believe there are alternatives than abusing and promoting poor RP with the barricades. Instead of having 5-10 cruisers hopelessly chase a vehicle from behind on the highway, you can assign a few to split off the chase and set up a road block, this would also be better as the one being chased would see the vehicles far in advance as they do not have the abused render distance issue barricades have. Sync issues are not an excuse to actively take part in extremely poor RP.
  12. I believe that PD abuse the fact that barricades you deploy are an unmovable object no matter how fast you hit them or with what vehicle you drive they will never break and their render distance is extremely low at high speed, it gives the one being chased 0 time to react and injures them instantly or stalls their vehicle. This suggestion is to propose a change is made either in the server rules or internally in PD so that PD may no longer use barricades for this purpose. It is extremely poor RP and i would argue borderline powergaming considering no matter the vehicle you drive they are unbreakable. Spike strips were implemented for this purpose but i have never seen them used after the first week or two that they were introduced. PD use and abuse these barricades because once you hit them you are instantly injured. It makes it easier for them than trying to set up spike strips and then pitting the suspect once his tires have popped. Its less work and RP for PD. But it ruins the experience for the criminal that PD abuse these barricades instead of setting up more realistic traps/road blocks using multiple cruisers (or larger vehicles) or spike strips. This should not be allowed or accepted as a proper form of proper RP. This is why spike strips were added, but they are rarely if ever used currently. This suggestion is to hopefully change this. Examples: First and last video are of a similar situation. PD going ahead to the tunnel and setting up barricades to abuse the fact they cannot be destroyed like the normal prop in GTA V. 2nd video displays many things wrong. But to focus on the barricades, they set them up in the tunnel knowing that they were in the tunnels with their vehicles, you can hear one officer call "blockades, they're not gonna pass it, they're not gonna pass it definitely". Abusing once again the fact they cannot be destroyed. Realistically the contender and 6x6 would have plowed through the barricades destroying them and kept going. but the contender saw them in time and went over, while the 6x6 hit them and was stalled by this. There was no reason to set up barricades there other than the sole purpose to block the vehicles, it was not to keep civilians out as no civilian would jump on the train track and run down the tunnel to see whats going on, crowd control would be done where people board and on the surface to stop more people from entering the tunnel to the subway. please tell me your thoughts
  13. its why i said "can" implying a hypothetical situation that if they were to do that, they would have nothing to worry about in terms of a budget as they dont have one. they have no form of economy for their weapons, vehicle, armor or clothing. But thank you for presenting my argument disingenuously. I agree with this, swat should not be nerfed. It is after all called "Special Weapons And Tactics" for a reason.
  14. sorry, but how is this a counter to any of my statements/suggestions? i am confused.
  15. I dont think when people talk about PD funding anyone is saying cops should pay out of pocket for the weapons, vehicles, or uniform. What many are suggesting is that PD should have a form of economy behind it, it would also add this "realism" many people are using as a reason to -1 this. PD can pull out 300 m4s,50 insurgents, clothe and armor 500officers a day and not have to worry about the expenses behind the scenes about these weapons, vehicles and clothing/armor. If there is a price tied to them, and an actual economy behind it it would add more realism to PD and make them manage their expenses. After all, why are taxes a thing in the server if the government factions (PD/MD) Dont have to manage their expenses and set up a plan to stay within the given budget.
  16. This kind of sums up what i am thinking. but i can also see it from PD's PoV, It will most likely stay because its a way to nerf criminals and artificially buff PD. But i cant help thinking it is a small form of powergaming since it is completely out of anybody's control. And the underlined part also makes a lot of sense to me. A massive supplier giving weapons to the factions, and the PD goes after the one picking the shipment up, and not the supplier itself? it just doesnt sit right with me.
  17. To play devil's advocate, i could easily see PD counter this by saying it is the criminals responsibility to patrol the area or go with friends that will patrol for you the drop while you wait to claim it. They can say the onus is on the criminal to make sure his shipment is safe to claim. Also, if there was that notification, with the current system it should appear on every shipment because every shipment might be tracked (all have a 5% chance). If this notification is RPed as a 'mole' inside the importing process on the other side (those you buy from) then there is no guarantee you would know about it either.
  18. Depends on the time of day, i personally do both. This is a false equivalence. With drugs you need to make them, drive them to the dropoff or people to sell and do the transaction. at any point in time PD can catch you, if you go at the dropoff often people may snitch, or patrolling PD may search you for drugs or large amounts of cash from a transaction. There are multiple points of potential interception. Not just a scripted thing with no interaction being involved. Honestly this is the best counter to the suggestion i have seen and i can see it now from your point of view. I will not retract the suggestion as i think this can lead to a healthy conversation about the standings of PD vs Criminals. But the way you described it is surprisingly accurate and i didn't realize it until you said it. Especially this line: Thank you for taking the time to present a proper counter argument. I don't agree on nerfing swat, it shouldn't be a fair fight. they should have better weaponry and criminals should not feel confident going up against them. But wouldn't their members be an OOC issue? considering some gangs were told OOCly to slow down the recruiting by higher ranking staff members, wouldn't the same issue on the side of PD also be OOC?
  19. Those are the names of the drop locations, does PD not get a message for the exact spot of the drop i.e Puerto del sol? even if so... if you see Paleto it narrows it down to 2.grapseed narrows it down to 1. Airport to 3., Vespucci to 1 location. Not exactly difficult to find out which it drops at if what you are saying is true. The first example is you not being responsible with your time management, or other stuff going on and you showing up late. The second I already tried in other situations involving PD and got charged with essentially 'guilty by association's charges despite having nothing illegal on me. And the third works well for when someone is ordering a big shipment of weapons, but is extremely impractical and borderline impossible for every drop that happens. This is where you are wrong. Only those with the rank which may order can see the notification of the location and time it will arrive, and it is up to them to relay the information to those it concerns. If I would suspect there to be a mole I would request to not have the information said over the radio, say my number and ask them to text me so most if not all possibilities of my drop being raided are nullified. I very much disagree that drug Labs are automated. It is a dynamic environment, having set people to scout, when others roll up deciding to rob them and take their phones vs letting go them go with a chance they call cops, many interactions happen at labs. This is in no way comparable to a SCRIPTED automated notification. Could there be more to implemented for drops, chopshop and many other things? Sure. But I do not agree that the way to fix the issue is to implement things that would just aggravate the issue above. If your question is: 'But arent most activities already automated?' implying there is a problem with the way it is and the lack of RP around it; your answer to this issue shouldn't be 'lets add more automation to the server.'. you are bolstering the issue even more by increasing the frequency it occurs on the server. Then I must have been given misinformation, my apologies. I appreciate your detailed reply.
  20. What happens IRL vs what is healthy for the server is 2 completely different arguments. i am attempting to state that it would be better for the server in terms of RP and overall interaction between cops and criminals. Many things are not realistic but are the way they are because it is better for the community overall, and promotes better RP. This is the argument i am trying to make.
  21. thats the thing. COULD. there is nothing in our power we can do to prevent this from happening, no relationships to be forged and strengthened with the one who is giving us the weapons, no paying them to make sure only people they trust are on the job at hand. Nothing. We are powerless in this scenario to RNG. I couldn't care less if PD catches me importing 30 .50 rounds and i go to jail for it. What i am worried about is them raiding my house because of a mechanic i had no power to prevent, no matter how much i could try. I also use to make massive imports of 50shotguns as more weapons shipped save the buyer money. However when my 50 shotguns worth 500k and my 30 AK rounds worth under 5k have the same amount of chance to be caught, forgive my language but i think that is really fucking stupid.
  22. With the recent changes PD now has a 5% chance to receive a notification for illegal imports of weapons, ammunition or attachments. This change should be reversed back to how it was previously, and here is why: It adds automation to the server This is not something criminals can outsmart, counter, or prevent. The notification will go out regardless of the precautions the criminal takes; I.e never saying the drop location on the radio, only texting then deleting the texts, or saying the location in person to minimize the risk of leaks. Removes potential RP with PD planning to send in moles to gangs, pay off informants, etc. that would allow criminals to also interact and prevent potential leaks of information. I have talked with 2 people i know who has had this happen to them and they both said the same story, they went to pick up ammo when a lot of swat and PD rolled up on them, caught them and arrested them. Later that same day their house(s) got raided by PD and they lost all of the weapons and munition they worked hard to stash. Now i am not certain if PD catches you at a dropoff that they would raid you house, but even if they didnt do this I would put forward that this new implementation for certain removes potential in depth RP to the server between PD and gangs. It adds automation, i could even see how some people would see it as powergaming because there is literally nothing we can do as criminals to stop PD from getting that notification. Please revert this change and promote better RP inside of PD. Get moles into gangs, work your way up the ranks like you would IRL until you eventually have enough information to bust the whole thing wide open. Pay off informants, offer tempting deals for those about to go to prison. etc. Just please, please dont keep this in the server. It adds 0RP, adds automation and there is nothing criminals can do to prevent PD from getting that notification. Looking forward to seeing input from everyone Edit: I have been told by some people that it is higher than 5%, but here is the screenshot i am going off of from NBDY's stream last month. the value might have been adjusted.
  23. Title says it all, suggestion to add more clothing options and a wardrobe so people who enjoy changing outfits dont have to keep and go through 5+bags in their house of just clothing they spent a lot of money on. i counted mine, and i have 8 full bags of clothing, quite a few items which are the same because its easier to buy new clothes than to filter through all my bags to find out where the one shirt i bought last week is. I have seen so many suggestions about this only for the thread to die out and then we hear nothing back whether or not there are plans for it to be added, so i will link below all related suggestions. Having a wardrobe and its own UI where you would be able to preview your clothing in that wardrobe similar to a clothing store to pick out what to wear from your own previously purchase clothing would be great for RP purposes. I know personally that a lot of people just buy more clothing because they cant be bothered to filter through their bags and i dont think this makes sense or makes for good RP. But most of all it would be a great quality of life change for the server, having people being able to change out of clothing much, much easier and not use 1/2 their stash for clothing that they will end up never touching because its too annoying to go through all the bags. Maybe with the wardrobe you can have saved outfits similar to GTA online to allow fast swapping of outfits you spent time picking out. All related suggestions, added some that have to do with clothing store improvements because it is relevant.: These are all the related posts i was able to find, some of them have a few out dated points but the overall idea still stands. Make improvements to clothing options, clothing stores, and add wardrobes so players can store clothing and have a UI in their house to easily swap between saved outfits, and look at the clothing they own.
  24. Cool suggestion, even cooler cat. +1
