  1. The way you're looking at the dynamic between prisoner & guard here is way too black and white, where in reality if you look at the bigger picture and the consequences of your actions, it's extremely unrealistic to take a prison guard hostage in most cases. You're not evaluating Risk vs. Reward and the risk here outweighs the reward tenfold. When taking a guard hostage, you're risking your life for seemingly no reason. If you end up making it out of that situation alive, then you would have time added to your sentence that could equal out to realistically being 10+ more years behind bars. That's not to say you will never be able to take a prison guard hostage, but the rule is there to ensure there has been proper escalation for this type of action. 9 times out of 10, a guard just walks into a cell block and is immediately bombarded and fucked with, which isn't realistic to begin with. Your second point here is also based on escalation, as long as the scenario between you and whoever else is involved in this situation escalates properly to the point where you would have this response realistically, you can roleplay it out accordingly. These rules are here to stop people from making prison a complete mess of unrealistic fights and constant emergency situations.
  2. The amount of time and effort you've very visibly put into this suggestion is admirable. Even coming from the LEO side of the server, I can 100% agree that changes need to come to the crim side of the community, and quickly. Thanks for taking the time Bala! +1 for sure
  3. I appreciate the RP interactions we've had thus far. @Chris_, you're the homie & I hope BSB makes it as far as you want it to go. pls no kill me, i am the friendly neighborhood detective ;-;

    Salvation

    Keep up the active posts, folks! Looking good, I'm happy to see Salvation continuing to move forward.
  8. Homie what are you talking about? I think it goes without saying, but conversations like this are allowed as long as they remain constructive and only use factual information. To me, this is absolutely not what is happening here. I have been to countless situations where people are robbing banks with a "hostage" and everyone just assumes cops are dumb and don't actually do any investigative work while these scenes are going on. With those countless hostage situations, I can count how many times the hostage has been a legitimate hostage on one hand and still have fingers left. People are so quick to hop into /b when cops start to ignore the hostage. It's funny when a "Hostage" is verified to be a specific person, and that person is known to roll with the hostage takers. While I won't say how this happened to protect from metagaming, I will say that a few weeks ago a Bank Robbery was occurring at Chumash Bank with a hostage being held at gunpoint. Negotiations were underway, Officers legitimately brought a vehicle for the hostage takers to get away in, everything was being set up exactly how the hostage takers had requested only for me to find irrefutable evidence that the hostage was indeed not a hostage, and was a member of their crew. Due to this, Officers changed their tactics, stormed the building and arrested everyone - no one was injured and no shots were fired. Of course people immediately started with /b saying LSPD didn't care about the hostage, that we broke the rules, etc. etc. when in reality, they just don't know about the sheer amount of information we have due to our high standards when it comes to incident reports, etc. By the time this situation concluded, the "hostage" spent about 20 minutes in the interrogation room and admitted to his involvement in the crime, that he offered to be the hostage in this situation, and that they were all together. This happens way more than actual hostage situations. Now, if you're unhappy with people's in-character actions, take that frustration and handle it in character - there are processes in place for people to submit inquiries to the LSPD regarding misconduct.

    The Sirens

    Interesting idea, I look forward to see how this works out. Good luck!
  11. Correct, I do have POV. However, due to staff policies, I'm unable to show it as it has staff chat and reports visible. As for someone communicating in /b that a gun wasn't out, if you look closely at me (Tristan) in your POV, you will see that I was standing there normally where on my screen, I had an SMG out pointed at you the entire time. The individual communicating that in /b was letting me know I wasn't synced properly, and that I needed to quickly swap weapons so the weapon loaded properly. This is my screen: This is a screenshot from around the exact same time in your recording: As you can see, I was glitched and not showing a firearm to you or anyone else, therefore he alerted me in /b as it would not have been fair if I shot at you without a weapon being visible. Regardless, "I talked to other people and they side with me" is fine, but that really isn't a response that I would expect from someone trying to have a constructive conversation about Law Enforcement in-game. In reality, if you wanted to report this for whatever reason, you should have done so after the situation had concluded. Remember, not everything is as it seems, and in this case you can clearly see that. At the end of the day, I have a countless number of interactions with players throughout the community every single day, and a majority of them are positive - even if it's in a shootout or hostage situation. I do not believe you are making a fair point here, especially with a 3 minute clip of a 30 minute scenario but at the end of the day, it's your choice. As long as the conversation remains constructive feel free to continue talking but understand there are elements at play that you, as the hostage taker, are not privy to. Overall it was a pretty great situation.
  12. You're putting a lot of effort into generalizing two entire factions based on two scenarios you've been involved in. I can't speak for the first situation as I was not there, however I was there for the second situation. You only upload what appears to be the last 3 minutes of a situation that lasted for at least half an hour. This video provides barely any context to what actually was going on which is disappointing. The officer you had at gunpoint was complying with you, we followed your requests and it seemed like we had a pretty great RP situation overall until the very end. I personally do not believe in using /b mid RP as it complicates things, weapons are lowered, and ultimately can cause everything to be super confusing which you can see here. When you walked away from the Officer that you had at gunpoint, he was no longer under Fear RP as the firearm was no longer pointed at him. Instead, you turned and pointed your gun at another officer who had their gun trained on you which was the one using /b at the time. If you take a look at the server rules, you are still under Fear RP if an individual is typing because of GTA's mechanics and how you have to lower your firearm to type. This is what appears to be the confusing part for you and the other parties involved. That Officer had an SMG trained on you from the moment your hostage was turned over to us, even when you started to rotate your camera to now take that officer "hostage". In this situation, it's hard to tell based on your POV, but the officer wasn't under Fear RP because he had his firearm on you the entire time, regardless of where your original hostage was. You asked everyone on scene to save POV because you wanted to file a forum report, posts like these are posts that create false perceptions and ultimately become super destructive rather than constructive. You were adamant on everyone saving POV regardless of the other officers trying to explain things to you in /b, so I'm not sure why you would be unwilling to talk to them when you came here to have a discussion about their actions. At the end of the day, if you felt someone was breaking the rules, then you need to post a report so that way it can be looked at by staff members who can determine if it was wrong or right.
  13. If you believe a rule or rules have been broken, please post a forum report and staff members can take a look at it. I can understand the concerns that you have brought up. I do not believe that interactions with a handful of officers should be used to describe two factions. As stated above, there are rules in place about hostage situations and where robberies can take place. I'd like to recommend that you take a look at our community rules to ensure that you and your friend do not break any going forward.
  14. May 1st, 2021 LSPD Officers respond to a vehicle pursuit of a Black Warrener who fled from officers on a Traffic Stop. Initially, the suspect was only being arrested for Reckless Operation and ended up evading, crashing his vehicle which caused him to run on foot. He rounded a corner and as an officer was rounding the corner as well, the suspect punched the officer in the face. Luckily, no one was seriously injured.
  15. Currently, the way players take advantage of storage capacity within items such as crates, bags, and briefcases is pretty broken and extremely unrealistic. While I know this has been a problem for a while now, recently we've been seeing a lot more of drug labs exploding in people's houses or apartments. It's been highlighting a problem where people will store 20-30 bags / crates / briefcases inside of eachother which just seems super unrealistic and an easy way to hide items inside of eachother. Personally, I find it super unrealistic when I'm searching through a crate, only to find 30 more crates with crates inside of them, and then maybe getting to something with other materials inside. Overall, I understand why people do this, but I genuinely think there's a better way to handle this rather than encouraging people to store items inside of each other.

  17. Time doesn't stop when you are not on the server. If you were given a speeding ticket 4 days ago, the time you are offline still counts to when it is considered overdue.
  18. Hi, The staff team is comprised of community members who volunteer their free time to answer questions, moderate the server, and then also go through community applications. Recently, there's been a pretty significant influx of new players wanting to join the community so we've seen hundreds of applications coming in each day. We do our best to keep wait times down, but with 500+ applications at a time, it can take a little while for everyone to get their apps reviewed. Right now, we aim to keep it under 72 hours.
  19. Interesting opinion - can you explain why you don't think it would go well?
