Honest to goodness i would love to see a revamp to the new player experience. I remember those early days and i didnt have a clue what was going on either. There are certainly a lot of ways we could make the new player experience easier. but at the cost of development in what is the twilight years of a fairly niche server. That being said, there are a ton of guides and material available to the new player. all of which is outlined to them when they join the server, the forums, the discord. and the new player has to take a certain amount of responsibility for this too. if you are not willing to make the base amount of effort to grasp the fundamentals of the server and more importantly embrace the "find out ic." nature of the server, perhaps the server simply isnt for you. you should not be spoonfed. im a big fan of quality over quantity and honestly i dont feel like rping with someone who willfully decides to remain ignorant through their own actions. make the effort. On the other points, I have a long history of supporting shorter licence suspensions, that hasnt changed. the map markers to my knowledge are left deliberately ambiguous to encourage players to explore and find out for themselves in game either through checking them out or interacting with people. it almost forces interaction, which is good. makes the server feel more alive. and fulfilling jobs come with taking out full time jobs with civilian factions. freelance jobs were always intended to be either stopgap jobs or for quick easy cash without having to wait for a weekly payday.

-1 -Theres hourly support payments for the downbad so no ones ever broke for long. -Prices are set as they should be, by the owner of the business. if the price is too high for you, move onto another store. -Taxes suck, thats not a complaint thats a fact of life. 35% tax for higher brackets is pretty spot on. The reason we make money is to spend it to live and keep making money and then save some on the side. you should feel the money coming in and going out thats an indication the economy is working as intended.

You realise by implementing this, you would lose your ability to disconnect and take a new order?

How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
Fucking window dressing. You dont actually care about stx/scout vs other cruiser variety or we would stopped the discussion there and youd be happy. Now we are talking about targeting LEO jugulars for the sake of a future chase and this is where you lose my support because realistically, for coverage in an entire state there would be dozens of HISU vehicles available. Pick a lane. If your concern is regarding hotswapping then a simple rule of "no pulling out the same vehicle twice in a pursuit." Would do. What youre asking for has not a hope of being implemented because as i said, certain vehicles are the only way LEOs can react to certain crimes. Dudes in a niobe and all we have left are scouts? Lemme wave merrily as they dust on by. -

Valid point, Also its worth noting that the only high tier vehicle you could target is really a jugular (im gonna leave a shinobi out of the conversation for now as ramming a bike solely to try to total it is an entirely different shit stew i dont wanna get into right now.) Criminals have access to any number of high speed, or specialised vehicles right off the rip. their advantage lies in being able to pick and choose how and when an altercation with cops occurs. you can start with as many Jugs, issis, LCs, Paragons, Niobes and other insanely powerful crap as you like so long as you are willing to pay for it. LEOs on the other hand, really only have the jug air and shinobis all of which will typically have to be pulled from a station after a situation has started. already giving crims a massive head start. Perceived LEO advantage does not come from overpowered vehicles. it comes from coordination. the fact that LEOs respond in numbers to a callout, have procedure and communicate well. it has nothing to do with how powerful their vehicles are as 80-90% of vehicles in any given chase are scouts and buffalos, which are mid tier pursuit vehicles and easily outclassed by others most LEOs cannot deploy. As I said, my inital support for the idea was to prevent hotswapping and hold LEOs more accountable for the condition of their vehicles, it was not to paint a target on highspeeds so that when the boys played their trump card there would be nothing LEOs could do about it. that is a stupid idea. -
Looking back on this, -1 on an overall cap. just fucking fix HSW thats whats thrown everything outa whack.

I feel like we are asking for too much, too fast here. the talk of crims baiting "high tier" i.e scouts and STXs (lol, high tier.) out in one chase only so they can do higher level crime already smacks alot of ruleplaying more than anything. lets settle down. I like the original concept. I dont like the idea of every chase now being a potential appetiser to higher level crime, and suddenly cops having to conserve forever incase theres a bigger shit stew around the corner. my original support was on the contingent that it would be limited to each individual chase and organisations could not chain them to their own ends, which would be again, ruleplaying/nrp. Lets maybe run the idea of trialling a base level of the nerf before suddenly going full ham. -
oh well then 10-6 my last pepe. just ignore the dude.
-
It does, but the effort required to report and monitor is isnt worth the very minor infraction and would probably just give them the attention they are seeking. its more elegant to just ignore them unless they commit a crime worth pursuing. Proving cop baiting for just evading is incredibly difficult as theres 1001 different excuses they could give for it.

Welcome to the server! Hope you brought queso.

The reason you currently cannot pull particularly weapons out of a bag without dropping it is partially a balance decision. Youll notice that unless youre pulling it from a trunk, glovebox, bag or other storage item all weapons will sit proudly on your hip or back. This is to stop people more or less insta drawing their weapon as you described without any warning or indication which when you think about it, would be very broken. That said i would be open to a bag inventory with an /ame and a delay when pulling weapons. Bigger weapons, longer wait time with the /ame floating over them so rply everyone can see you pulling say, a shotgun out of your bag. That way you get all the QoL of a bag in inventory but people cant just cheese hands people with no recourse.

Honestly theres a person who i wont name but if youre in SD by god youll know who im on about. And most days when they are bored all they will do is sit on their drag in bayview, bait a chase, floor it down senora, and unless we already have HSIU out and close there is nothing we can do. We will lose them normally at water treatment, even with air, after about 10 minutes when we have dropped response hes merrily bombing it back to bayview to repeat. Theres no chase in this chase, no skill he just gaps us with a vehicle we cannot spike and cannot keep up with unless we keep someone on permanent standby in a jug which is not something anyone wants to do. It gets to the point where the whole department just has an unwritten rule to ignore him as its a waste of time and resources.

I like some of these ideas, but i dont think they are currently something we have the development capability to implement. For context, The only minigames the server currently has is the circular skillcheck one, and casino games. The casino update was a herculan effort. Easily one of the biggest updates to hit the server, unfortunately its not really used all that much right now. The ideas of pinball, billiards, golf etc....it feels like alot of work and our dev team isnt exactly huge...I heard through the grapevine that they are working on making new skillcheck minigames but i think thats all you can hope for in the short to medium term. With scripted restaurants...theres alot of barriers there too. Multiple layers of development and even then the most popular order in burgershot currently is fries and a water. I know bala has some excellent ideas for that but when it comes to more food establishments, the truth is the city dosent need more of them. 2 scripted restaurants in the state and then all the vending machines and stores you can buy food out of too. Now, people do own private restruants, pubs, bars, clubs, all kinds of places. But its very much a "make your own RP, dont rely on script" type deal. But youll often see them advertised and they can be fun experiences, but the sad truth is most of them operate at a loss. People work jobs so they can afford to run events out of their private businesses I like the idea of the gun range you can use so long as you hold any kind of legal gun licence. It would probably have to be instanced, to stop people abusing it, but it could be fun and yes indeed bring more people into what is probably the least profitable scripted business you can own.

How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
In a stunning turn of events, I a person who plays more LEO than crim these days, actually like the sound of the idea. I like that its a nerf to hotswapping, i like that itll force LEOs to be more careful in pursuit lines, i like that itll encourage some use of patrol vehicles besides the STX and the scout. For me the only thing im not sure on is the timer. Anything longer than 30 minutes dosent really make sense as this is on the longer side of most pursuits and i dont think the penalty should carry over from one pursuit to another as to be fair, the end of a purauit normally involves boxing or sometimes a pit and its natural your cruiser might take a bonking. You could honestly just write it into the rules that you can only use one of each vehicle for a single pursuit, and the pursuit has to be over for like 15 mins before you can pull again. -
Nice touch at the end to keep the crim v leo pitchforks away That said I agree with everything you say.
-
this was my thinking. and honestly either way you wanna slice it, to scale or a flat limit i think it would be bad for the server. If its a flat limit, Demon said it very well. the cop vs crim argument is unavoidable. If its a scaled nerf, as in all cars get nerfed in line with the lowering of the limit, I think that would actually be worse. I think it would make all chases and journeys around the map alot more boring. going 200+ in a city chase is the point where even the most experienced drivers start going "ok this is a bit risky." and thats where people crash, stall, flip, and the chase can be ended. if everyones going alot slower than they currently are, chases would go on alot longer and be alot more boring.
-
So hang on, do you want all vehicles speed lowered to scale? Like a 240 vehicle would now do 200 and a 200 vehicle would now do 160? Im trying to figure out the logic.
-
Honestly yeah, if this were to be added it would be fair game for police investigations. The same way currently investigators can check through radio binds and listen in. It would actually be a nerf to crims. What would be better would be the ability to send a text to multiple people. Would make freqs easier to send. Or just use the emails system.

I have heard through the grapevine that at least for scripted uniforms in jobs, the ability to remove headwear again is being developed. this is great for longer haired people in MD/SD/PD/DOC who currently look silly in certain uniforms.
-
Im fairly certain its a bug and not intentional. one could go so far as saying kicking a car to total it is NRP. realistically even if you took a baseball bat to a car the best youre gonna do is mess up the bodywork the internals would still be fine. i would like to see that fixed, along with the sugar glass windows, but im fairly certain this is a limitation otherwise it would have been fixed many moons ago.

More weed farms/bring back more drugs
Quietthecutie replied to Smoke1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
sorry i added a quick edit down the bottom there. as i said im not against it but what we are asking for is a flat out buff. and im fine with that. Personally im ok with more weed spawn locations, when private labs got removed, nothing was added back in to fill that hole in crim economy, yeah more labs were added but they are on a rotation so its less more content and more just more locations for a change of scenery. But I would rather if crim got buffed it would be by adding a totally new mechanic, instead of just buffing an existing one, which is more lazy and less fun because honestly labs and drug production are already done to death and whilst its a charming idea that smaller orgs and solo crims will benefit, there's no rule that says the bigger orgs cant just roll more labs in their rotation. this was the initial hope of the lab rotation, that smaller orgs would benefit. hasn't really went that way. I would rather a new mechanic which is actually easily open to smalls and solos was developed. like chopping or house robberies. the ATM theft mechanic that was added is hitting the right notes but in its current format 9/10 atm thefts end in getting beat. -
More weed farms/bring back more drugs
Quietthecutie replied to Smoke1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
Yeah im not against it at all i just wanna make sure thats what we are asking for, for more plants to spawn in more locations on the map, which will increase the abundance and availability of all drugs, which should by the laws of economics, lower the sell price for all drugs which use sweet mary jane as a base ingredient. Or should we just increase the ammount of MJ available with no negative consequences? -
More weed farms/bring back more drugs
Quietthecutie replied to Smoke1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
alright great so the suggestion is to divide the existing weed spawns between more locations so the current spots will have plant spawns taken away. im all for that.
