Cars to stay on map longer after logout or random car spawns.

Recommended Posts

Currently there is a big imbalance when it comes to vehicles. Cars despawn after just 2 hours or people park them in NCZs permanently. There is very little opportunity for people to picklock vehicles either for criminal use or to chop them. Finding a vehicle that is not in a NCZ sometimes seems like a jackpot.

Please increase the timer on vehicles to somewhere around 6 hours before they despawn or have a list of vehicles that randomly spawn around the map that can be picklocked and hotwired.

Overall it'll definitely add to people's experiences.

Personally I would prefer having random lower- and middle range cars spawn throughout multiple locations in the city. For most people that play on regular graphics the frames drop a lot on places where there are a lot of people/vehicles. Increasing the timer will only increase the problem drastically.

Good suggestion!

Huh, I really like this. Support to both ideas. +2

Vehicles can spawn in designated locations, but this would cause these areas to be camped regularly.

They could also be completely RNG XYZ fashion with a raycast to properly identify driving surfaces like roads, grass or dirt (not rooftops or water) and verify they're not spawning too close to players or on top of other cars.. These cars would be classed as 'scrap cars' without registrations and their chop shop value could be slightly little lower then an owned car of the same value. Spawning could be as often or rare as hunting locations seem to be and there could be a limit of how many are inworld at one time.

Here's a list of vehicles ranging between $0-$100

We could easily do this without much need for a script to determine surface, area etc. Just need something like /savecord for mods and up, we go around the map and pick spawn points, they're all thrown in as coordinates and just have the script pick a random cord from the list, we could have thousands of possible spawn points easily and quickly

While the car despawn timer being lowered was done to try and control the clutter, inevitably a vehicle spawns in anothers spot and the cars end up littering the streets, like at LSPD.

Also, less vehicles left idle makes it a lot harder for criminals to steal them which is another area that criminals have lost out.

Big +1 especially for random car spawns.

I would think perhaps making underused car parks (such as piers actual parking lot) have random vehicle spawns would not only decrease the frustration and somewhat unrealistic rates at which cars can be stolen when they're left anywhere other than right beside you or at an NCZ but also increase immersion as these seemingly barren spots around the city will begin to fill with vehicles and make things feel just a touch more lived in. It's also as you mention, a big boost for crim RP, especially those just starting out as they have more options available to them other than running aimlessly and hoping for a jackpot.

Considering that chop shops were changed after the despawn timers were introduced before the turfs, now random cars will likely be handled a lot more by criminals/leos/mechanics, as chops are always active and there are multiple of them across the map, and active towing will be more frequent from NCZs (as long as tow trucks are working).

+1 on just removing the timers.
