  1. OOC Corruption perms are incredibly rare for LEOs. like Moby Dick rare. You have to engage with high command, present a compelling RP story and argument for why you are going corrupt, and it almost always ends with your LEO getting fired, blacklisted and jailed. Even if you accomplish all that. there's hard limits on how many and who can be corrupt. These are always RP heavy, deep stories. usually well documented in media or forums. simply doing it because you wanted to stash some AKs on the side wouldnt cut it. they have to be incredibly detailed to the point they are almost prohibitive. All this to say that OOC corruption perms are so infrequent that I dont think they hold weight as a valid argument here. They are a special op, like prison break. you wouldnt balance a broad mechanic or rule around them.
  2. Going back to the original suggestion, its to discourage mass hoarding of guns and provide another money sink. unless you're sitting on a kings ransom of weaponry you never use, it doesn't affect you. If you are sitting on a weapons depot that would put North Korea to shame, then pay for it. system working exactly as intended.
  3. Why is it almost every suggestion comes with reasoning along the lines of "this is killing crim rp!!!" Its not. Crim RP is alive and well. Plenty of people enjoy it. Whilst any type of RP can be frustrating and by design getting beat as a crim hurts the hardest, Its also why the Ws feel so good also. no one complains about those. If you cant handle those swings, maybe crim RP isnt for you. But this sensationalist melodrama gets people no where.
  4. been here before, so ill just repeat what I said back then. FRP Rules are clear. No player is immune to the threat of death regardless of backstory. If someone is pointing a gun at you, point blank, shouldn't matter if they are dressed as a gangbanger, a cop, or a clown. a gun is a gun. one twitch of the finger and you're dead. Cop shootings happen all the time. If its your life on the line. you should do absolutely everything within your power to not get shot, that means being compliant. TLDR, Value your life.
  5. A drop in player count is inevitable as the streamer boom and lockdown ended coupled together with an ageing game. all servers took a hit. thats not indicative of a problem you are alleging. That is not what happened. perhaps you should stop making assumptions on other peoples experiences to suit your narrative and accept that plenty of people simply do not share your views. Is Crim RP Perfect? far from it. but i believe the issues to be more Social, rather than mechanical or economical. If youre the type of gamer who likes to grind crim for 10+ hours a day, fair play to you, but I wouldn't enjoy playing any role like that currently. for context on my LEO ive only been making min hours for the past month. sometimes not even that. Actually most of my times been spent on my DJ/Musician because again, fun ops to be had.
  6. Tbh heard this many times before. crim RP still keeps chugging on. must be doing something right... I Still play my crim, Was on her yesterday. Robbed some stores, got into a chase with PD, shot a cop, got beat, spent 2 hours in DOC, played some piano. It was nice. The biggest thing for me was switching my mental from "must make money" to "must have fun." and just shaping my actions around that instead. Money is nice and if i can make some, great. but I can also get by just fine without it. And i'm a happier gamer for it.
  7. Its worth noting that whilst crims might be making less money than in the past, the actual Mechanical gameplay of being a crim has (i think?) improved. -Caps on Prison time. -Reduction of licence suspensions. -addition of extremely meta vehicles like the LC, Niobe etc. -addition of radio/GPS jamming/hacking items. -ability to load vehicles/persons into trucks. -tackling mechanic. -addition of multiple other labs for variety. -New Drug mechanics and buffs with a variety of uses both in and out of combat. -New Weaponry -Its now far easier for less established groups to obtain weaponry. @Demonmit1 Has the right of it I think. The goalposts for what people think is fair/balanced constantly shift, we are never quite satisfied. we cant help ourselves. and if all these suggestions were magically implemented tomorrow, there would be new complaints next week. Finally, with regards to how much money a crim makes, maybe it is less than in the past, only been here 4 years so i dont have the complete story but what i will say is theres never been more ways for a crim to make money variety wise. and if you want to engage in street level criminal roleplay perhaps its better you dont get too much money too quick. keep on hustlin.
  8. There was an idea floating around a while ago of like a 3 charge maximum per arrest, which might go some way to addressing the argument of "no point being a peaceful crininal." Obviously if you involve yourself in a massive shootout that might well be 3 counts of attempted murder of a gov and a maximum sentance, but for lesser crimes it stops the entire lawbook getting hurled at you if even your most serious crime was nonviolent. This would be in Comparassion to what would be a fairly standard charge list of say " class 1, schedule 1, evading, operating a vehicle while under the infulence, driving without a licence, reckless endangerment, face concealment and resisting arrest." All of which could easily be applied to a crim for fleeing from the cops cus he has a pistol in his glove. To be clear, im not sure which side of the fence im on here, but its an idea to encourage people to not PVP 1000% if the time.
  9. Valid point. so many guns are underpowered, this is one of the reasons even small time crims foregoe cheaper options and instead just save up to AK or similar instead. like every other person. Guns like the PDW, which statistically should be extremely effective at 50M where most fights take place, are glorified pea shooters. you can magdump someone with one and a combination of high aimcone and low DPS means they will walk it off. why bother buying one at all when an AK is only like 8-10k more and actually reliable? This is just one example. Yeah, all the meta guns cost more than the tier 2 guns but not by nearly enough comparable to effectiveness. Id say buff tier 2 weaponry and make top tier guns more expensive to encourage variety.
  10. A mass unban will never happen. That would undermine the entire appeals system. If people wish to get unbanned, they may go through the system and submit an appeal. If they cant be arsed to do even that bare minimum, why should we unban them? Also some people, cheaters, ban evaders, DSO RWT etc should never be unbanned. They poison the server.
  11. Wonderful, then we are not asking for an across the board nerf, are we? we are asking for a cap. the post should be edited as such. Like i wouldn't be against a scaling down of speeds, particularly as 240 vehicles became more prominent. But i know alot of people would be by the logic of "if i paid for an OP vehicle i should have an OP vehicle." Which is what is is. And i would be for patching HSW mods because i defy anyone who has an HSW LC to tell me why they should own a vehicle that can do 240, and also brake swiftly and turn on a dime, and tell me how thats in any way balanced or true to lore. its plain and simple P2W
  12. finally, a comment that takes this into account. To be clear, im not for or against this suggestion, just if we are asking for an "across the board" nerf. thats what it would look like. take every vehicle in the citys top speed, and scale it down.
  13. right, heard but, did you hear me? an across the board nerf would mean every vehicle is slower. it wouldnt change the advantage sportscars have, merely slow all vehicles down. I mean lmao, this plays into what my previous post said, most people seem to be taking this suggestion as a rant against highspeed vehicles. i dont think that was OPs suggestion, and its not what im suggesting. read again, please.
  14. Right so can we decide if the suggestion is as the title suggests? an "ACROSS THE BOARD" speed nerf. that means everything would scale down. if a niobe could go 240 before, and now goes 200, then a vehicle that previously did 200 before, will now do 160. thats how an across the board nerf would work. therefore it would affect response times, not just for LEOs but for everyone, if youre a crim racing to back your buddies up you would also be affected. everyone in a road vehicle would traverse the map slower. If the suggestion was instead framed as "nerf highspeed vehicles like the niobe and drag" or as @addybeta references, nerfing HSW. then why does the title not say that lol. otherwise. thats a different conversation.
  15. First off, no one constantly uses HMGs. that is a wild statement. Typically of all the LEOs in either faction about a good 75% of them do not have access to any heavy weapon besides the pump shotgun. Of the remaining 25% less than half have access to anything except the shotgun or the standard SMG. of the remaining people, they must seek permission of a supervisor before deploying specialist weapons like the MG or the Sniper. I'd recommend you actually try playing LEO. It might give you a better perspective on things. Second off, this isnt Scribbr. Third off, as has been said MANY Times before. LEOs having heavies on their backs is necessary because at any moment, a crim can instantly equip AP and their own heavy of choice. this happens instantly though the glovebox mechanic. which is why LEOs cannot just unrack heavies for specific situations. they need to be able to react to this instant changing of the situation. If you wanted to have something like that considered, a timer for equipping items out of the glove box would have to be added with a /fme to show LEOs what is happening. either that or have it so heavy weapons can only be stored in the trunk of vehicles.
  16. This is really quite sweet. thankyou for a positive contribution. Its refreshing when people take to forums for something other than to blow off steam.
  17. sorry didnt mean you directly just the people speculating to you that 240 is too low.
  18. Skull Emoji. I suppose then its unsurprising that there's no real point to anything you're saying. simply the searing hot take: "PD bad." A lot of stuff you fed into whatever AI you used you are either making bold assumptions or are just flat out factually incorrect. Also, being here 6 months then generating a puff piece about reflecting on nuances staff have worked for years to find balance on is more than a little patronising. In general this post is just not a good look. It appears too narrow minded to be an informed opinion and too lazy to be properly expressed. Go home and try again, on your own this time.
  19. if you get up to 200 you are already bombing it. 220 is bombing it +1 etc. All of these caps are already flying unless youre on a freeway. I really dont think an increase is a good move imo.
  20. I mean i think we need to differentiate between a cap and a scale. The suggestion is for a rescale "across the board" so i believe OP is suggesting EVERYTHING gets slowed down, which, technically means no one vehicle is getting hit with a nerf. It would just mean chases, pursuits etc are easier for the uniniated to partake in as essientally everyone would have more reaction time. This would also have knock on effects such as slower response times etc. Again, depending on the situation, this could be good or bad for you. This should just make chases easier for all, which depending on how big a race jesus you are, makes things more accessible. Food for thought.
  21. On a side note its refreshing when the entire community can come out together and ask for a change. lets make this happen.
  22. not to be rude but do you have any evidence to show this happening? so far as I am aware, LEOs do not have the power to stack licence suspensions, or at least I have never seen it happen. there's a specific charge for operating without a drivers licence which I would enforce on situs like this. If a driver already has a licence suspended I have never seen them get another suspension. From my side this is simply not how it works. If it is, and you do, I would encourage you to contact LFM. I already believe 24 hours to be excessive and would hate to see any more but this is LEOs operating by FM and IC rules.
  23. I think, given the recent trucker update, to say the devs are neglecting civ side might be a touch ingenious. clearly they feel the same way and want to make more non faction jobs more interactive and worth doing. I hope they continue to revamp freelance jobs and it seems they want to, with fishing i think being next. With regards to other civ/non job related RP, really thats down to the community, who do alot with little to no script support. Theres the standard gigs, music nights etc which are common. but also other activities, ive been a part of golf events which were super fun, all done without script support. and also just like gamer nights where we meet up and play things like jackbox for fun or prizes. Ultimately this is a small server in the twilight of its years so, we have to make our peace with that an accept theres only so much devs can do with limited time and resources.
  24. Youre right but youre also wrong. cops do not need access to all these guns, which is why most of them do not. almost all cops will carry around nothing more than the shotgun and a sidearm, because that is all they are authorised to carry. The other guns you reference are carried around by either METRO or SED, both of which do have reason to carry them. they are specialist units. I would be absolutely fine with this assuming that its the case for everyone.
  25. The issue with this are guards are not detectives, or even cops. and moreover if this was a thing, it would be about a week before crims cottoned on and said no more than "freqs beat" over the payphone, which would ruin all the hard work that went into making it a thing. For something to be implemented for crims and actually be used, there needs to be a certain level of guarantee that its both worth it and reliable. as it stands this fails on both fronts. if someone just wants to let people know freqs comped, you can easily do that with your phonecall as you enter DOC already. if the phones could be tapped, Crims wouldnt risk saying more.
