License suspension and how they could improve
Quietthecutie replied to EimaTrG's topic in Game Suggestions
The counterpoint for this is a well travelled one, which is that ultimately ECRP isnt a democracy. Devteam has the final say on things like this. and because there is a script problem at play it ultimately isnt something that can be resolved IC either, because they would need to refer it back to the Devteam to review aniways. TLDR we can make opinions known on forums and sure, chime in icly, its a balance/script issue at heart. -
License suspension and how they could improve
Quietthecutie replied to EimaTrG's topic in Game Suggestions
I refuse to believe we do not have the capability to change the system so its in hours instead of days. thats a copium response. -
I agree that the tackle mechanic should have some way to resist...slimchance skill check like cuff resisting cus atm theres no real way to counterplay it besides "dont get tackled." which is not great for immersion. many a person can slip or overpower a tackle if they know its coming, which is where the skillcheck would come in. Buuuut, all that is suggesting a change to the tackle mechanic, right now we are just educating how the mechanic currently works in practice and how its not bait.

New minigame / practice game within DOC.
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Criminal Suggestions
honestly im down for anything to be added to DOC at this time. it is AFK simulator 2024 also its not hard to find skillcheck simulators for other games in your browser. so idk why we cant just have them in game. https://www.mistersyms.com/tools/gitgud/ -
License suspension and how they could improve
Quietthecutie replied to EimaTrG's topic in Game Suggestions
Just let VIP change the suspension time to 12/6/3 hours. More income for the server, better experience for crims, everyone wins. -
you missed the glory days, back when tackling was introduced burgershot was basically the NFL. people flinging themselves at everyone lol. Its calmed down alot now but some people still clown with it. if they do, take appropriate action

Every situation is different, Based on escalation, location, time of day, number of witnesses etc. while we can give you general advice on rules and how they work in practice, ultimately you are responsible for your characters actions. you should use good judgement and always ask the question " Does this make RP sense for my character to do?" Going by the number of posts you've put onto forums you are not a new player and thus, this should be something you are used to. Focusing specifically on the tackle mechanic, we have given you the rundown. IC actions, IC consequences. its now up to you to decide what path your character takes, weather its a rule break, and how to deal with it.
-
Its probably a good idea for you to read up on NRP and DM rules, and you should always take responsibility for your own knowledge as "this person told me on forums it was ok" is a poor excuse for your own actions. But so long as you can frame your reasoning correctly yes -If a person is tackling me for no reason and I do not know them or have spoken to them, that's NRP because its not realistic for a total stranger to physically assault you. Usually a quick /pm to them to let you know you dont appriciate it and to please stop is enough but if they persist, report. -If a person tackles me over some kind of alleged beef or as an escalation on smack talk or some other minor interaction, they have then escalated the situation, which gives you the right to escalate it back within reason. your escalation would seem alot more reasonable if you came back with a bat or a knife and attempted to blindside him than going fucking postal with an AK. but yeah, the most basic escalation framework is verbal Assault>Physical Assault>Guns.
-
Its not bait in the same way someone striking your character isnt bait. its the same thing, a physical assault. so long as they have a reason to do it, its valid. if its someone you have no prior interaction with, its NRP. simple as that. If your character takes issue with it and wishes to escalate either through further violence or something else like calling the cops/backup thats IC actions having IC consequences and a perfectly valid response. hit him back, shoot him, run away, deal with it how you please but it is not bait.

How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
Okay so lets get to the brunt of it because i dont wanna go around and around in an endless circlejerk. what do you actually want. what changes would you like to see. who would be responsible for it? Lets be specific because honestly this argument has been going around for years in one form or another. And that's not to say you haven't presented a good argument. you have. but as is so often common on forums the lens of the argument has ballooned significantly since the beginning. so i just want OP to bring it back on point. What are we actually asking for. is it doable, and who would see to it? -

None of these vehicles are really the main gripe of this suggestion, which is i believe based around shinobis and jugulars being hotswapped. again, lets clarifiy what this suggestion is asking for. -
How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
basically this, whilst not wanna get into "find out ic" territory, the amount of LEOs who can actually pull these vehicles is way smaller than most non LEOs believe. you have to pass numerous promotions and trainings to do this. This is why OPs argument might not quite ring true for me, cus honestly alot of the time we cant even pull a second vehicle for lack of persons authorised to drive it... -
How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
If thats correct and we only have 2 of each, first off we are heavily underfunded for covering an entire state, and secondly then you are absolutely correct, hotswapping should be banned and a timer should be immediately introduced to reflect this. -
How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
What they are talking about is the ability to pull out only 2 jugs and 2 shinobis at any given time. this dosent mean the department only has 2 of each in their depots. This is an important distinction i think needs clarified. the difference between ooc/ic regulations within LEO departments and what is the realistic facts of how these departments should work. again, realistically, both departments would have several of each type of vehicle, Tarvs, brickades, shinobis, jugulars, whatever. the depots for both departments would have several of these vehicles standing by. but Rply we can only have 2 out at any given time and at least in SD, only deployed with clear reasoning and authorisation. In brief, in the current ruleset, we can only deploy 2 of each currently, but theres nothing in the ruleset that says these are the ONLY vehicles of this type we possess. as spizor has frequently referenced, rply we have more in storage. this is what squirtle is talking about, and they are correct. If you have any evidence to the contrary, please share it because i certainly have never seen it. -
How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
Ok so this argument has 2 prongs then, the "realistic" argument. and the "gameplay" argument. Tackling the Realistic argument first: The LSSD is modelled after the LASD. The LSPD is modelled after the LAPD. so looking at scale on a REALLY busy night LEOs have maybe 20-25 officers on watch and maybe 20 units or so (thats 20 cars on the road. which is again, generous.) Both factions would realistically have their own mechanic services and vehicle storage on or near their precinct buildings. dozens of mechanics maintaining and repairing hundreds of cruisers to maintain a presence in metropolitan and state jurisdictions in a well patrolled and well funded state which LS absolutely is. So from a realism standpoint, is it ok for LEOs to drive into a station and swap out battered cruisers for fresh ones? Yes. an argument could be made that they should have to radio dispatch to do so and maybe complete some paperwork after but there's nothing wrong with this realistically. they would 100% have the ability to do this. all this change would do would increase the already large amount of paperwork LEOs have to complete after an incident.} But of course this argument has two sides. do you feel its realistic that most criminals drive around in high end sports motorcycles, military off road vehicles and supercars? this never gets raised in this argument or handwaved as "necessary for the function of the server." If that's necessary then LEOs ability to pull vehicles 100% is. -
This. the job was reworked exactly how people asked it to be reworked and it works fine. problem now is almost people are desensitised to not expect a coroner to be on. any further incentives just elude to metagaming on where shootouts are and other information which isnt great. only thing i could suggest is a certain ammount of NPC work to keep coroners around

I mean this has been a discussion for 3 years its probably fair to say this ship has sailed but still there are alot of suggestions here that might be worth trialling. The question is how? The alias system is so old and such a core part of the server even tweaking it would be a massive deal. Like the UI/U menu update we are still hearing shit about that.

Phone Features - Sort Contacts / Favorites / Ping Location
Quietthecutie replied to Toxine's topic in Game Suggestions
I think a phone update in general has been on the cards. this, other QoL additions and new features please. Make the phone actually worth using instead of a less efficient, trackable radio. -
Entire re-work of farming & cooking and supply chains
Quietthecutie replied to Jay Plague's topic in Civilian Suggestions
+1 Its unfortunate that development wise, Part time jobs have always been seen as filler jobs in terms of their gameplay which is almost always just, go to a place and do some skillchecks until your pockets are full then drop it off. would love to see it get more attention. -
In fairness if I tell you not to think about elephants then engage you in a conversation about elephants....youre gonna find it hard not to think about elephants. . .

Just gonna pop a quick side note in here that the lack of RP/immersion is by no means entirely on PD/LEOs. With alot of criminals the best type of RP you can get outa of them is "broken legs" and "able." people headglitch, people metagame, people do things that make practically 0 sense RPly. just last night i had someone roll up to me on my LEO and just casually say "hey, i have a gun." on what planet does that make sense? None of these things are entirely OK and LEOs are certainly not blameless but its important to acknowledge that the decline in good RP is not just from LEOs its from the community at large. Good RP can and does happen on all sides but also very poor, disappointing RP too.

How to make Law Enforcement Vehicles Fair and Balanced
Quietthecutie replied to Demonmit1's topic in Implemented Suggestions
I agree with the Idea in principle. but its important to remember crims do this as much as LEOs. the gripe seems to be with LEOs not having to pay for each vehicle they pull out but then again have you ever seen a police depot? there are dozens, in bigger precincts, hundreds of cruisers waiting to be deployed. from a gameplay perspective I can understand the desire for some kind of cap when it comes to individual chases but not a hard timer. -
not just the kammy, but multiple other vehicles including the scout have this issue. basically anything with a fat ass.

If you cant understand how having an ID system where you can quickly and easily spot and review identities in replays or live gameplay is important to the smooth running of the reports system then I dont really wanna go into more detail besides they tried running without IDs in the past and it was a shitshow.
