Add other faction /badges

Recommended Posts

Add more faction membership proof / information.

  • Civilian: /showlicense or /license ## = Shows Drivers License

ID / License are the only identifiers that would naturally be carried with an individual, the following may or may not be carried at all times, per choice of the player.

  • Government Faction: /showbadge or /badge ## = Showing Government Badge (already exists)
  • Civilian Faction: /showcard or /card ## = Shows a 'business card' or information card of membership.
  • Criminal Faction: /showsymbol or /symbol ## = Shows a sign, symbol or patch, displaying membership.

I think this is a really cool idea for businesses and other civilians to show a "business card" for for that I give a +1.

For criminals I would have to say -1/or withold. The reason being not all criminals will want a tangible tie to the fact that they are a criminal and further if I wanted to show a signal, a tattoo, etc I could do so using /do command instead of a new command needing to be coded in.

This is only receiving +1 from me if its implemented for all civilians who have a registered business on the government forum and not only official civilian factions.

When criminals receive an official faction status, they receive few IC perks which make sense. They made their presence known in the city , so they are contacted by a big force for shipments.

When it comes to civilian factions, they don't and shouldn't receive any perks that impact RP. Biggest perks of being civilian faction is the prestige and having the F4 menu to which you can assign your properties too so everyone in your faction can access it ( Same can be done for non official, by giving each person permission, tedious, but its still doable).

There is no reason that only an official civilian faction would have access to something like this that would be RPly available to everyone.

This is a good idea. However, I'd make it so you could /showlicense Driver ID or /showlicense Weapon ID etc. So that you wouldn't see all of them.

Half the server or more metagame the /license command and will know that you have a firearms license, medical license, etc. when the only thing you are exhibiting RPly is a driver's license.

The badge for all factions is also cool if RP-ed realistically.

Your 'licenses' are all your licenses.

IRL, when you show your driver's license, and you own a concealed carry license and you are carrying, you also show that at the same time. This is common practice, in most states,

Every state has a Occupational / Professional Licensing Department and they require you to carry your professional licensing on you at all times, else you could lose it. This includes every license from medical to professional level contractors and more. Some states licensed EMTs have markings on their licenses indicating their field.

How is this 'metagamed'/abused?

This is the prime example of how it is being abused. You roleplay showing the driver's license and when the whole list pops up, the mechanic sees you don't have a firearms license/permit. With the latest wave of new players, the new government workers that are under 50k XP rely a lot on the script and aren't experienced with server rules, RP standards and the way the server operates. Other than that I don't know how realistic is for a mechanic to leave his work aside to rat someone with a gun, which should not be his focus while working on cars.

Leaving mechanics aside, I thought about an easy and realistic fix for this which would be simply adding more commands.

What we have right now: /license ID -> show all licenses

Simple additions: /DLICENSE ID -> only show driver's license
/TLICENSE ID -> only show trucker's license
/FLICENSE ID -> only show firearms permit
/WLICENSE ID -> only show weapons license
/MLICENSE ID -> only show the license related to BLS course

/PLICENSE ID -> only show pilot license (if available in the future)
/CLICENSE ID -> only show capitan license (if available in the future)

Licenses also have a number (when you do /suspendlicense, even if it's not accurate at all) so an alternative that also works would be /LICENSE # ID.

With something like this not only we would have more realism but also less metagaming.

Badges/cards would also be a great addition to show affiliation with a certain faction. Maybe make it so a legal faction has to pay to have them?
It is however quite questionable because the RP of faking your membership to deceive someone exists and the script would remove this kind of RP.

It isn't just your driver's license you are showing, it's your identification, which on how this server works would show all your licenses. Not sure how it works in the US, but for the sake of it, it does make sense that when you show your ID it would be marked with the different types of licenses, such as driver and trucker', pf and medical, there is no need to be carrying around every single license on a different card.

There's no reason to split licenses up. Especially other driving licenses. These are designated as 'endorsements' anyway and would be part of your standard licensing.

It's partially understandable to split the /cwp (concealed weapon permit) kind of licensing.

Either way, this suggestion, being under factions, is focused on creating a /badge like display, to show proof you exist in a faction...

Business cards would have names, but tats or symbols, probably wouldn't.. could just say "<Player ID/Name (if known)> shows you their <Faction Name> Symbol"
