  1. +1 as long as it is scriptly limited to certain circumstances, so it cannot be abused and someone just holds X the entire time they are driving and it hides the /alias or name but not ID. Someone who is involved in a rule break situation while driving should still have their ID always visible so players can properly get the evidence they need for a report.
  2. I recently posted this else where as well, but I will post it here too for feedback from everyone else. I have an idea for fixing the suggestions area: Summary: Rework the forum suggestions in a way that is more streamlined and vetted by server staff to make the suggestions more meaningful and visual assessible for the developers and staff members. Purge the current suggestions area, more heavily moderate the new suggestions area, and server staff members place the top ranked suggestions into a spreadsheet. Note: I am aware that the suggestions area already has guidelines defined, so some of what I mention below may be a repeat of those guidelines, but no one seems to currently follow said guidelines, hence why this suggestion is being brought forth. Details: Currently, the ECRP suggestions area is a wasteland of suggestions that are years old at this point that just get overlooked and forgotten about after a few days of no one responding to them, just to be covered up with new suggestions, many times suggestions that have already been made numerous times in the past (Impound lot and phone rework, I am looking at you). In addition to this, individual suggestions get cluttered up with spam of simple +1's or -1's, many times with no real explanations as to how to improve upon the suggestions. If its not the spam of +1's, its commonly toxic or slanderous comments made about a group of players on the server (Crim vs LEO every other suggestion). This spam that is either pointless or turns into crazy arguments between groups of players often devalues or changes the focus of suggestions, and sometimes even results in them being closed altogether by server staff due to the toxicity that comes of it. Due to these issues, I recommend a rework of the suggestions & discussions sections of the forums. The start of this rework could be done a few different ways: We erase all open suggestions and start from scratch due to all the duplicates and long forgotten suggestion, and make an announcement that players should reopen a new suggestion should they still believe it would be beneficial and relevant. Sort through the current active suggestions and keep the ones that have been commented on within X number of days (I.e. keep suggestions that have been active within the past 90 days) Staff members could sort through the suggestions, and the most popular of them could be put into a spreadsheet or document of some kind to be noted down. (This one could be done in combination with the prior two ideas if we wanted) Once the current suggestions area is cleaned up, I recommend we "re-introduce" a new suggestions area as follows: The discussions section would be the defined area where these long debates between players can occur (as long as they aren't toxic of course) that are often occurring on forum suggestions currently. These debates and discussions can be used for players to discuss what issues they currently see within the server and can serve to assist in deciding what constructive and reasonable suggestions can be made. The suggestions section of the forum will be reserved for suggestions only. There should be a standard format for a suggestion with sections such as: How will this suggestion benefit the server and players? Does the suggestion require development or script changes? Who is the target audience of the suggestion? Here is the "newer" suggested part for the new suggestion area: Once a new suggestion has been made by a member of the community, it should be moderated by server staff members to ensure it is firstly posted within the guidelines and uses the proper format, and also stays on topic. Community members wishing to +1 or -1, will be required to use designated emotes on the original post and will not be allowed to simply +1 or -1 in the comments. The only comments that should be allowed are those that are suggested ways to POSITIVELY improve the suggestion. Negative comments, troll/toxic behavior, or off topic comments should be moderated and deleted. Once the suggestion is posted and begins receiving support from the community (if it does), perhaps server staff could maintain a spreadsheet or document where the top suggestions are rated based on community support and placed in order on said spreadsheet. (Example: Suggestion A gets 80 upvote emotes, suggestion B gets 20 upvotes, and suggestion C gets 50 upvotes. We take the title of the suggestion and place it in the spreadsheet in priority order, where Suggestion A is first on the sheet, Suggestion C is second, and Suggestion B is third.) This spreadsheet could provide an easy visualization for server staff and developers to assist in decision making for positive change in the community and would easily show what the most requested and supported suggestions by the community would be.
  3. This is already a thing. Cases submitted through IA can easily, and commonly do, lead to officer suspensions for misconduct where they are not allowed to clock on duty for x period of time, sometimes 24 hours, sometimes much more.
  4. Please update your bug report to use the proper format shown below: Date and time (provide timezone): Character name: Issue/bug you are reporting: Expected behavior: Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate: Vehicle license plate number*:
  5. Please edit your post to use the proper format shown below, and include any evidence you have: Date and time (provide timezone): Character name: Issue/bug you are reporting: Expected behavior: Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate: Vehicle license plate number*:
  6. The OP didn't mention what the actual suggestion is. You say that LEOs need more repercussions, but did not say what those should be. This feels more like a discussion topic rather than a suggestion. As Ash mentions above, I believe the existing repercussions for an LEO having to OOC reinstate can be quite impactful. I would ask @addybeta, even if what you were saying was true, regarding little to no repercussions for LEOs, why does that matter so much to you, and why does it make sense to compare that to criminal characters? When you make your character, and choose to either be legal or illegal with that character, you assume and accept all the consequences and choices that go along with that decision. I don't think it makes sense to compare the two. And if you do want to compare them, why does it make sense to say, Example A loses and is at a disadvantage, but Example B doesn't lose nearly as much. Suggested solution: Make Example B lose way more stuff to make it fair! Instead of this, why not suggest Example A lose less rather than trying to make Example B more miserable...
  7. The above response is partially correct. The best analogy I can think of for LEOs most often not responding is: If a criminal were to get notified over the radio by their allies that something important was about to happen, like organizing a drop, or pushing a lab with known rival gang members in it, you can either choose to go do those things to help your faction members, or you can choose to go to the beach and refill water bottles for cooking. Which would you choose? There are high priority things you do as a faction, and low priority things. If you are free and not doing anything else, sure go respond to the impound lot without any issue. If you are busy already, especially with something more important (or fun tbh), no one is going to voluntarily drop what they are doing and go to the impound right away. During peak hours, its busy most often and there are many calls coming in, or pursuits, etc. If its not peak hours, there are usually very few LEOs actually playing at that time, so its harder to get ahold of someone to go to impound. +1 to the suggestion though...its long overdue.
  8. Those should also be modified via the implemented script support then.
  9. I do not believe there are any hazards that roadworkers encounter that would require them to realistically need to RP a mask for protection. Its mostly cleaning up a wrecked car, or fallen tree, etc. While there are fires involved in some of these instances, an automated 911 call is generated to MD to have the fire department come deal with the fire, not the roadworkers.
  10. +1 the suggestion makes sense and we have the script of character effects to support it now. Have the taser add a modifier to the speed, strength and stress as mentioned so the character becomes weaker and weaker if they continuously get tased. As it stands now, there is nothing stopping a player from continuously running from a taser regardless of how many times they have been hit with it.
  11. +1 to only releasing it at a barely drivable state as mentioned by others above (between 350 - 450 vehicle durability). I also think that if a vehicle is below the 300 HP drivable threshold, then it should charge the owner something like $300 to get that repair to make it drivable as an extra money sink since repairs wouldn't be free and to avoid any potential abuse.
  12. The comments about it being IC is not relevant, just as comparing this to the impound lot suggestions is not relevant. If there was an actual "Roadworker Faction" in game, then yes, it would be IC, but there isn't. A roadworker company, or postal company would not allow their employees to be wearing a goofy mask while on the job. Since there is no IC entity to provide this policy, its done by the script instead. The comparison made to the impound suggestion or license suspension suggestion doesn't hold weight since there IS an IC group that regulates this policy that it can be taken to (LSPD or GOV). If you are a criminal that has pissed people off and created a threat for yourself and now you want to go do roadwork, then that's an IC consequence of your actions you need to deal with. You wouldn't go to your boss at a roadwork company and tell them "I pissed off the rival gang down the road and they wanna kidnap and kill me now, so please let me wear a mask on the job". If you want to avoid harassment from police, wearing a mask is a sure way to get harassed by the police...
  13. +1 to removing the range as its not needed and +1 to giving /goodRP and /badRP purpose.
  14. This may have been purposely changed for the drug status effect update due to wellness effects. There has to be fair tradeoffs to using the drugs to gain their positive status effects without being able to reduce the negative wellness effects for little to nothing.
  15. I personally think generic items such as windows, doors, floors, and walls be see the most benefit from a price decrease. If its a more specialized item, I think it makes since to leave the price a little higher. The foundational items that require a lot of for your DIY construction project is what breaks the bank in my opinion.
  16. agreed this isn't the fix to the root of the problem, but why does anyone doing freelance work need to be anonymous or keep their identity hidden? No reason to use a mask doing this type of work.
  17. I do not agree with the suggestion. While I agree that some thing should be allowed ICly to be dealt with ICly in the same terms, other things are, such as this, better for the realism of the server. We already have a problem in the server of everyone wearing a mask 24/7 that really is not immersive for RP purposes. In reality, you would never see construction or road working crews on the side of the road all masked up with ski masks or T-shirt masks to hide their identity. Same goes with any other freelance job on the server, whether that's burgershot workers, mechanics, coroners, etc. The one and only exception to this would be some kind of air filter or gas mask in extreme situations of construction or hazardous environments. I believe this is a step in the right direction to keep folks working a legal job more immersed and more realistic.
  18. Solo crims can chop cars by themselves. I have done it plenty on my criminal character. If you or someone else wants to start a chop shop business of some kind, there is nothing stopping you from ICly doing that.
  19. Truckers are different because people can do the job with their own truck instead of being forced to use the loaned out pounders. Your solution would be as simple as /cb everyone go to radio frequency 1050 for trucker radio. Or maybe leave an /fdo note at the truck job start area advertising a radio freq to use. Would take 10 seconds of effort.
  20. Unfortunately, short of RPing it, I think your options are limited. +1 to adding extra types of items for immersion, but I wouldn't get your hopes up of it happening.
  21. I get where you are coming from with the suggestion, but the same can be said for any number of things in scenarios where you have to type rather than voip. Its like in a hostage situation where you have your gun pointed at someone but have to type out your RP or talking with a negotiator. You have to stop to type and it lowers your weapon while you do it, but server rules still dictate that the player must be given the opportunity to type things out and that cannot be taken advantage of. If you choose to type things out in chat and people use that to their advantage and ignore your opportunity to RP, then simply report it as it would be against the rules. I don't feel adding macros or hotkeys for demands or any other quick text options is the correct answer, as each situation is unique and we would need an infinite number of different macros for text chat if that were the case.
  22. I have attempted to explain the reasoning behind the response. You seem to be very frustrated with police in the server over a few specific instances. If you want to understand why the police do what they do, I would encourage you to make a character and join one of the law enforcement factions to better understand the reasoning for their actions rather than blindly slander another faction.
  23. Sounds like the police were just doing their job as far as this "raid" goes. If there is a massive shootout amongst multiple groups at a property, wouldn't it make realistic sense that the police would secure the entire area as a crime scene and verify there is no evidence or further threat on the property? This is just speaking in terms of the reasoning for the so called "raid". As far as anyone being toxic or RPing unrealistically, such as taunting others or being rude, I am not sure if you are talking about police or criminals. If its criminals, thats just how it is...you should expect to get trash talked playing that side, and thats fine as long as its purely IC and no one is being OOCly toxic/rude. If you are referring to police, there are IC ways to deal with that, such as an IA report. If its OOC toxicity by any means, you can either /report or forum report, or submit an OOC IA report against them as well.
  24. All of the comments being made saying LEO's input is "dismissive" or unneeded because they are not impacted is untrue and not positive to discussion. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion; doesn't mean you have to like it or agree. Criminal jail time or license suspensions do in fact effect LEOs. The criminal activity that occurs on the server has a direct correlation to LEOs RP opps and response. In the same way that if we increased license suspension time to 4 OOC days, LEOs would likely sit around with nothing to do because there would be no criminal activity occurring, if the license suspension time was decreased to say 4 hours, then there would be a sharp increase in criminal activity as crims can get their cars back sooner, evade more often, etc. While you might say that this would be good for LEOs (in some ways it might be), it can also be negative. If license suspensions were dropped to a degree that LEOs were in pursuits non-stop for hours, number one it would get tiring and boring as hell, and number two it would decrease availability of police to do other tasks such as responding to 911 calls or, god forbid, respond to the impound. If the argument being made is "it has no impact on LEO and there is 0 downside to reducing the license suspension time", then why not just remove license suspensions all together? Why not get rid of prison altogether? Why even have LEO's? Let criminals just do what they want and have 0 consequence to their actions. Then they get to have 24/7 uptime with no OOC wait time. Hopefully you see where I am going with this. There needs to be a middle ground between the two. There has to be some consequence to criminals being caught. If you really want to perform criminal activities 24/7 with no consequence, I would recommend GTA online as a good solution. As I mentioned previously though, this is an IC suggestion. The reason I say that is, yes, the discussion includes OOC elements and has some OOC impact on players, but the same way that laws and jail time gets changes for your charges by the IC Government, license suspensions and suspension time is defined by the IC government. The only way you will see change here is to bring the suggestion IC.
  25. Just the same way that you say 60 minutes of jail time OOC is 60 months of jail time IC, its really the same for a license suspension. 1 Day of license suspension OOC would be like 1 year of license suspension IC. I know the scaling of the jail time and license suspension don't equal one another, but realistically, thats the concept. No one would have there license suspended for 1 day in reality. It would be suspended for a long period of time depending on the severity of the crime. Its only 1 day in the server due to balance concerns to ensure its not too long of an OOC punishment, just like jail time. The license suspension up until about a year ago actually used to be 2 OOC days, not 1, but it got lowered. Overall, the script does not prevent LEOs from releasing your vehicle from impound with a suspend license. It also doesn't force cops to suspend your license. All of this is IC policy driven. Your entire suggestion is actually more fitting to be IC and should be directed to PD leaders and the GOV Law Review Committee to change the laws.
