tuccci Posted May 30, 2024 Report Posted May 30, 2024 It seems like the weather cycle never plays out fully unless it's the middle of the night with no admins on to interrupt it. It's super immersion-breaking to be in the middle of RP outdoors, and it just instantly and unrealistically dries up because someone "didn't feel like it should be raining" I don't understand how changing the weather and effectively the RP 100's of people on the server can be decided arbitrarily by whoever can change it. If the rain is so unpopular among the player base that it needs to be turned off as soon as an admin logs on and notices it- it should probably just be removed altogether. (I'm clearly biased because I grew up in a desert and love the rain) 3 1 Quote
Ash Posted May 30, 2024 Report Posted May 30, 2024 (edited) Agreed, this should only be changed if maybe an event is happening similar to how they set time to day or night. I also get when it’s full thunderstorm and you can’t hear anyone talking but I feel like that’s part of the rp (I’m clearly biased because I’m from the UK so I like to see my normal weather) Edited May 30, 2024 by Ash 1 Quote
Pazz Posted June 7, 2024 Report Posted June 7, 2024 Admins should not adjust the weather back to sunny just because it started raining. Only for events that require a certain kind of weather setting or for thunderstorms that are obnoxiously loud, and even then, those should only be adjusted if they last too long. Frankly put, it is extremely backward and forceful. Just because a senior administrator doesn't like the weather, you shouldn't get to decide that I don't like it either and don't get it on the server. I get that we're meant to be in Los Angeles, California, but it's part of the game, the atmosphere, and the roleplay. Stop forcing your personal weather preferences on me and other players who don't mind a little rain sometimes. 4 Quote
Quietthecutie Posted June 8, 2024 Report Posted June 8, 2024 in agreeance that admins should only change weather if an event requires it, for e.g lifting rain for the Formula 1 event or making it night for a car event. i havent really seen any admins change weather outside of these parameters. Mpache Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 From what I've gathered, some people have performance issues when it rains/storms so reports might be sent in (or spammed even) to turn it off, but that's really a skill issue since GTA is a 10+ year old game. I've personally experienced no performance issues with rains/storms but I haven't used a struggle bus PC in a very long time, so I'm severely biased towards the "rain is completely fine" side. +1 to weather being as natural as possible, but rain *does* sometimes last a little too long. Perhaps a review of how long each weather setting can last could do it some justice. Quote
Timmaayy Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 Weather is only changed if many players are experiencing performance issues or for an event. Usually, it is left to change naturally. I too, do not mind rain or thunderstorms! 1 Quote

Still think y’all should randomly give weazel (and/or other news agencies ) a heads up for bad or good weather at a rough time and then force it to be like that now and then. That’d be a pretty neat way to use that power Quote
Mpache Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 The weather system could be looked at for a more forecast-compatible system, it would add more immersion for sure, similar to how snow storms are announced leading up to the snow map! Agreed with Ash. Quote
SquirtleSquad Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 Personally, I love the rain. The weather is well done outside of being just always sunny. I remember when I first joined the server, over the course of a month and many, many hours of play, I saw rain like once or twice. I know this was adjusted to work correctly. I would ask for more rain, but that's being selfish While I am aware, and sympathize with players who experience physical ailments from the flashing lights, perhaps finding a way to de-intensify the lighting flashes, as well as reducing the sound, which iirc the latter can't be done, would be beneficial. astrx Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 I love all the weather, just not the difference in volume.. such a thunderstorms, not sure if there is a way to muffle this on the dev side of things as it would really help. 1 Quote
Eliza Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 I’d love a forecast system as others have said, would be pretty cool to have an incoming weather alert. Quote
