Heres the thing, It dosent. If its a semi automated system which only triggers/becomes available after X amount of time has passed, then provably no one was available to participate in the RP, therefore it takes nothing away from no one and instead simply ends a frustrating wait for someone who just wants to play a videogame. Putting an upper limit to how long someone should have to wait for their vehicle can only be a good thing. if their licence is clean and they have the cash, send them on their way.

The server has an ongoing problem with people using scripted vehicles for unintended purposes. whilst this suggestion seems fairly innocent, its still NRP and its a slippery slope. Having limited recovery options also encourages people to be more careful with their cars, discourages goon behaviour and creates RP when you have to go to a mechanic shop in person to ask for a recovery/order a cab/take a bus etc. Dont get me wrong it sucks when your vehicle gets totalled but thats part of the experience. RP around it dont abuse script vehicles.

Knockouts & DM Rule Amendments [BALA]

+1 Love this, particularly because it gives middle ground for non lethal weapons like blunt objects to actually be non lethal.- 49 replies

Not against this, has been suggested in the past, still think its a cool idea. +1.

this still dosent change the fact that you cant actually see what they are doing. which is the problem.

Its not, for the reasons i provided. if you know otherwise. please expand.

The biggest issue i have with what is otherwise a very well thought out suggestion, is how this could be abused and or metagamed. example: John and Jim are friends privately, but not in the same gang. John plans to rob a bank with his gang, Jim isnt doing anything but get a call from john asking him to come to x location. Johns friends then take jim hostage extensively organically but in reality this was all part of a bigger plan. you see where this is going... Frankly I think Fear RP rules should stay as they are, the consideration to a third party is entirely an IC thing to be handled within PD, Sd, and gangs internally. Hostage bank robberies can already take WAYYYYY longer than they need to and i believe theres already a recent post regarding this which went nowhere. Even if the hostage isnt aware of any intent, this still allows the agressor party to add another layer of shackles onto the responding party. which would create more confusion, more reports, more disputes. it would not be handled in a positive manner. And also from my experience, hostage negotiators already give hostage takers a fair amount of rope when it comes to demands. the most common outcome is you leave the hostage and get like a 5 second head start on the chase, which is reasonable. its only when hostage takers do not accept that, that alternatives are looked at. Again, I understand WHERE this suggestion is coming from, but I see no way to implement it in a way that wont be abused.

This seems reasonable. Icly when im giving off to a cop about being stuck at impound for over half an hour, the reason they always give is "we had more important things to do than come here to get your car out." This is fine, and reasonable, tho an argument could be made if you have 10 cars in a single chase around the city you could prolly peel a unit off to go help. but i dont know exactly what the situation was so fair enough. but it would also be fair to say if someone hasnt responded to your impound call within 15-20 mins, its reasonable to get it out yourself. This isnt stealing RP from LEOs its lightening their load when they are too busy to participate in your RP. everyone wins.

Why Armor Should Be Sold in Gun Stores Like Weapons
Quietthecutie replied to CodySoulDreamer's topic in Discussions
but you can make money off of it... like passive income, chopping etc. its not something youll commit all your time to, but you can make some extra cash doing opportunistic crime with it. This is again my point, there's a lot of ways to make money as a crim, the typical curve is the higher risk the activity, the higher potential rewards (with some outliers.) The lower the risk, the less profit, but the less chance of getting caught/killed. so yeah. typically, doing labs, cooking drugs etc has the highest potential reward, but also the highest chance of getting rotflolstomped in the process. whereas doing something like say, chopping small, has much less reward, but assuming you do it smartly, its almost impossible to get caught, even as a solo. -

Why Armor Should Be Sold in Gun Stores Like Weapons
Quietthecutie replied to CodySoulDreamer's topic in Discussions
Very true. but this is where a certain level of savvy gamer strategy comes into play. If you play a certain way, yeah that 20k will go real quick. and youll be back to square one. but if you play it another way, you can turn that 20k into 50k, then into 100k and so forth, before you know it you have a healthy bank account. Yes there will be setbacks, some Ls taken along the way, but this isnt a single player game. there will be winners and losers. win the aggregate like others have. Also the note of 95% of the form im opposed to someone is because rarely is a suggestion so unbelieveably fantastic that everyone agrees with it...therefore i will always be disargeeing with someone. i find discussions and debates alot more fun than just posting "+1 i fk wit dis ong frfr." or "-1 " sorry if that annoys you. -

Roadworking burgershot fishing oil refining Mining working a full time job robbing houses robbing stores chopping cars gambling boosting ATMs stealing licence plates hunting doing jobs in DOC farming Simply existing (Passive income.) ...to name but a few. most of these are relatively risk free and most of them will net you 20k within 1-3 hours. some require equipment, some do not. all of them can be done solo if you wish tho some at a limited capacity. play the game your way. Really the ignorance would be acting like theres no way to make money in this city. theres absolutely loads of options...most people simply dont want to do them and want to just PvP their way to a steady income. -
this has been suggested before to my knowledge and I still dont think its feasible. Its a cool concept but as yaboy Demon puts it, Players IDs and actions must be visible to all other players interacting with them at all times at least on an OOC level to ensure rulebreaks dont occur. You can still roleplay blindfolding someone, nothings stopping you doing that. Yes you are required to take a leap of faith that they wont meta but no greater a leap than people not metagaming by communicating in discord when they are kidnapped. its the same thing.

From my understanding of previous conversations part of this is a script issue. Were that to be overcome, as i previous suggested, I think having VIP reduce licence suspensions (the same way they do Jtime) from 24 hours, to 12 to 6 to 4 depending on VIP tier is perfectly reasonable and would be a good incentive. The server makes more revenue, crims will benefit, and i really dont think we would see a massive spike in crime rates. Most peoples play sessions dont last longer than 4-6 hours and i dont think most crims care about getting their licences back on the day, its the following day when you log on and see its still suspended that kills you.

Make it available for us to take guns from cops
Quietthecutie replied to Harshay_Agarwal's topic in Criminal Suggestions
To quote the man himself, Einhart from the last time this was suggessted: "I refuse to be a raidboss you and the boys can hunt down for some loot." Cop vs crim interactions should not be motivated by the prospect of looting guns. ever. Cops are a reactionary, legal organisation. that's why their guns are free. they get free equipment, because they are not free to use it however they like. Also AI generating a suggestion is wild and shows how little thought has actually been put into this... -
Why Armor Should Be Sold in Gun Stores Like Weapons

The playing field is deliberately not level. thats by design. Again, if you wanna do lone wolf shit, have at it. but no one is obligated to help you then if youre not willing to be a little more thoughtful with your approach. and the server certainly isnt obligated to change simply because you see purchasing from and establishing relations with larger orgs as "kissing ass.." Most people would see that as just business but hey you do you. -
Increase DOC stamps value for reducing time at DOC
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
DOC is still an AFK roulette as unless you are super downbad stamps are not worth. there is no longer a poker table. the only RP comes from DOC who, god bless em, do their best but they really need some dev love. -

Quietthecutie replied to CodySoulDreamer's topic in Discussions
Ye im kinda like over the whole "woe is me cant make it in this crazy world cus all the fat cats have MONOPOLIES" speel tbh... My crim is not part of any major org and gets by just fine because i interract with other orgs, have good friends, allies, do my best to stay on good terms and develop relationships, yknow, roleplay. If you wanna lone wolf it and declare war on the status quo ICly, have at it. but on forums i just dont feel like you have the skin in the game. -
Then respectfully, your views dont seem to align with what the devs are trying to acomplish. if all you wanna do is passively make money, theres a ton of legal/semi-legal jobs you can take to do that. criminal enterprises almost always have the highest PVP focus because from a gameplay perspective. thats what the server wants and thrives on.
-
-1. What is realistic dosent always equal what is best for the server. Anything that involves being able to passively generate illegal resources with minimal risk should not and frankly will not be permitted, unless development wants to make a violent Uturn on all the changes it has implemented in the past 2 years or so, which has removed all this stuff. Criminal enterprises, and criminal RP will always err towards a high interaction with multiple factions approach.

-1 While the idea might sound good in theory, in practice what would happen is people who are downed in shootouts comming for their still alive and fighting buddies which, when you are in a state where you are literally supposed to just be holding your guts in and nothing else, is very poor RP. This already happens with people talking like its a counterstrike lobby to any ally in earshot despite being downed. being able to speak on radio would make it 10x worse.

This was a discussion a while ago, an idea that smaller calibre pistols could be scriptly hidden to give them a purpose as the meta back then was everyone used .50s, for everything. it being the most powerful pistol, easily obtainable at a reasonable cost. there was no reason to use anything else. This has somewhat been addressed with FM2.0. now lower tier pistols are used because they are easier to obtain for lower tier factions. With regards to the realisim argument, yeah realistically you could hide some pistols stuffed down your waistband, and I dont hate the idea of there being a "waistband" clothing slot in your inventory where you could store one small calibre pistol. However, this is a videogame, and as Eliza said, the current system works because it is clear and obvious when someone is armed. if suddenly anyone could potentially have a gun hidden on their person, this would have so many knock-on effects in RP that I dont think we are considering. For example. it would slow all police interactions to an absolute crawl. as cops would have no way of verifying someone is unarmed once they step out of their vehicles unless they are able to search them. they will always have to assume they are. this would make them play a lot safer, wait for more backup, draw their own weapons more frequently. From a crim perspective, DM rights, escalation, and robbery would all be affected, and again, not in a positive way. there would be a lot more guesswork and a lot less clearly defined situations. I think the current ruleset is a lot clearer and a lot easier for a RP server to function on. If you dont see a gun on someones back/hip and they are not carrying a bag, you know they are unarmed and the RP can flow freely with a lot less second guessing.

Why Armor Should Be Sold in Gun Stores Like Weapons
Quietthecutie replied to CodySoulDreamer's topic in Discussions
Your assessment that they have an advantage in a fight is correct. Your assessment that this is unfair and is bad for the server is incorrect. Bigger gangs will have easier access to weapons and equipment that smaller gangs will find harder to get. because....they are a larger organisation with better connections. Small gangs can still acquire these items, but they will have to work harder, establish relationships, carry out deals, create their own stockpiles. you can compete, but it will be an uphill battle. this forces you to interact, which is a good thing because as a smaller org, you need to get yourself out there and make connections. This is all totally by design and indicative of a system working as intended. Its worth remembering that larger orgs all started with nothing. some of these orgs have existed in one form or another for several years. and many of them had to work their way up the ladder BEFORE FM 2.0 which has made sure even small orgs have access to some kind of weapons. they are simply ahead of the curve. -
Why Armor Should Be Sold in Gun Stores Like Weapons
Quietthecutie replied to CodySoulDreamer's topic in Discussions
RPly this doesn't make any sense... Whilst many civilians will carry a gun for personal protection, a gun is a non intrusive item which can be simply stored in a holster clipped onto your belt. Kevlar vests are HEAVY, cumbersome and uncomfortable to the point where people wouldnt wear them day in day out on the off chance they get shot at. Your average civilian has no reason to wear Kevlar, unless for some reason they are at risk, in which case the solution isnt to put on body armour, its to take the matter to the authorities. Now if crims feel that purchasing body armour should be open at a lower faction tier, thats a different conversation. -
see yall next year.
