A chance encounter with the boss of the local Yakuza led to a meeting of opportunity, however. Within a few short hours of meeting his new brothers and sisters, it was time to get some work in. "Sure better than delivering mail!" Tyr chuckled counting the cool couple G's just a few minutes "work" put in his pocket. A few short jobs and a quick getaway. A man could get used to this life. 8BitBento Posted October 14, 2019 Author Report Share Posted October 14, 2019 (Short setup for this one sadly.) The family's numbers were exploding far faster than Kihara was truly prepared for. His brain felt fried from doing paperwork at the bank all morning, making sure his family was set up to conduct business as smoothly as possible. It had been a stressful time trying to take care of business, and the paperwork was piling up quite a bit. But luckily the family was growing, and business would be starting soon, filling their pockets well enough. There were plenty of new prospect coming forward about the family as well, asking Kihara for as much information as possible, and three new members were pulled into the fold, with even more filling Kihara's phone. (Kihara and Cleo meeting Cage and Tyr to induct them) It was still blowing the young man's mind, and it brought to attention who was spreading their name like wildfire, but it was a nice change of pace from his lonely life of grinding out a living before. Scoutt Posted October 14, 2019 Report Share Posted October 14, 2019 (edited) After commiting a crime that went south and being jailed for it, Jordan Past decided to leave town for a few months but once he got back in town he contacted one of his only friends, Cleo, after Jordan texted Cleo she told him about a family he could join, after Jordan met the man in charge, Ringo. Jordan decided to have some fun speeding with a bike he "borrowed", but he forgot about the speed cameras around the city. After having taken a corner to wide, and nearly hit a sherrif, he pulled Jordan over. After the sherrif searched Jordan he found nothing illegal, but Jordan went to jail for 20 days because he had two reckless operations of a vehicle, luckily he has a team of lawyers that reduced the sentence by a few days. It was a good start to the morning with two new recruits to chat to and welcome them into the family. Along with the new family members Cleo and the others waited until dark to start work. They were out of luck at lumber, it looked as if it was raided by the police, they gathered a few plants that were left behind and moved onto the next lab where they met two guys, they approached with caution not knowing who else could be lurking, they seemed friendly enough and they let them know we were only there to work and not cause trouble. For Cleo it was nice to see everyone working as a team helping one and other out with ingredients and such, While awaiting a shipment of supplies spirits were high, maybe from the fumes, Cleo couldn't help but smile to herself while watching the others mess around, life is too short to be too serious. Lining up sorting out funds and just gathering together to make sure everyone was ok and counted for. Gathering together as one was an incredible moment, finally felt like things were falling into place, they were noticed by others, more people are aware of their existence. A new morning and new welcomed family member. My next meal?" After the demand for her number she gave him her last name as she didn't want the masked man to know her first. He became more demanding and ordered her to his car, she refused, he kept pestering her, she asked one of the family members, Chad, to help. As much as she loves playing cat and mouse this guy was annoying her. As Chad got involved more of the family came to realise there was a problem. The more the family got involved the more persistent the guy became. It got to the point that it was obvious the guy wasn't going to leave her or the family alone. They had a plan....lure him. They lured him to a location, when they turned up Cleo noticed a familiar face, an innocent taxi driver. Cleo drove up to the taxi driver knowing she didn't want any witnesses, the taxi driver happily greeted her, Cleo whispered "Move away from here for your own safety". The taxi driver soon left. Time to teach this guy some respect. The family shot him in the legs to stop him from getting away, the injured guy lay helpless on the floor. Cleo sat on him and cut his shirt open, by now she couldn't wait to dig her knife into him. ... The Russians were causing discord within the family, and a few members stepped away for their own reasons. Things were shaky within the business, even more-so within the family. But Kihara was finally back, and first step was to get tax sorted, then to smooth things back out and keep moving forward. A few rough days wouldn't stop business, and there was plenty to be done. Sorry this one was so small, hoping to get more in here soon and get the ball back on track. Been too quiet from us as of late. Their numbers were low and funds were lower. But as always, the family held on, Kihara doing all he could to keep smiles on faces and spirits as high as the rooftops of their city. There were certainly fun times to be had working with some of the guys, but business was looming, and needed to be taken care of. The men worked for days on end to get tax money for the Council ready, and luckily managed to pool it together in time to get them all paid out early. With that done Kihara could look at properties again, hoping to finally find a home for his family to rest at and work from. Little Seoul seemed the best area, but finding a useable property was a nightmare. It would be simply nose to the grindstone as always for a while, while the family worked to build their funds and numbers back. Even so.. Kihara's life took leaps and bounds, and it seemed to have fallen in around him in so many more ways than just business. But the man kept it hidden in behind his usual professional demeanor, and the smile of their masks helped to shield him from needing to fake a smile of his own.. Yet as always, He stayed moving forward. ((I was hoping to get more in here as far as screenshots go but apparently him fishing was the only one that would fit. So..... Yeah.)) If I can manage it we stay neutral with everyone. Just like our Real world Homeland counterparts we're businessmen first and foremost, and we'd like to be able to run business with everyone. I personally adore the Triads I've met, they're a super big influence and inspiration for how I've tried to model the family. Thanks for the kind words though! 8BitBento Posted November 2, 2019 Author Report Share Posted November 2, 2019 A morning of fun and relaxation took a turn. Kihara was contacted by the West Coast Assassins, requesting a meeting. Not one to upset the higher ups of the city, Kihara agreed and met them for a small meeting. The WCA gave his family an ultimatum. 24 hours, the heads of 2 Russians, or things wouldn't be good. Rumors had started to circulate that the Ikigai-Gumi were befriending and joining Russians, and the simple thought made Kihara's skin crawl. He agreed to their demands, but as he thought it over, it was logistically impossible.. The family wasn't nearly strong enough after their recent strife to manage the demands of the WCA, and so Kihara sat and thought, talking with friends and trying to de-stress. The final decision was to put the Yakuza underground. To disband for time being and simply try and build up some kind of stability in their lives. But the day would come again when they would attempt to find their place. And business would be good again. ((Big props to the WCA, they were a ton of fun to meet even if it was short, and for now it's been a good run but the Yakuza are taking a short hiatus! We need to step back and actually smooth out all the issues we have both IC and OOC before we try and add any more onto it. It wouldn't be easy, and he didn't have nearly enough time, power, or money to make it work out as smoothly. But he was determined, and at this point it was the only life he knew. And so he sat, and he thought. This time around, they would need to be firm in their ideals. The Ikigai-Gumi were a business organization. Yes there were murders, yes there were drugs and guns and car parts lying in their wake, but it should have all been for business, not just simple pleasure. Everything had to have a reason, and events had made that point foggy in the minds of his family. So the loose ends that didn't mesh well were snipped, and some unraveled on their own. At the end of it Kihara was down to a single thread.. Himself. But no matter what had gone sour for his family, what business had gone wrong, and what rumours had circulated about them...
