  1. +1, it's frustrating that I have to spend ten minutes tiptoeing around a door just to find the right angle to get the text to pop up. It wouldn't even be that bad if they hadn't removed the old commands, either
  2. Tony Rizzo The Final Episode Al Romano. Brandon Fitz. Gauge Michaels. All former Rooks who were removed from the family for their own reasons, some more treacherous than others. And now here they were, standing inches from me. The meeting to determine the future leader of the Rooks had left Tony Rizzo concerned. He entirely accepted the fact that the war would have no chance of ending with Dmitri as leader. A change in leadership to open up the possibility of peace? Absolutely. If this were the terms of surrender, so be it. In his mind, it was a no brainer: make current underboss Dante Kalashnikov the boss, and delegate Dmitri to a High Command position. There’s likely no single person in the state of San Andreas who is more well known than Dante, whether good, bad, or simply just knowing who he is. Just one problem: Dante had been deported. The feds finally tracked him down, and sent him back home, and it would be at least a month before he was able to get back. This left the meeting to decide the new meeting vulnerable for a grave mistake to happen, and for vultures to step forward to finish what they started. * * * My Knife; Your Back Tony stood on the roof of an abandoned recycling plant, in a circle with Draven Vaspucci, Tyler Rogers, Rex Rogers, Lewis Pelletier, Alex Greco, and none other than the newly appointed boss of the Rooks: Gauge Michaels The man behind an attempted coup that left several former Rooks dead, known forever as traitors. Not even a day earlier, Tony had joked, that should Dmitri not give up his leadership for the good of the family, they would have to stage a coup. Now, standing on the roof of this building his words echoed in his head. Dmitri had refused to hand sensitive information over to Gauge, calling him “not a Rook.” Despite Jerzy Mceden being named as the secondary boss, Dmitri was smarter than that. And now here Tony stood, surrounded by commanding members of the family, discussing a plan to change how the family does business. They discussed instating a council of sorts, where High Command is all one rank, superseded by the bosses. No decision could be made without everyone’s approval, and should the boss go over the councils head, action would be taken. And as they spoke, the more Tony came to believe this was the way to save the Rooks. Despite his history, Gauge Michaels was well liked by other criminal families. And if this Rook council could truly prevent Gauge from running wild, maybe this really was the best option. With all of this said, they all agreed that this would be the future. But first, they had one favor to ask of Tony. “You’re the only one among us who Dmitri trusts. If you can get him alone, we can swoop in and take what we need to keep the family alive.” "And what exactly would that be?" “The illegal imports.” Ever since establishing contact with an overseas organization, the family had imported hundreds of thousands of dollars of illegal weaponry, making it one of their most lucrative business ventures yet. It was arguably the single reason the war was started. Not a matter of respect, but a matter of too many players at the table. To lose them in this crucial moment would prove devastating. Tony gave them two conditions for doing this. One, Dmitri would NOT be hurt, by torture or otherwise, and he would not be punished for his refusal to cooperate. Two, Tony would retain his position in the Rook High Command, and be given a seat on the council. Everyone agreed to the conditions, including Gauge himself. As they ended the meeting for the night, Tony thought about his decision, and wondered if what he was doing was right. What I’m doing is practically betrayal, against my own boss, my own friend. Images of his betrayal in Liberty City flashed through his mind. He shook the thoughts out of his head, reminding himself that the family would continue this way. * * * My Gun; Your Head The following day, he texted Dmitri, asking to meet him somewhere private to discuss a matter of money that Tony was owed. Dmitri agreed, and he informed Rex that the meeting would soon take place. When Dmitri arrived, he brought with him a guest, and Tony’s heart dropped into his stomach. John Corsetti, of the Ballas, had been discussing joining the side of the Rooks to fight in the war. Dmitri was holding true to his refusal to give up power to Gauge. Taking him aside, Tony started trying to convince Dmitri that Gauge could be the boss, with the proposed council keeping him in check. But Dmitri refused, and began to suspect Tony was up to something. At that moment, multiple vehicles came into the parking garage, surrounding Dmitri. “What the fuck is this?” Tony pulled his gun out of his jacket, but not pointing it at him. Casting his eyes downward, he solemnly spoke. “Dmitri, please, just get on the ground. It’ll be easier this way.” As Rex and Tyler came up, guns drawn, Tony turned to Gauge, and pointed to John Corsetti. “The leader of the Ballas, he was with Dmitri. For diplomacy’s sake let’s not hurt him either.” And with as little professional courtesy as possible, Rex began shouting at John to get on the ground. Immediately, Tony began to feel like this would not end well. After a lengthy interrogation, the insurrection had begun to get the information they needed. All the while, Tony refused to look Dmitri in the eyes, even putting his gun away. Rooks or not, Tony was doing the one thing he swore he’d never do: betray those close to him, ever again. All the while being reassured that this was the right thing to do. Tyler told Dmitri not to be surprised about this, that it was his own doing. “None of this really comes as a surprise, the only surprise here is Tony.” The pit in Tony's stomach only grew. By the end of it, they had the necessary IP addresses, and the information on how to retrieve new ones in the future. It was done. They let Dmitri go, as Tony gave one last pathetic attempt at apology. While they all drove away, Dmitri made one last call on the radio. “Long live the Rooks.” * * * The following days were awash with confusion and turmoil. The meetings with the Zetas and Triads to end the war had not resulted in the end of the war, simply a ceasefire. A ceasefire that WCA refused to uphold, and continued hitting Rooks. Eventually the ceasefire fell apart, and all groups continued attacking. Nobody knew who to trust, and though many attempted to establish order, it was useless. Tony tried endlessly for days to contact Gauge, but to no avail. Tyler and Rex were also difficult to reach, with nobody quite knowing what was going on. On top of this, the login information and IP address for the dark web that had previously worked, no longer worked. Another one wasn’t due to arrive for another month, and likely wouldn’t arrive in the same manner either. Someway, somehow, the plan had failed. This was the downfall. * * * March 13th, otherwise known as Friday the 13th Communications in Rook channels had gone dark. Jerzy Mceden also proved difficult to contact. Tony received a text from Leo Krasas, asking to buy guns. During the sale he noticed Leo having been dressed oddly, and similarly to some others standing nearby. Clearly not a Rook uniform. As he left, began to wonder just how many people had left the family. Tony saw he had a missed text from Jack Hawk. He heard about what Tony had done. And he was not pleased with him in the slightest. Tony responded, saying he did what he felt was right for the future of the family. Making his way to Mirror Park Gas, he spotted a familiar face: Rex and Tyler Rogers. Immediately, he began talking with them about the past few days, looking for some answers. What he got, didn’t make him happy either. He, Draven, and Tyler were all trying to join the Triads. Gauge, had left the city for good, once again. Whether it was because he had accomplished his goal of successfully breaking the Rooks apart, or frustration at the dark web login no longer working, was left for Tony to decide on his own. Either way, Tony had just unwittingly helped Gauge accomplish what he couldn’t back in winter. He had been turned, thinking he would be saving the Rooks. He did the opposite. It was because of him that everything fell apart. As the Rogers brothers drove off, Tony felt his entire world crashing down around him. He made the wrong choice, and paid dearly for it. He was now alone in this city, with nobody left to turn to. In a moment of defeat, he felt broken. He'd lost. He walked inside the store, and bought as much alcohol as he could carry. He drove home, and locked the door to his condo behind him. He went through his closet, and threw every Rook uniform he had in a box, and shoved them away underneath the bathroom sink. Staring at himself in the mirror, all Tony could feel was despair. Digging through his stash, he pulled out a bag of cocaine. Cutting a line of it on the living room table, he stared at it, and the bottles of alcohol he'd just bought. Everything he’d worked for was gone. All of his friends, all of his family, all of them gone. False pretenses and beliefs aside, there was no avoiding the truth. Tony Rizzo was a traitor. He hit the line, and it all went black.
  3. Back at it again with another crackhead idea So all over the map there's plenty of giant apartment buildings with no doors to the outside, making it useless with the current system of how houses work. We've already seen people doing rental RP by owning multiple properties and rply renting them out, so what if we help bolster this? What if you could own one of these buildings, and rent out the apartments inside? Based on how many windows there are (or whatever arbitrary number works), there could be that many empty rooms. Entry into these could be as simple as walking up to the door, pressing Y like normal, and using a menu that pops up to select which room you'd like to go to. If the door is locked, you can't get in, and if its unlocked you can. This can even be taken a step further by requiring a keycode at the front door, or some way of swiping your key (doing a terrible job explaining this but people who've lived in apartments know what I mean). Landlords won't be able to enter rented out rooms if they're locked, preventing the current issue with landlord RP where you just hope they don't decide to go through your stuff. For the landlord, they have access to a menu where they can set the rent, check tenants, and check when tenants are due to pay. Tenants themselves could have the scripted ability to pay the rent in their apartments, rply by leaving it in an envelope or something in the mailbox. That way, if the landlord and the tenant aren't online at the same time normally they won't suddenly lose their living arrangement because of some real life interruption. The money could be sent to salary too, making it "legitimized" and taxed. All apartments could be 1g's, or they could all be different based on location/building/etc. People want more player owned businesses with script support, well here's one. Feel free to completely tear this idea apart Some examples of the buildings:
  4. +1 please I'm so tired of the bank being the go-to spot on the server
  5. jesus yes please this, its so annoying to just be standing around and to see the MDC /ame come up, because nine times out of ten it just puts you on edge, even if you aren't doing anything wrong GOD yes thank you. Sure I play a criminal character, but I swear to god it happens constantly where I go in to get something to eat, and a cruiser just sits out front waiting to see what I do. Then when I go outside with food in hand it drives off, like come on
  6. Blackjack could potentially be set up like poker script wise, where you "sit down" at the table, but there's an addition: there's 5 player seats, and one dealer seat. That way player ran casinos can still exist, but have script support. I'm also a big fan of the idea to make poker (and potentially blackjack and roulette) tables purchasable in the furniture store, would be nice to have a friendly poker game at someones house. Or maybe even make a deck of cards purchasable at stores, and you have these commands: /shuffle: shuffle the deck, self explanatory /dealcards [ID] : deal cards to a player, maybe in addition add in a /dealcardsaccept
  7. Okay to start, let me be the first to say that I'm absolutely guilty of doing this, I'm not calling anyone out I'm just putting this here to see what others think. So there are certain sections of the forums that are counted as being in-character, most notably the real estate board. People usually refer to it as posting listings on a real estate website. Every now and then you see someone advertise a house, with one of the selling points being near a drug drop-off. It doesn't seem very realistic to outright say that, and besides, anyone who would be in the know about drug drop locations would keep that in mind when buying a house. I've seen people post certain things on the forums advertising illegal stuff, and on a few occasions cop players have responded (usually sarcastically) saying they'd be filing a PD report about this and they'd be coming for em. Now I don't know if anything actually came of that, but it'd certainly be interesting to use the IC part of the forums as an extension of the in-game internet, and if someone was posting (IC) threats or knowledge about illegal contraband, it could be brought to PD's attention.
  8. Literally every single thing you said is perfect imo, especially the part about one side having nothing to lose. Disbanding a group that isn't trying to be official *might* be a bit excessive, but only because the current official faction system is geared towards large gangs, and I can see some people wanting to have a small, tight-knit group of people for their gang. If they were able to be given something like a half-official status, then I'd be all for disbanding people who clearly just wanna stir ooc shit I literally just the other day had a shootout where I actually just decided I was gonna run away from it instead of continuing because I wasn't 100% sure I wasn't gonna get reported I guarantee every crim player has had that moment where a rival is driving really slowly near you, trying to get you to follow them. You could maybe outnumber them 10:1, but they'll still keep driving really slowly to make sure you follow them to wherever their friends are waiting to "ambush." There's no fear of getting shot for doing half the speed limit with rivals nearby, and you get left with the choice to either A. follow them into what is clearly an ambush (literally zero value for your life) or B. drive away and ignore them as they talk shit and try to bait you (non rp, why are you letting your enemies get away?), and clearly neither option is at all satisfying.
  9. +1 everything, especially the differential weapon connects. Same deal with drugs. Whatever the new criminal update does with drugs, I hope it encourages differentiating between the gangs. Maybe a system where an official faction discusses with the staff team on what makes the most sense thematically for them to import. I know the suggestions been made before
  10. +1 carjacking is so barebones, it could use a lot of work
  11. Winter Part 3: Gauge Michaels These stories serve as an expansion on three separate events that transpired over the course of a few days, changing the future of The Rooks forever. With at least two people left alive to tell Gauge he was in trouble, there wasn’t much time. Baron Steven Ruby had been working closely with Gauge in order to secure a number of properties in the small town of Paleto Bay. Together, they bought a fair number of them, most importantly of all: what was formerly known as the Irish Inn. A small hotel on a side street, both men had an equal share invested in it, however title deed ownership did not reflect that. Fearing that Gauge may try to swindle him out of both the property and his money, Steven forcefully took over full ownership of the inn, changing the locks throughout the entire building. It was likely when he tried to get in that he first thought something was wrong. Amidst a flood of texts and phone calls from Gauge trying to figure out what happened, Steven attempted to set up a meeting with him to, “give him a new set of keys.” As they did this, the family would be set up, ready for an ambush. It was likely when he agreed to the meeting that he thought something else might be wrong. A murder of Rooks sat a block away, ready to move the instant Gauge showed himself. But he never did. It was likely while he drove north that he realized his intentions were compromised. With the meeting called off, a statewide manhunt was initiated. Gauge’s contacts for buying weapons were told to cut him off, and anyone who might’ve seen him were interrogated. Every property and safehouse he was known to have ownership of were staked out, and every gas station had someone standing by looking for any of his vehicles. Steven kept up his act, trying to meet with him to discuss the inn. For a while, Gauge went dark. It wasn’t until a few hours later that he agreed to meet Steven, but with specific instructions. He was to meet an associate of Gauge’s at a neutral location, pick him up, then drive to another. He was to then drop them off, and pick another person up, repeating the process, driving circles around the city for ages. As Steven later recounted the story to everyone else, it was done to keep them from being tailed, and subsequently led to Gauge. The meeting between the two of them accomplished little to nothing, as Steven kept up his act about not knowing anything about a coup as instructed. Gauge wouldn’t have any of it however, and was driven off by one of his unknown associates. It wasn’t until Gauge contacted Duke Brandon Fitz that he would finally discuss the coup. He gave demands as to how he wanted the meeting to go. It would take place somewhere with enough security, surveillance, and police activity to practically guarantee Gauge’s safety, a practice looked down upon by the family. But with the decision to either listen to him speak or chase him forever, Brandon chose the former. Everyone else would stay far away; at the sight of a single Rook vehicle or outfit, Gauge would cancel the meeting. Instead, they took to hiding, staking out the scene. Duke Tyler Rogers took on the role of disguising himself as just a random bystander, and would stand by the pair, acting casually. After a while, Brandon came over the radio, and told everyone that if they wanted to, they could hear Gauge’s side of the story. They would meet in an alleyway and discuss things, though with what he had displayed that day, many had made up their minds. The conversation did nothing but to assure the suspicions of the family. The cowardice and deceit Gauge displayed that day had already proven his guilt. His "associates" that Steven encountered earlier in the day also proved that the coup could've involved an outside force, something that hadn't been accounted for. It also proved that he was ready to go to war as soon as the final word was spoken. With all laid bare, the Rooks departed from the alleyway, knowing that they would soon face another enemy. Gauge would soon lay dead in the snow, they swore it. For the family.
  12. Winter Part 2: Tanjiro Osaka These stories serve as an expansion on three separate events that transpired over the course of a few days, changing the future of The Rooks forever. After Ray Jensen was thrown off the crane, Dmitri confirmed to the entire family that the rest of the coup was identified, and that they would be dealing with them as need be. For the time being, however, the list of names would be kept a secret that only the high command knew, the exception being Gauge Michaels. The only non high command to know the names on the list was Enforcer Tony Rizzo. Soldier Peter Gowen had been out of the city for a long time. Upon returning to it, he was greeted with open arms and warm welcomes back into his family. Upon his arrival, he was told he needed to be filled in to the current events taking place in the city. Tanjiro Osaka met with him to discuss this, going over the war, the family's position on it, and most importantly the coup. Tony was heading out of Tequila-la, after kicking back with a drink and playing a couple hands of poker. Upon getting to his car, he got a call from Baron Ravyn Black. "Tony, I think we might have a problem." "You mean Gauge or another roadblock before we get to him?" "The latter." "Talk to me." "I was at the bank, when I happened to walk by Peter and Tanjiro talking. At first I didn't pay it much attention, but then I heard Tanjiro mention my name. He said that I was the one who confirmed the existence of the coup, something that nobody should know about except for the high command." Tony barely took a moment to put the pieces together. He wasted no time contacting Dmitri with this information, and an immediate meeting was called. Hours later, the family met. Peter was pulled aside, to be questioned by Dmitri, Dante, and Brandon. They asked him about what Tanjiro had said to him, and he listed it all without hesitation. All of it sounded good, except for the detail that Ravyn was the one who informed them of the coup. He told them that Tanjiro told him, and he didn't know it was confidential information. Tanjiro was brought forward in front of his family, and Dmitri asked for him to tell the rest anything he might have wanted to. After some initial leading to lessen the vagueness of the question, he confirmed that he had some information on the Gauge situation. Tanjiro was approached by Gauge on the coup, and he voted in favor of it. Tanjiro told everyone his story. He felt that Gauge could lead the Rooks to greatness, and it became clear that he thought of it in the best interest of the organization. It also helped that Gauge’s interests were in line with some of his own when it came to business to be done around the city. During his speech, he also laid out a few issues he had with the family, similar to Ray Jensen, believing that The Rooks should have joined the war against the council in defense of The Wanted. He was similar to Ray in another matter, in which he placed his own personal relationships and the business of other gangs above the interests of his own family. He continued on, talking about what he felt was a “disconnect” between the working ranks and the high command. He often didn’t hang around the high command, even lesser did he work with them. To this, he stood alone, as everyone voiced their feelings on this matter being the opposite. Tanjiro was unsure if he wanted to remain in The Rooks without his brother Ray, so the counterpoint of a parliament was brought up, as most decisions (minus major ones like declaration of war) were decided by a vote given to the entire family. After the vote went around Tanjiro was given the family’s blessing to stay with the belief that his concerns were in good faith and could be worked out. However, Tanjiro decided this would not be the case. Choosing to stand with Ray Jensen, he made his decision to leave, stating that he could not be a Rook without his friend. A solemn mood fell over the room, as everyone knew now what came next. Dmitri quickly grabbed him by the jacket and put him to the ground. He pulled out a long knife while grabbing the right arm of Tanjiro, currently donning the Rooks tattoo. "Brace him." Dmitri said coldly. Some stepped forward to hold down his limbs. The knife was freezing cold, tempered by the outside air blowing in through the shattered windows of the abandoned house. As it slid through Tanjiro’s arm however, it felt like fire. Having done this many times before, Dmitri efficiently flayed the skin off Tanjiro’s right arm, removing the tattoo and wiping out the last trace that he was ever a Rook. It was a painful process, made even worse by the fact that he was leaving by his own choice. In any other situation, everyone would be glad to watch them be stripped of their mark, exiled for actions against the family. But this time it was different, more disappointing than anything. By the time it was done, Tanjiro Osaka was left on the cold, rotting floor. The rest left, with a somber mood over each of them. They knew it was for the best, as if he would put his friendships over the family, they couldn’t have him around. This wouldn’t be the end of it, they still had a larger fish to fry. No halfway Rooks.
  13. Ah, alright, yeah that's definitely a good reason against it. I imagine coding a system that would track the movement of only the cash item would be difficult, but I'm not super familiar with it so I dunno.
  14. Understandable, but I don't actually know what rule breaks can be done with money, you mean like someone straight up using hacks or something?
  15. Winter Part 1: Ray Jensen These stories serve as an expansion on three separate events that transpired over the course of a few days, changing the future of The Rooks forever. The snow fell over San Andreas almost overnight, barely disturbing even the most restless of individuals. Amidst the calm tranquility of the snow covered fields of Grapeseed, one could almost imagine that all was right in the world, far away from the shouts and cries of Los Santos, and far away from the shots that rang out from The Wanted and The Council. Here, a meeting took place for The Rooks. Promotions were handed out, some long overdue and eagerly anticipated. Some came as a surprise. Such as the case with Tony Rizzo and his promotion to Enforcer. As Tony has come to know, promotions come with a reason. Hours later, he met with Duke Brandon Fitz, and Boss Dmitri Leroy, who informed him of some of the worst news possible. "Gauge Michaels has spoken to the Triads about joining them attempting to skip their early ranks. They brought this information to us, as they had no intention of letting anyone do that, much less if they had potential intentions to hurt the Rooks. However, unbeknownst to the Triads, in the event that he would not be welcome there, he has planned a coup of the Rooks. THAT information came from some loyal members that stepped forward after being approached to make a vote. We have the names of everyone who was present for this vote and what they voted for. Confirmed by now three people: Ravyn Black, Marcus Hunt, and well, Luke Fitz. Ravyn immediately told us, so there's our first source." It was then that Brandon let out a sigh. He appeared dejected, sadder than Tony had ever seen him. "On another bad note, Luke Fitz is sadly no longer with the family." They went on to explain that Luke had voted in favor of the coup, unlike Ravyn and Marcus who had voted against it. Luke's patience was at its end though apparently, as he just up and left, after going on a major rant on the radio frequency about all of his problems with how the family did business. He also made a point that he didn’t like the idea of sitting on the sidelines during the war, and wished to join it. "After he left, he did inform me of the coup, that's the second source." In contrast to Brandon's dejection, Dmitri was too bewildered to be sad. "It was honestly one of the strangest things I've ever seen, like it straight up came out of nowhere, as we were talking about going to do something he wanted to do in the first place." With now two different sources illustrating two halves of the same picture, they knew they had to work fast. As soon as Michaels caught wind that they knew, he would likely go into hiding, and punishing him would become very difficult. (image by Ravyn Black) The Next Day During a parliament of Rooks, called to evaluate the future of a potential Rook and finalize their recruitment, Dmitri paused the procedure for an announcement. A recruitment, that Gauge was coincidentally not in attendance of. He told the family of Gauge's plot, much to the shock of everyone. Dmitri then gave everyone a chance to come clean, to announce if they had been involved in this coup, and if they had, they may have a chance to climb down the ladder, rather than going down another way. He began counting down from eight, and if the guilty would not step forward, they would be thrown off, with no chance to explain themselves. The air was tense, as nobody spoke a word. "8...7...6...5...4...3...2...-" Ray Jensen stepped forward, announcing his involvement. Dmitri nodded, confirming the source that Ray was guilty. He was questioned intensely, as no trace of doubt could be left. He explained that he had intentions to leave The Rooks for a while, but had simply never found the right time to. When Gauge told him of his plot, he decided he'd go along with it, especially if it came with a spot in The Triads. He concluded by saying he didn't have faith in Gauge's ability to lead The Rooks anyways. "If you wanted to leave, that's fine. If you wanted to stage a coup because you felt it was the best option for the family, that's fine. But you want to burn down the house, and instead of building something new you want to leave it a ruined mess that the rest can't clean up." Dmitri's analogy landed successfully. Ray's position in the family was no more, that much was clear, but what wasn't as clear was the method Ray would descend back down to earth. Like many things in the family, it was put to a vote during parliament. It ended in a clear decision: he would be thrown off the crane with the failed recruit. Had Ray been a Rook, he would've flown.
  16. I swear I made a thread about this but I guess it was a fever dream or something. Basically what the title says, make money an inventory item. Right now if someone dies, any cash they had on them is just lost, which obviously doesn't make any sense. You could still use /pay to give it to someone rather than having to drop it on the ground *cough* trade system *cough*. Besides neat little things like putting money in a briefcase for criminals to hand over to someone for a purchase, this could serve an actual mechanical purpose down the line. There's been a number of money counterfeiting suggestions made, and a counterfeiter could make the item, but only to a professional (ie detectives) would they know it was fake money. If someone tried to put it in the bank, it'd be fraudulent, which could lead to investigation RP on where they got the fake bill from. This also prevents people from counterfeiting millions and getting rich from it, unless they pulled some sort of laundering scheme which could honestly be cool too.
  17. +1 Pitting is already restricted to cars that come stock with ram bars, which doesn't leave you a lot of opportunity to pit if the car you're chasing is just faster than you. Driving with a passenger doesn't help much either, since in a lot of cases slows down the car you're using for the reason of catching up with them
  18. +1 It'd also be nice if players who owned business properties could do something with the script to set up a "property inventory" and sell things from it. Because they can't import stuff like those who have dedicated businesses, convenience stores wouldn't drop in value, and people can do something more daily with their business besides planning parties and events at it.
