  1. Eclipse Community, December is upon us! December is a wonderful time of the year because this time of the year is a special time to show others you care. Players come together and show one another love and how they value each other. We as Server Staff cherish this period, as we get to see a surge of players coming together, holiday furniture going up, and events dropping in. Like the previous two years, the weather of San Andreas is drastically changing, our map will be covered in snow and the temperatures will be reduced significantly. Last year, the December weather change proved to be a great success - the feedback from our community, and the way they adapted to the new seasonal roleplay was fantastic. This year, we come better prepared! Like last year, we'll be implementing temporary rules revolving around the weather, you can find them here: In addition to the snow rules, All NPCs around the city have been dressed up in various holiday themed clothing. Furthermore, we're also proud that our Event Team has expanded onto the forums https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/forum/150-event-team/ which comes in good time for this period. If you'd like to see a new or even old event take place during December, then make sure that you submit an event suggestion in this new forum section, because the Event Team plans on having a lively and exciting December with many event prizes. Let's have a fun December together!

  3. Date and time (provide timezone): 28/NOV/2021 Character name: Samuel Osborn Issue/bug you are reporting: Police Stingers are not working properly. Although it initially works as intended, the spiked vehicle's tires reinflates quickly and proceeds as if nothing had happened. Police Stingers are essential to PD/SD for pursuits to avoid them having to resort to other controversial tactics to end a pursuit. This is especially an issue with vehicles that handle well for the few seconds it is spiked. Expected behavior: When a car drives over a police stinger, their tires should remain spiked and not reinflate themselves shortly after. Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate: Obtain a Police Stinger Place the Stinger Drive over Stinger Vehicle license plate number*: N/A

    Snow Rules

Overview These rules are in effect during the period in which Eclipse Roleplay has snow enabled on the server which is normally in December to early January. The goal with these rules is to enforce semi-realistic behavior to maximize immersion during this period. Violations of these rules will be reviewed under our Non-Roleplay general rule. 1. General Roleplay Environment Players are expected to wear appropriate clothing for the snowy weather. In the event that a player wishes to roleplay e.g. a mental condition, this will be taken into consideration should it be put under staff review. During the snow period, snowballs can be gathered from the ground. When the snow period ends, players are expected to put them away or remove them from their inventories. Each situation will be reviewed and dealt with as case by case basis by staff, the examples above are not precise and there could be realistic context to someone's actions. Punishment: Anything from a warning, admin jail, to an indefinite ban, punished under Non-Roleplay (NRP). 2. Vehicle Environment Non-Off Road Bikes should be stored in a garage/parking lot/mors insurance during the snow period, players that must travel to these locations must do so but should do so at a slow speed. Non-Off Road Vehicles should have appropriate tires applied to them or be stored in a garage/parking lot/mors insurance during the snow period. This does not apply to faction vehicles as those tires can't be changed by mechanics. Players are expected to drive according to weather conditions, which means that they should not be going around at speed cap constantly. Each situation will be reviewed and dealt with as case by case basis by staff, the examples above are not precise and there could be realistic context to someone's actions. Punishment: Anything from a warning, admin jail, to an indefinite ban, punished under Non-Roleplay (NRP).
  5. Hey, what clarity do you seek? The announcement aims to address the way players build, not the amount of furniture that is used. Edit: As for drug tables, I don't think it's reasonable to set a script limitation, instead, we'd rather ask that players make use of the space that is given to them, and to not utilize the furniture system to create unrealistic builds in order to maximize space.
  6. For clarifications, reference to: Added under 8. Metagaming Players should not intentionally base their actions and/or words based on how another player sounds, as their voice may not reflect their character. For example, a male character with a female voice does not automatically mean they are a trans man or vice versa. Removed under 14. Deathmatching Players may not kill victims who have complied with a plausible demand in reasonable time unless involved in severe hostile activity against them or an ally within 3 hours. Changed under 15. Player Theft, Prison Breakout, and Kidnapping OLD: Robberies should be conducted in a realistic manner with reasonable in-character motive using secluded areas. Players should not conduct minor robberies in situations with high risk. Desert or forest areas are considered secluded but witnesses should still be considered. NEW: Robberies should be conducted in a realistic manner with a reasonable in-character motive. Location, time of day, and realistic population should all be considered prior to a robbery. Players should not conduct minor robberies in situations with high risk. Players should consider the risk vs reward of the robbery and utilize secluded areas where necessary to avoid witnesses. 7. CHANGES TO DEATHMATCHING, ROBBERY & KIDNAPPING RULES, PRISON CAP, AND MORE! Eclipse Community, I hope that you've had a great weekend. Recently, we sat down and reviewed feedback and suggestions regarding some aspects of our server rules and game server, and we've decided to make some changes. We hope that you can understand that there is a lot of feedback given to us through various channels (mostly server suggestions), while a lot of this feedback is great, some may not exceed the vision that we have for our community. We're going to do our best to revive a suggestions team that will work on actively providing staff feedback on suggested changes, whether it's related to the script, rules, or anything else. Nevertheless, we'll continue reviewing feedback after this and dedicate more time towards making adjustments where adjustments may be needed. Deathmatching Rules The environment of Eclipse Roleplay has changed quite a bit over the past few years, many of our rules with limitations has been to tackle rampant issues. For deathmatching specifically, the act of killing on sight was extremely common and created a heavy burden on staff who had to spend countless hours investigating whether interaction and escalation were proper. To combat the constant kill on sight, which in our eyes did not at the time benefit to healthy roleplay, we added a line to our deathmatching rules that gave players a 3-hour window in which they could harm a victim regardless if they complied with demands or not. Of course, the factors of escalation and interaction were still required. We've come to understand that this 3-hour window is extremely tight and limiting, especially for our gangs who technically, per the rules, couldn't harm a snitch as long as they complied with their demands and the 3-hour window was passed. So we've decided to remove this line from our deathmatching rule, which will allow, for example, long-lasting feuds to come to a potential end, or for gang snitches to potentially meet their demise. It's very important that we as a community do not take this as an opportunity to go back to the past. We don't want to see action roleplay spike drastically, we still want proper roleplay among our members regardless if criminal or not. We emphasize the continued need for proper escalation and interaction. To help our community understand this change; Deathmatching IS for example: Demands (typed or spoken) are given to a player upon the player exiting their vehicle, and then immediately shooting at the player when they retreat back into their vehicle to try and escape. In this scenario, the only interaction between these players are the demands, and no other interaction, there is also no proper reason for the hostile act. Deathmatching IS NOT for example: Two opposing gang leaders trash-talking one another continuously over the course of the week, making back and forth threats. One gang leader orders their members to rob and cut the hair of the opposing gang any chance they can get. After the span of a week of endless robberies, the other gang leader confirms this robbery order during an interaction with the opposing gang leader. He then encourages his members to kidnap the gang leader where they torture and kill him. The example above is not kill on sight nor is it clearance to attack somebody for minuscule actions such as trash talking. The example highlights confirmed escalating conflict over the span of numerous weeks, with the absence of NLR. Escalation, motive, and interaction, all valid in nature and confirmed, are what is required per Deathmatching rules. In the scenario, there is an absence of the typically aimed firearm and issued demands and instead extended roleplay development taking place. This scenario also shows that 3 hours, as noted above, is arbitrary in terms of escalating conflict resolution via violence. If this change for any reason starts devolving our roleplay environment, we may have to look at potentially changing it further to add limitations. However, we hope that this won't be the case and that our members, especially our veteran members, can lead by example and become ambassadors of good roleplay. The subclause marked in red has been removed. Kidnapping and Robbery Rules Our kidnapping rules have always been quite strict and limited behind our deathmatching rule. The intention with this was to ensure that there's 1) Adequate reason to kidnap someone, 2) Kidnappings aren't unrealistically frequent 3) It was our belief that with the strict requirements, a proper kidnapping would turn into a lengthy and good roleplay scenario. However, we've recently reviewed our kidnapping rule and decided that we're going to loosen the limitations on it because we understand that the current rule limits potentially good roleplay that players may have wanted to carry out. Now, you will be allowed to kidnap or hold other players hostage within the context of reasonable escalation. We'll be requiring that the escalation and reasoning for kidnapping are properly documented and that it can be presented to server staff when/if asked for it. When we say "reasonable escalation", it means that kidnappings should not be random, and the roleplay should escalate to a point where kidnapping makes sense. For example, Ballas finds out that one of their members has struck a deal with Jason Steel from the Police Department, in exchange for details on the gang and their operations, the gang member will receive a lesser prison sentence. This is reasonable escalation for a kidnapping to take place. The other stipulations for kidnapping a player will remain as it, for example, you will still be required to have deathmatching rights on a player that you kidnap, in order for you to harm them. And if you intend on taking a hostage and involve the police, you may only do so once a week. Old: New: Furthermore, we've also made a slight adjustment to our robbery rule. This again is an attempt to try and stop limiting potentially good roleplay. Previously, our robbery rule focused on only allowing robberies in "secluded areas", but we're removing this limitation. Our goal is not to go back to how it was in the past, but we see the need to loosen the limitation for scenarios in which a robbery in a non-secluded area could make sense. It's important to understand that location, time of day, risk & reward, and realistic population, are all factors that should be taken into consideration when committing a robbery. Scripted Job Locations & Job Drop-Offs will still be considered as areas that are realistically populated, and are such covered by the rules "[..]and realistic population should all be considered[..]" Old: New: We understand that we're quite vague when we say "reasonable escalation" or "reasonable in-character motive". It's our intention to not unnecessarily dictate players on how they should carry out a roleplay scenario, we would much rather for roleplay scenarios to be as natural as possible. With that being said, the changes to our kidnapping and robbery rules will be a trial for us as much as it will be for the community. If we fail to see this change being positive for the community later down the road, we may revert it. Ethnic & LGBT+ Slurs & Harassment based on a player's voice. Eclipse Roleplay does not tolerate or support racism and derogatory terminology whatsoever and the usage of these is heavily moderated In-Character. We may not have communicated this properly, but back on August 30th, 2020, BallinByNature made an announcement to address that using racial slurs such as the N-word with the hard R is considered disgusting roleplay and requires consent from players before it can be used. Many of our players, including staff, misunderstood this and interpreted that it was fine to use racial slurs and that the affected party had to tell them to stop. This was not however the case, and we've made that clear now by adding it directly into our server rules. After we published our server rules changelog, we took in feedback from players and staff alike and decided to change it slightly. While the initial focus was on racial slurs, it was later decided that we'd change it and include all derogatory ethnical and LGBT+ related slurs. We believe in the freedom of character development but we also understand that many come on our server to escape the reality of the real world. Because of this, we do not want players to be affected by something that they're not interested in, and because of that, are strictly forbidding the usage of ethnic and LGBT+ slurs without consent from parties involved in the roleplay. "What good roleplay can come out of this?" Our imagination is for groups to freely socially roleplay among themselves in seclusion, for example, although this may come out as a generalization, we don't want to limit what a "redneck" themed gang say among themselves when they are e.g. inside of their house and socializing with one another, they are all playing a character much like an actor on a movie set. While this rule doesn't STOP someone from throwing out ethnic and/or LGBT+ related slurs, it's NOT ALLOWED In-Character without explicit consent. Players who go around and use these derogatory slurs without consent, and where the roleplay makes no sense to do so, will receive more harsh punishments moving forward. The usage of ethnic and/or LGBT+ related slurs remains strictly forbidden Out of Character, and can, depending on the context and severity, result in a permanent ban from our community. Furthermore, to make it more clear, we're also going to be clarifying that targeting a player with slurs/harassment of any kind based on how they sound like will be considered as not only metagaming but depending on severity, can also result in a Disrupting Server Operations and/or Not here to RP punishment. As much as we encourage players to adopt a voice to their character, not everyone can - and we don't want to limit someone with, for example, a manly voice, to roleplay being a woman or vice-versa. "Players should not intentionally base their actions and/or words based on how another player sounds, as their voice may not reflect their character. For example, a male character with a female voice does not automatically mean they are a trans man or vice versa." has been added under 8. Metagaming. Prison Cap Prison times and prison cap is something that has been actively discussed in the community for a very long time, more so after that we removed the prison cap. Previously, a long time ago, we had a prison cap of 120 minutes. The problem with the 120 minutes prison cap is that this encouraged players who already had committed a long list of crimes, to go "all-out" as it wouldn't increase their time neither affect them financially that much. With the removal of our prison cap, we decided to reduce the time for all individual criminal charges. For example, murder went from 240 minutes to 90 minutes, and we instead, increased the fines associated with all individual criminal charges. We wanted, and still want, prison to be a deterrent to constant action roleplay, and for the prison to function as something that provides proper consequences for a character's actions. If a character commits a crime, for example, robbery, we want them to evaluate whether it makes roleplay sense and whether it's worth it for them to want to shoot at the Police Officer who might potentially show up, or whether it's worth it to get into a car and try to evade. We don't want something to be done entirely because the moment brings joy and excitement out of character. However, we have recognized the need to cap our prison times. While this will not affect the vast majority, we understand that some of our players have received lengthy prison sentences, some more regular than others. While their time reflects on their actions, we're at a point where we understand that perhaps spending over 10 hours in prison regularly isn't good. So, we plan on re-introducing a prison cap at two different levels, If your character is able to pay the fines associated with the charges given to you, then you will at maximum only be able to receive a 5 hours prison sentence. This can however be extended if you commit crimes within the prison itself. If your character is not able to pay the fines associated, your cap will be 8 hours instead. Fines will not be capped, so please don't go all out knowing that you may be at the time cap! This cap may or may not be removed in the future, or adjusted further. Perhaps we'll work something in with the Judicial Branch in the future, whenever they feel ready to start accepting more cases than charge appeals. To accommodate this change, there will also be some minor adjustments to the penal code. We've decided to eliminate petty jail time charges where the transport to jail would take longer than your sentence. By eliminating, I do not mean completely removing. If it made sense, then we've removed the jail time and instead kept it as a Misdemeanor Fine, but if it did not make sense to lower the jail time, we've instead increased it by 5-10 minutes. We'll also be reducing license suspensions from 2 days (48 hours) to 1 day (24 hours). These changes, with more details, will be announced In Character through a Government Press Release. Again, this is a planned and upcoming change, it's not live on the server at this moment, but it will be coming very soon. Prison Rules We've worked together with the Department of Corrections leadership and taken in feedback on prominent issues that the prison is facing in regards to poor roleplay and rule violations. Together with said leadership, we've created "Prison Rules" which are not new rules by themselves, but just further and more in-depth clarifications that highlight issues that the prison environment is facing. You can find these rules here: The prison environment is important to us, and we understand that it has issues that we're working to resolve. It's important to remember that just because you get sent to prison, the roleplay should not stop. Going to prison because of what your character has done is still a part of the roleplay that you either created or inserted yourself into. We think it's important that our community members understand that we expect the same quality of roleplay inside of the prison, that we do outside. Building Rules - Addressing unrealistic usage of furniture to maximize drug lab profits. After discussions among the staff team, it has been decided that we no longer want to allow players to create “double floors” or raised platforms to cover all the furniture within an apartment or house for the sole purpose of maximizing their drug manufacturing income. Players should use the space available to them to do their cooking. Having these builds with the intention of having a ridiculous number of tables will be considered unrealistic. We understand that many of our players are creative and create amazing apartments/houses by utilizing the space they are given. We will not disallow players to reshape their apartments/houses for the purpose of aesthetics, instead, we encourage creativity! Here are a few examples of the builds that we'll be cracking down on: We encourage our friendly neighborhood drug manufacturers to move their operations into a warehouse and/or property. Obtaining a property will be easier soon through the San Andreas State Government's property request program. More about that can be found out In Character by contacting the government and/or visiting their website (https://gov.eclipse-rp.net). We hope to soon release a building guide that aims to introduce new and existing interior decorators to what we consider as realistic building, to avoid having to tear structures down. Los Santos Sewers & Train Tunnels Some of our older players may remember when we used to have the sewers & train tunnels blocked off due to these areas prompting game crashes. Unfortunately, issues still persist with these areas. Players that enter this area will sometimes turn invisible, both their player model and vehicle. This creates a problem for other players, as they will not see the invisible player(s). This can create situations where players are run over and injured/killed, or situations where players successfully get away from captors because of the graphical issues in this area. Players that enter this area will sometimes experience full texture loss of the area itself. Because of these issues, we have decided that we're left with no other option but to block the entrances to these areas off once more until the issue can be located and fixed. This could however be an issue with the Rage MP client itself, which means that an ETA for a fix would be unknown to us. Here is a short video example that a community member sent us about the issues: No Crime Zones - A Minor Adjustment We have some minor adjustments to some previous No Crime Zones. We've decided to remove the No Crime Zone from the DMV and Airport Area. New Players are naturally protected by the server rules already, so there is no need for us to limit potential roleplay in these areas. Part of the airport is already being used by the script for criminal activities. Old: New: Moving forward We'd like to end this announcement by thanking our community members for their support thus far. While we're aware that many are eagerly awaiting development updates such as the teased drug update, the least we can do meanwhile is make changes to our community to promote a better quality of life and health. We'll continue to improve on our communications and, again, hopefully, we can soon have a suggestions team up and running functionally, to provide more direct feedback on suggestions themselves. Any further last-minute changes will be posted on this announcement as its own comment.
  8. Added under 7. IC and OOC Interactions Preface This is not a change but rather further clarification. Where the roleplay makes sense, and where OOC consent from all parties involved exist, we do not want to limit potential roleplay. Thus we have again, but in our rules this time, clarified that racial slurs falls under digusting roleplay. We've also further clarified that we do not tolerate any form of racism Out of Character, and depending on the context and severity of the situation, can result in a permament ban. Added: - Usage of racial slurs is considered disgusting roleplay and all parties involved must give prior OOC consent before it can be done. - Usage of ethnic and/or LGBT+ related slurs is considered disgusting roleplay and all parties involved must give prior OOC consent before it can be done. - In addition, it must make roleplay sense for your character to want to use any racial slurs In Character. - Racism Out of Character is strictly forbidden and can result in a permanent ban.

  17. Added 6. Ruleplaying Changed under Non-Roleplay: Non-off road vehicles may not drive up mountains or steep hills. LSEMS & Mechanics and PD are exempt. PD now has access to off-road police scouts.
  18. In addition to this, read: Now I'll let you address what NBDY inquired as you make it seem like Teamspeak is some uncontrolled metagaming ring.
  19. Hello, we are at this moment not interested in a prison cap. The average criminal that evades sits nowhere close to 5+ hours in prison. The criminal that commits several murders do. (Example: Two days ago a gang (or two gangs(?) staged an ambush that killed 5+ officers. Three or something involved in the ambush were caught alive, and they were given around 700 minutes [- VIP jail/prison time reduction].) This is reasonable given the action. If they want to stage ambushes frequently, they risk getting these sentences more frequently as well. The quote by Alexalex is still relevant. Please make sure to go through old suggestions before posting a new one! (EDIT: About community service, any additional RP that DOC wants to provide prisoners should be documented by its faction leader and forwarded to legal factions. This way it can be applied onto a faction scripting requests document. Community Service would be dope!) - Osborn.
  20. Hello, I will go ahead and archive this. I previously posted on this thread a while back explaining why this will not be implemented. We do not find it realistic to make officers a target for robberies, which will happen - and while a rule can be created to try and tackle this, it will create unnecessary time drain for staff members who have to investigate the validity of such an event when they would (should) be extremely rare. But we know how much everyone loves their guns on the server, and a cop with access to heavy weapons = free and easy access to heavy weapons. It's not common, in fact, I can't cite any sources of officers being targeted for robberies in real life - cops being murdered and ambushed happens obviously, but once that happens, the perpetrator(s) usually leave the area. thank you for the suggestion! - osborn.
  21. 05/DEC/2020 The State of Eclipse Roleplay Changes to how we view and react to a player's general roleplay quality and contribution to the general community environment We've reached a point where the general environment on the server is often unhealthy. Certain groups of players focus on low quality 'shooter' gameplay - where their "roleplay" primarily consists of engaging in shootouts with other players or other miscellaneous action roleplay. We've also noticed an increase in "win" mentality - using the fastest cars/bikes, using cars that are affected by broken game mechanics (FPS dependent cars) in order to win situations. We've also noticed an increased in "ruleplay" a term which is not properly defined, but one that describes a player that deters from immersion and realism to play by the border of the rules. In order to improve things, community management has decided that we're going to fix the general quality of roleplay by; Removing players that have no focus on providing quality roleplay to all of the community, or players that have a toxic overall attitude that diminishes a healthy environment. We believe in leading by example - we've previously been very lenient against factions and their behavior, however - moving forward, we're going to be more strict with removing official statuses and if needed, force groups to disband. We encourage players to break free from unhealthy cliques and other groups and to lead by example among friend groups. If you are among those players whose only gameplay is e.g. to login, grab your gun and vehicle, and move between drug labs to look for players to rob or create a conflict with, then this is aimed at you. You need to mix your gameplay up - you need to add creativity to your gameplay and create roleplay. Not everything can or will be scripted. We want to reach a point where our server rules can be loosened up with less "limitations", however, at this current state - we're not anywhere close to that. The State of Player Reports Changes to how we will approach player reports and appeals Staff will now record denied reports as a note on a player's record, and include whether the report is petty or not. Players creating petty reports against players is often a result of spite. We've noticed a common pattern especially during gang conflicts that opposing gangs create petty reports against rivals for the smallest things in order to get them punished by server staff. If a player post frequent reports that are denied, it could also be a sign that the player are not familiar with our server rules - and thus due to their lack of understanding or reading ability, they waste a lot of server staff's time and create this unhealthy environment of throwing reports at one another. Senior Staff will review players with a large numbers of petty reports, or a large ratio between denied and accepted reports. This could result in punishments anywhere from being unable to post player reports for X period (which means no one can do it for you either), or being removed from the community for a certain period. The State of Behavior during snow Clarification to Non-Roleplay behavior during snow weather The snow weather is not purely aesthetic. We want players to behave and act as they would around snow in real life. Players are expected to dress up properly for the cold weather. (Faction uniforms are exempt as they cannot be changed In-game). Players are also expected to leave their non-off road bikes in the garage and apply appropriate tires to non-off road vehicles for the weather if they are to be used. (Tires is exempt for faction spawned vehicles as they cannot be changed In-game). The State of Mountain Driving Added under Non-Roleplay: Non-off road vehicles may not drive up mountains or steep hills. LSEMS, Mechanics and PD are exempt. CLARIFICATION: After deliberating among the staff team on the topic of unrealistic driving, we have decided to adopt a version of a rule from Lithuanian Eclipse Roleplay that covers this topic. When we rule on these types of topics surrounding game mechanics we try to focus on the things that affects players and the general flow of roleplay the most, and this has been one of those topics. It will now be considered as poor roleplay to operate your non-off road capable vehicles up mountains or steep hills. (off-road tires does not make your sports or supercar an off-road vehicle). This will simply be ruled as Non-Roleplay by our staff, and like all of our rules, it will apply to everyone on the server equally, except for in certain circumstances. LSEMS and Mechanics will be exempt from the rule, and PD (temporarily) until they get a addon vehicle added for off-road purposes. This only exempts regular patrol cars for PD. We understand that it will take some time to adapt to this new stance of ours, and our staff team stands ready to educate players should there be any confusion. Please remember to always focus on roleplay over "ruleplay", don't drop your character's (and faction's) lore in order to go out of your way to drive vehicles that can off-road simply to win situations
