Eclipse Server Rules - Changelog

29/JUN/2023

  • We would like to announce a significant change regarding the implementation of scripted No Crime Zones (NCZ). We will be conducting a trial period to remove these zones in all areas except for banks and poker locations. The No Crime Zones were initially established in a different environment, and as both our community and staff team have evolved, we now possess more comprehensive guidelines and rules to address the issues that the No Crime Zones were designed to prevent.

We want to emphasize that this change aims to enhance the natural and realistic role-play experience by eliminating potential interruptions. Previously, as an example, individuals could report heinous crimes, such as murder, and seek refuge within an NCZ. However, we feel that this practice, known as rule playing, has not been adequately enforced. Consequently, this trial period will restrict the extent to which individuals can utilize NCZs for protection in such situations.

It is crucial to understand that the absence of scripted No Crime Zones does not excuse inappropriate behavior that was previously deemed unacceptable in these locations. This change does not grant a free pass to engage in disruptive activities at places like hospitals or to initiate robberies or other serious hostile actions within these areas. Players will still be held accountable for their actions according to all our other existing rules, including those pertaining to Non-RP, Robbery, and Theft.

We hope that this trial period, which will last for an unspecified duration, proves successful in keeping No Crime Zones permanently disabled. Our goal is to foster an engaging and immersive environment that encourages responsible role-playing.

No Crime Zones can and will still be used by the Event Team where they feel it is applicable, and can also be temporarily established by Senior Staff members in areas that they deem have the need for it.

This change will not impact the utilization and locations of Speed Cameras, as they will continue to function both as an in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) tool in these key areas. Their purpose is to discourage unrealistically excessive speeding.

Updated under 3. Prison Break (PRISON RULES) & 15. Prison Breakout (GENERAL RULES)

Old (Prison Rules):

  • Rule Description (3rd sentence): "However, breaking out from prison could be a part of someone's character development, but it needs to be regulated so that it does not happen too often, and if it does happen, that it is filled with roleplay and free from rule violations from all sides."
  • Bullet Point #1: "Once an inmate is behind the gates or a locked door, break-out requires prison break permissions."

Updated (Prison Rules):

  • Rule Description (3rd sentence): "However, breaking in or out from prison could be a part of someone's character development, but it needs to be regulated so that it does not happen too often, and if it does happen, that it is filled with roleplay and free from rule violations from all sides."
  • Bullet Point #1: "Once an inmate is behind the gates or a locked door, breaking in or out requires prison break permissions."

Old (General Rules):

  • Prison Breakout must be approved by a Senior Moderator+ prior to the RP being initiated. Players may also not participate in more than 1 prison break attempt within 1 OOC week. For more detailed prison rules, read our Prison Rules.

Updated (General Rules):

  • Prison break-in and break-out requests must be approved by a Senior Moderator+ prior to the RP being initiated. Players may also not participate in more than 1 prison break attempt within 1 OOC week. For more detailed prison rules, read our Prison Rules.

The reason for adding this rule is to make it more clear that any attempt(s) to break in to Bolingbroke Penitentiary (DOC) also require "prison break" permissions.

Changed under 12. No Crime Zones (NCZ):

  • OLD: No Crime Zones are listed below. Only the interiors of each zone are considered.

  • New: No Crime Zones are listed below.

  • Clarification: The "Only the interiors [...]" section was removed to make the locations more fluid and to prevent ruleplaying set locations.

Changed under 9. Non-Roleplay (Non-RP):

  • OLD: Swimming for an unrealistic amount of time in a chase. Always have a goal when you swim in a chase, don't just swim out to the ocean.

  • NEW: Swimming during an active chase. Exemptions include crossing a small body of water (such as a river) or to an escape vehicle (such as a boat).

  • Clarification: Although the rules previously stated that swimming for an unrealistic amount of time during a chase was disallowed, there were still multiple instances of it occurring. If you are being chased and you would find it advantageous to swim across a small body of water such as a river to gain a slight advantage or to swim to a boat that was set up for you, that'd be acceptable.

Reformatted All Rules:

  • Faction Rules
  • Snow Rules
  • Discord Rules
  • Forum Rules
  • Prison Rules

  • All of the above-mentioned rules were reformatted to fit the formatting seen in the General Rules. Minor things such as clarifications & grammatical changes were implemented including small 'blocks' at the bottom to clarify what rule/punishment will be issued per rule which as mentioned, was to better fit the formatting of the General Rules. All of the rules are the same as they were prior to the reformatting.

Updated, Relocated, Reformatted Lifeinvader Rules:

(Added) IC Clarification:

  • "Lifeinvader is an In-Character platform available to the players of Eclipse Roleplay. It is important to note that all server rules apply on the platform as they do whilst playing on the actual server."
  • Clarification: The point of this is to have it written down that Lifeinvader is an In-Character platform. This does not alter anything relating to the rules for Lifeinvader, just a small QOL clarification!

(Updated) Bullet Point #1:

  • OLD: No illegal activities can be conducted in private groups on life invader, such as sharing radio frequencies used for criminal activities, requesting backup, and selling/buying weapons/drugs.

  • NEW: No illegal activities can be conducted in private groups on Lifeinvader such as requesting backup and/or selling/buying weapons/drugs.

(No Change) Bullet Point #2:

  • This bullet point remained the same. No changes were made.

(Reworded) Bullet Point #3:

  • OLD: Players may not use real-world images depicted as their character or post in-game images not possible to be taken from Eclipse RP.
    - Further clarification; This rule is intended to stop players from using pictures of e.g. celebrities in real life and depicting that as their character by using it as their profile picture or posting images of said celebrity. This rule is also intended to stop players from creating unrealistic sceneries on singleplayer and using that In Character on LifeInvader, such as not limited to: Spawning cars or weapons on singleplayer that your character wouldn't have access to.

  • NEW: Players may not use real-world images depicted as their character or post in-game images not possible to be taken from Eclipse RP. A few examples of improper photos can be seen in the bullet points below;

    • Photos of a celebrity being depicted as your own character.

    • Photos of an unrealistic scenario created in single-player or on a private modded server.

    • Posing with weapons/vehicles that you do not have access to on the live server.

Clarifications (Lifeinvader):

  • Relocation: We found it to be redundant to have an entirely separate forum section for 3 specific rules for something that isn't considered a 'sub' area of the community like how Factions, Discord, or the Forums are so the decision was made to move Lifeinvader rules into the General Rules; the Lifeinvader rules now being "Rule 16. Lifeinvader".
  • Point #1: After the relaunch of Lifeinvader we as a staff team wanted to reevaluate the rules to ensure that they are updated and fit for the current state of the server and the roleplay environment that we aim to provide on Eclipse Roleplay. After discussions about removing this point fully or keeping it as it is, a compromise was made where we believe it is in the best interest of the roleplay environment to keep these interactions in-game rather than on a platform that anyone can use whilst not actually online on the server. The point made about sharing frequencies was removed as sharing a radio frequency in itself is not a crime.
  • Point #3: This rule remained the same as before, it was just cleaned up for easier reading.

Updated DM rule and add Purpose section.

Deathmatching is the act of attacking a player without proper IC motive and/or interaction. Prior interaction should include escalation such as a robbery or a report to the police.

  • Players on foot should only be attempted to be hit by a vehicle once with a valid motive.
  • Vehicles cannot be used as weapons in active shootouts unless where unavoidable.
  • Players must be able to explain their reason and provide proof of prior reasoning if requested.
  • If a player informs you that your VOIP isn't working, you must either fix your VOIP using appropriate commands (/vr 1) or use text to deliver your demands and RP.

Purpose: This rule is here to make sure that when players fight each other in the game, it happens in a way that makes sense and is fair. Everyone involved should know why the fight is happening. Also, this rule helps protect players from being attacked for no good reason. Before any fight starts, there should be enough talking and/or action that leads up to it, so everyone knows why it's happening.

Updated Non-Roleplay Rule and IC and OOC Interactions

Changed in IC and OOC Interactions:

Quote

Roleplay of a non-visible camera object such as a body cam is only valid for 48 hours, or until your character gets killed, until it breaks through RP, or until the player loses IC access to the device realistically e.g., being jailed/prisoned, going off-duty and changing out of your uniform etc. If you are put in jail/prison, it does not invalidate any previously recorded footage, you just need to re-do the RP for further footage to be valid. If players do not have a screenshot of the RP with (/time) then it must be validated by a staff member.

Clarification: Before we required that players must have a screenshot of their RP with a timestamp. While this is still recommended to make your situation as smooth as possible, it is now possible to ask staff to validate your RP. However, submitting an in-game report can still take time and your RP cannot be validated until it is seen and verified, so it is still recommended to take screenshots.

Removed from Non-Roleplay:

- Not roleplaying effects of tazer.
- Replenishing body armor in the middle of a gunfight.

Clarification: Changes to tasers have been made, cuffing is a more efficient process, tackling has been added, there are plenty of forceful options. Replenishing body armor is an IC action and requires player to stand still and not engage in the fight, thus making them vulnerable - it can come with IC consequences. Script changes were also imposed on PD/SD to make it harder to change body armor.

Changed under 16. Hacking and Exploits (Modifying Game Files to Gain Unfair Advantages):

  • Removed "replacing gun sound mods with more distinct sounds that could grant circumstantial advantages e.g. reaction time, being able to hear clearer over certain weather conditions, etc."

This change was a topic of discussion for a good bit, and after the weapon update, it was brought up again in the form of a community suggestion and general conversation within the Senior Staff team where the discussion's result was that we'd be reallowing the use of these mods as they do not provide a direct benefit to players utilizing them and primarily serve as a modification to improve immersion.

Removed under 10. Non-Roleplay (Non-RP)

  • Submerging any vehicle in water intentionally.

Reason: Script changes were made to mitigate people maliciously destroying vehicles to get items from the glovebox/trunk. With this being lifted, this means that players can submerge vehicles if it makes sense during their roleplay.

REMOVED Misuse of Expensive Vehicles from Non-RP.

ADDED to Non-RP:

  • Using inappropriate vehicles to ram and cause damage to another car. Appropriate vehicles are those with ram bars and heavy vehicles. Head-on rams are not allowed (ramming a vehicle head-on that is traveling towards you). Heavy Vehicles are considered but not limited to: Kamacho, Guardian, Pounder, Insurgent, TARV, other trucks, and vehicles of similar category.
  • Performing a PIT maneuver against a vehicle significantly larger than your own. PIT maneuvers can be performed by anyone, not in a supercar. (A PIT maneuver is a tap on the rear side of a car, not done with the intention of causing damage to the car with yours, that would be considered ramming).

CLARIFICATION:

We have differentiated between ramming to cause damage and performing a PIT maneuver. Anyone not in a supercar can perform a PIT maneuver with the new Rage MP sync without it being considered a ram, as long as you do it properly and have no intention of damaging the vehicle as you would when you ram. Vehicle size should still be respected.

Remember that you always need IC motive to attack someone and that your actions must make RP sense, which cannot be determined in the rules as it is contextual based on your situation alone. Ramming or PIT maneuvering turns your vehicle into a weapon and can have consequences.

This is a trial for us and if it ends up reducing RP quality then we will have to revisit. We foresee that allowing more fluidity of RP and fewer OOC restrictions like this can be positive if not overdone like the old days. Overall, this makes the rule of using your vehicles for various things equal across the board. PD/SD leadership has agreed that they do not perform PITs with their HSIUs.

Add to Non-Roleplay

  • Using law enforcement as a tool by criminals against other criminals to disrupt their roleplay at static criminal locations. For example, calling 911 to report a gang at a lab. Law Enforcement should also disregard this type of information if they are aware that a criminal is giving them it.

Add to Faction Rules

  • Law enforcement should not patrol areas containing lab locations with the intention of finding an active lab or criminals present. This also includes conducting surveillance in these areas specifically to identify criminals using the lab. (This does not prohibit conducting surveillance on a player who is in a lab or leads you to one). Note: A lot of lab locations are around public areas and could naturally lead to regular civilian traffic / police patrols.
  • Law Enforcement should not bait players or criminals into entering a lab and then take action unless there are operational reasons for the delay. For example, they should not delay pulling over a speeding vehicle until it enters a lab and then use that as a pretext to gain entry.
  • Only enter drug labs if a valid situation leads you inside (e.g. pursuit), if you hear or see firearms, if you're conducting surveillance on a person of interest in the lab, or if another RP scenario prompts you to investigate/enter.
  • For the sake of balance, and respect of drug lab locations being static once known, cops should forget the IC knowledge of an area being a drug lab after the situation is concluded.

Clarification:

  • Criminal = A Person who is actively engaging in criminal activities. For example, a player charged 3 years ago and now works as Weazel News isn't a criminal if they do not engage in criminal activities.
  • The Faction Rules added are what PD/SD currently follows (or should). Their drug lab policy is moved into Faction Rules.
  • Operational Delay is a broad term and as long as there is a valid IC reason to delay initiating a situation, it is legitimate. For example: if OTF is speeding and conveying in 3 vehicles, a single cop will not start performing a traffic stop on them, they will be followed until backup units arrive. This falls on the point below.
  • Drug Labs aren't safe havens, criminals have to take necessary IC precautions to prevent a lab from being raided. A wide variety of legitimate reasons can still bring the cops to a lab.
  • This does not affect informant RP unless that informant RP consists of straight-up informing the cops of an active drug lab. Information given could still lead to a drug lab especially if the above point isn't considered. This for example stops X criminal player from driving to a lab, realizing it's in use by their rivals, then contacting cops to screw with them because they are unable. We do not see this as healthy and also not proper RP development; CI RP is supposed to be much more in-depth.

Some generic examples of why cops could enter a drug lab:

  • 911 calls from civilians about gang activity, this is more for the ultra-public labs. Falls on taking precautions.
  • MD asks for PD/SD to accompany them into an ICly dangerous area e.g. catfish.
  • Gunshots.
  • Gang convoys.
  • Visible weapons, this is more an issue for ultra-public labs.
  • Etc.

Some generic examples of when cops shouldn't enter a drug lab:

  • They spot a vehicle outside a building that they know has a scripted drug lab.
  • They patrol an area where there is a drug lab and make an effort to investigate the inside with no other factors, and then see players and do a more complex investigation into it.
  • Another criminal drives up to a cop to tell them that X gang is cooking at X lab.

We are committed to maintaining a healthy balance of realism (RP), gameplay, and fairness, through our server rules, as we have done since the beginning. If any issues arise, we will always consider making the necessary adjustments.

Under 8. IC and OOC Interactions
Removed
Offensive Language, Sexual, Torture, or Disgusting Roleplay
Added Offensive Language

Offensive Language is defined as verbal abuse, harassment or the excessive use of insults targeted at a specific player or group of players:

  • Offensive Language is only permitted to be used in-character (IC) as part of roleplay. Out-of-Character (OOC) Offensive Language and racism are strictly prohibited.
  • Players engaging in excessive Offensive Language must stop immediately if requested by the other party through OOC channels.

Added Offensive Roleplay

Offensive Roleplay (ORP) is defined as sexual, torture and/or disgusting roleplay.

Offensive Roleplay (ORP) can only be performed if every participant and witness have expressed their consent:

  • The initiating party must get the consent of all the people involved through OOC channels. If someone retracts their consent or if a random player enters the scene, the ORP must be stopped until consent is secured.
  • Consent to ORP may be (un)conditional. Players are permitted to change the terms of their consent or retract it completely if they begin to feel uncomfortable during an active ORP scene.
  • If a player agrees to ORP, they should (and must) manage the boundaries of their consent; therefore, proper communication is really important. If the other party steps out of line, the player has the right to demand a change in behaviour or simply retract their consent altogether in order to force stop the ORP.
  • ORP must be done at private, hidden or secluded locations. In case a random player unknowingly enters the scene, then the ORP must be paused until consent is secured or until that player leaves the scene. If a player knowingly enters an the scene, it is automatically considered that they consent.
  • Entering particular places, for example, strip clubs, means that the player consents to the potential ORP one might reasonably expect to find at such places.

Rape (forced oral and/or manual stimulation/touching of genitals, penetrative sex), sexual assault, and paedophilia, including insinuations of and comments alluding to such actions, are strictly forbidden.

Use of ethnic or LGBT+ related slurs is to be considered Offensive Roleplay (ORP); therefore, the ORP requirements must be followed.

Sexual roleplay between consenting characters is not considered as ORP as long as it does not involve intimate parts of the body (it is okay to kiss, hold hands, hug, and touch non-intimate parts of the body).

If you believe that someone is engaging in ORP against your will, your first action should be to request that they stop through OOC channels. If your request gets ignored, then the offending party should be reported. If you are unsure whether your own conduct could be considered ORP, you can always just ask the other player or make an inquiry to our staff team (/Report).

Please also consider that the game is rated as “Mature 17+” and “PEGI 18”, and themes such as gang crime, drugs, violence, nudity, sexual content and strong language can still occur during roleplay, especially if it makes IC sense for these things to happen, for example, participating in criminal activities, inserting yourself into particular situations or areas, and presenting your character in a specific way.

Updated under 3. Deathmatching (DM):

Added the following stipulation in regards to active Faction Wars.

"If you are part of an active faction war and are on the enemy's turf and/or actively disputed turf, it will be considered sufficient escalation to engage in combat with confirmed participants in the war."

This means:

  • It is the attacking player’s responsibility to confirm that a target is an active participant in the war.

  • Killing non-participating players will be considered Deathmatching (DM). Reasons such as "It was an accident" or "I assumed x, y and z" will not be accepted.

  • Any attack on a script-wise non-participating player without proper escalation will be considered DM.

  • Third-party involvement (assisting in a faction war while not script-wise marked as a participant) is a Non-RP rule breach.

  • Assisting a faction war after being eliminated is a breach of NLR.

  • Attempting to bypass script limitations to participate in a faction war will be a rule breach.

  • A war deliberation ending without agreement is not a valid reason to attack the opposing faction.

Updated 16. Hacking and Exploits > Macroing

Updated wording for better clarification of the rule's intention. Direct actions such as automating /me's to treat a player that is injured, restrain them, search them, etc. are not permitted. Miscellaneous RP automation is not an issue.

Old:

  • Text Macros for Roleplay that do not affect others.

New:

  • Text macros may be used for miscellaneous roleplay, but not for direct roleplay actions (/me's) against another player (e.g., you cannot automate treatment RP, searching, etc.). Miscellaneous RP includes actions such as placing an object down, looking at a person, scratching your head, etc.

Updated 4. Fear-Roleplay (FRP):

The Fear-RP rule has been a staple in the community ensuring fairness across the board and to ensure players focus on the preservation of their character’s life over interesting themselves into unnecessary risk. However, it has been concluded that the rule in its current form is more restrictive to a natural flow of roleplay essentially forcing an outcome depending on who is the quickest to aim a gun for example.

This is a trial. If it is abused to avoid realistic consequences or to undermine roleplay quality, it may be changed or removed entirely and reverted to the legacy rule. Use it in the spirit it is intended – to create better, more engaging roleplay for everyone.

With the above in mind, the rule has been updated as follows:

New:

  • Players must prioritize their character's life and act as if they have only one life. This means taking realistic precautions and avoiding situations that would knowingly put their character's life at unnecessary risk.
  • Players whose life is in direct danger must RP adequate fear and are encouraged to comply with demands when faced with a weapon, however, if you choose to not surrender you must be willing to RP the full consequences of your actions.
  • In situations where players find themselves outnumbered (ex. 3v1) should show adequate fear for their life and comply with demands given.
  • If an attacker lowers their weapon to type, victims who were under fear RP remain as so.
  • A player is not showing proper fear if they run while on foot and a weapon is aimed at them at close range, or if they drive into an active shootout more than once without the intent of providing cover or fleeing with it.
  • A player has the option to react if they are in a powered vehicle, if they already have a weapon drawn facing their attacker, or if their attacker's view is obstructed by an object.

Old:

  • Fear Roleplay is the concept of showing appropriate care and concern to preserve your character's safety and life. We aim for balanced gameplay through this rule, and it may not be representative of real life at times.
  • Players whose life is in direct danger must RP adequate fear and comply with demands given to them. Direct danger could mean, for example, a gun aimed at your head or at you from close vicinity, by any player.
  • If an attacker lowers their weapon to type, victims who were under fear RP remain as so.
  • A player is not showing proper fear if they run while on foot/bike or in an unpowered vehicle and a weapon is aimed at them at close range, or if they drive into an active shootout more than once without the intent of providing cover or fleeing with it.
  • A player has the option to react if they are in a powered vehicle, if they already have a weapon drawn facing their attacker, or if their attacker's view is obstructed by an object.

Key Changes:

  • More Player Choice – You are encouraged to comply when faced with a weapon, but you now have the option not to surrender. If you choose to resist, you must be prepared to fully RP the consequences of your actions.
  • Outnumbered Situations – If you’re significantly outnumbered (e.g., 3 vs 1), you must show adequate fear and comply with demands.
  • Life Preservation First – The rule now emphasizes treating your character as if they have one life – take realistic precautions and avoid unnecessary risks.

What Stays the Same:

  • Lowering a weapon to type does not remove Fear RP for the victim.
  • Running on foot while a weapon is aimed at close range is still not allowed.
  • You can still react if:
    • You’re in a powered vehicle.
    • You already have a weapon drawn facing your attacker.
    • The attacker’s view is obstructed.

Updated 4. Fear-Roleplay (FRP):

Fear RP is still a rule. If you are faced with direct danger to your character's safety, and you do not have reasonable means to defend/evade, you must comply/surrender. As such, the following has been updated to reinforce this.

Old:

  • Players whose life is in direct danger must RP adequate fear and are encouraged to comply with demands when faced with a weapon, however, if you choose to not surrender you must be willing to RP the full consequences of your actions.

New:

  • Players whose life is in direct danger must RP adequate fear and are expected to comply with demands when faced with a weapon. Choosing not to surrender is only appropriate if you have a reasonable means of resistance or escape (e.g., possessing a weapon or a viable and immediately accessible getaway). If you do choose not to comply, you must be prepared to RP the full consequences of your actions. Simply attempting to run on foot without such reasonable means does not qualify.

ECLIPSE Server Rule Changelog (29/OCT/2025):

Added under 9. Metagaming:

  • "Players may not use House Robbery UI as a reason/escalation to rob/arrest another player at a house robbery location."

  • Reason for Change: The robbery UI is considered OOC information, and using it to your advantage constitutes metagaming. Players should come across house robberies naturally through in-character means. We will work toward script improvements to better support this in the future.

Added under 10. Non-Roleplay (NRP):

  • Added a list of acceptable vehicles permitted to hill-climb under Rule 10, bullet point 14.
    • The list can be found here.
  • Reason for Change: To eliminate ambiguity and ensure clarity regarding which vehicles are allowed or disallowed for hill-climbing under the Non-Roleplay rules.

Changed under 12. New Life Rule (NLR):

  • OLD: "Information prior to the death should be completely forgotten and is no longer a valid justification for any future hostile action against those involved."

  • NEW: "Information before the death should be completely forgotten and is no longer a valid justification for any future hostile action against those involved. This also includes revenge or retaliation after death—even if gang activity was involved, players under NLR cannot take part in any conflict or escalation tied to the situation that caused their death. Hearing from survivors or others that “XYZ gang killed two of our guys” and using that as a reason to retaliate is prohibited. Any future escalation must come from a new, unrelated situation."

  • Reason for Change: To clarify how the New Life Rule applies to gang and group conflicts, specifically prohibiting re-escalation or retaliation based on events tied to a player’s previous death.

Changed under 14. Player Theft, Prison Breakout, and Kidnapping (Player Theft):

  • OLD: "Robberies should be conducted in a realistic manner with a reasonable in-character motive. Location, time of day, and realistic population should all be considered prior to a robbery. Players should not conduct minor robberies in situations with high risk. Players should consider the risk vs reward of the robbery and utilize secluded areas where necessary to avoid witnesses."

  • NEW: "Robberies should be conducted realistically with a reasonable in-character motive. Location, time of day, and realistic population should all be considered before a robbery."

  • Reason for Change: Removed risk/reward to reduce unnecessary restrictions on player robberies while maintaining key realism factors such as time of day and location.

Added under 14. Player Theft, Prison Breakout, and Kidnapping (Prison Breakout):

  • OLD:
“Prison break-in and break-out requests must be approved by a Senior Moderator+ prior to the RP being initiated. Players may also not participate in more than 1 prison break attempt within 1 OOC week. For more detailed prison rules, read our Prison Rules.”

  • NEW:
“Prison break-in and break-out requests must be approved by a Senior Moderator+ prior to the RP being initiated. Players may also not participate in more than 1 prison break attempt within 1 OOC week. For more detailed prison rules, and how to request a prison breakout, read our Prison Rules.”

  • Reason for Change:
To clarify how the prison breakout request system works and where players can find information about it.

Changed under Prison Rules, 3. Prison Break:

  • OLD: "Do not initiate any RP for a prison break without approval. To seek approval, you must submit a report in-game or an AltRP ticket request in the ECLIPSE Discord."

  • NEW: "Do not initiate any RP for a prison break without approval. To seek approval, you must submit an in-game report.

  • Reason for Change: Prison break requests can now be approved by Administration Team members with the rank of Senior Moderator or higher. As Senior Moderators do not have access to the Alt-RP ticket system, the approval process has been simplified to in-game reports only.

Changed under 14. Player Theft, Prison Breakout, and Kidnapping (Kidnapping & Hostage Roleplay):

  • OLD: "You are for example not allowed to kidnap random players off the streets to use them for other roleplay such as bank or store robberies, this must happen naturally at the locations you intend to perform a robbery on."

  • NEW: "

    Hostage Taking & Kidnapping

Players may kidnap or take other players hostage in the following two situations:

    1. Reasonable Escalation

A hostage may be taken as part of a scenario that involves clear and justifiable escalation.
The escalation and reasoning behind the kidnapping must be easily explainable and documentable if reviewed by server staff.
OOC consent is not required for hostage taking that falls under Reasonable Escalation.

    2. Roleplay Purposes

A hostage may be taken when there is a clear and intentional roleplay justification, even if Reasonable Escalation is absent.
OOC consent is required for hostage taking that falls under Roleplay Purposes.

General Rules for All Hostage Situations

  • The kidnapping location must comply with all player theft and location rules.

  • If police are involved, no participating player may take another hostage for 48 hours.

  • If you intend to harm or kill another player, you must follow the Deathmatching (DM) rules. Note that a hostage situation may naturally escalate into one where a player is harmed.

  • Hostages from either category may be used in bank robberies or other organized criminal events, provided the above conditions are met.

  • If a kidnapping is prolonged and expected to last more than 3 hours, OOC consent is required, regardless of escalation."

  • All parties involved in a hostage situation are expected to roleplay reasonable negotiations. Demands should be realistic, such as requesting a vehicle, safe passage, or a modest ransom. Absurd demands like helicopters, planes, or excessive sums of money are not allowed. Both sides should be willing to compromise, and negotiations should be respected to allow for more gameplay, though situations can naturally develop where negotiations fail.

  • Reason for Change: The previous rule overly restricted hostage-taking by requiring it to occur only as part of spontaneous, location-based encounters. The updated rule allows more flexibility for players to create or plan hostage situations, provided they have clear in-character justification or OOC consent. This encourages more dynamic and varied roleplay while maintaining fairness and accountability through escalation and consent requirements. We also recognize that 1 1-week period to involve the police was a bit too much and a thing of the past.

ECLIPSE Server Rule Changelog (06/MAY/2026):

Added under Faction Rules (General)

  • Members of a government agencies and companies faction's high command team are expected to maintain a minimum of 5 hours of in-game activity per week. If a high command member is unable to meet this requirement due to real life circumstances, they should communicate this to their faction leadership, where temporary exceptions may be granted on a case by case basis. Persistent failure to meet this expectation without communication may result in removal from their position.

Reason: Faction high command members should not occupy positions if they cannot meet the hourly requirements. If this is consistent, they should step down from their position and allow someone who is more active to occupy said position.
