The REAL reason ECRP is in it's current state. (Opinion Piece)

I think a lot of points in the original post are valid, some points could benefit from additional context. The community should know that they can always voice their opinions in threads like this without being removed or punished, as long as they remain respectful. -

What kind of rules did you agree upon? not sure what you mean with your last point but; - everyone in the f4 is considered a participant in a war (if you don’t want to participate you stay away from the conflict zone/enemy turfs) -you can see the status of every person who is in the f4, if they are eliminated or not.
-
Have you tried the system yourself yet? In the faction wars menu you can already see, from both factions, who is eliminated and who isn’t. Not 100% sure what you mean with “rules you agreed on” but in the faction wars menu you can already see what time a war starts/ends, where it’ll take place and what is being wagered. if you meant something else please let me know. We will consider the first point that you mentioned. Bakmeel

07/JUL/2025 Updated under 3. Deathmatching (DM): Added the following stipulation in regards to active Faction Wars. "If you are part of an active faction war and are on the enemy's turf and/or actively disputed turf, it will be considered sufficient escalation to engage in combat with confirmed participants in the war." This means: It is the attacking player’s responsibility to confirm that a target is an active participant in the war. Killing non-participating players will be considered Deathmatching (DM). Reasons such as "It was an accident" or "I assumed x, y and z" will not be accepted. Any attack on a script-wise non-participating player without proper escalation will be considered DM. Third-party involvement (assisting in a faction war while not script-wise marked as a participant) is a Non-RP rule breach. Assisting a faction war after being eliminated is a breach of NLR. Attempting to bypass script limitations to participate in a faction war will be a rule breach. A war deliberation ending without agreement is not a valid reason to attack the opposing faction.

This thread will serve as a place for you to provide feedback on the new Faction War System. Feel free to share your thoughts on how parts of the War Menu could be improved, whether certain aspects (such as war points or rewards) need balancing, or what types of new rewards you’d like to see added. Please keep in mind that the following types of rewards (but not limited to) can't be supported by the script: Items that need to be manually spawned by staff Items that require delivery by the Cartel Houses, warehouses, vehicles, properties, etc. Mapping requests Modding requests Please stay on topic, remain civil, and use private messages (PMs) for side discussions or debates. If you would like to report a bug, please do so here.

The decision to kick people will be yours. Our new system doesn't require you to kick people that get punishments. What you do need to do, is reconsider what you want your faction to be. A group of friends who dont want to hold each other accountable or a group of friends who keeps each other in check and strives to be a better version of themselves. Furthermore, the people "who play it extra safe sometimes catch a punishment here and there" (which is the biggest part of the crim community) have nothing to worry about as there is leeway in our system for people who sometimes make a mistake. If you want to be succesful in the new system you have to put in the work to be succesful.

FM 2.0 was never intended to give .50s to everyone without requiring them to actually work for it. .50s will not be any harder to acquire with the new system than they used to be. Previously, only official factions could import these, and you had to obtain them through these official factions. In the new tier system, these factions will start at a higher tier than others to acknowledge their previous efforts and to meet the demand of the criminal community. Under the old system, if you wanted to import them yourself, you had to invest months of work into your faction. That hasn't changed. What FM 2.0 provides are stepping stones for factions as they progress, instead of an all-or-nothing situation. Naturally, the less desirable items will be unlocked first. Additionally, it offers a way for factions that previously had a low chance of becoming official within a reasonable timeframe, due to their continuous questionable behavior on the server, to import items sooner. If you are worried about your faction members breaking too many rules, you should reconsider your faction members and vet/train them properly. This should have always been the case, even under the old system, but some never cared to do so. As we have stated before, the tier system is open to changes and tweaks once the community has had a chance to experience it themselves. Just don't expect a .50 within a month or if you don't care to run a tight ship.

Hello everyone, On July 13th, we are excited to release the changes many of you have been eagerly awaiting. We've incorporated as many of your wishes and requests as possible, based on your feedback over the years and during community meetings. Our goal was to maintain a high standard of RP, making it more rewarding, while also reducing the workload for factions so you can spend more time enjoying the game and the server. Verified Factions The biggest change, which may surprise most of you, is that we are removing the Official Faction System. Going forward, there will be no more Official Factions. Instead, factions will now progress through a reworked tier system (details below) after receiving their Faction Guides. This means that all factions with guides currently, that aren’t Official Factions, will be placed in Tier 1 next Saturday. Current Official Factions will be placed in a higher tier. Factions without guides before this announcement will need to meet the requirements outlined in this post. We made this change because you, the community, have told us that you value having an F4 menu and the ability to use faction chat with your faction members. In our old system, this feature was locked behind a lot of red tape, which is not how we want to move forward. Additionally, our previous system created an unnecessary split between factions that were official and those that were not, which did not always accurately represent a faction's standing. Our new system significantly lowers the bar for factions to access basic features and prevents factions from being left behind. Tier System With these changes, we also had to rework our tier system to accommodate the many extra factions. As we write this announcement, we are still reviewing the final details of our tier system to make it as balanced and interesting as possible. We understand that things might need tweaking in the future and will listen to your reasonable feedback. The biggest changes are that weapons, drugs, attachments, ammo, and other equipment can now be assigned directly to your faction as you progress through the tier system. Our tier system will allow you to unlock different weapon importable items gradually, so you won’t unlock everything at once. At Tier 2, you will be able to import small arms, and at Tier 9, you will be able to import items that were not previously available. Imports will now also depend on your lore, so two factions that are in the same tier might be able to import different items depending on their lore. Current official factions will be adjusted to fit into the new system. The overview for the new Tier System will go live on the forums between July 8th and 12th. Transparency Many of you have told us that our current official system and how factions gain or lose tiers is too vague. To address this, we are introducing a more transparent and easy-to-follow roadmap. This will help factions understand when they are eligible for promotion and what behavior to avoid for demotion. While some criteria can’t be quantified, our new aim is to follow quantifiable criteria as much as possible so factions know what to expect. Along with the new internal guidelines for Faction Management, we hope you will experience much more transparency from our side. Transitioning to the New System As mentioned earlier, on Saturday, July 13th, we ask Faction Leaders of Verified Factions (factions with guides) to report so Faction Management can assist you in creating an F4 Faction. We expect to be quite busy, so please be patient. If you can't reach Faction Management in-game, feel free to contact your guides via Discord, and we will try to assist you as soon as possible. Furthermore, it’s important to note that even though you will be placed in Tier 1, you will need to meet the criteria for Tier 1 and Tier 2 before progressing to Tier 2. Most of you will need a faction thread that meets the new guidelines. Competition To encourage you to do your best, we will be hosting a competition for the 3 best faction threads. Visual appearance will play no part in this competition; it’s all about how well your thread follows the guidelines and its originality. The forum thread you create will be the cornerstone of your faction. You will need to follow the lore you create to progress through our tier system. We will pick the top 3 on July 31st. The reward will be an unconditional tier promotion for both new Verified Factions and current Official Factions. Feedback As mentioned earlier, we created this system to accommodate as many community wishes as possible while also being able to moderate factions. We understand the system won't be perfect on the first try and look forward to your feedback, which you can provide through your guides. Please note that feedback such as "Make a meta gun available at Tier 2" will not happen in the foreseeable future, as we want to keep progressing through our tier system a challenge. We will consider all reasonable feedback. Faction Management has access to many new tools to create a more exciting playing field for our Verified Factions. However, these tools are still new to us, and we will need some time to get used to them. Please be patient with us! Closing Statement As we roll out these changes, we want to let you know that, together with the development team, we have more exciting changes planned for the future. As we work closely with the development team, we will determine what is feasible and what isn’t. We hope you are all as excited about these changes as we are. Eclipse Roleplay Faction Management

Hello everyone, After restructuring our internal guidelines and processes, it is now time for the next phase of FM2.0. We are pleased to announce the next change under FM2.0 for the community: new forum thread guidelines. Although this update may not sound as exciting as some of you had hoped, we believe these changes will make a significant difference over time. We hope to release the big changes you have been waiting for within a couple of weeks, as the Dev Team is still hard at work finalising these changes. With these new forum thread changes, we will require that all factions create a new thread. The reason for this is that we want everyone to start fresh and follow the same format moving forward. Furthermore, some of these threads were created years ago by people who are no longer in the faction, and some information might be outdated and could use a revamp. We value the long history that some faction threads have and hope that the old forum threads will be linked to in your new forum thread. This new thread needs to start with an "original post." This post will be about the creation, history, development, goals, achievements, etc., of your faction, as many of you are already familiar with. After that, three posts need to be made, and we want you to put extra effort into them as they will need to show the very essence of your faction. What is your faction all about? What makes your faction unique and stand out from others? In the beginning, it might be a bit confusing what we are looking for exactly, which is why your faction guides will work closely with you to ensure that everyone gets it right. For new factions that don't have guides yet, they will now be eligible to request guides 14 days after the thread has been created and these three posts have been made. Because of this, we want to use your faction threads as examples for these new factions to draw inspiration from. To encourage each of you to make the best example forum thread possible, we will be rewarding the three best faction threads with a reward that will be announced with the next changes. We are sure that all of you will be interested in this reward. After these three posts, it is our aim to lower the workload for factions to maintain a forum thread. That is why we have lowered the requirement for the number of posts to be made to a minimum of one per week. This weekly post needs to be about what the faction has done during the week. Additionally, this post will only require pictures or screenshots to be posted; an underlying story is optional. Posts about individual members do not count towards the minimum of one post per week and are also optional. Many of you have opted to write your stories within a graphic design. However, moving forward, we will require these stories to be posted as plain text as well. This means that you can still use graphic designs to tell your stories, but all text needs to be posted as plain text under the post. This can be done in a "quote," or by placing text in a “spoiler” which will have less impact on the visual appearance of your post. The reason for this is that the text must be searchable by search engines through "full-text indexing." With this, we hope to attract more new players in the future. We will give everyone a month to create their new thread and have the original post and the three additional posts ready, and we are excited to see what you will create. The new guidelines can now be found on the forums via this link: https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/topic/157921-under-review-by-fm-3-guide-to-player-faction-threads/ Thank you, Eclipse Roleplay Faction Management

This would complicate matters for both factions, as they'd have to have to keep track off all their members to not order anything besides what would be allowed, and for staff who would have to continously check if these limitations are enforced correctly. Experience has shown us that this isn't as easy as it sounds for factions to enforce limitations without script support.
